We had a new waitress, and while it's not her fault--she clearly hasn't been properly trained--the service was very disorganized. Orders were entered incorrectly, and even after correcting them, they took my husband's plate twice. He had already finished his meal by the time they brought out the missing shrimp. The honey croissants were forgotten after we asked for them. They came out and looked like they were under baked. No one came by to apologize, nothing was adjusted on our bill, and no one checked in to see if we wanted dessert. We enjoyed a nice meal here while visiting my mom and sister in Ocala. Good comfort style food offerings and friendly attentive service. Large location with plenty of tables. Even on a crowded Saturday evening the wait was not that long and we were given a nice booth table for our group. Our food came out within a reasonable amount of time. Chicken, fish, salads, veggies, and those yummy honey butter croissants. Decent enough portions for the price and delicious. What disturbed me was the table next to us had a parrot. A nasty bird sitting on her shoulder. I was told it was an ESA, she had papers, and they couldn't do anything about it. I really wish businesses would learn the difference between an ESA ( not allowed in restaurants) and a service animal! Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), emotional support animals (ESAs) are not considered service animals and do not have the same legal rights to enter restaurants. Because ESAs are legally considered pets in this context, restaurants are not required to allow them inside and, if they have a "no pets" policy, can legally deny entry to an ESA. If a staff member is unsure if an animal is a service animal or an ESA, they are only permitted to ask two specific questions to determine if the animal is a trained service animal: Is the animal a service animal required because of a disability? What work or task has the animal been trained to perform? If the handler answers that the dog provides "comfort," "emotional support," or "companionship," the animal is an ESA and does not qualify as a service animal. After our nature walk at Bolen Bluff in Micanopy we stopped for lunch on way home. Can never go wrong with Cheddars, I always have great service and good food. Plenty of parking and large location with plenty of tables and a huge bar area. Not to loud and able to talk without yelling and no issues hearing each other. We ordered a grilled chicken pecan salad and New Orleans Pasta. The salad is huge and the chicken was cooked perfect and seasoned well. The New Orleans Pasta has 6 Cajun seasoned shrimp and sausage with a Cajun cream sauce has a really nice kick. I have had 7-8 diff dishes over the years at cheddars and all are always good. If I could give no stars , I would Went there on Sunday (June 21,2026) Father's Day/7 pm-ish & it wasn't busy. Our waitress was over whelmed with 5 tables & other older waitresses complaining out loud about other tables & not wanting to wait on customers anymore. Absolute NO TEAMWORK I ordered a Long Island ice tea that tasted like lemon floor cleaner, you couldn't drink it, it was that disgusting Waited 20 mins for drinks & appetizer & another 30 mins for our food. I discovered that combination of flavors from (wait for it) watching American Dad so now whenever we go to any dine in restaurant I always request a Coke with cherries and grenadine. A solid chain restaurant for southern comfort food. We were in Ocala for a concert and wanted a fast, sit down meal. Cheddar's fit the bill. We arrived around 6pm, party of 5, and we were seated immediately. The table tablet has a feature to call your server, but ours was attentive enough that we didn't use the feature. The food is basic southern/American comfort food. Country fried steak, country fried chicken, chicken pot pie, fried shrimp, that kind of stuff. They have "healthier" options, but we didn't try those. We started with the chips and dip. They will refill the chips endlessly, if you want. I had the chicken tenders with a "loaded" baked potato and broccoli. The loaded potato had cheese and sour cream, but no bacon or chives. Hardly loaded, in my opinion, but still tasty. The tenders were nicely crispy. My husband had the chicken fried steak, and he seemed to enjoy it. My mother-in-law had the chicken pot pie. She said the filling was good but the crust was just so so. My kids enjoyed their kid meals (my daughter appreciated the fried shrimp on the kids menu). They bring out croissants drizzled with a sweet butter before the meals. Very tasty, but meal wreckers if you eat to many. The nice thing about the tablets on the tables is that you can pay your bill whenever you want without waiting for your server to return to your table, so we did that so we could skedaddle to our concert. All in all, it was a fast, filling, and satisfying meal. I hate to say this after having previous great dining experiences. I ate here on Wednesday afternoon. I didn't eat anything else until Thursday morning. Within hours, I felt a great amount of nausea. The nausea lasted until yesterday (Sunday) at which point, I vomited not once but three times. Thank God it was at home. Once it was over, all the nauseum went away. Went there for Mother's Day the food was actually very good the portions were disappointingly small had a Cajun pasta that only had two tiny pieces of sausage in it. Enjoyed grilled White fish; 2 large moist filets perfectly prepared and very fresh. Love the sweet baby carrots. Liked the side salad with lime honey dressing on side. Didn't eat the beans and rice side because it contains hot dogs and I thought it would be vegetarian. My husband liked the blackened salmon; said it was fresh. He ordered the smaller size of salmon and said I had more fish than him in my whitefish entree. Baked potato was good. Unsweet iced tea was not to my liking; strong and a little bitter. I prefer green tea. But I kept drinking it, so it must not have been so bad. We sat for well over an hour this evening waiting for our food. I tried to be understanding as we were a party of 9 (1 infant so really 8). We ordered a steak, ribeye, ribs, and a couple smaller meals. Appetizers came out in a timely manner. It's nothing else that did! When my son got his steak, it was raw. The ribeye was raw. Literally raw. The ribs were ice cold. An hour and we couldn't even get cooked food. The manager did take those items off the bill even though we told him that wasn't necessary. We just wanted cooked food. Of course the steaks then came out very well done, jerky almost. At this point, they just eat the sides. The waitress was nice, but did not take care of us. I ordered a drink that was delicious (I forgot the name). I wanted to order another drink but 30 mins and we still had not seen her to order anything or get refills. Ordered a couple waters with lemon. No lemon. Food showed up with an extra salmon entree and she insisted it must be ours. Look- there are 2 of us. Had to explain what we ordered right there in her serving tray. All done- she came to pick up dishes my wife asked for a box and before I could say anything- off goes my plate with the remainder of my dinner- I wasn't done. Our waitress and food were both good, but one of the management people was being horrific to the obviously hard working employees. We were in and out of the restaurant fairly quick, maybe 20 minutes, and heard this woman yelling 3 separate times. The appetizers and drinks are where it's at seriously go for those and then leave. In the nicest way for whoever directs the food: the buffalo chicken finger wraps are a mess and don't even stay together. Not much flavor other than a fried chicken sandwich. I think a wrap gets points for how it holds together and chopped chicken with sauce where you only get one good wrap is far better than 4 huge wraps that fall apart and don't taste that great. The steak is what you get for your money but way too much pepper on that and the mashed potatoes. Too much dressing on the Cesar. It's just sort of blah from there. I convinced my parents to give this place a 2nd chance since they were very disappointed on their first visit. So they did, and it blew up in my face! At the first visit, there were a lot of tables that were not cleared off, mess on the floors, including entryway, and the place wasn't even busy. And the service was bad. Second visit, they said the biggest problem was the bar service. It took forever to get four glasses of wine, even though they saw two bartenders, chatting it up behind the bar. Even when the manager was also behind the bar and the bar also wasn't cleaned off (dirty napkins and dishes) the whole time they were there. Their foursome ordered another glass of wine with their dinner, which didn't come until after the meal. Their server was apologetic, professional, and friendly. The food here is good but we did find a hair in our food which left us grossed out. Otherwise, the crossaints were sooo good, the lemon pepper chicken was perfect, the broccoli Cheddar casserole was delicious, the Monte Cristo was amazing, and the Ceasar salad was pretty good. The rice and fries we could've done without, they were bland and nothing special. Our server was super nice and with the exception of that hair we found right at the end of our meal, we had enjoyed everything. But let's be honest, a hair in your food is pretty off-putting, so I don't know if I'm coming back any time soon! read more
