Paradise Cove Cafe is a small, unassuming breakfast & lunch spot that's punching way above its weight and scoring a whole bunch of knockouts. Located on Town Center Way, it's got the feel and look of most other diner/coffee shops, though the decor includes some beachy elements, I assume in a nod to the famous Paradise Cove empire in Malibu. Walking in, one might expect the usual breakfast suspects to look and taste as they usually do, but the folks in this kitchen are aiming for more and delivering the unexpected. Service is swift and attentive, and our server, Jahlyn, made sure to check on us quite a bit. They've got a long list of Pancake and Waffle variations to choose from, many of which looked like something out of a Dr. Seuss book, but my wife went simple: a Buttermilk Pancake with Bacon. Okay, you can get this anywhere, but not THIS! The pancake was large and imposing, but light and fluffy while managing to have pleasingly crisp edges. The flavor smacked of vanilla, and blended nicely with butter and syrup, while the bacon had been slowly rendered before being fried, giving it a crispness throughout that even extended to the fat, which melted on the tongue and delivered maximum bacon-ocity! I ordered the Chorizo Con Papas: eggs with homemade Pork Chorizo, Seasoned Home Fries, Sautéed Onion, & Serrano Peppers with Sour Cream on the side. I asked it be made as a scramble instead of an omelet, and they happily obliged. This was a terrific egg dish, perfectly executed and packed with flavor and spice. The homemade chorizo was lean and amply seasoned, while the sautéed onions and sliced Serrano peppers added a serious hit of heat. Sour cream was a nice, cooling foil for the richness and spice, and the potatoes added heft. Biscuits & Gravy served instead of toast were also phenomenal, the rich, flavorful sausage gravy having both a peppery punch and a slight tang from either citrus or sour cream. Paired with buttery biscuits, this was a very savory and satisfying side. Whenever I travel, I like to try the diners and cafés locals recommend. I was in Palm Desert for a trade show and decided to give Paradise Cove Cafe a try. It did not disappoint. The café sits in a shopping center, so parking was easy--always a welcome change from circling until you're dizzy. Inside, it has the booths and tables you'd expect from a neighborhood diner, plus outdoor seating, a little California sun-and-surf character, and an owner's sense of humor on display in the tower of pancakes on the wall. The music was loud enough to enjoy without making conversation a shouting match. I ordered the country fried steak and eggs and one of the chef's "signature secret recipe" pancakes. My food arrived in about 12 minutes. The steak was covered in flavorful sausage gravy and came with two eggs and home fries that tasted freshly made. The pancake had crisp edges and a moist, sweet center. Add butter and maple syrup, and I can see why the chef keeps that recipe a secret. I'd order it again. Even the tea was brewed in-house. The staff was friendly, and Jacqueline was especially attentive. She kept my glass full and brought extra napkins before I had to ask--a small thing, but she clearly noticed what I needed. The bill was higher than I'm used to paying for breakfast, but it didn't give me heartburn. I left well fed and glad I'd stopped in. Thinking back, we should have left when we saw how empty this place was around 8:30 am. The food was just not good at all... We ordered chicken and waffles, ranch eggs+ ham+ hash browns with buttermilk pancakes. I think this was by far the worst chicken and waffles we have ever had. The chicken was soggy and it tasted like fried chicken that was microwaved the day after... There was absolutely no flavor in the chicken and the waffles tasted like frozen waffles that were microwaved. The hash brown was soggy as well. One somewhat good thing here was the pancake. The service was great though. If it wasn't for the server's attentiveness, the whole experience would have gone down the gutter. read more

I stopped in for breakfast with hubby on our way out of Indian Wells. This cute little cafe is family owned I believe as there is cute wall art of the owner and his daughter as a toddler (who looked just like the 2 people working when I went). We got an omelette and breakfast burrito and were satisfied with the portion and flavors. You can tell they use fresh and good quality ingredients. The server was also friendly and attentive. We always try to find new restaurants to add to our Palm Desert rotation, and this is a contender. We arrived around 10 on a Tuesday and were seated right away, but it took awhile to get our food. There were a lot of breakfast options, from specialty pancakes and waffles to unique omelets and Mexicandishes like Chilaquiles. I got the Biancasada omelet, which has carne asada, peppers, onions and cheese. It is served with your choice of side (I got potato wedges) and bread (I subbed the grilled peach specialty pancake). The omelet was ok...the carne asada wasn't great and the other ingredients could have been cooked more. The wedges were good, but I didn't like the grilled peach pancake as much as I thought I would and wished I would have got the lemon blueberry. Portions were big, and I took half to go. Hubby got the chorizo con papas omelet with hash browns cooked extra crispy and a buttermilk pancake. The omelet was really good, and the hash browns were cooked well. The pancake was a pancake. They only have Pepsi products, so I went with water, which they refilled well. There is indoor and outdoor seating, and they had Hawaiian music playing. I'd come back to try lunch. Comfort food at its finest. The service is spectacular. The setting is great on the deck. Inside is not too bad either. It is nice to find a place with reasonable prices and excellent food. Highly recommend breakfast or even lunch. The pancakes are spectacular as are the waffles. The owner is a very friendly guy and really nice to get to know. He is one of those people who works very hard and making a restaurant special and not exclusive in terms of price. I've been coming here for brunch for a while and have always enjoyed it, which makes today's experience even more disappointing. After being seated, we waited quite a while before someone finally came over to take our food and drink order. After placing our order, we sat there for well over 30 minutes waiting. Our drinks, which were just an orange juice and a coffee, never arrived, and no one ever came back to check on us or give us an update. We were simply left sitting there with nothing. At that point, we decided to get up, cancel our order, and leave. I completely understand that restaurants can get busy, but there was little communication and we felt completely forgotten. It is really unfortunate because this used to be one of my favorite brunch spots. I hope this was just an off day, but today's service was unacceptable and incredibly disappointing. Came in for breakfast around 10:20am on a Sunday. We weren't seated until about 11:00, and with no indoor waiting area, we had to wait outside in the heat--which was pretty rough. Once we were seated, it took about an hour to get our food. Our server let us know the kitchen was backed up, and they did offer a complimentary beverage, which was appreciated. Despite the long wait, the staff was super friendly and the food was really good. I was so hungry by the time it arrived that I forgot to take a picture! I had a cheese omelette, home fries, and a biscuit with gravy--everything came out hot and tasty. The caramel cold brew was also delicious. We were heading back to Orange County and had items in the car that weren't meant to be sitting in the heat for that long, so that part was a bit stressful. Still, I have a feeling they may have been short-staffed in the kitchen. I'll definitely give it another try next time I'm in the desert because the food was good. My girlfriends and I were in Palm Springs for the weekend on a mother's Day getaway and stumbled up across this café, while en route to Trader Joe's. Not only was the food incredible, but the service was beyond anything we could have asked for. Our waitress, Jahlynn, was the most kind and patient young woman we have interacted with at a restaurant in quite some time. Steve, the owner, insured that anything we needed we were able to get. Interacting with the staff and the owners was probably par to how great the food was!! They made us feel like we were the most important people at the café, and we didn't go without anything! My wife and I go there at least once a month. So much is good there , the servers and owner are just nice people. You have to try the atomic waffle and the BLTA. Had a late breakfast today at Paradise Cove Cafe. The place is small, and old, with some paint peeling off on the wall beside our booth, but appeared clean. Our server was friendly and helpful. I ordered the Biancasada Omelette with a pancake, and my husband had the Chicken Fried Steak. My omelette was good as far as the flavor goes, but unfortunately the carne asada was pretty tough and chewy. Everything else was good. My husband said the best part of his breakfast were the hash browns because he felt the beef they used on his chicken fried steak was not good quality. Overall, it would've been better if the meat had been tender in both of our breakfast, but it wasn't bad. read more

I ordered the Carne Asada omelet and while it looked good it was just Meh! The green bell peppers in it were hard as a rock, minimal onions, overall lacking in flavor. Hubby ordered the chorizo plate but got the chorizo burrito instead. Trust me, this place does not do Mexican, not very good at all and the refried beans were terrible. Very pricey place for so so food at best. I will say this, they have a huge outdoor patio, which would have been nice if we had not inundated with flies as soon as our food came out. We were served by a most gracious sweet server Jahlynn , quite lovely and professional. The service was such that our food came out to us soon after ordering. As our food was placed on the table, as seen in the picture, the presentation was beautiful, causing anticipation of a delicious meal. And we were not disappointed. The food was first class tasty and prepared to perfection for our needs and we will be returning often as we are full time residents here. Wow. Absolutely amazing brunch. We got the Nashville Hot Fried Chicken and Waffles, and the full order of biscuits. The chicken was crispy, just the right amount of heat, and so juicy on the inside. The waffle was made to perfection. The biscuits were very well made and not too dry, the gravy had an amazing homemade flavor. Overall food was great. Would definitely return. This is a smallish cafe restaurant, with bsdic tables, chairs and booths, with a seaside kinda decor and a small patio set in a mini mall. This is a cafe, but not anything different or unique or with a theme. They are known for pancakes apparently...and this might be true, but from the salad and basic burger we ordered, they obviously are skimping on all the other meals. I ordered the Santa Fe Salad, which was a full entrée. For a $17 salad, I received 2oz of chicken, approximately 2 tablespoons of black beans and corresponding corn and diced tomatoes. The rest, was lettuce. There was a very small ramekin with a spicy "dressing", and, that was it. Are you kidding me? I finally asked the server if I was given a side salad, she said she had to ask the cook. Look, I can appreciate mini plates that are pricey, especially if it's different or unique, an expensive ingredient OR just for the ambiance...however this is a small basic place overcharging for, nothing. The burger was ok. The fries were ok. The salad was supposed to be a meal and ended up being tiny. Waste of money. BTW, when leaving I walked by a server on break eating a salad, and it was 3X the size I received, topped with a bevy of chicken and avocado and more. No lie! Came in on a Saturday 10/19 @ around 10:30am, party of 3. We waited 10/15min to be seated. It was a busy day and the staff seemed very overwhelmed, starting with the hosts/server. Our experience here was eventful and we definitely will not be returning. We not only waited over an hour for our food but had to witness our server mistreat an elderly table of 4. She spoke poorly to one of the senior gentleman who got up to complain about the wait time and service, she shoved her finger in his face and proceeded to bad mouth him in Spanish. So unprofessional. Myself, sister and daughter watched with disgust and listen to her and staff talk in such foul language. I did not get her name just recall her long black hair and red lipstick. read more
