Smash Burger with bacon added. It's not huge but it's messy and very good.
Craig W.

You come here for smash burgers and excellent cocktails. If that appeals to you--and it should--this could be your happy place. The restaurant is very small. Be prepared to wait 10-15 minutes. Order one of those excellent and extremely strong cocktails and hang out on the outside patio while you wait. My very good martini (gin, always, with olives) was as big as a fishbowl and I am not complaining. There is no way I could have drank more than one without incurring an overnight stay in jail for drunk driving. Smash burgers are not my favorite type of burgers but the ones here have a lot of flavor. I added bacon to mine because there is no reason not to do so. The bun was nice but fell apart on me. Overall, the burger is a messy feast but a delicious one. Do not sleep on the crinkle cut fries which you have to order separately. They were heavily seasoned and fantastic. This is not cheap food but it is quality grub and well-made. I would definitely return.

On a mission to try the best smash burgers out there, and the one at Heydey definitely makes my top list. I love this place -- it's like diner meets cocktail lounge meets burger joint, and I'm obsessed. Where else can you get a big, meaty smash burger and a well‑crafted martini at the same time. Truly the best of both worlds. It's centrally located with a small parking lot in the back, plus plenty of street parking. The fries are crinkle‑cut (my favorite), the ranch is solid, and I'd recommend the Caesar salad -- it has a fun twist on the classic. They also have a small outdoor seating area, they're super dog‑friendly, and the vibe is casual enough that walk‑ins work great. A must‑stop if you're chasing great smash burgers.

Driving into the Desert on a Sunday and need a quick lunch. Stopped at the Heyday at 2:30 pm and they are doing a good business! Not surprised once we sit down at a booth and look around. Great decor with old and new artwork ... definitely Palm Springs feeling but old, comfy diner as well. Very homey. Couldn't pass up on the martini and burger special (hubby driving). The martini is generous and strong! The burgers are very fresh and tasty - nothing bland about them. Same with the onion rings and fries - and I am picky about fries! Addictive. Service is friendly and attentive in just the right way. Not too much and not too little. Wasn't expecting such a great experience at the Heyday, but so pleasantly surprised. Apparently I'm in the majority because the place kept turning over for the hour we were there. Can't wait to get back there again.

We got the smash burger reg patty. Best burger I have eaten in so long. I was surprised. The fries was ok.

Our hotel actually recommended this place and I have to say it was good! The receptionist at our hotel said this was in n out vibes and it definitely was. The smash burgers were very tasty good seasoning and flavor. The fries were crispy and good just how fries should be. My only complaint is the cheese sauce it was like $3.75 for a tiny ramekin size which would have been fine if it didn't taste like cheese water. So basically I paid $4 for something that was gross and the size should have been more like .75€ or max $1.50 for that size. I would definitely come back and just get burgers and fries next time I'm in Palm Springs

I love a place that focuses on doing a few things exceptionally well. The menu here is simple and curated, but every bite was beyond delicious and made to perfection. It's clear they prioritize quality over having a million options. Highly recommend! The service was quick and server was very well mannered.

I hate to say this right out of the gate, but I was ultimately underwhelmed by both the service and the food. I first heard about this place back in 2020 when they were doing pop-ups and had always wanted to try it. North Palm Springs is a bit out of my way, but I happened to be in the area and figured it was the perfect opportunity. When I arrived, a very nice young man (who I assumed was the host) seated me at a small two-top near the bar/checkout area. Unfortunately, I waited quite a while before anyone came by to take my order. During that time, there was a guy and two young women chatting and laughing loudly behind the bar next to where I was seated. It was a bit distracting. What surprised me was that they turned out to be servers. Everyone was dressed very casually, so it wasn't obvious who was actually working there. If they all had the same T-shirt or uniform on then it wouldn't have been a mystery. Eventually, the same young man who had seated me came back and asked if anyone had helped me yet. When I said no, he was apologetic and took my order. I ordered the double smash burger with a side of onion rings and a glass of water. Everything is à la carte, and the menu seems to lean heavily toward alcoholic beverages. The food came fairly quickly. The burger was good, but not particularly memorable. The bun was quite small compared to the size of the patties, which made it messy to eat because your hands touch the patties when holding the bun. For a $15 burger, I was hoping for something epic. The onion rings had a nice flavor, but the texture landed somewhere between crispy and soggy. Throughout the meal, no one checked in on my table, and I noticed that none of the servers checked in on any of the tables. They continued to talk at the bar the whole time I was there. It seemed that the only time they went to the tables was to take orders and drop off bills. I eventually had to ask one of the servers for a water refill. The water tasted like straight up tap water rather than filtered. In the end, the bill came to about $28 before tip for a burger and onion rings. It was an expensive mediocre experience. I didn't like that they bring a handheld device to pay your bill while they are holding it. It's too invasive, when you're trying to figure out the tip. While I'm glad I finally tried it after hearing about it for so long, it didn't quite live up to the hype. It felt more like a tourist stop rather than a local hangout.

Western bacon cheeseburger

Came here for dinner on a Friday night. Place was busy but not so busy that we weren't seated right away. We sat inside and immediately knew what we wanted. We ordered a Smash Single, a Western Bacon Cheeseburger, an order of Late Night Fries, and a beer. Everything pretty much came out together and pretty quickly too. Both burgers were amazing and delicious. I really enjoyed the way you got a full bite of everything on every bite of the Western Burger. The fries, I was skeptical about because crinkle cut aren't my favorite, but these were also really good. The fries were crispy enough that it had that crunch and really held up the toppings and sauce. I wish it had more chopped chiles but that's just a personal preference. They were a perfect size for sharing between 3 people (2 if you're really hungry). After devouring our food, we noticed most people were eating their food with fork and knife. We felt a little embarrassed that we just ate like animals, haha, but our server reassured us that devouring our food with our hands was equally acceptable. She was really nice and I enjoyed the service. The place in general has a casual menu but it definitely felt like date night vibes. The place is low lit, a lot of people were in pairs, good for easy conversation. I wouldn't mind coming here on a first date, or any night really.

If you're looking for a great smash burger in Palm Springs, then head over to The Heyday on North Palm Canyon Drive near Vista Chino. Loved the double smash burger, crinkle cut fries, and the tasty Michelada. The Heyday also serves some local craft beer and specialty cocktails, as well as a Martini & Burger Special. Definitely recommend checking this place out on your trip to PS.

Smash burger, onion rings, salad, and late night fries

Definitely the best burgers in town!! The classic smash burger was so perfectly melty and the onion rings were super fresh and piping hot and amazing with ranch. The late night fries were extremely filling (wish we got a half size), although the chilis made the aftertaste interesting. The martini and burger combo for $21 is a great deal is well.

Double Smash Burger

We happened to be staying at a hotel literally 1 min from this spot and we got hungry but didn't want to eat too much before our dinner reservations. So we shared a double smash burger and their "loaded fries" . Good thing we shared it because it was a lot of food . The Double smash burger was heavy even half of it filled me up. It was delicious. Simple but had a lot of flavor. Their fries were also generous, there were 2 of us and we couldn't finish it , but they were tasty , on any other day we would have finished it . Hopefully the servers didn't think we didn't like their fries lol But they were good And complimented the burger. Definitely a spot I'd comeback to since they do serve Martinis? Yes Martinis! There are flat screens in there with one of the games on. Servers were polite and moved fast. Cozy little spot in Palm Springs if you want a Martini and a Juicy smash burger!

The martini.. 3 olives for me.

A good friend recommended The Heyday to me. The burgers are excellent. They are smash burger style. Their martini and burger special for $20 is a great bargain these days. The space is small and has a very cool vibe and atmosphere. I made my first visit to The Heyday last week (Friday night), which was the very tail-end of summer. Almost every table was occupied. I am sure, during the high season in Palm Springs, there is a longish wait to get one of the coveted tables or perch up on one of the four stools at the bar-counter. Our server, Samantha, was very attentive and friendly. The manager, Ashton, also greeted us with a warm welcome. The customer service here is awesome. Thanks ladies! I think every employee in the dining area and bar interacted with us, and made sure we got everything we needed. Yes, I like this place a lot!

WOW I am so glad that I finally got a burger from Tyler's, because it was unbelievably juicy, but also not covered up by anything. Nothing complicated about it. Just a thick, traditional burger done right. The staff was very warm, accommodating, attentive, & just genuine. It felt like each person I walked by made sure to acknowledge me respectfully. Today was a day for some self-soothing & it really was a turning point from then on. I didn't feel overwhelmed by dropping in for lunch on my own, in a very popular place. I also wasn't the only one dining solo. I enjoyed my cute lil corner of the restaurant with great fries & hibiscus tea. I don't know everyone's name, but whole staff today deserves their kudos. 3/31/'26. Thank you for the pleasantries & deliciousness. I promise I won't wait another 20yr to stop by!

Strap in to enjoy great cocktails and a delicious dinner. There are, as I recall, daily specials. From its humble roots ( 30-40 years back), this strip mall location is anything but a mall resturant. The aproned and bow-tied bartenders and waitstaff are REALLY good at their assignments. The back bar is ornate and old. Set your expectations high for the quality and presentation of the food. if you're a party of two, the bar is THE best option (perhaps only) and your wait time to order will likely be shorter there. If you're eating at the bar, ask your neighbors what they recommend or what they ordered, and you won't go wrong. Paul Bar is a one-off, not to be missed dining experience in Palm Springs.

On our journey to Palm Springs my team left the food choices to me since I'm picky. Lol. We showed up on a Wednesday night (note that they do not open Monday and Tuesday), around 4:40 PM. There was already a long line of individuals waiting to get in. There were about 15 people ahead of us. At opening, we were immediately sat down into the second dining room to the right of the restaurant. It gives a different vibe than the main room with its red bench seating and lantern ceiling. Although the benches were high, and the tables were a little low, we managed. Of course, we tried the complementary congee. Which I love, but my colleagues were not a big fan of. We ordered the calamari and the crispy beef noodle. We also ordered the shrimp and mango spring roll, the softshell crab and green papaya salad, and the pork belly lettuce wraps. The shining stars, for my colleagues were the calamari and crispy beef noodle. Followed by the shrimp and mango spring rolls and the softshell crab. The three of us did not enjoy the pork belly at all even though it came recommended. We actually only ate 2 pieces. The food overall was good although we wish we didn't get the pork or at least stuck to our goal of four main dishes. The waitress recommended we get one more and that's when we added the pork. Next time we will go with our gut instinct. One thing that was disappointing on this visit was that when we ordered drinks, one of them came out in a can. We were under the assumption it was a draft pour. For $14 it should have been noted that it is canned. The way that it is written into the menu no one would assume otherwise.
