My brother and I were reluctant to try this place out because it's vegan because im not vegan and we were both happy to try out quality whole foods! Kelly was amazing in answering all my questions, she offered suggestions and even gave us samples of the zucchini almond soup of the day and the tooty fruity agua fresca of the day which were both so delicious! I was a bit confused about the separation of the dining room but I thought it gave the kitchen more character! One side is to order the food and do some shopping for their products and cute trinkets, while the other side was for dining. I'd recommend this place to anyone who is open to trying new foods!
What a hidden gem of the beaten path. I'm not normally a fan of fake meats but I absolutely loved the pastrami mami ($16) - the sauerkraut and pickles were very tasty, and surprisingly the vegan deli meat as well. The rye bread was probably the best part, chewy, rustic and with a thick crust. Service was fantastic - order at counter, eat next door and they bring it to you. Would def recommend even for carnivores :)

Quick yelp search gave me this vegan restaurant and after checking out the menu I decided it was right for me in that moment. It's in kind of a weird part of town, almost like a warehouse district. You go in and it looks at first like it's going to just be a take away place, but the guy working behind the counter told me that there was an empty storefront two businesses down That they had taken over as like a seating area. I got the taco salad and it was delicious! The chipotle ranch dressing had just the right amount of spice and it was super creamy. The salad was piled high with fresh greens, beans, some pickled cabbage and little tortilla strips. It definitely hit the spot. The meatless taco meat was really good. Only thing it was missing was a little bit of vegan cheese. This place is obviously really popular because the whole time I was there people were coming and going and every table had someone in the seating area. I went back in and got a Moroccan style cauliflower salad to bring back to my man. It looked really good and he finished it quite quickly! Ended up being more filling than we expected.
Chef Tanya's is my favorite vegan food of ALL TIME! I first came here on a work trip a couple years ago, and i've made sure to stop here every time i'm back in the area. The menu is robust and each of the items i've had here has been off the charts good. My favorite item is by far the BLTA - bacon tofu, lettuce, avo, add crack cheese. You can't go wrong with anything here. Coming here the day of coachella, we also got to see one of the bands performing eating there, how you know it's good. My only gripe is the matcha was not that good, could've used a lot more matcha and less milk.
We recently stopped for lunch at Chef Tanya's while traveling. What a find! The outside may not look like much as it's in a semi-industrial area near the airport, but don't let that fool you. The selection, the quality, and the service is great. I ordered the Modern Hippie Veggie without carrot on gluten-free bread, and my partner selected El Cubano. Both sandwiches were large with fresh, flavorful ingredients. We also split a gluten free peanut butter parfait that was delicious. Now that we've found Chef Tanya's, it will be a standard lunch stop when we travel I-10.
The place is off the beaten path in an industrial park. You walk in and there is a small market inside. You make your order and if you eating there you go to the dining area across a small street filled with patio furniture. I got the tempeh Caprese sandwich and my gf got the Guadalajara. Both were really good. The flavor wasn't strong but the bread was terrific. It was a potato bun. Service was great. I'd highly recommend.
This is review mainly for the mistake of giving our food away by accident. Actually, it wasn't given away, but it was taken/stolen from an uBer Eats delivery person. We placed a large order in advanced online, ample of time for them to make. Upon arrival, our food was nowhere to be found. Apparently it was grabbed by someone else by mistake or on purpose. My question is, why does this establishment place their online and phone orders by the doorway? The orders are placed on a shelf by the door and food that have been sitting there can be taken by anyone. Supposedly, we were told that it wasn't the first time it's happened. That is has been happening lately that people have been grabbing food either by mistake or taking them. Why now are they doing anything about it? Why didn't they fix that issue when it happened the first time? This is the first time I've ever seen any food spot place togo orders by the door that way. I'm not sure if it's laziness or that's more efficient and quicker for them to get rid of the order. That's a huge problem right there. Anyone can take food by mistake or just plain steal them. This place is small. The staff should have delivery personnel come up to the register and ask for the orders. It's not that hard. All orders should be behind the counter. Apparently a delivery guy came in there and grabbed an order then proceeded to take our bag as well. It's a logistics issue that shouldn't even be a concern. They did fix the problem but we had to wait for them to remake everything all over again so we had to wait again. We the customers had to ask them to accommodate us and have them solve their problems. The staff are young people. They were nice about it but I suggest better service and be more attentive and quick. It was an $80+ order and the food was alright. Expensive and was mediocre. Need more flavor on most and the position could be better. Overall, they did fix the issue, but this place needs to do better.
I looked up new places to try while on a short Palm Springs vacation. Chef Tanya's Kitchen came up as a choice with some recommended lunch options. I have to say Vegan is not at the top of my favorite foods. But, I will now add my very enthusiastic recommendation of the El Cubano sandwich, I also had the Agua fresca of the day (mango pineapple- so good!) And finish with the Lemon Drizzle cake bites. You will not be disappointed. I now have a new favorite desert lunch spot.
Cute vegan cafe with delicious food. There's lots to pick from and everything looked so good. I got the chupacabra chik'n sandwich and hubby got the Guadalajara burger. We both really liked our food. I added some sriracha to mine and it was perfect. I like how thinly sliced the seitan was. We also got the agua Fresca and it was refreshing on a hot day! Staff was friendly and our food came out pretty quickly. This is a wonderful option for fresh and healthy food that's also flavorful. Vegan food done right!
This place is outstanding! My friend and I tried their sandwhiches and were not dissapointed! I got the gluten free chickpea wrap which was absolutely worth the upcharge. Took home some dairyfree caramels that were to die for! I'll be coming back to buy more of those as christmas presents this year. Their homemade katsup and mayo were excellent on the fries. Matcha latte was ON POINT Tanya liked my photos of my cats too. That made me happy. She likes cats. So I like her.

Stopped by after exploring Joshua Tree and was very impressed! The tempeh was well cooked in my burger. The little storefront with vegan goodies is also wonderful and I had a delicious key lime pie parfait. If I'm ever back in this area I will definitely return.
We were driving to L.A. so I browsed the map for vegan friendly eats along that way and found this gem. It's about a 12min drive west of I-10, located in a small business park strip mall. It's absolutely worth the diversion. They have a small section with groceries, and a larger area with refrigerated goods. I tried El Cubano (no tomato, no cabbage), Potato Salad, and Key Lime Parfait. El Cubano was actually delicious. Their thinly sliced and seasoned seitan was perfect, as was the accompanying sauces and toasted bread. I'd order this on repeat if I lived nearby. I was surprised by how great the potato salad was. It had the perfect mayo/mustard balance, which is extremely difficult to find. I need a gallon of this. The key lime parfait was ok. I expected more (in terms of flavor, not quantity), but it was not bad. I've just had much better so I wouldn't order it again. I'd be willing to try a different dessert next time. It was gluten free so that's a plus! There were many other things on the menu that caught my eye, but I only have one tummy. If we'd had a cooler I would've grabbed some tuNo salad, Egg-y salad, smoked chick'n & pasta, and CTK tempeh pâté from their refrigerated section, because everything looked delicious. But now I have the perfect excuse to return to CTK on my next PHX-LAX drive. read more
The service here was great! The lady who took my order was so friendly and helpful and my order was ready pretty quickly. I also love their little store section with the faux meats, seasonings, and merchandise. I ordered the bowl of chili, the Chupacabra sandwich and the Guadalajara burger. The chili was so flavorful and I enjoyed learning that they use Rancho Gordo beans. The Guadalajara burger had great toppings but as much as I try, I'm not the biggest fan of Tempeh. The chupacabra sandwich was good, the menu said that the 'chicken' is thinly sliced, I didn't realize just how thin it is. I think I would have preferred if it were slightly thicker and less cabbage. There was so much cabbage that it overpowered the rest of the sandwich. Overall, I think this place is a gem and I'd like to try their other menu items. read more
I always swing by Chef Tanya's when I'm in Palm Springs. The place is just so cool to visit and feels like a tourist destination with all the merch and souvenirs on display. The T-shirt selection is fun to peruse through-- lots of different styles from funky to cute to eccentric. The sandwiches here are fantastic and usually my go-to orders! When you're craving meat, they really hit the spot. I would definitely recommend the imitation-pork based sandwiches in particular. None of the gamey stink or fat or gristle present in animal salami, but all of the spices and flavor. The bread is so fluffy and chewy too! I love the grab and go offerings as well. The Moroccan cauliflower is amazing (I usually add a handful of raisins at home and the combo is perfection...) and the vegan meatloaf tastes exactly how I remember meat meatloaf tastes. The African peanut soup is also really good. It's very thick but well-blended and smooth like a bisque. I like to add some beans at home for some extra protein. Overall, I'd highly recommend checking out Chef Tanya's Kitchen for fresh and flavorful cruelty free lunches! read more

I loved the amazing Guadalajara Tempeh Burger! It was a decent size, the tempeh was a thick slice and the fixings made it complete, with plenty of caramelized onions, succulent roasted peppers & delicious vegan cheese & guacamole. The flavors & textures, all within the soft potato-based bun, went together so well, it totally hit the spot! I was visiting from out of town but will make sure I return in the future! read more

Lots of healthy plant based salads and sandwiches here. When you go in, you order at the cashier but there's a separate indoor dining area just a few steps away. I ordered the Coachella salad which was a really good portion size; felt very healthy and the dressing was delicious! My fiance ordered the hippie veggie sandwhich, the toasted bread was really thin but it was packed with veggies! Service was good too! read more

Possible the best vegan eats in the Coachella Valley! Definitely a Chef Tanya's Kitchen fan for life and can't believe they actually have two locations with this being their flagship (the second CTK is in Palm Desert). It's hard for me to make it over here sometimes as I'm usually in town for a limited time, but delivery is always a great option and it's fresh as well as made with care. As a gourmet plant based cafe deli marketplace restaurant and kitchen Chef Tanya's has this little big feel good energy with cool warm wooden tables, colorful chairs, beautiful art, awesome displays and prepackaged ready to go goods for your fridge or pantry. I like to say it's like eating inside a mini world market (one of my favorite places ever) with the must trys to match like the Modern Hippie Veggie Sandwich, Banh Mi & You, Classic Deli Potato Salad and Tasty Thai Tofu Salad... Don't forget the Agua Frescas! They have nommy sandwiches, super soups, savory salads, delicious desserts, powerburgers, sides, sauces, drinks and even a nice kids menu - Lots of gluten free options as well. The vibes are inviting, the service sensational and hopefully next time I'll do more than delivery or takeout and savory one of my favorite places to eat, laugh and love in Palm Springs. Q Tips: Gender neutral restrooms and very much open to all. Parking is limited in front, but you can get lucky and there's more in the back. It's a bit hidden being in a industrial part of the low desert, but worth the adventure. Open from 11am until close (8pm) each and every day. And good for all meals of the day in every way. read more

I've been back a few times in hopes the Chupacabra was improved and happy to report it's still my favorite sandwich! So, so, so good! The bread, the crispy seitan, the combo of flavors.... Yum. Definitely hits the spot. The only thing I do not recommend is that chocolate cookie at the counter. Please DO NOT share that cookie with your non- vegan friends. It's awful and ridiculously expensive for a bad cookie! I don't mind splurging occasionally on some sweets, like the PB parfait, which is to die for, but that chocolate cookie needs to go! The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because of the prices. But this is what living in the US looks like these days.... Still worth a pop in! Lots of goodness to be found! read more

I was heading up to Joshua Tree National Park for the weekend to hike the 38-mile California Riding and Hiking Trail, and we made a stop in Palm Springs for supplies. I've always admired Chef Tanya--attended a cooking demo of hers nearly a decade ago and still own two of her cookbooks--so visiting her place felt like a long-overdue stop. This was my first time at Chef Tanya's Kitchen, although I've probably eaten at Native Foods (her original concept) a hundred times. Right away, I loved the charming, cozy vibe of the shop. The decor is cute, and I liked the "shop before you order" layout. There's a solid selection of vegan merch and provisions. I was impressed to see Rebel Cheese stocked in the fridge. That said, prices across the board felt steep. I picked up a breakfast burrito from the grab-and-go section to pack for the hike. The label was adorable but lacked key info like cooking instructions or nutrition facts, so I wasn't sure if it needed heating or was ready to eat. It felt substantial--maybe around 15oz--but again, no weight listed. I also found a pink canvas tote I loved, but with no price tag, I was surprised at checkout to hear it was $20. Sadly, I had to pass. We headed next door to the small but lovely dining room, where the compostable utensils were surprisingly high-quality. The Bánh mì came on a square ciabatta roll, and the tofu portion was noticeably small--disappointing for a sandwich over $16 before tax and tip. The flavors nodded toward classic Bánh mì, but after enjoying authentic vegan versions made by Vietnamese cooks, the difference was clear. The pickled daikon and carrot (đồ chua) felt like an afterthought. Still, nothing tasted bad, and it was an overall edible, if underwhelming, sandwich. The pastrami sandwich was a different experience: generous, flavorful, and satisfying. The rye bread was soft with a mild flavor--depending on your preference, that could be a plus or minus--but it was a solid sandwich. I'd expected more of a sit-down Native Foods-style experience, but this was more of a grab-and-go setup, which had its own charm. The prices did sting a little, but I really do appreciate Chef Tanya for making quality vegan food more accessible in the desert. That alone makes it easier to feel good about supporting her business. Even with the mixed experience, I left grateful that places like this exist. read more

I've been a loyal fan of Tonja's Kitchen for quite some time, and tonight I decided to check out the Palm Desert location with a friend for dinner. As always, the food was absolutely amazing -- rich in flavor, fresh, and soulfully prepared. Steph was warm, friendly, and made us feel right at home. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is the wait time, especially in the store section. In today's fast-paced world, a long checkout line can test even the most patient diner. A lot of folks, like us, were just buying a single item -- something that could've been handled much faster with a self-checkout option. Even a basic kiosk for store purchases or placing kitchen orders could ease the flow dramatically. As a former restaurant owner myself, I know most POS systems now offer this feature, and it would definitely streamline the guest experience. That said, I'll always come back for the food -- and I'm hopeful they'll take this into consideration to make an already great spot even better. read more
I had maybe the best sandwiches of my entire life from here. I tried the chupacabra chick'n and el cubano, both of which were insanely delicious. My favorite was the chupacabra. I dragged my entire family here (I'm the only vegan one in a family of meat eaters) and even they were really happy with the food. The little one enjoyed the mac and cheese from the kids menu. You order in one building and then they have seating in a separate building two doors down. At the ordering station they also have a variety of desserts, drinks, packaged foods, and non-food items for sale. The dining area is cute and clean, and they bring the food over to you. Everyone we interacted with was very friendly. I wish I lived in Palm Springs just so I could come here every day. Cannot recommend this place enough! read more

I was looking for a vegan restaurant to try in the area and came across Chef Tanya. There's a place for you to order and buy other pre-made foods, and there's a dine-in area in a separate building right next to it. I love the ambiance. It gave modern hipster vibes and was quiet and peaceful. The customer service was helpful. For the food, I ordered the Modern Hippie Veggie sandwich with a small side of potato salad. I love all of the colors in the sandwich, it looks aesthetic and tasted good too. The sandwich was light and refreshing to eat. I like the crunch you get from the vegetables. However i think paying $16.25 for a sandwich is pretty expensive, even if it is was good. The potato salad was alright. If I'm ever in the area again though, I definitely would want to come back and try their other menu items. Random note: banh mi being spelled as "bahn mi" on the menu bothers me a little lol read more

As a lifestyle medicine physician and whole food plant based eater, this place makes me so happy! Super happy with my Coachella forever salad and had to try Chef Tanya's tempeh! Husband got the hippie sandwich- lots of fresh veggies! Fun store to peruse as well. read more

Palm Springs location has very limited no inside dine in options, they have small outdoor tables of two or picnic tables. Palm desert has a little bit more flexibility with outdoor seating but still quite small

What percentage of food you put out is certified organic? Vegan cuisine without being organic really defeats the purpose.

Are there any soy free meat options besides chickpeas?
Yes we make housemade seitan and it is soy free. We also have salads without soy or chickpeas.
Are pets welcome?
Well behaved service pets are always welcome! Our space is small and we don’t have an outdoor patio where non-service pets may dine with their guardians. In cooler weather people often sit curbside with their pets. We love animals.
Is everything on the menu vegan or just certain items?
Everything! All made from scratch too.
Is there gluten free bread available?
No but we can do organic romaine lettuce wrap!
