Branzino with Chili Sauce
Curt H.

I had the special branzino with chili sauce Sides were special rice and slaw - great texture and special flavor enhancement to the fish ...fresh fish Highlight of the meal was the clam chowder - perfect seasoning Easy parking in a shared shopping center lot Service pleasant and polite A dropped one star - need either larger fish portion or a more affordable price

Interior decor.

3.5 Stars First visit and had an okay experience. We went to celebrate my mom's birthday. The service was efficient, but not overly friendly. The food was a mixed bag. Some items were delicious; others were lacking in flavor or had an "unusual" taste. The dining area is a decent size, it was clean, and there is plenty of parking in the shopping center's lot. FOOD: We ordered a varied selection from the menu. Some items, Breaded Shrimp ($7.95), Smoky Seared Ahi Tuna ($20,95), and Ocean House Halibut ($33.95) were very tasty, but the Ahi Tuna Grilled, served rare ($18.95), Clam Chowder ($9.95), and Seafood Bisque ($10.95) were only okay. I mentioned an unusual taste, not bad, but the flavors of the chowder and the bisque were different than I've had at other seafood restaurants. I tried their Thai Iced Tea ($5.25) which was good. Overall, we felt that this dinner experience could have been better, but I would be willing to pay them a second visit and try some different menu items.

Fried Calamari (8 pcs)
May W.

Parking: There's a dedicated parking lot. Hard to find parking at a busy time, but there should always be a space available. I love that this is a family mom and pop shop curated for fresh seafood. There's an assortment ranging from ahi tuna, There will always be at least one group waiting to be seated inside. Additionally there's also sign in waitlist on busy days and times. Fried calamari: I don't prefer their fried version. It came out pretty fast, but I wish the batter coating was more intact, it fell apart on my first bite. Squid was soft and tender inside. Battered fish and chips: Fish was HUMONGOUS. So crispy and crunchy, fish was juicy and piping hot. Chips/fries were okay to me, it was soft on the inside and outside. Kale slaw was good, light on dressing and wasn't heavily drenched.

Shrimp Garlic Noodles. Delicious!

This place is absolutely delicious! I really enjoyed the food and can see why it's so popular. We arrived right when they opened at 12:15 p.m. on a Saturday, and there was already a line out the door. Despite the crowd, we were seated within about 25-30 minutes, which wasn't too bad. Just be sure not to arrive too hungry because we don't want yall to be hangry! If you're looking to avoid the wait, I'd recommend visiting on a weekday, especially around 2 pm or 3 pm. The service was friendly, attentive, and efficient. The atmosphere had a welcoming vibe that reminded me of being in Thailand, which added to the overall experience. The restaurant is spacious and comfortable, making it a great spot to enjoy a meal. As for the food, their fish and chips are hands down the best I've had. The portions were generous, everything tasted fresh, and every bite was worth it. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality, service, and overall experience make it well worth the splurge. I'll definitely be coming back with my gf!

Battered Fish & Chips

It was our first visit and we were excited to try the different options available. We showed up 20 minutes after opening, and their tables were almost full. When we left there were people waiting outside, not a line but a few groups. We were seated right away! We tried the coconut shrimp, the purple cabbage salad, Fish n Chips, Salmon Chargrilled plate, Tilapia chargrilled plate and the shrimp cajun taco combo. I would say we were all pleased with each dish. That coconut shrimp appetizer was so crispy and so fresh at the same time, with this orange glaze dipping sauce. The value is good for the portion size for sure. It's nice to go somewhere that offers healthy meals and not have to pay an arm and a leg for it. The fish n chips was HUGE, totally shareable! A favorite of ours was the Kaleslaw salad and the purple cabbage! I'm excited to go back and try other dishes! I have faith that they will all be delicious.

Thank goodness we rolled in right when they opened, because by 12:30 -- just as our butts hit the seats -- a line had already formed outside like they were giving away free money. Or free fish. Spoiler: they were not. The fish is fresh. We didn't get fish and chips like every other sensible human being in the building (we really should have). The mahi mahi was fresh but also seemed like it had been thinking about its life choices -- a little dry. The rice on the side? Let's just say "barely warm" is generous. It was flirting with room temperature. The rainbow trout was fine. Just fine. Not fireworks, not tragedy. A solid "okay." The clam chowder, though? Actually good. That chowder was the hero we didn't deserve. Service was okay -- a little slow, but hey, the place was packed. They were trying their best, probably sweating more than the fish did in that rice.

Fried Catfish
Mr. C.

Pulled up real hungry and got me some fried catfish and fries. I saw the high reviews so I expected the best. Left pretty disappointed, let's start with the catfish. Decent seasoning on it to add the tang but it wasn't crispy at all really, didn't have that quality catfish flavor. It was alright. The fries I think were better than the catfish, light brown color to them, good amount of salt. The mixed greens were alright, the dressing adding a little flavor but a little underwhelming. Fried Catfish: 6.8 Fries: 7.5 Salad Mix: 6.9

I saw this place pop up on my IG and I could not ignore it. I came for the fish and chips and I was not disappointed! The fish and chips definitely fresh and prepared with care! The portions are generous and you get what you pay for here. If you get full fast like I do, share the fish and chips plate and enjoy some extra sides or starters with a partner. I tried the Thai Tea and Taro Tea-yummy. Other party members had the mahi mahi fish plate, swai fish plate- both plates were licked clean! Lol. Service was friendly and overall clean establishment. I'll be back soon!

Came here looking for incredible fish and chips and was not disappointed!!! Their fish and chips were excellent, huge portion (made 2 meals out of it) and very tasty, but the real surprise was the Kale Slaw, you HAVE to stop in and try it! Nice size menu with a lot of good options I'll be back to try. The entire staff was very kind and were on it checking in everyone. The restaurant is not huge but larger inside than it appears from the outside, very nice chill place for lunch or dinner.

Erica F.

We were craving for fish and chip and found this place with great reviews, so we decided to stop by. There was a line when I got here during dinner time, but the line was moving pretty quickly. Services were prompt, and our servers were very friendly. They were also very attentive. We ordered lobster bisque, fish and chips, shrimp taco, and fish taco. The lobster bisque was very flavorful with the perfect texture (it was not too thick or too watery)! It has a lot of lobster meat in it. The shrimp and fish inside the taco was very fresh. The fish had a very crispy batter, but not overly thick. The fish was not oily, and fish was flavorful! The chips was crispy! The kale salad that came with the fish and chips was a surprise! The salad dressing was a bit sweet. It was refreshing. I will come back again for sure! This become my favorite fish and ship restaurant in Los Angeles!

Marilan L.

If you love fried fish and seafood, this is the place for you! It's located in an unsuspecting shopping center and if it wasn't for the sign, we would have missed it! But once you walk in, you're greeted by welcoming staff members and delicious food! It was our first time there so we had to try the popular fish and chips dish. We also ordered their coconut shrimp and cajun salmon dish. The coconut shrimp was one of the best I've ever had! It came out piping hot and the coconut taste was prominent. I'm not a big fish person but this place converted me! The Cajun salmon was perfectly seasoned and paired well with the garlic rice. It was crispy but not over cooked. The fish and chips were light but flavorful. And the portion size was a plus! Everything we got out was delicious and was large enough to share. Will come back again to try other menu items. As a note, it gets really busy around 12 so either come early or make a reservation!

Branzino with Chili Sauce
Valerie T.

Would absolutely go back! Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Definitely bring family or friends so you can try different things. Food - we mainly went for fish and chips. It did not disappoint! Came out hot and fresh, the batter was the perfect light crispy crunchy texture, fish was soft and flaky. Great flavor. The tartar sauce was good, had a nice lemon kick to it. The fries could've been better, they may have sat too long and were a tad soggy. The branzino with chili sauce is a must order, so flavorful and loved the black/purple rice it came with. Tilapia was cooked perfectly, tasted great with the garlic rice too. Clam chowder was good. Fish taco was good. Calamari was good, not chewy at all, but their cocktail sauce could be better though, missing that punch cocktail sauces normally have. Onion rings were fried perfectly, wish they had like a Wing Stop ranch though because their ranch was not good, it was definitely like a store bought plain no flavor ranch. Service - wonderful! They're all super nice, very sweet, very kind. Food came out fast and hot. Restaurant was clean. Parking - large free lot! Easy parking.

Coconut Shrimp (5 pcs)
Ann M.

Visited during Father's Day weekend, so it was pretty crowded, but the wait was only about 10 minutes--not bad at all. Just make sure you put your name down on the clipboard I thought it was an order first spot, but it's actually a sit-down restaurant. The portions are huge, definitely great for sharing, and the prices are pretty reasonable for what you get. The battered fish was really good, but the calamari was just okay--the breading was falling apart, which was a bit disappointing. The coconut shrimp was tasty, especially with the sauce on the side, though it felt a bit pricey for just five pieces. Kale slaw was delish! Way better than coleslaw Fries could be better though. Service could've been better. I think next time it's better to share the entree and grab few appetizers. Overall, I'd come back again!

Not because I'm a snob, but because somehow the more locations a place has, the more likely it seems that the food starts tasting like it was designed by a committee. Actually, I am a snob. I lied earlier. First, the atmosphere is great. The interior has cozy little booths and tables, with fake cherry blossoms spread across the ceiling, which somehow manages to feel charming rather than cheesy. It's intimate enough for a date night, but comfortable enough to hang out with friends and spend some time over dinner. There's a warmth to the place that makes you want to stick around for another roll... and then another roll... and eventually you are fatter than a tick on a Texas hound dog. The service was also excellent. We had a couple of servers, but Lily really stood out. She was friendly, chatty, and genuinely helpful. Good service is what I expect when I go out to eat, but when I remember someone's name afterward and feel compelled to mention them in a Yelp review, that's a pretty strong indication that they were doing something right. Nice job Lily and thank you. Everything we had was fresh, flavorful, and really well executed. We tried the Lemon Blossom, Salmon and Mango Delight, and Venice Roll, and all three were excellent. We tried some drinks and appetizers too, but I already know you're thinking this review is too wordy. Each had its own thing going on, and everything tasted fresh and super flavorful. For sushi at this price point, I think SushiYa is a terrific value. You get a nice atmosphere, genuinely great service, and food that makes you immediately start thinking about what you're going to order the next time you come back. And apparently I'm already thinking about that. In fact, I may be driving there right now as I write this review. Which, in retrospect, is probably not a great idea. If the police see me, I'm probably getting a ticket. Whoa, I just ran a stop sign. So if you're reading this and there's a noticeable lack of punctuation at the end, just know that the final sentence of this Yelp review was probably written through tears as I look at how much this citation is costing me. Anyway, check out Sushi Ya. Good stuff.

It was no issue for us whatsoever. Once seated, we were told for the first time that this restaurant was all-you-can-eat only. I explained to the waitress that my daughter only wanted two California rolls. Once again, I was reminded that this was AYCE only. No big deal, but I was a tad disappointed and surprised that we wouldn't be allowed to order À la carte. Up to this point, I haven't asked pricing for the AYCE, as I was prepared for $35.99-$45.99 per person, like most other AYCE sushi restaurants. At this restaurant, you order using your cell phone after scanning the QR code on a paper taped to each table. I scanned the QR code, and the full menu, including pictures, was displayed. I prefer ordering from any business by speaking to a live person; however, I have accepted that more and more businesses are switching to this option and/or kiosks for placing orders. We ordered five to six rolls in total and a few other items from the full menu on display. The wait time was approximately 33 minutes for our order to be delivered to our table. This was acceptable and understandable, as this is a large and extremely popular restaurant, as shown by how many guests were seated at nearly every one of the twenty+ tables and the steady stream of customers checking in and waiting for a table. As our food arrived, it looked appealing, and all the rolls we ordered were placed on one wooden tray. Our rolls were absolutely DELICIOUS!! Fresh and perfectly prepared. I truly could not believe how tasty each roll was, as each piece I had was full of flavor We made it to round two of three before we had to call it quits because we were stuffed and extremely happy with our lunch. When it came time to pay, I was extremely happy and surprised to learn that our AYCE sushi was only $29.99 per person, which is an unbelievable price. I might add that service here was AMAZING!! Between our waitress and a waiter who was also helping, they checked on us nine times. They were both attentive, super friendly, and hardworking. The restaurant was very clean and well organized, and there were four sushi chefs on two different sides of the restaurant doing their thing. The service was top-notch, and the food was EXCELLENT! We will gladly return here soon.
