The flavors will blow your mind! We saw a social media post on this and decided to give it a try- since it's local and we want to support our local business. This restaurant is in a strip mall with: DD's, Yoshinoya and Smart and Final on Azusa. We ordered these quesobirria tacos x4 $5 each,1 consome to share $1.50, and their surf & turf burrito $16. Did we expect the tacos to be better than the ones at Disney's DCA at a 10 rating? Especially since these were soft not fried like DCA's. No, but tell you what, these were an 8 since we are comparing. NOW, the next day, I heated up the leftover 2 tacos in my air fryer at 425 for 6 min. Guess what? They are a 10 out of 10, just like DCA's!!!! Fuego can you fry these up? I My husband and I shared the surf and turf burrito. It was large enough to share! Heavy, packed with moist rice, melted cheese, birria and shrimp. Only modification we ask for was no pico and no chipotle crema. The shrimp was freshly cooked on the plancha and to perfection (had a snap). I was worried at first, no one wants rubbery shrimp. This was by far our most favorite item, and probably the best burrito i've ever had!!!! My husband said he'll buy me my own next time. Sorry, I don't have a photo. We gobbled that up so quick. So now I'm thinking we should order burritos to eat now and order the tacos to take home for next day air fryer meals. In fact, their air-conditioning was a reprieve from a hot day when we walked in. Alex greeted us with his friendly smile & very attentive to us even giving us some extra beans & radish to go. We were immediately greeted by a young man with so much love and passion for his customers and the food they serve. My BF brought home some goodies from Fuego's after playing golf and I ain't mad about it. He ordered their asada, fish, and shrimp taco especial. OMG! Each were delicious!! So much flavor. He even bought their fresh chicharron and we used it to scoop up the left over meat that had fallen off our tacos and it was FIRE! We finished the meal with their churro bites! I finally decided to try this restaurant after seeing the reviews. The restaurant is small but, clean and the cashier was really friendly. I ordered the Birria plate which comes with beans, rice, 3 corn tortillas, onion and cilantro plus the consome. My son ordered 2 Birria tacos with a side of consome. The beef was tender and had great flavor. The portion is also generous and the beans and rice were also delicious. Their Agua frescas were perfect and refreshing. What a find! Unassuming spot in a shopping center in Covina with delicious Mexican food and the friendliest, most helpful and attentive service ever. We had the taquitos de papas and the surf and turf fries, both "with everything." Portions are generous. The fries were crispy, covered with a mix of really good (not canned-tasting) nacho cheese and a spicy avocado salsa, plus a very flavorful and moist carne asada and plump, juicy, tasty shrimp. Delicious! And the taquitos de papas were crispy and filled with seasoned mashed potatoes and topped with lettuce, crema, tomatoes, jalapeños, and more. The interior was unremarkable and kinda sterile but sparkling clean and the vibe was friendly and relaxed: everyone there was enjoying themselves and the food. Also, the a/c was not fantastic, so if you like a cooler spot when you're eating you might want to get the food to go (but get! the! food!). I had a birria taco and a carne asada street taco, both were delicious. The birria was tasty and the meat was so tender, not to mention the perfect crunch. Seasoned okay with hint of lemon, cooked evenly throughout. E. Al pastor = cooked evenly but lacked the usual pineapple taste / sweet taste. Decent. F. Asada = bland and tough. I was looking for a place to meet up with my friend that was visiting her brother in Covina and saw that Fuego was pretty close to her. First thing that caught my eye when I walked in was the aguas frescas. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. I ordered quesa birria tacos, my daughter ordered birria ramen and my friend ordered a mulita de birria. The birria was so good, it had so much flavor. I got an agua de horchata and the size of the mason jar was pretty big. The guy at the counter was super friendly and kept asking if we were doing ok. My whole party agreed that the surf and turf tacos are the best. We are honestly not really birria fans but it seems that a lot of people like it and it's clearly popular here. Service was great. I got a few cups of water and borrowed a bottle of salsa. The place is nice and clean. The complex is not busy and the restaurant was not crowded, although I came around 8:00 PM on a Thursday and around 2:00 PM on a Friday so that may be different on a Friday or Saturday around 7 PM. My critiques would be: the "sour cream sauce" and "guacamole sauce" are a bit watery, and the Covina burrito had too much rice and beans. But the surf and turf tacos make up for that. I'd come back just for the surf and turf tacos. The prices and portions are good for me, especially compared to where I'm from - the San Francisco bay area. read more

There was only one table taken, very clean and you can either order on a tablet or at the counter. The lady who took out order was friendly and explained her most popular items. We choose the birria quesadilla with a small consomé, chilaquiles verdes con huevo, agua de horchata and an agua mitad de pepino y mitad piña as as she recommended. The service was fast, food taste fresh. The chilaquiles were too soggy for my liking. I prefer crunchy tortilla chips, the salsa was ok- not spicy and the egg wasn't scrambled as I asked for. Rice and beans were good. The birria quesadillas was decent, nothing out of this world. The horchata was not good, it tasted powdery - it kind of tasted like a gelatina. We were craving some birria and found this place with great reviews. We came in at around 5-6PM on a weekend on found it pretty empty, but was kindly introduced and told how to order with the wait staff. We got a total of 9 birria tacos with some consome along with a horchata drink to wash it all down. I personally mainly enjoyed the horchata, it was nicely sweetened without being overly powering and was a pleasure the drinks. The birria tacos to me were a bit dry (making the consome a must buy if you are ganna try these), and felt a bit smaller than I would expect for 5$ a taco, but otherwise they were a decent snack. We wanted to like this place, but we were heavily disappointed with the food. Walking in, there weren't too many people, so there were many tables available for seating. There's a kiosk where you can self-order and there's a cashier upfront as well. The cashier was actually really nice. She was accommodating and really helpful. We ordered a Fuego taco, street taco, birria taco, and the quesabirria taco. Of all the tacos we had, I would say the quesabirria was the best tasting one, but the meat was also very bland. Even with the salsa on the side, it wasnt really flavorful at all. The cheese with it was pretty nice though. The fuego taco was the most unappetizing one for me. The taco shell tasted really stale, which it was a lot harder than we imagined too. The Hot Cheetos on top didn't really elevate it either. The meat was also bland. As ya'll know, I don't purposely write reviews simply to tarnish the reputation of a restaurant, and have always been transparent (even with restaurants that offer incentives for good reviews). I placed an online order, paid for, and went to pick up my meal around 7:20ish P.M. When I went to pick up my meal, there was a family in the corner and empty elsewhere. A young, tall, on the thicker end for a boy, approached me and say softly, "Can I help you?" I wasn't sure he was referring to me since he was clearly a teenage boy, with no name tags, no apron, nothing. The following interaction: Me: I'm sorry? Teenager: Can I help you? Me: You work here with a perplexed look on my face? Teenager: Yeah. Me: Pick up for David L. Teenager: Can I see an order number? Me: I don't have an order number. I just told you pick up for David L. Teenager: *throws the 'I don't know hands emoji' and said he couldn't give me my food without an order number. Your phone? Me: *Starting to get annoyed and frustrated* Dead. So, you're telling me I can't pick up the order I already paid for online, even after I gave you my name to pick it up, and I know exactly what I ordered: 2 quesabirrias, consume, and an agua fresca. Teenager: *He begins to give me the only order there for pick up and makes a backhanded comment* Next time, have your order number. Me: *I start cussing him out which is my fault for not being as tolerant as I normally am.* The manager comes out, or at least the woman in charge, but instead of listening to my complaint, she immediately defended her employee instead. I'm still frustrated at this point so I add cussing words to my statements and so I explained essentially "your employee told me I'm shit out of luck" *while doing the I don't know or not my problem pose/emoji.* The manager then said, "No, he didn't say 'shit'" and essentially directed the blame at me. I told her that she has cameras, to review it. And the manager said that she watching. So, you're telling me, you were at every second, watching your security footage during our entire interaction and knew enough to come out and say your teenage employee didn't? She then says that it is CA law for an establishment to confirm the order number for a pick-up. Having to be in the legal field myself, I researched. There is no CA law requiring a restaurant to confirm your pickup order. However, some restaurants have policies that require you to confirm the order before they hand it to you to prevent theft, especially with third-party delivery services. Regardless, had she listened to me, she would have known that I confirmed my order already with the teenager but she kept bitchin' back. I was irate at this point from the whole ordeal and being "hangry", gave the food back, and asked for a refund. We both continued exchanging a mouthful while she provided me a refund. Interesting that she didn't need to confirm my order number for my refund. She knew exactly who I was or what I ordered. I didn't even give her my name. Interesting indeed. Once she confirmed my refund, I left. It was embarrassing quite honestly and I acknowledge I could have been a tad more patient but they were being completely unreasonable. Horrible ambiance. Horrible customer service. Never going back to this establishment again, nor recommending it, and I'm sure they probably 86'd me as well. read more
