Stopped here for lunch today! We really enjoyed everything we ate. Started our order with onion rings, they were crispy but not greasy and the ranch dip was delicious and not over powering. Then we split a grilled chicken, mushroom and Swiss sandwich either curly fries. Boy, glad we did I could not finish my half because I was too full, but everything tasted good. I so badly wanted to love this restaurant, but I don't and I can't. Whenever someone posted asking about the best burgers in Ocala, the answer was overwhelmingly Terry's. We had to see what we were missing, so we made the 45 minute trek to this unpretentious building on 36th Avenue in Ocala. The parking lot was full and we had to park way in the back on sand. That was a great sign! The restaurant is much bigger inside than it looks from the outside and with all the cars it didn't feel crowded as we expected. We were greeted and seated immediately. The place was clean and the menu extensive. I ordered the burger and my husband had a fish sandwich. The portion of the fish that was served was huge, but not cooked long enough in my husband's opinion. The burger was more bun than meat. Also, it had an odd taste which I compared to hamburgers served in a school cafeteria. Maybe because the burgers had been so hyped I was just bound to be disappointed. Great local spot which had a good crowd. I had the cheeseburger special which was good, cooked perfectly and tasty. Lots of beer choices on tap and friendly service. And very reasonably priced! I went with a group of a dozen people on a Sunday afternoon. They don't take reservations but there was room and we were seated immediately. The wait staff was prompt and efficient. Terry's is known for large portions and didn't disappoint there. That's the good news. They have a nice menu with lots of good choices ... I chose a South West Burger... how can you go wrong? When the burger was served it was close to room temperature. I have found that many of the restaurants I have been to in Florida don't serve the food hot so it's not just them. I could have sent it back but I didn't. It was huge and the bun was huge. The bun was so huge that I was tearing off pieces of it so that I could taste the hamburger. The hamburger, ordered medium, was more medium well and was very dry. The fries were reasonably hot and the best part of the meal. Onion rings were good. FYI the hamburgers do not come with fries and are ordered separately. There was enough that I took some home and reheated it. Hot it was improved but nothing I could do about the dry meat. Lots of potential here with a little more attention to detail. Would I go back? Iffy ... but if I did would definitely order something else. Least I forget ... The rolls that they serve before the meal were hot and outstanding. read more

Our food was horrible, bland and tasteless. The service was sub par. We had to repeat ourselves many times, at least 3 times. We ordered a rum runner, it came out banana yellow and tasting like orange juice, we told the waitress it wasn't a rum runner but she insisted it was. And award winning tenders? Nope. The tenders were completely tasteless. Zero flavor. The steak was also tasteless. We asked for A1 to mask the bad flavor and we got some bad also bland spicy barbecue sauce. We also ordered the romaine Caesar salad and only after 20 minutes we were told they don't have romaine lettuce. We will never come back. read more

The first thing is, if you are of a darker complexion, you are not welcomed there. The server seemed angry that she had to serve me. Her name tag was Megan. Once I sat down, an extended amount of time passed prior to placing an order. The server delivered what they called food and I never saw her again. At the end, I had to hunt down the server to pay and leave. The other staff at the register would not assist me. I do not recommend this place no matter your complexion. read more

4/2/24. My first time here. Was visiting some family in the area and we wound up here for dinner one night. I ordered a steak and baked potato with a salad on the side. Food was excellent and the wait staff was better than many upscale restaurants I've been to. Service was excellent as well as the value for your money. It's a very casual bar/restaurant with plenty of televisions and a good place to watch a game while enjoying some food and/or drinks. When I visit the area again, I'll definitely return. read more

My wife went to Terry after advice from a friend. Dinner, We ordered Rib eyes. We got our salad but it was one hour and five min. before we got our meat. Restaurant was very noisy. Our waitress was very sorry for our wait. We decided to take the food out since my ear piece noise stoppers could help. Got home, We had ordered Med. steaks. They were very well done and one half inch or less thick. shoe leather. However, our dog did not complain at all. sorry folks. dont know if we will try again. this ended up about as bad as the Waterfront Bar and Grill on Lake Eustis. Our first time here, 08/24, and let me tell you this place is definitely a MUST. We've been down here a year now, Ocala has so many different places to try when it comes to food. I've been reading the comments on the Ocala Word of Mouth fb page for this place and we just happened to be in that area so decided to check it out. We really like mom and pop places (hope you don't mind being referred to as that, just means great place), they have best food, people and atmosphere. We were there just after 12 for lunch, parking lot was busy and wasn't exactly sure if there would be tables open inside simply because wasn't sure how big it was inside with this being our first time there. Several tables available, great! We sat down and it wasn't too long before Pam came with our menus and took drink orders. There was a good crowd for lunch. My husband ordered the Fried Fish with 3 pieces and onion rings, which came with a good size salad. I ordered the Mushroom Swiss Burger (1/2 lb of meat). Again, not knowing its just the burger. Pam brought out the salad and rolls, we shared the salad, definitely enough for 2. Pam then brought our entrees, I believe our eyes probably looked like they were going to pop out because of the size. I understand why no side comes with their burgers, HUGE. My husband wished he had only got the 2 piece fish then but no biggie he would have leftovers. I would also have leftovers with my burger. He had a pile of onion rings under the fish. All we could say was, WOW! After getting our to go boxes from Pam she told us, next time you come, order fries and they're enough for 2-3 people. Big shout out to Pam for taking excellent care of us and we will DEFINITELY be back again. My wife and I went there for the first, and certainly last, time on Sunday, January 26. The place was packed, so I figured I must be on to something. We got sat right away, but didn't have a waitress come over for about 10 minutes. We placed our order, some wings, chicken straps, fries and onion rings. Now came the wait. Almost an hour before the food came out, and we never saw the waitress in that hour. The food, with the exception ​of the chicken strips arrived. 10 minutes later the chicken strips arrived. The food was very oily, indicating the fryer wasnt up to temp. The waitress, who we didnt see very much, apologized saying the tickets were taking an hour because they were so busy. We only ate about 25% of our food because we were hungry. The worst dining experience i may have ever had as i actually have nothing positive to say. This place is so underrated. Visited as a party of 8 and the food was amazing! The homemade bread used for the sandwiches and burgers is soo good. We were advised to order one kids meal for the two little ones to share and boy, was it a lot of food! We ordered the shrimp po boy, cheeseburger, fish dinner and kids meal. All delicious.
