tl;dr: Overall, this place is casual, chill, and the food is delicious. We had a great experience here on Easter morning. Food is amazing. We got escargot, a salmon Benedict croissant, and a chicken crepe with mushroom. Escargot is tender, with the garlic butter it goes really well with the baguette. I've had escargot dishes across many fine dining establishments, and the dish here is also top notch. Salmon croissant has a great balance and is simply satisfying to eat. I ordered the Crepe Supreme. Generally, I'm not a big cheese lover but the cheese on this crepe is cooked very nicely and I enjoy it. The portion is pretty big too. I could've just stopped at the first piece, but couldn't help but finishing the whole thing because it is so good. I only have nice things to say about the service here because everyone is warm and friendly. Pacing is great and my coffee gets refilled promptly. It feels chill and relaxing, and no one bothers us with weird timing check-ins when we have food in our mouth. Our total comes out to $70 for 2 people. Contrary to the name, a pretty casual eatery. An extensive menu with a lot of options. Items can be hit or miss where the plain breakfast plate wasn't anything too amazing. I'm surprised I haven't written a review for L'Atelier cos I've been here for brunch every time I'm in Palm Springs. The place is small and parking isn't that easy (especially on weekends), so definitely come early. They also sell out of pastries and sweets/desserts pretty quickly, so early is key if you want the full selection. My faves: the ham or salmon croissant, the fruit tarts, and the quiche. This is a great little French restaurant. It's very busy in the morning before the heat so get there early. There is limited space inside but there is outdoor space too. The quiche is very popular - almost every table orders it. It's delicious- thick but soft and very fluffy. The crepes are delicious and authentic. The pastries are delicious - especially the raspberry beignets. What I like about this place are the owners who are very personal- they care about their customers and often come and speak with their patrons to make sure everything is to their satisfaction - you can tell people that come often come back and know the owners. Fees! Nickel and Dimey! PS local here. Just advising anyone, this establishment currently charges $.75 for basic cream in your coffee and an additional $1.00 for using a card of any kind. They don't tell you any of this. It just appears on your receipt. The coffee was decent and the pastry was average at best. My fiancé and I opted to share a croissant smoked salmon benedict and a quiche lorraine combo with apple cake. The salmon benedict was ever so subtly delicious with the mix of salmon, croissant, eggs, and hollandaise sauce. Nothing overpowered one over the other. The quiche lorraine though? Perfection. Absolute perfection. The eggs were fluffiest of fluffy. I burned my mouth but it was totally worth it. The eggs, jamon, and crust was just bursting with flavor that doesn't overpower you. To top it all off, the apple cake was not too sweet but just right, so this paired quite nicely with a cappuccino. One of the places that was recommended online near our hotel was L'Atelier Cafe, and as a fan of French cuisine I was interested in checking it out. The inside is on the smaller side with just a few tables, but thankfully we didn't have to wait too long before we got seated. For my dish I decided to get the Plateau de Fromage, which comes with cheeses like Brie, Gruyere, and Fourme d'Ambert alongside some fig preserve and baguette bread. I also decided to add some pate, prosciutto, and Jambon Paris for some meat in the platter. This was a great meal for me, since I'm a big fan of charcuterie boards and this dish offers a lot of variety in the ingredients to try. What a delicious surprise! While on a road trip to Palm Springs, we stopped at this small looking restaurant because of the French flag at the entrance. It was one of the busiest place on the plaza. I really wanted to like this place -- the setting and concept had me excited, and I came in with high hopes. Unfortunately, the food quality just didn't live up to expectations. I'm not sure if it's due to a change in ownership, management, or sourcing, but something seems off. The croque madame was the biggest letdown. The bread tasted like basic white sandwich bread, the ham lacked depth or quality, and the eggs seemed conventional rather than fresh and flavorful. The cappuccino was also disappointing -- flat and unbalanced -- and even the butter didn't have that rich, golden quality you'd expect from a French-inspired café. Service was polite but a bit inattentive, and at about $70 for two people, the overall experience didn't reflect the price point. We debated going to Farm or Cheeky's and decided to give this spot a try, but it just didn't measure up. I am in love with this place. It's like a small French Cafe was transported to the La Plaza shopping district. Intimate with French art adorning the walls and a French radio station playing in the background. The staff is super friendly, including one actual Frenchman (the proprietor?) who took the time to show me how to access the French radio station they play. I had breakfast there 3 times in 3 days.
