A++++ Sooo good. I had the California Greek Salad with added gyro meat, it was delicious. Fresh salad greens, cucumbers, tomato, house dressing, it was absolutely delicious. My man had the gyro plate and loved it. The surprise was the homemade lemonade. The gal said it is made daily with mint, OJ, lime and lemon. It was light, refreshing, not overly sweet, just the perfect blend for a light fresh cool drink. I am not normally a lemonade drinker, but this homemade version is different in the best way. Highly recommend Great service, surprisingly quick bringing out our meals, and lovely interior decor. We were both very happy to find this wonderful Greek restaurant, couldn't be more pleased to add it to our regular go-to list. read more

My family and I love Greek food and we really enjoyed our food at Athena's. Its small and cozy but super authentic vibe. The customer service is great and very friendly. The food is authentic. Quality is very good and flavorful. You can really taste the ingredients. My 6 year old loved the hummus especially. We will definitely come back when we visit the area again. read more

The fries were cooked and seasoned good but I wish they just had a little bit more to their toppings. The gyro meat was good. The tzatziki sauce was good. But they barely gave any veggies: cucumber, tomato, red onion... I think the extra veggies would've made a big difference. read more

From ambience and service to quality and taste of food, Athena Gyro is wonderful all around. New to the area, I took some visitors here for a birthday dinner. We arrived on a Sunday at about 5:45 PM. The restaurant was busy but not packed. By the time we left at about 7:00 PM, the restaurant was emptying out. The menu had a wide selection of options for everyone. We ordered the Veggie Sandwich Plate, a cup of Fakes soup, Dolmades, a Soy Veggie Gyro Sandwich, Saganaki Cheese, Grilled Lamb Chops and Greek Chicken Tacos. The standouts were the veggie sandwiches, the tacos and the Dolmades. The soy curls in the veggie sandwiches were perfectly seasoned and cooked just right. The bread was soft and fluffy. This is now one of my favorite sandwiches ever. The Dolmades were moist but not watery and the consistency was spot on. The staff was warm and welcoming and even provided my mother with complementary baklava and a happy birthday song to celebrate her birthday. :) Special thanks to our server, Julia, who was super attentive, helpful and friendly. On March 19, 2026 I stopped by to order some lunch, it was during lunch time so it was busy but they took my Takeout order. I looked at the specials and ordered the Greek tacos and the Greek salad (California). The service was top tier and all staff members were amazing. I food smells amazing and it tastes so good. Flavors were melting in my mouth from the Greek tacos. This will be my go to on the menu for sure. The salad was great as well. A must try for sure, thanks Athena I'll see you guys soon. read more

Very legitimate Greek food! Wow! Had the authentic Greek salad (same as California salad but no lettuce) and added gyro (only offer lamb Gyro) and it was so fresh, meat was so tender. It was the best gyro meat I've had! They had a special if you get a gyro sandwich with a side like fries and a drink it totaled $20. Location is cozy and unassuming. Service was great and friendly. We ordered the Spanakopita & Calamari to start. The spanakopita was crispy and comes in 2 pieces. The calamari was perfectly fried and not the oily type of fry. The Gyro Sandwich Plate is filling and super delicious! The pita is soft and the lamb is thinly sliced and has crispy outsides. It comes with seasoned crinkle cut fries. We finished the meal with a pistachio Baklava treat. It's soaked in honey- I could eat so many of those. They also sell them in containers too. Service is quick and friendly. Although a bit pricey, This place is An absolute must when in the desert! I come here all the time for their gyro! The lamb and pita and simply divine when washed down with a nice glass of wine! Their hummus and Greek salad and just so good and light on the stomach it leaves you wanting more even if you're full! Servers are usually very polite and punctual, but not necessarily overbearing with your needs, just the way I like it. Their baklava is even better! Always take one for the road when you have a chance! The interior of the building screams Greece which is very welcoming(almost like a loved ones kitchen). I felt compelled to write a review for this place, and I never write reviews. I'm from out of town, this looked like a safe bet and it more than delivered. Large lean pieces juicy chicken, well seasoned and seared with a beautiful and flavorful crust. Salad/greens were nice and fresh. My only critique is that the rice pilaf was a bit mushy. Portions are really good, and the taste is really really fresh and delicious! The gyro meat not greasy like some places, and hummus was super fresh! We love the seasoning on the fries, so good! Second time visiting this cute gem and it was so good!! I tried the flaming cheese which was very yummy!!! Then I enjoyed their California Greek salad with grilled Shrimp and was blown away by all the veggies!!! I brought half of it home for another meal. The second half was just as good as the first half!! The atmosphere is relaxing and the staff is attentive. They seem to have a loyal following based on the take out orders and the welcome greetings received from the customers that were there when I was. We had the classic Greek salad with lamb kebab ....,it was mediocre and the lamb meat was so tough it must have been from the hooves.

Stopped for lunch with six of us and they will accommodated us putting two tables together and quick service. Food was delicious and everyone was happy. We will be back the next time we visit Palm Desert. read more

Great service. Explained difference between moussaka and pastitsio....the second has pasta to make it a Greek lasagna. Our group each tried something different and each one of us loved our choice: falafel gyro plate with salad, pastitsio with salad and I loved my moussaka with salad.
