We absolutely love the new consolidated location of Rick's! It's become one of our favorite spots for breakfast, with delicious food, a great atmosphere, and a genuinely wonderful staff. I'm actually surprised it isn't busier, especially given how popular their previous location was. But no complaints, there is rarely a wait...for now! But here's the best-kept secret: don't overlook the dinner menu, especially the Cuban food. It is outstanding and easily one of the most pleasant surprises we've discovered. The flavors are fantastic, the portions are generous, and it's a completely different experience from breakfast but still with great service! Stopped by here for breakfast on Sunday. It was reasonably busy, but we got seated pretty quickly The food was mostly on point. The fried chicken and waffle was very good--the chicken and waffle technically come as separate dishes, but the chicken's marinade and sauces were especially tasty. We also tried some of the more traditional breakfast items, including beans, rice, eggs, toast, and a few others, and everything was solid Service was attentive and the staff checked in often. One small thing: the coffee refills came pretty quickly, to the point where I was a little worried the cup might spill! The ambiance is pretty classic breakfast-diner style, with lots of paintings featuring old-school Palm Springs. It definitely gives the place some character and makes it feel unique I also made a joke about Rick's Café from Casablanca, and apparently I wasn't the only person who made that connection! Decided to stop here for breakfast after having driven past it many times. As I don't eat meat, I had the eggs with toast and breakfast potatoes. The eggs were cooked how I asked and the toast was well toasted as I'd also requested. The breakfast potatoes were delicious with pepper and onion. Overall, it was a really good solid breakfast. My boyfriend had the Cuban lechón burrito which he said was very tasty. He said the meat was well marinated in a delicious citrus flavor. My breakfast came with coffee and was a very good price. We have been going here for many years. We both always order the arroz con pollo and sometimes an appetizer. Several months ago we had the craving for Arroz con pollo and off we went. After getting seated we waited about 15 minutes to give our order. It took almost 45 minutes to get the arroz con pollo. We were never told there was a problem, but we were hungry and were happy to get our food. The arroz con pollo was not even luke warm, it was room temperature to cool. The only thing that was remotely warm was the sauce for the fried yuca. After dropping our food we did not see Emmanuel again until he dropped off our check. After paying we rushed out of there vowing to never go back. I believe the server was ashamed he forgot about us when the food was hot and after that he was ashamed he served us cold food. We all shared tastings... I Loved loved loved my generous serving of Ahi Tuna Steak perfectly seared and rare, served with beautiful asparagus, Jamaican black beans and rice. My sister in law's Cuban Ropa Vieja was fantastic lying flavorful and tender. The two salads i tasted were The Chef's salad and the Chopped salads, both with the finest ingredients, choice chicken, smoked bacon, homemade fresh dressings. We stopped off here on a Sunday morning on our way to the airport. Good, extensive menu. I had the catfish with eggs, and hash browns., and everything was prepared quite well. The catfish was prepared well and tasted really good. The hash browns were decent, and the eggs were plain, scrambled eggs, nothing amazing. I found myself wishing that they something else in them, but they were listed as simply "eggs" on the menu, and that's what I got. I also had buttered sourdough bread, and that was good. I was happy that the catfish was good, and enjoyed my meal there, as everything else was solid if not amazing. The restaurant also serves numerous Cuban specialties, and they looked good. When I come back here, I will probably try one of those dishes such as the El Cubano Sandwich. The service was appropriately attentive and friendly. read more

We were staying at an Inn nearby and they gave us complimentary breakfast vouchers for Rick's Restaurant. We woke up pretty early so we decided to check it out before the brunch crowd got there. It's a pretty big restaurant so there's seating everywhere. Definitely a diner vibe. We were seated right away and waters came to our table immediately. They asked if we wanted coffee, but we declined. The servers seem to be in a rush all the time. Everything goes by quickly: seating, ordering, eating, billing. There wasn't really much of a welcoming routine, just what do you want, ok here you go, and goodbye. Granted, it was a weekend and I'm sure during busy hours, that's exactly what you want/need to keep things moving. The menu is pretty extensive with a bit of everything. The voucher we had was for a Rick's Special of the House (2 eggs, home fries or hashbrowns, toast, and a beverage). I got scrambled eggs, hash browns (well done), rye toast, and a raspberry iced tea. It was a filling meal, perfect for breakfast. Eggs were nicely scrambled, the hashbrowns were fine. I didn't realize that the toast would come buttered and I wish I knew that because I would've gotten it plain but it was still good. We also got a breakfast burrito (I forgot the name of it) but it was a cuban burrito, with lechon, rice, beans, and a few other things. First of all, I've always loved diners, and diner food. With that being said, don't let that fool you. With a Cuban inspired menu, every dish we've had has been delicious. They have healthy options, like a grilled chicken breast. They have from breakfast to dinner options. The staff is like family. Very friendly, and extremely attentive. Had a nice meal here last night with 5 of my friends after going to the movies. Excellent service and great food. Two friends had the turkey dinner which they said was very good. Two had the fish tacos and said they were just ok. One had the burger which they enjoyed. I had the turkey club sandwich and it was very large and delicious. My pancakes and Hash browns were perfectly cooked and the syrup for the pancakes was served warm and the butter was whipped. Both nice touches. Our only complaint is that my husband said his omelette was way under seasoned, and the Ham to Pepper ratio in his Denver omlette was way too pepper heavy and ham light. We were hungry after "antiquing" a couple miles away. Rick's is a great comfort food spot, with home cooked food and daily specials. Comfortable booths, friendly service and great B/W photos from legendary celebrities and locations associated with Palm Springs all around the restaurant. Service was prompt, but the TWO menus were vast(breakfast and lunch both are served til 2pm, so we were given both those menus), but I def needed a hot minute to figure out which meal I was interested in. Hubs went with hamburger steak and eggs and it was a REALLY GOOD 1/2 lb burger. I landed on trying the Polish sausage with sauerkraut and Swiss, but asked to hold the bun. It came with a side of fresh made fries, which were also very good. The Polish sausage had a perfect snap to it and the two slices of Swiss were real cheese. Sometimes I'm not sure if I'll be getting processed or real is a delicious surprise. We were offered A-1 and Heinz mustard with our orders, which we appreciated, but Hubs had to ask for a coffee refill after he was done eating, none was offered through his meal. The server DID then bring a refill of my water without being asked, once he realized that wasn't offered earlier either, so we lingered a bit longer to finish both bevvies. The GIANT cinnamon roll and other fresh baked goods caught my attention on Yelp and also when we walked in, but I didn't have room to try any - THIS time. lol I'd also be interested in trying one of their scratch made daily soups and their roasted turkey entree would probably be mighty tasty for Thanksgiving. Not to be confused with the former Rick's Cafe. Ownership is the same, but to me, just not as good. Why, one may ask? To me (and the rest of our family), the food was just so so. Pancakes were kind of bland, egg serving was undersized and the bacon... well I get into that as well. I ordered the pancake and egg breakfast and added a side of bacon at $1.99. It is supposedly two eggs. Based on size alone, I'd have guessed they were robin eggs. Seriously only looked like one egg. Threw bites and they were gone.The bacon at $1.99 as an add on was one, I repeat, one slice of overcooked bacon! Definitely underwhelming. The former site was so, so much better. The one thing I would rave about is the cinnamon rolls. They are, (in DJT voice), HUGE and indescribably delicious! According to my son in law, the biscuits and gravy were really good too. Was great at last location where you could sit outside, now you sit in the parking lot where last time I went, a patron decided getting up from their table and smoking in the parking lot, less than 20 feet from me, and decided to walk around to and from their car. We weren't able to Rally all of our friends to come with us so it was just me and my husband. For server was super tentative and very fast and taking our order and bringing out our drinks and food. I ordered a Cuban Burger, Chocolate Cake, and strawberry margarita. I have never eaten Cuban sandwiches before so I did not know what to expect. Delivery is pricey. However it was nice to have to go out to have a margarita with dinner. It was a decent margarita but nothing special. The burger had a very large patty and a stack of ham on top with burger toppings. It came with sweet plantains which are one of the favorite things I had in this meal. The loaded baked potato I chose as my free side was salted and covered in bacon and cheese. Jalapeños, sour cream, and butter were packaged separately. It was a salty meal. The chocolate cake was very large- as large as my hand- and very extremely rich. The frosting was even more rich. I ate half of everything and am saving the other half for another meal. This was pretty decent food, the main dish is not my favorite meal but it was good. I ordered the Cuban Pork sandwich, chicken tortilla soup, plantains and black beans with rice. The chicken tortilla soup was delicious. The pork for me was tough. I would have preferred a different cut of pork. The plantains could have been fried a little longer and crisper. The black beans could use more seasoning. The restaurant was beautiful. I live in LA but this has always been one of my go-to's when I visit Palm Springs. The food is always so good! Tonight, we placed a DoorDash delivery order and there was an issue on DoorDash's end. I called and spoke with Adeline (hope I spelled that right) who was so kind and helpful. We wound up cancelling the order and re-ordering since the issue couldn't resolve on DoorDash's end. In the time it took to handle all that, my dad was hungry and got food elsewhere. When my order was placed the 2nd time, I called and spoke to Adeline again to confirm it went through. She noticed one of our items was missing and I told her my dad got hungry and couldn't wait. She offered a complimentary flan but my dad declined. When the order arrived, we had a surprise in the bag and a lovely note. This is the type of business you should be supporting. Folks who go out of their way to do kind things and be helpful.
