First calling in to order I had to wait over five minutes, and when I called back because I hung up for a waiting so long, I was told that I was third in line and that she, the lady taking orders, knew I was on the phone waiting. My order was eventually taken. She was pleasant enough although the guy on the phone that initially answered, not so much. I only wish I had gotten his name and I'd write it. Second, I was told my meal would be ready at 7:45, I arrived at 7:51, had to call again once I got there and waited on hold again over five minutes, as no one came out and I had no link so I had to call. The lady who bought my order out was kind enough, so that is appreciated. The food does not look as good as it does where I normally order from. I hope it tastes OK. Spinach dip was terrible, meat loaf looked and tasted like liver, country fried steak had excessive breading but not bad taste, green beans were tough and bland, salad dressing was watered down, and sweet tea was not sweet. Went to Cheddar's with the family for the first time since it opened and was a little disappointed. This location is newish but still yielding long wait times and drawing a significant crowd. We went around 5:30pm and it was a 45 minute wait. I did notice several empty tables but own that I don't know if there was a reason they were left empty. We went to the bar and ordered drinks while we waited. They were decently priced and we should have just ate at the bar because it had the whole menu. We did order the croissants and they were good but not something I would crave again. We were seated within 45 minutes in a section that again didn't feel as full. It took a while for our server to come to our table and get our drink orders. When they finally did we already knew what we wanted and ordered all together. I ordered a medium rare top sirloin with the broccoli casserole and green beans with a house salad to come out first. I never got my salad and had to ask it to be taken off the receipt. When my meal came my steak was more medium well and the broccoli casserole was more rice and cheese with little broccoli. The green beans did not look fresh and were mushy. They were the flat green beans that looked like they came from a can. Overall this place is overrated for what you get. read more

I went here to take my Dad out for his birthday meal. We were greeted right away and sat in a section that was accommodating for my Dad since he had a walker. The table and floor didn't appear to be completely cleaned from the last customer. There was some garbage, food scraps, and cloth napkins on the floor, which was removed when someone pointed it out. We have an understanding with the food industry since Covid so it wasn't necessarily a deal breaker for us. Moving past this, our waitress was very nice and our service ran smoothly. Our meals included the Wisconsin cheese bites, Cornmeal Crusted Whitefish platter, Homestyle Meatloaf, Country Fried Chicken, Chicken Tenders Platter, and the Hot Fudge Cake Sundae. The croissants weren't baked enough because it wasn't brown and crisp on the outside, but, it still tasted good. The rest of the meals were delicious all around. We are a Foody Family and tried each other's entree. The crusts (cheese bites, fish, chicken) were crisp and light, not greasy)The mashed potatoes were delish and the brown gravy was SO good!! My Dad likes cocktail sauce with his fish and that was probably the best we had. So now we get to the cake; it was rich and sweet and the ice cream and whipped cream was all so perfect together, it was unanimous in our group that it was the best dessert we could have in a restaurant! I would definitely share this or take it to go because it was a very large portion for the price. The only minor set backs were the croissants and that the fries weren't hot. First we asked for a table instead of a booth because my husband is disabled and she said we have plenty of booths open. I said we can't use a booth and she acted disgusted because we wanted a table. Then when we ordered and got our food, my husbands steak tasted "funny", his baked potato wasn't cooked all the way and his cooked carrots were cold as well as the potato. So he sent it all back. It took over 20 minutes to get another meal and by that time I had finished eating. He is a diabetic and his blood sugar was dropping by this time. I spoke to the manager who apologized and said she would speak to the server and take care of our bill. When our bill came, we were billed twice for the steak dinners! Very poor service, very unorganized. No one acted like the cared about customer service there. We, for one, will NOT be returning to Cheddars to eat. read more

We have been waiting to go to this place for months now. We finally made it today when we went as soon as it opened. We have eaten at one in Brandon so we were excited about this one. We were quickly seated (no surprise since we heard the doors unlocked!!) and ordered the honey croissants. Our server came back and told us the croissants were going to take awhile. We assured her this was fine as we were in no hurry. When they arrived they were absolutely delicious. Our meal came soon after that. My husband ordered the chicken fingers and steak with broccoli casserole and Mac and cheese. I ordered the house salad and half monte cristo sandwich. I have heard great things about Cheddar's from friends and they all recommended that I try it out. I decided to have lunch with a friend who is staying in Leesburg and this was a nice in the middle spot. We arrived around 12:45 and were seated immediately. They are doing a great job at spacing out the tables in a COVID time. We sat down and were given paper menu's to look over. Our waitress came over and took drink orders. She was nice and attentive, but you could tell she had a lot of tables and was overwhelmed. For lunch I ordered the chicken tenders. Actually the person I was with also ordered the chicken tenders as well. She ordered hers dressed in BBQ and I got mine with Buffalo sauce on the side. They must of not understood cause both of our tenders came out undressed. For me it was fine. I did think the chicken tenders were a little dry and did not have any seasoning. They seemed like the ones that were frozen and just tossed in a deep fryer. Also I didn't find the sides to be to good as well. I got the loaded mashed potatoes and the broccoli and cheese with rice side. Again these just did not have a ton of flavor. Overall it was an okay place, but I am not running to get back. First time! Stopped by for a late lunch around 2pm and was surprised to see a packed parking lot. Expecting a wait, had no wait and was immediately seated in a booth by a window near a well stocked bar. Excellent service, restaurant stayed steady with customers coming and going. My only reason for a 4 star is that my husband ordered the Sirloin and asked for it to be cooked well but although he said it was well seasoned and did not need any steak sauce, it was a very tough to eat. I'm shocked to see so many negative reviews at Cheddar's is one of our favorite places to eat in Ocala! Although it's fairly new and management is probably trying to work out any issues (I always see a busy and full parking lot on the weekends) I have always enjoyed my visits! First- the croissants you get with your meal are absolutely to die for and make this restaurant a 5-star for me alone, but the rest of the meal makes it even better. The menu has a ton of options, which can make it difficult to make a decision, but I like that there are lots of choices for every kind of eater. So far everything I've tried has been very tasty, but the honey hot chicken tenders are always my go-to. Our service has always been very friendly and speedy, and I feel the pricing is pretty fair for the amount of food that comes with the meal. For those comparing it to Applebee's, I would argue Cheddar's provides a higher-quality taste and experience than that of other average chain restaurants. This was my first time at Cheddars. My friends brought me as it is one of their favorite places to go. One of the major reasons they like going is their waitress, Amanda. Amanda is amazing and someone you definitely want as your waitress. When we came in she was right there with their drinks, asked what I would like and brought it right over. I had the country Fried steak. It was cooked very well, tender. The Gravy on it was very good also. One of my friends had the chicken pot pie. It looked amazing. I was driving by Cheddar's today and decided to write about my most recent experience there. Comparable to an upscale Applebees, what Cheddar's lacks in creativity, they make up for in adding unnecessary sugar and sodium to otherwise dull menu items. Unfortunately, I was under the impression that there would be a plethora of cheesy menu options- hence, the name. However, I was mistaken. Cheddar's offers a lot of unoriginal appetizers, salads, comfort food and sides. Okay, they do have Wisconsin Cheese bites, but that's it. Deep fried cheese. The most impressive thing about Cheddar's is their honey butter crossaints, which are served individually as a complementary bread feature, and also available to order from the menu (if you want more). I think Cheddar's could up their game by offering a really delectable 4 cheese grilled cheese (maybe on Texas Toast with Cheddar, Gouda, Swiss, fontina and chive & onion cream cheese?! Just sayin') The queso is orange and tastes like it came from a can. The spinach dip is underwhelming. I haven't had any entrees here, frankly because I lost the desire to. The sides are decent. I liked the sweet baby carrots I tried. The bathrooms are clean and the staff seems nice enough, especially for Ocala, a town in which the service industry struggles to find reliable employees. Drink menu is very similar to that of a Chili's or Applebee's. Strong sweet drinks with mediocre liquor will offer both a sugar and alcohol buzz if that's your thing. As a terminal vodka soda girl, this is unimpressive to me. I have to say, their parking lot is always packed! So they must be doing something right. With central, easy access to a variety of retirement communities I'm assuming that's the reason. read more

Stopped here on visit and it was great. Kerie the bartender Was friendly but not overly solicitous, and very efficient. I honestly can't stand it when servers are so fawning and obvious. Keri was not! She was perfect. I had the chicken Caesar pasta salad and my hubs had this steak. Both were great and tasty.
