This restaurant should be called the "Hidden Diamond Bistro" because the place is like a five-faceted gem: Fresh, Flavorful, Filling, Fast, and Fun. I told the owner about my description and he may use it to describe his delightful establishment. Fine with me.
So, if you're anywhere near the Palm Springs Airport and have time for lunch, this is a spot you should try.
The restaurant is in the North courtyard of the Desert Oasis Healthcare building, just west of the airport. There are parking spaces all around the building. So after you park, walk into the lovely courtyard and it will be easy to find Suite 404.
The proprietor, Joshua Wells, is a talented chef who also adds the "Friendly" touch because he's one of those rare people who is genuinely happy to see you ― and will do everything he can to make sure you get great food along with a big smile.
Let's dig into the details:
I've eaten here twice. The first time, on a very chilly day, I needed a warm up and ordered a terrific pork posole (hearty Mexican soup with hominy). It was nicely seasoned and had a generous amount of tender pork. Joshua also offers complimentary flavor tweaks like salsa. Needless to say, I waddled away with a warm tummy and warm heart.
The second time, I wanted something different. So I ordered the Vegetarian Bowl. Actually, it was served on a dinner plate, It was great. Matter of fact, it was the best-tasting vegetarian dish I've eaten in the valley. The flavors were much better than several of the more well-known, local "vegetarian" restaurants I've visited. I'm not done with my veggie food exploration yet, but will write here if I find more gems like this place.
Anyway, the ingredients included a delicious "rajas" ― sauteed strips of red and green peppers, onions, green and yellow zucchini, and fresh avocado. All were served on a bed of white rice, topped with a balsamic-glaze drizzle and a sprinkle of sesame seeds ...YUM! I walked away, totally well-fed and happy. The price was about $13.
Freshness: There's NO freezer here! All the food is prepared fresh for orders ― and you will taste the difference.
Menu & Prices: Sorry I didn't take any pics of the menu. Currently, it's one page with a nice variety of sandwiches, salads, burritos, posole ...there may be something I missed.
But don't worry too much about how many menu items there are. Joshua is also a caterer and has the chops to be flexible and whip up something you're sure to like. I recall the prices were up to about $15. The next time I want food for a party, Joshua will be the first call I make.
Ambience: Clean, spacious and bright.
Service: Fast enough for me. Joshua makes sure the dishes are cooked properly. Remember, the food is scratch made - fresh ingredients, freshly made each day.
Noise: Not really. Quiet enough to have a normal conversation, or think.
I hope your experience will be as good as mine. read more
