Stopped by District Bar and Kitchen for a late lunch/early dinner on a beautiful spring day. The temperature outside was pleasant and so my dining companion and I opted for lunch on their patio. We were on their bottom floor patio (which was lovely) but I did spy that they have a rooftop patio as well (what's not to love?!?). Everything from the food to the cocktails to the service was exemplary. For my cocktail I got their Old Colonel's Smoking Gun which was their twist on an old fashioned and was delightful. For my entree, I got their salmon entree. It's glazed and comes with a size of their crispy brussels and cheesy grits. The brussels were delish and their cheesy grits rank among some of the best I've had with sharp cheddar giving them the perfect flavor kick. The atmosphere was so pleasant. I have been wanting to come to District for a while now and based on the Yelp reviews, so glad I did make the choice to stop by. First off the restaurant has an amazing view being that it's a two story in the downtown Ocala area it definitely stands out. We sat on the first floor which was super casual and so nice with the breeze. Our waiter (don't remember her name) in addition to the waiter who took over, Pablo were very helpful. For starters, the cocktails. I ordered a spicy guava margarita which was super refreshing and delicious. It has a sweet but slight kick from the jalapeno and my rim was lined with Tajin. I really enjoyed this drink and would get again. For my late lunch, I went with the infamous District burger. This burger is huge! It comes with 2 quarter pound smashburgers, cheese, sweet heat pickles, garlic aioli, and caramelized onions. It was so good - I finally get to see what why it's a standout item. Every part of the burger compliments each other so well, from the juicy patties, the aioli, and sweet pickles. I ordered the chips as my side as I wanted to try them out and wow you can tell they are cooked in house. They're not greasy at all although I did have some burnt/darker chips in my batch. Hostess and manager were very accommodating! We sat for 10 minutes without a server and they were dead; I subtracted a star for that alone. She also never really improved. BlackBerry margarita was great; cheese curds, fantastic!!! Burgers were juicy and chips and dip yummy. Server never checked on us and was hard to find. Been here a couple of years and remembered the roof top bar, so we decided to give it another try. We walked in and requested to sit upstairs. The host said to walk right up the stairs. We got to the top and the host up there said, "ugh, you guys are coming up?" Took a deep breath and walked us to our table like we were interrupting her break. Thankfully, she wasn't our service. Javi, this place's saving grace was the opposite. He was very nice and friendly, and made sure our drinks were never empty. We got pints of the Guinness' and shared the Ruben sandwich. We had a girls night! Arrived around 8pm unfortunately they had the upstairs outdoor area closed. So we sat downstairs. The hostess was super sweet and very helpful! This is my second time here and this time it was for brunch on a Sunday. I was so hungry that I forgot to take photos. We sat on the rooftop. We split a burger and the hot honey chicken. Both were excellent. Our server was attentive and friendly. I also want to give a huge shoutout to the manager who put a tennis match on one of the TVs for us. She had to troubleshoot how to get it on the TV and we so appreciated that she took the time to get the match on for us! Always searching for a roof top bar. There should always be a mandatory roof top restaurant in every downtown. It's only on the 2nd floor but I'll take it. It's September and it's beautiful outside. We set at the high top table along side the railing. There is a bar with TVs if that's what you prefer instead. The menu has a great selection. Nothing better than having them provide a Fall themed drink. I ordered the pumpkin espresso. My answer is always yes, in any way shape or form. 10/10. They also had a fall version of an old fashion that was so good that we had two. 10/10. Our food options.... Chicken wings dry rub-9/10 I do like how they have the option of dry rub or if you want it wet and then there's choices for that. The options are endless. Parmesan truffle fries with dipping sauce. 10/10 the fries are thinly sliced with the right amount of crunch. Cheesy grits-10/10. It was the perfect texture with the perfect amount of cheese. The best announcement yet... they have blueberry beer. Hard to find at any restaurant. This restaurant literally checks every box. Tonight my husband and I came to watch the FSU or the UF game (and to drink, eat, and spend money) but the management and staff were so worried about a huge party that didn't show up. The way we were treated by staff (especially the hostess upstairs MaryAnn) was rude and dismissive. Why have a wall of TVs if you refuse to accommodate your patrons? Food and drinks took 30+ minutes and the *huge* party mentioned never showed up so it wasn't like the kitchen or the bar were backed up. Saturday night should be staffed appropriately. Had dinner w the crew here on a weekday. It was a rainy day so it wasn't very busy. We went upstairs to the rooftop. It is covered. We were seated at the perimeter so unfortunately the sideways rain was getting to us, but it was off and on. The food was what I'd consider upscale bar food. For instance- I had the bourbon salmon and they actually asked me how I wanted my salmon cooked. Very nice! Service was great. Our server Kelsey was checking on us often. She kept our waters full and our drinks flowing. She mentioned she was the one who created the seasonal drink of the month. It was a banana cinnamon old-fashioned. It wasn't bad. I stuck with gin and enjoyed both of my cocktails. We stayed there about three hours, enjoying appetizer strength and dinner. The place got pretty full after a while. Everyone enjoyed their food. Parking is along the street and can get tricky when it's busy. I would eat here again. Bathrooms are clean. read more

My third time at District Bar & Kitchen and it for the third time it's 5/5 Yelp stars. The atmosphere is so fun and our server, Daniel, was friendly and informative about the menu. Shoutout for him coming up with the concept of the blackberry grilled cheese, which is a newer item on their menu. It was a savory and sweet combination of goat cheese blackberry basil honey jam, mozzarella, and bacon on butter-toasted sourdough. I got the tater tot-chos, which was a MASSIVE sized appetizer that could feed at least four. My sister got her usual chicken B.L.A.T. and she said "this is the best chicken sandwich I have ever had anywhere." I usually never update my Yelp reviews but District Bar & Kitchen is different. Maya, ya did good picking this place :) We were coming from Ocala Comic-con and needed a place to eat lunch before heading back to Jax. This place was about 20 mins away but reviews were awesome so we made the trip over. We were fortunate to find a parking spot half a block over because the area was packed. We walked over and walked in which downstairs was the bar area and a patio area. We told the hostess that we wanted to sit upstairs and she directed us to the stairs where they'd sit us. Up the stairs we went and the difference is night and day: open, lively, gorgeous views, and plenty of seating. They also had live music where the guy was playing some oldies. He was pretty good too. We sat close to the bar area which I really loved. The bar area had a dumbwaiter attached to it to bring up food from the kitchen downstairs. Hadn't seen one of those I think ever. Our server was great with recommendations since we didn't know what we had a taste for, just hungry. This is what we got: Salmon and Beet Omelet (Smoked Salmon, Goat Cream Cheese, Beet Relish, Mixed Greens, Sherry Vinaigrette, DBK Potatoes)- I honestly was surprised how tasty this was together. You have all the different textures mixed together while tasting a combo of the earth and the sea. I really enjoyed this. Shrimp & Grits (jumbo shrimp, red pepper chorizo cream sauce, cheezy stone-ground grits, grilled scallions)- looks like a small portion but after eating it he was content. The shrimp were jumbo and the grits were yellow. I tasted a shrimp and it tasted super fresh. Crème Brulee - his dessert. Very creamy and not overly sweet. Strawberry Layer Cake - my dessert. A simple layered cake with strawberry crème in between. I'm grateful that it didn't have a lot of icing because as an adult now it isn't as enjoyable for me. It was just the right amount. Lavender Haze (Wheatley Vodka, Lavender, Fresh Lemon, Blackberry) - pretty tasty Featured drink - I don't care for Old fashioned but I was sold on the puree and syrup added to it. The flowers within the ice made the drink oh so pretty. That was perhaps the best one I've ever had. Thanks for feeding us during our visit. The district burger has some of the best tasting meat I've ever had. And the breakfast burrito with tater totes and the flavoring used on top is the best I've ever had. And their Bloody Mary is in the top 5 for flavor and condiments. Loved being able to sit outside. Waitress Brianna was very helpful with our choices. Many place try craft but don't do it right. I've been here 3x on work trips and have not been disappointed yet. First this place has the coolest vibe and atmosphere. It's super clean too. Air conditioned and chilled environment on the first floor and an awesome open deck on the second floor. Would be a great place to watch a sports game with friends or family, but I am usually riding solo on business. Service has always been great and was again this evening. As for the food, it's delicious. I will admit tonight was the first mediocre meal I had. The salmon did not taste fresh and was over cooked. Thankfully the delicious cheddar grits and bourbon sauce helped mostly drown out the extra fishy flavor. The pizza is delicious, fired Brussel sprouts are as good as it gets, the wings were cooked just right, the wedge salad is huge, tasty, and filling and the steak was pretty solid. We've always enjoyed this restaurant and had another good meal here today -- the food was great, the prices reasonable, and the service above average. However, the posted sign was disappointing and inflammatory. Please don't claim to respect our rights while simultaneously denying them. Unfortunately, we won't be returning given this decision to so openly disregard personal freedoms. Additionally, please clean out the drain holes next to seats that have garbage in them. Great experience! From the outdoor seating upstairs, to good food and great service, it was a warm afternoon, but the huge fans took the edge off! Burgers, wings and Ruebens were all good and the homemade chips were tasty!
