Pumpkin salted egg

Used Panda delivery service..great service, food was crunchy and hot upon arrival...solid Chinese food tho expensive for the portion given...s&p fish fillets, pumpkin with salted egg and beef chow fun 4 stars...but the egg plant n green beans stir fry had a weird spoiled smell to it..

I usually frequent dim sum spots with honey comb tripe as it's my favorite. I liked the Cheung Hing in San Mateo so I wanted to give the new Milpitas location a try. Upsides - Chicken feet was good; flavorful - Chive and Shrimp Dumpkibg was Crispy - Taro Bun filling was good Downsides - No AMEX - Taro Bun pineapple topper is made out of taro powder, very weeet and not yummy. - Tripe needs to be cooked for longer, very chewy. - Worst XLBs ever, broke at the pan and the wrapping was way too gummy -- needs to be proofed for longer.

I went to Cheung Hing twice in one day while on a recent business trip. It seems like this is the name for restaurants in the Bay Area. According to Google maps, there are 8 of them. I think I've been to 4 different ones. This one is located in Milpitas. I don't know if they are related to the other ones. The roast pork and roast duck here are good. It makes for a good meal when you get it with rice or noodles. They also serve dim sum at this restaurant. The siu mai that I ordered was also good. Service was good. The waiter didn't make fun of me too much for going there twice in one day. Food was good. I can't ask for anything more.

I don't usually write Yelp reviews, but the customer service here was good enough that I wanted to give this spot a shoutout. My family and I came in around 6pm on a Sunday, and the restaurant filled up quickly by 7pm. Even with the dinner rush, the staff stayed attentive to our table and even joked around with my parents, which made for a really warm atmosphere. We ordered pumpkin with egg yolk, honey walnut shrimp, steamed oysters in black bean sauce, live steamed sea bass, sweet potato leaves, and fried rice. The sea bass was the standout, perfectly steamed with a mild, well-balanced soy sauce flavor. The honey walnut shrimp was a solid classic (hard to mess up). The pumpkin with egg yolk had a nice savory crisp on the outside, though I'd have liked the pumpkin itself a touch softer. The oysters were surprisingly large, and the fried rice was generous with egg and didn't skimp on portions at all. Overall, the price-to-portion ratio was well worth it compared to other spots we've tried. For dessert, we tried the salted egg yolk baked bun, taro baked bun, red bean sesame balls, grass jelly, and osmanthus jelly. The red bean sesame balls were my favorite, not too sweet, with a great chewy texture. I heard they're sometimes given out free on weekends, which is a nice touch. The grass jelly came with a ginger syrup that made for a light, refreshing finish to the meal. Pretty decent food and great service, I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu.

So far the best dimsum in Bay Area with decent prices and good quality. I had the half roast duck, it's flavorful and the meat was tender and juicy. We had the specialty fried lotus roots and fried stuffed tofu skin, both were delicious. The service was quick even it's Saturday lunchtime. Will be back to try other things in the menu.

While we don't come here as often as before, our family of 3 always enjoy a family dinner from time to time. Food doesn't always come out perfect but for the most part, Cheung Hing doesn't disappoint. Seasoning can be lacking at times so it is great to have the condiments table-side. Service isn't attentive and it certainly isn't great but we always have the most courteous interactions with the male busser and the older male Chinese waiter. We always look forward to seeing you both. Dinner dishes we absolutely love: * COMBINATION HOUSE CHOW FUN * BEEF FILLET WITH ASSORTED MUSHROOMS * SPICY CALAMARI (must request for sweet and sour sauce on the side) * PEKING SPARERIBS * CLAMS IN BLACK BEAN SAUCE * BRAISED MUSTARD GREENS WITH MUSHROOMS 4 Stars. Awesome spot for family-style dinners but the dim sum quality has declined. The dumplings tend to be wet and mushy.

Came here for lunch on a Saturday. We arrived just as they opened so it wasn't too busy yet. Parking was easy in the shared lot. The staff were patient with us picking out our orders. Food came out fresh and hotin a reasonable amount of time. All out dimsum items were delicious. The reataueant was clean. Prices were fair.

Bitter melon black bean sparerib over rice
Megan C.

OVERALL: It's rough (aka super oily, etc) but it's your typical canto dim sum joint not only of the food but also of the service. They do offer frog which is interesting. Very large menu. Portions are large and affordable. BITTER MELON BLACK BEAN SPARERIB OVER RICE: Amazingly flavorful. Spareribs had a bitter undertone due to the bitter melon but was well cooked. Loved the lump of white rice. ***PRO TIP: Order something over rice as it's about $13.95 vs $2.95 for one bowl of rice!*** EGGPLANT AND STING BEAN WITH GARLIC: Extremely oily and rather flavorless. The garlic doesn't really come through either. However, string beans are fresh with a great crisp whereas eggplant had a thick skin. PIG STOMACH AND FROG WITH GINGER AND SCALLION: Delicious. Large pieces of frog! Old ginger used with spicy vibes. Pig stomach slightly overcooked. CRAB MEAT WITH FISH MAW SOUP: Extremely typical and flavor profile is right on cue. ***add white pepper for extra flavor!*** COMPLIMENTARY DINNER RED BEAN SOUP: Not sweet. Didn't taste like anything. SERVICE: Wait staff is exactly what you'd expect in a canto restaurant...rude and the extreme need to wave them down. The younger male was nicer than the older folks. Interestingly, there wasn't "bus boys" but instead a female cleaning up the tables. ***Gave salted peanuts to "known" tables aka probably regulars or relatives (no clear definition provided)... which is rude af in my opinion because everyone should be treated equally even if it's just salted peanuts*** Never refilled tea. Never asked how it's going. Gave multiple side eyes, grunts, and shrugs. AMBIANCE: Casual dining. Great for groups if you talk loud because the room is very noisy. The tables, condiment containers, plates, utensils, etc are extremely dirty...I don't even want to imagine what the kitchen looks like. Metal carafe for tea given was extremely dirty and extremely janky. No service fee automatically included. No bag or takeout container fees. Where we were seating was very hot and very sweaty. Located in a plaza with other eateries; therefore, a large free private parking lot but parking can be complicated due to number of good options. Would I come back? I'd personally takeout because I'm grossed out by the cleanliness of this establishment.

The dead fish in the tank right next to us was weird. The parking lot and inside was pretty busy. The texture and taste was not what I was looking for. More

Consistency is the key and Cheung Hing delivers food quality that we trust whether it's busy season or a regular night dinner. Came for Thanksgiving dinner without reservation and the place is packed! We were lucky to get a table while we arrived early, but the line waiting for take out is long! It's packed and we had to flag down the staff multiple times to get hot water, soup spoons, rice, and reminded them a couple of our orders. They had no time to change plates for us or help to take out the dirty dishes. However, even on a holiday night, we could order from their value menu and for 2 small families, we chose Plan A with a lobster (small, comes out like 6 pieces but it tasted fresh). The plan comes with a pot of soup which was super yummy and flavorful. Then we selected 4 dishes. We picked 2 BBQ item combo of BBQ pork and soy sauce chicken, roast duck 1/2 size, beef with mushroom, and garlic bean sprouts. They offer only seasonal veggie so the bean sprouts were super fresh and yummy, a bit too oily though. The beef dish was delish, the beef was so soft and flavorful, we had no idea how they could make it so well in the texture, bouncy, juicy and not a bit overcooked. The roast duck has a good flavor of plum sauce and it could go really well with a bowl of white rice. The BBQ items were consistent in quality and always a kids hit. The complementary red bean soup was luke warm, but we were stuffed and everything was as good as their low season not busy time. I'm glad we always choose Cheung Hing as our designated meet up dinner spot, it doesn't disappoint.

I DoorDashed food to go. I was pleased with not only the quality of the food but also the serving sizes. Picked up several dishes for the office. I cannot speak about the restaurant inside dinning but takeout was great. The food was still hot when it was delivered. My favorite was the roasted duck. If you are looking for good Chinese food then you should give them a try.

Came back recently after some time away and was pleasantly surprised. The service has improved a lot--staff are attentive, friendly, and actually take the time to check in without feeling rushed. Previously being seated felt rushed. Food quality has also gone up. Everything we ordered tasted fresh, well-prepared, and had great flavor. It feels like they've really focused on consistency and overall experience. It's always nice to see a restaurant grow and improve. This place is definitely back in our regular rotation.

For me, the Crispy Rice Noodle with Shrimp! These were purple for some reason... but SO DELICIOUS! Even with the donut inside, it wasn't soggy at all. Our entire party consisted of 6 people and although there was a lot of hustle and bustle, we were able to be seated fairly quickly regardless of us not having reservations. I came here anticipating a wonderful experience and assumed I would be wowing my family with their very first visit with HL Peninsula Restaurant. While the visit was something they wouldn't soon forget, it wasn't exactly over something positive. Menus were provided and the young gentleman asked what kind of tea we wanted. We responded with the typical "chrysanthemum" and went on with viewing the menu. We meticulously wiped down the dinnerware and the tea pot arrives. Cups are filled and a bug is found floating in one of the cups. Since there were a few gnats flying about in the restaurant, I just assumed the gnat landed in the cup and died. I flag an employee and hand off the cup while requesting for a new one. New one arrives and I fill it up with tea. Again, THERE IS ANOTHER BUG. AT THIS POINT I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THE BUGS ARE COMING DIRECTLY FROM THE TEA KETTLE. Our entire fam stopped drinking the tea and I am forced to flag down yet another worker- this time someone more higher up. The gentleman immediately nods his head and grabs the tea kettle. NO APOLOGY, NO QUESTIONING MY ALLEGATION, NOTHING!!! Another staff member comes out with another tea kettle of chrysanthemum and I immediately decline. I request to have jasmine instead. Good move on our part because the jasmine loose tea was not bug infested. Brunch consisted of: * SALT AND PEPPER CRAB [LIVE CRAB @ 2.2LBS] * PENINSULA HOUSE FRIED RICE * SWEET & SOUR SPARE RIBS W/ FRESH PINEAPPLES * A4 WAGYU BEEF + ASPARAGUS W/ BLACK PEPPER * SHRIMP DUMPLING * PORK AND CRAB ROE SIU MAI * CHRYSANTHEMUM TEA Food was honestly really good. The tea situation was terrible and it says a lot when the employees didn't even bat an eye about the bug complaint. He calmly nodded his head and took the tea kettle which tells me the staff knew there were bugs in there. The biggest issue is not receiving a simple "sorry" over the disgusting mishap and me knowing damn well that HL Peninsula Restaurant will continuously serve that bug infested loose chrysanthemum tea. Do better, y'all. With all the money that you guys make, you can manage dumping that bulk tea purchased from China.

It looks like they specialize in Rice Noodles, so definitely give those a try! Let me just say everything that you order here comes out steaming hot so it's not your usual cart dim sum style. This was something that I tried for the first time and really appreciated! Some of the things I tried: Steamed pork and taro chunks 4/5 The steamed pork was so juicy and flavorful. They also throw in some taro chunks which I don't typically see, but it was delicious. A classic dish that's definitely worth trying. Thousand year old egg congee 4/5 The congee here comes in a GIGANTIC bowl. This is definitely something to order if going in a party of 3-4. The congee has such a home feel to it and it reminded me a lot of my grandma's congee. This was delicious. The only thing I would ask for is, I wish they had black pepper here, because that would make this dish pop out so much more Egg Rice Noodle 3/5 I saw this and it looked interesting, but it wasn't anything I found special. It was good, but not sure if I would get this again. If you're a huge fan of eggs maybe this dish is for you! Shrimp and chives Rice Noodle 5/5 This was really good, and I would order this again. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and everything was so flavorful with that oyster sauce poured over the rice noodles. I enjoyed this dish a lot, and a perfect order if you're going in a party of 3. Shrimp and chives dumpling 5/5 This is pretty similar to the rice noodle dish. One thing that I have to note is the dumpling was very soft. I preferred this a lot, since my experience with this dish is many dim sum places tend to make the skin of this dumpling really hard. This made it more enjoyable to eat. Siu Mai (Ground Pork and shrimp dumpling) 5/5 This is probably my favorite dim sum order and they nailed this one! When you take a bite into that dumpling, it is so juicy. It carries an amazing scent when you take a bite into it and I didn't really ever notice this with other Siu Mai order's. A classic order, definitely would order this one again. Service 5/5 There service here is exceptional and staff is amazing. Extremely helpful, they brought out some chili oil for us since it wasn't on the table. Food came out exceptionally quick. Everything was awesome! One thing to note, this place is pretty small so you will have to wait outside if you are on the waitlist. Check this place out, definitely a top tier dim sum place if you are looking for quality and price. Everything is very cheap and they also offer affordable rice plates (around $12-13) if you were looking for a quick meal togo!

The food was okay, but the service was basically a DIY project. When the check came and I left a zero on the tip line, the woman handing it to me pointed it out and asked why I hadn't tipped. Luckily, she opened that door, so I had the chance to explain why the complete lack of service earned that zero: * We seated ourselves after someone shouted "your table is ready" from all the way across the dining room. * No one greeted us, checked on us, or ever claimed to be our server. * We placed the entire order ourselves through our phones. * Our water pitcher emptied after our first pour and sat there completely forgotten for the rest of the meal. * Staff repeatedly kicked and bumped the backs of our chairs every time they walked by. * An employee forgot to lock the bathroom door, and when my husband and son walked in, she actually scowled at my kid while washing her hands instead of apologizing for not locking it. If I'm seating my own family, handling our own ordering on a phone, and tracking down my own water, asking for a tip at the end is a pretty bold move. We won't be returning.

Steam table includes charshu pork, braised pork, soy chicken and more. The braised pork had the roast pork but cooked on soy sauce based sauce with a hint of spicy. The soy chicken had lemongrass and garlic flavor. Charshu bbq red pork was slightly sweet and tasted like bacon but a little gamey. Pork fried rice was well seasoned. Chowmein had a different type of noodles than what I'm used but had good flavor overall. Bought the fried tofu on the side. Tofu was topped with diced grilled onion and bell peppers which gave it a sweet flavor if you eat the toppings with the tofu. All steam table items were good.
