Dinner at Mark's last night has become a holiday tradition for us. The lights on the square, a little bar hopping and finishing the evening with a great dinner. The espresso martini hit the mark while seated at the bar before the table was ready. The Cesar salad was fresh and dressing spot on. Large enough to split and we did. The bread was warm and melted in your mouth. Hubby and I also split the filet, sea bass and twice-baked potato. I ordered the filet cooked medium and it was a nice pink. The sea bass was placed on a bed of corn-based relish that complemented the fish. We could not finish the potato-it was huge and covered with cheese and bacon. No room for dessert! We visited Marks Steak for the first time last night. It was oue early Valentines. We had never been before. We had a terrible experience. We waited 25 minutes to get bread pon the table. I ordered Sea zBass that was cold when I gotnit. My husband ordered an $80.00 steak that wad marginal. The very best was the bavon appetizer. So We spent near $200.00 for marginal food and 2.5 hours of terrible service. The restaurant is world class! The servers are attentive and knowledgeable. They have an intimate feel that gives you a semi-private dining experience. Their chicken breast and steaks are truly some of the best I have ever had, with family style sides to share. Their gourmet chocolate dessert is sinfully delicious, especially with the homemade whipped cream topping it off!!! We've dined with them on several occasions, each time was a cullinary experience like no other! If you are celebrating something special (birthday, anniversary, etc) they provide a complimentary dessert. The restaurant asks about food allergies at the time you're making the reservation and ensure that your meal is safe. They provide an amazing meal with a welcoming dining experience! Chose Mark's for a romantic special occasion. I suggest reservations because even during weekdays, the restaurant is always busy. Ambience is refined and upscale. Staff very attentive. Wine list extensive. Sommelier recommendations appreciated. We started with the Lobster Escargot for an appetizer. It was out of this world. Entrees included a Petite Filet with Herb Butter, Filet Mignon with Bearnaise sauce - both cooked to perfection. Each side is enough for two, so consider sharing. Food very good. Steak well prepared and creative, tasty sides and salads. But the indoor temperature was so cool I could not enjoy my meal. I saw an elderly lady with a light weight blanket wrapped around her shoulders. When we left at 8pm it was warmer outdoors. People in the restaurant business tell me that managers turn the air conditioning up to freeze people out so they'll leave. This is the second time we've been there when it was too cold to enjoy the meal. There were empty tables so I guess they don't want our business. We won't be back. We've been to Capital Grill, Ruth's Chris Fleming's and many sub par steakhouses in The Villages. Mark's Prime was so much better than all of them. I felt like the prices were reasonable for the caliber of food offered. I appreciated the variety of salads and the option to have a smaller version of any of them. I also judge a steakhouse by the side dishes options. Since Covid so many restaurants have really cut corners where sides are concerned. Again Mark's exceeded my expectations in their options. I had the jalapeño au gratin potatoes and they were amazing. Our service was fantastic. I regret that I can't remember her name but she was a very nice young lady. We then ordered the escargot appetizer. Bathed in garlic butter and topped with parmesan cheese. Fabulous!!! The crostini was a bit too hard for me, so I used the soft sourdough bread to soak up that garlic butter ..... much better !!! For dinner, my husband ordered the lamb chops, I ordered the wood grilled salmon with Beurre Blanc sauce and we shared a side of grilled asparagus. We went to a financial planning seminar on 8-21-25 and my wife ordered the Samon within 30 min she was getting sick and we left . As we were driving home she continued to get worse . I thought I was going to be going to the ER . She was sick all night . She called the restaurant the next day to report the incident and the manager refused to take any accountability. We were very excited to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary at Marks Prime, Ocala on February 17th thinking this would be special for our special day. Oh how disappointed we were! We are used to celebrating at Morton's or comparable. My husband's 11 ounce filet was like a hocky puck. My Bisque and Sea Bass were quite good but by the time our server checked on us I was nearly finished with my food so I could eat it hot. The Server offered to replace the filet but Hubby didn't want to eat alone on our Anniversary as it took about 45 minutes to make his first filet and we didn't want to wait another 45 minutes to let them try again to make it right as our celebration was ruined already. Our bill was $180 plus tip. No manager came by to talk to us to make things right. My hubby wrote a review however no one from the restaurant has responded to date. This place is top notch. The servers are very personable and dressed black and white. The place settings are meticulously set on linen table cloths so it's a quality experience. I was traveling and felt like treating myself... So I returned to dine alone... The ambience and atmosphere would be Great for a special date. Prices are very high. Portions are not huge, expensive sides are fresh quality and seem large but shallow dishes. I have dined here twice. The first time I had the filet mignon which was delicious! This time I had a cheese burger. I wanted American cheese but they only offer cheddar, Swiss.... They don't give you sides you purchase them separately- but burger comes with fries. I asked to substitute my fries for mashed potatoes... my very capable server understanding I wanted mashed - A full side of mashed potatoes is $10... Instead of substituting they gave me a half portion of mashed potatoes and charge me $5 so I paid normal and I never got the fries. To me that was not fair business practice, nobody asked me if I wanted the fries - technically I paid for them. I took half of everything to go. The server had her own business card for the establishment and gave it to me offering me to return. That's pretty cool. My burger flavor was OK. Not the best flavor I ever had, size of the burger was not very big for $22 - so I can't rate a 5 star. The ambience I'd rate a 5 star but the fact I paid $60 for this dinner felt slightly high all considered. I did leave a 16.50 tip. The bill was 44.something. Came here for our Christmas Eve dinner w a party of 5. We had a reservation for outside since they had nothing to else left. It was in the thirties so we were cold even with the heater lamps. The food & service made up for it though! I was pleasantly surprised how amazing the food was here! I'm a steakhouse connoisseur & live for a good filet cooked to perfection w yummy brussels. The filets all came out cooked to a perfect medium as we ordered. Nicely charred on the outside and very flavorful. Even though my particular filet was a little chewy I couldn't complain because the flavor was sooo juicy and delicious. Mashed potatoes were perfect, not too creamy and perfect flavor. Brussels we're cooked to PERFECTION as well! Not overly mushy but not undercooked like some places serve them. They were cooked with onion and I coulda licked the bowl. I'm a spicy margarita lover and was excited to see a spicy marg on the menu but they were out of jalapeños. I tried my husbands old fashioned that was infused w coffee. This is a high-end steakhouse in Ocala Florida. We were celebrating my aunts 70th birthday party so it was in a private room with dedicated wait staff. The food was very good. We had a choice of filet mignon, salmon or chicken. The filet mignon was delicious tender could cut it with a butter knife for our sides. We had mashed potatoes, vegetable medley, cream spinach, everyone seemed to really enjoy it. The restaurant has valet parking which I highly recommend using otherwise you will be walking two blocks to find parking. It is also located within walking distance of other small restaurant and eateries. if visiting Ocala again, I would definitely recommend this restaurant. We came here for my husband's birthday and he said it was one of his best birthday dinners ever. We started with the burrata caprice which was really tasty with the added pesto. The bread came out perfectly warm and we had to push it away to stop eating it. He got the 11oz filet, lobster Mac n cheese, and mashed potatoes. I got the 7oz filet and twice baked potato. We also got the herbed butter and brandy peppercorn sauce, which was a really nice touch. Meat was prepared to our request and very flavorful. We finished with the chocolate paradise mousse and wow it was perfect! My husband said he would come back for that desert alone. Our waitress was so sweet and knowledgeable. I have been here several times when visiting town. This is my Dad's favorite restaurant and he has one of the coveted wine lockers where he keeps his bottles for each meal. He is there at least once per week. I, however, think it's good but not great. Service was overall good, but a little slow to get beverages going. They were busy so I give them that. My Dad had ordered a steak tartare for the table to share for the four who wanted it. You do have to order that 24 hours in advance. It received rave reviews. I failed to get a photo of that and several other dishes. My sister had a cup of chowder that she really enjoyed. There were several steak choices amongst the group including filets, strips and lamb chops for my son. For the table we had a chopped salad, a wedge salad, risotto, au gratin potatoes, mashed potatoes, French fries, asparagus, and mushrooms. The fresh baked bread with soft butter is delicious!! Honestly that was my favorite part of the meal. The food was good. There were some really good things and some just OK, but not outstanding things. My husband says he has enjoyed some of these types of steak houses better in our travels. The one cool thing they do is serve the steaks on warm plates which everyone thought was a nice touch. They offer steaks, seafood and veggies. You can bring your own wine for a corkage fee but they have a nice list. Full bar too. The Food is superb! We were in town to get our Range Rover serviced at the Jaguar Land-rover dealership & decided to have dinner here. It was PHENOMENAL!!! The appetizer crab cakes come 3 to a serving with a lemon burre blanc sauce. Superb! Even better than the crab cakes at Delmonico's in Orlando borlando. I got a 11 ounce filet that was PERFECTION! It was a beautifully thick cut, they seared it beautifully. It was cooked to perfection! Hubby loved his Delmonico ribeye but when he tasted mine he said it was melt in your mouth amazballs! He wants to order the filet next time too! :)... We got a peppercorn sauce and a Beranaise sauce that was crafted perfectly. They nailed it like a real french chef! My goodness, both of them were 2.die.4! :)... They have escargot on the menu and tons of our french favorites, just like a fabulous french bistro. We initially were not interested in trying this restaurant because the average rating for reviews were mediocre. As I further explored the reviews, I realized they were great reviews for the most part with some sour apples. We decided to try Mark's for our wedding anniversary dinner. Hubs made reservations and I had a client cancel so we headed there earlier. It was no issue and the hosts seated us immediately. We would not have minded either way. Ian was our server and was amazing. We started with a round of cocktails. Ian was very helpful with answering any questions we had, as well as making excellent and honest suggestions. Ian even offered us to try the JLohr Zinfandel and we fell in love with it. Unfortunately, I have been unable to locate it in any stores. I wanted to try so many items on the menu but I knew I wanted surf & turf for my entree. If I ordered anything else, I know I would not finish my dinner. Hubs and I have been on a French Onion Soup kick for years so we usually order that. I must say, the French Onion soup at Mark's is one of the best we have had in years. I have become very aversive towards salt/sodium so I was satisfied there was not an abundance in their soup. Hubs also ordered the chopped salad. He is not so much of a salad person but he ordered it so I can try it as well. It was very good but I would definitely 86 the eggs. I ordered the Surf and Turf with a petit filet. I added bleu cheese topping as well. Hubs ordered just a filet. We also split brussel sprouts, which were perfect. The only minor complaint I had was the lobster tail was too chewy and tough. I prefer my lobster tail to be very tender and having it "melt in your mouth". I actually finished my entree! Ian provided the dessert menus. We ordered espresso and Ian offered dessert on him for our anniversary! How nice was that! Plus, as you can see in the picture, Happy Anniversary was displayed on the dessert! Hello all, a little background. I used to travel the world for 40 years. I retired 4 years ago. Prior to retirement, I would go out of my way to find the BEST steak place in any town I was in. It was a sort of game. It was great fun. I just traveled again for the first time since then, so STEAK was the order of business. I was in the Historic Part of Downtown Ocala, FL. I found Mark's Prime Steakhouse within a 2 minute walk from my hotel. I first looked at the Yelp reviews, then went there. I ended up eating at Mark's on Tuesday and Thursday evening. I found this place to have a great vibe. As stated, I ate here two nights. Allow me to break it down. Food: I was a single and I hate to waste food. I was able to get a half salad and a half potato dish. That was greats. I had the Wedge Salad with their homemade Blue Cheese dressing. The top of the salad was layered with crispy bacon just the way I like it. It was GREAT. I was asked if I would like some break and the answer was YES. If just came out of the oven. Perfect. The first dinner I got a 20 0z Bone in Ribeye. It was great however they suggested having it cooked Pitsburg style which has a nice burnt crust on the outside. I ordered it Med rare + and it was slightly over cooked. Still, it was OUTSTANDING. The next evening, I had a Delmonico steak and I ordered it RARE, and it was exactly the way I wanted it. Atmosphere: It gives the look and feel of a fine steak house which is what it is. Both nights I got there as they opened and was seated in a both which I truly appreciated. Service: Excelent and just the way we all want to be treated. Both nights the servicers knew their stuff. The second time my service might have attempted to push some add on a bit too hard, but I respected her for the. Value: This place is expensive. This is a relaxing experience not and every night or every week experience unless you are quite wealthy. All I will say is after you eat here, you will look forward toward to the next time as I did. My husband and I have been looking forward to eating at Marks Steakhouse in Ocala for our last night in Florida. We both were dressed in very nice shorts. When we approached the manager he asked if we had a reservation, which we did not. However, they were not busy. The manager said well obviously you are dressed for the bar or patio.
