This was my first time at Cheddars. My friends brought me as it is one of their favorite places to go. One of the major reasons they like going is their waitress, Amanda. Amanda is amazing and someone you definitely want as your waitress. When we came in she was right there with their drinks, asked what I would like and brought it right over. I had the country Fried steak. It was cooked very well, tender. The Gravy on it was very good also. One of my friends had the chicken pot pie. It looked amazing. Flaky Pastry with big chunks of chicken and vegetables. Over all very good food, they didn't rush you out and very attentive staff. Definitely should try Cheddars. read more

It was my first trip to a Cheddars. I ordered 6 Oz sirloin, mashed potatoes and coleslaw. The steak was seasoned but way to salty. I only got about a 1/2 cup of mashed potatoes which were real, but creamy. The coleslaw was watered down with not much flavor. The croissants drizzled with honey butter were delicious. We asked for two more and was told it was a charge of $1.99. Second two weren't as good as the first, but oh well. I had wanted to try a Cheddars as it's a scratch kitchen. The prices were a little high I'd say and portions small. Steak wasn't too tough for being a sirloin. I tried, it's ok, but won't be hurrying back any time soon. read more

Stopped here on visit and it was great. Kerie the bartender Was friendly but not overly solicitous, and very efficient. I honestly can't stand it when servers are so fawning and obvious. Keri was not! She was perfect. I had the chicken Caesar pasta salad and my hubs had this steak. Both were great and tasty. We arrived and although they were not busy we were advised they were in the middle of a shift change and some servers had not shown up yet so would be 20 minutes. We were seated within 20 minutes. We ordered 2-14 oz ribeye dinners both with the cheddar bacon cheese mash potatoes. One came out almost cooked per request (supposed to be medium but came out closer to medium rare) & received just plain mash potatoes. Asked for medium rare on the other steak & came out well done. I could see it may have been difficult to cook as requested as these were the thinnest ribeyes I have ever been served. Not far off looking like a flank steak. The waitress now was awesome. She did wait to verify the steaks were cooked ok. She immediately went to put in for a replacement steak and got the correct potatoes for the wife. The waitress was very attentive & never had to wait on a drink refill as she always had another there by the time you were down half a drink. The 2nd steak took a while to come out. The wife gave me half of her's as everyone in our party had finished eating. The wife's steak was ok. Not a whole lot of flavor. The 2nd steak was served & had a chemical type of aroma. It had a disgusting taste almost like gas or propane. The wife confirmed when she tasted. I declined any other replacement steak or food as our party was ready to go. The waitress advised the manager would stop by to speak with us. This never happened. The manager only removed the steak from the bill which any reasonable restaurant would have done. The manager was seated in a booth near the reception desk & she never once addressed us as we left. Sometimes cooking food goes wrong & that is understandable. I would have given a 4 star review had the manager any customer service skills and addressed it with us like I have even experienced in lower end restaurants. It took an entire glass of tea and 2 pieces of spearmint gum to get that nasty taste out of my mouth. This will be the last time dining at this establishment. read more

First time here and order the baby back ribs and they came out super dry sent them back waiting for the redo to arrive. The second order came out , they were better but will not order again. Took 15 minutes to get regular drinks and place was not super busy. Ordered appetizer of chips and spinach dip... decent. Once food came out daughters bread looked moldy (server and manager proceeded to insist that it was burnt and coloration from the pan that the bread was frozen until needed), hubby was missing the shrimp from his order, steak was like leather and so over seasoned it was almost inedible, they finally bring out shrimp (over seasoned as well)... basically the lack of attention and remedy of poor quality means we will never be back! I gave two stars simply because it was fairly clean and we were greeted with a smile besides that we will never return! Also server kept removing things we were either eating or drinking (took half of the bread and rolls without asking and then took drinks not finished with) basically rushing us to leave. read more

A friend and I went there for dinner. We were told a 50----55 minute wait but were told after 25 min. our table was ready. I ordered the country fried steak and was very disappointed. The steak was inside a huge crust which was 1/3 larger than the meat. I had to remove it because it was too large. We was a party of 3 and came in on Tuesday 2/4, at 7:30p. Very little waiting to be seated and had a great waiter, food was adequate for prepared processed food. My problem is the check with the tip calculation. First tip calculation is incorrect! Someone or their POS is not calculating it correctly as displayed on their receipts. Tips are also calculated BEFORE TAX. My receipt WITH TAX was $39.78, their receipt gratuity showed, 18% $7.54, 22% 8.37 and 22% 9.21. I've always left great tips for great service but to miscalculate and mislead or attempt to shame a customer for not tipping from their miscalculation is not the way gratuity works!!! Furthermore, Cheddars is relatively new in Ocala, FL and very popular, but I've been going to Cheddars since the early 90's in Texas. It's not the same Southern Confort food from those days. Very disappointed in their management for taking advantage of customers!!! FYI, I tipped generously for the service the waiter provided not the processed food that was served. read more

We arrived for lunch and were told it would be a 20 minute wait. We waited closer to 45 minutes. (We waited because we had a gift card.) We were seated next to a group of about 40 people having some sort of celebration. Because of their noise and the loud music, we couldn't even converse with each other because we couldn't hear over the noise. The waitress, while polite and pleasant, couldn't help us move to a quieter location, so we had a very unpleasant experience that way. To top it off, we had chosen the restaurant because they were supposed to do things based on your order; yet, when told by one of our party that they were allergic to dairy products, they were unable to provide steamed broccoli (which was one of the 2 side dish choices this person was supposed to get with her entree) because all of the steamed vegetables were cooked enmasse with butter and then doled out when ordered. How is that cooked to order? Even at Burger King I can get more 'cooked to order' than at Cheddars. They grudgingly gave our friend a small salad (sans cheese) in replacement of her 2 side dishes, since all of their side dishes were either covered in butter or cheese. Really?!?!? When the food finally came it was no better than anything you could get from any chain restaurant. I would prefer going to Wendy's rather than waste my time and money on Cheddars. This place came recommended to me new in Ocala. Couldn't wait to try it. Went originally as part of a 18 person dinner out. We all showed up and the couldn't find our reservation. Last week had an out of town guest and thought I'l try it again. Wasn't crowded and was hustled off to the bar where we were the only 2 people. We have been to several Cheddars but in the Orlando area. Always had good food and great service. I was very surprised at the low ratings given this location! My experience for lunch. was great. Seated in minutes. My server was prompt and attentive. The food was excellent. If not made on site, I would be surprised. Had chicken pot pie and broccoli cheese casserole. Large pieces of white meat, veggies not overcooked, crust just right. Even coffee was decent, not typical for a chain. Good service Jy. I recommend this restaurant. read more

I have had three meals here, all at lunch. The restaurant has transformed itself since COVID, with a much smaller disposable menu, with many less entrees. What has been consistent with all visits has been very mediocre food and service. My little local mom and pop establishment has similar entree choices, with the exception of no full bar, and has better service and food, for a lower price. Drive by this place regularly. Myself and a family member decide to go in and try it. Walked in the door at 2pm. We were told there was a 20 minute wait. After 25 minutes, we finally got seated. Of the 8 tables around us, 7 were empty. And yet we waited. Our waiter had 2 tables. Ours and the one across from us. Took 15 minutes to order. We got our salads 15 minutes later...and then got our drinks 10 minutes after that (water and soda). The person with me ordered baked white fish. She specifically asked if it was spicy and was told no. When she received her meal, it was spicy and luke warm. Veggies were also luke warm. She asked to have it replaced with one that wasn't seasoned (as she had made it a point to specify prior to ordering that she doesn't like spicy food. Waiter took the food and came back less than 5 minutes later with the same plate. The spices had simply been scraped off the fish and then the plate was microwaved (still had lemon seeds in the same pile she'd put them in prior to sending it back). I ordered the half a rack of baby back ribs / chicken tenders dinner. Chicken tenders were good. Ribs were over cooked to the point that I have had beef jerky that wasn't as chewy. Again, every thing on my plate was luke warm. Between the time we ordered and when we got our luke warm food, it took nearly 45 minutes. Saw our waiter once in between (he didn't even bring our salads....someone else did). When we left, the section we were sitting in had 9 of 10 tables empty. The other section we walked through was just as empty. Yet the lobby was packed and the hostess was still telling people there was a 20 minute wait. 10 people in the lobby waiting.....and nearly 20 empty tables.....and a 20 minute wait? Seriously? I guess Cheddar's feels the need to make paying customers to wait. I don't typically make it a point to come on and do reviews. But after the experience I had at Cheddars.....I looked forward to doing a review. If you like over cooked food that you have to wait for.....then by all means this is your place. Of note, the menu specifies how they cook hamburgers. You aren't even given a choice how you want your burger cooked. That comes off like out and out brazen cockiness that doesn't belong in the restaurant industry. read more
