Unfortunately for me I was looking for a brewery experience and Big Hammock is not that. They do have a good amount of local craft beers on tap which is a definite plus. They just didn't have any of their own beer. Maybe they are brewing, but if they are not, they should change the brewery in their name to brew pub because the name is definitely misleading. It is really awkward making this review, because I really did not get the full experience. I walked in, looked around, checked out the beer menu, asked if they had any of their own beers. When that answer was "no" I left. The end.

It was packed when we were there, but we were able to find 2 seats at the bar, which was perfect. We got to watch the short order magic happening in that tiny kitchen. Because we got to watch the food prep, we ended up ordering several dishes to split. I'd call it Asian fusion. We had a ramen bowl, some bao buns. It's a nice vibe. Murals on the wall, and doors that roll up for inside/outside service when the weather is nice. They do offer food takeout, so if you can't find a seat, have a beer while they put your food together to eat at home.

Welcome to one of Ocala's little gems…read more Anyone who has grown up here can attest to the ch-ch-ch-changes happening in Ocala at the moment and for us youngsters, it's exactly what was needed. A supremely casual brewery in the middle of downtown Ocala with the best kind of parking around (free parking!). With a selection of over 25 brews unique to IAW, one cannot go wrong. From light and crisp to sour perfection to hazy and bitter--they've got it all. Come by yourself, come with friends, come with your dog--no matter who, you'll feel welcomed and comfortable at IAW. The staff is great and lovely to chat with (Aaron, I'm talking about you!) Some nights they have live music and others a jukebox for your music monopoly tendencies--they even have food trucks sometimes! If you're living here or just passing through, come by Infinite Ale Works! It's a must try.

So I went to this establishment for what was advertised as an Oyster festival. Needless to say…read morewhen I arrived at 6pm I was told the festival sold out at 2pm that day even though the event was advertised as being from 11-9pm. so I decided to sit at the bar and have a drink. First I was in line behind someone being help at the register on the other end of the bar. The waitress helped the gentleman and then left the register as if she was handling some other things behind the bar, never returning to take my order, even passing by me several times. Taking orders around the bar. Then A young couple walked up behind me and were helped by the gentleman behind the bar, I assumed he had been helping them before because they were discussing how much alcohol was in a particular beer and weather or not the underage young women could legal drink it based on the alcohol , Now I'm still standing there, yet no one asked to take my order or if I needed anything! Two people finish eating and left so I took one of the seats at the end of the bar beside where I was standing . I watched while the lady lady bartender finished her shift and left and another bartender took her place, upon staring her shift she went straight to help the large group of gentleman at the bar with drinks, so I told myself maybe they have been waiting just as long as I have , yet when she finished with their drinks she walked right past me sitting there with a menu in hand! The final straw was seeing the gentleman with the beard come and take orders from two groups of people standing right beside me , where I previously was and he never attempted to take my order! I won't even mention me looking up and catching a a gentleman staring at me, like literally hard staring at me!! I don't like to make assumptions however I can only assume I was not a welcome sight in this establishment due to me being a black woman!!! I'm in Ocala for a travel assignment and I can say experiencing something like I did at this place yesterday tells me all I need to know about this area! To all my brown people stay clear of this establishment I've included pictures so there is no confusion about the individuals!

We've been to alot of places…read moreback in tampa and orlando with same vibes so was so excited when something like it opened up here in ocala...but was left disappointed. First, the chef greeted almost everyone but us which was quite disappointing. Second, my order was messed up. I did told them i touched it since i thought it looked like my dish with the scallops yet the waiter still picked it up and serve to another table. Our food also took a long time to come out..water took a long time to get refilled along with the napkins and our wine did not come out until way later. Third, our bill was messed up as well. So definitely be cautious. Also, pro tip is it is cheaper if you pay in cash. We did try new stuff such as kangaroo tartare..definitely was a hit but crab fondue was ok as well as the pastas. You could definitely make them at home. The lobster pasta was too overpowering with garlic and there was barely any duck in the duck and pork pasta. For Ocala, i would say okay if you wanted to give fine dining a try. I just would not be back due to how we were treated, all the mess ups and underwhelming food for what we paid for. I do have to give props to the scallops. It was nicely cooked ( still soft, and could melt in your mouth).

The server gave great recommendations regarding the food, wine, and dessert. He was very upbeat and made sure he checked on us just enough. The chef also came out to greet us as we finished our meal. I could tell he talks to his regular customers because he spent a few minutes at another table having friendly conversation. My mom and I decided on the wine pictured below. It was very smooth. We both loved that it went well with our meals and dessert. The serve this truffle and Parmesan popcorn to start. Delicious! We also ordered the seafood empanadas. They are served with queso and pepper sauces. The empanadas are so rich and the flavor is amazing. I had the filet with asparagus and fondant potatoes. The filet was a bit overcooked but still amazing. It was perfectly seasoned and I could cut it with a butter knife. The fondant potatoes were perfectly cooked. It had this really good truffle sauce on top. The asparagus was more of a garnish but it was perfectly cooked. My mom had the bison filet with duchess potatoes. She loved it. She reported it was perfectly cooked. It was a pretty hefty portion. We shared the chocolate cake. It is not a very big dessert but we had eaten our meals and drank wine. It was served with blueberry compote and Tillamook ice cream. The cake was perfect. Rich but not too sweet or dense. I do not normally like cooked fruit. And I have never thought to pair chocolate cake with blueberry compote. But my goodness the two went together so well! The ice cream made it even better. Now I know Ocala doesn't have a ton of fine dining. And yes. The price point of this place is a bit high. But it's a great treat for people like my mom and I who enjoy great food, service, and ambiance. I also want to point out the menu has some more adventurous options like kangaroo, python, boar, and other options that rotate. I pray this town doesn't let this place get shut down. I think they could keep the crowds coming by doing a tapas night, happy hour, or food and wine pairing event.

We found this spot when I searched for Shrimp Po Boy lunch and it looked very interesting. We drove over which was only about 8 minutes away from the market so very convenient to the market. Lots of parking so it was pretty easy to find a spot despite it being very busy. 28 beers on tap! So you can definitely find something you will enjoy if you're a fan of beer. The menu is large with lots of options and reminds me of a higher class of bar food. We started with a larger soft fresh baked pretzel that was plenty to share with our group of 3, it came with a really good beer cheese and some honey mustard dipping sauce. Really liked the pretzel and the dipping sauces found myself eating and dipping as I sipped on my chocolate coffee stout in a fun 10oz glass that made it very refreshing. We ordered our entrees as the music started back up and while the music was good it was so loud we could no longer have a conversation at our table without shouting so it would have been great if the volume was a bit lower since this was Sunday lunch not Friday night beers. The food arrived in stages as it is served as it became ready from the kitchen. First out was the blackened fish tacos my mom ordered. She said they were good but not spectacular, she ate just the fish out of one and took the rest home. Next out was our friend's bang bang shrimp and they looked amazing. The presentation was very nice and he offered one of them for me to try. Very crunchy batter and delicious sauce however it overwhelmed the shrimp and you could not taste them, which depending on how much you like shrimp could be a good thing or not. Next out was my shrimp po boy and why it looked good the ratio of shrimp to bread was way off. 3 maybe four whole shrimp to a huge bun. The shrimp were the same style as the bang bang shrimp just a different sauce. While the sandwich was good I basically took a few bites to get the whole experience and then just ate the few small bits of shrimp and left the bun. Maybe if I had not eaten the pretzel I would have liked all the bread as it did taste good but definitely not enough shrimp for its size. The chickpea salad was definitely the star of the entree as it had so much flavor and was amazing. Service was great and they were very attentive and offered samples of the beers if we wanted to try them. Highly recommended for beers and snacks but not sure I would recommend the seafood. I would like to go back and try the pizza and a few more beers!

I just love finding places that have a great vibe, good service and where I can feel comfortable and relaxed if I want to just sit and let myself breathe. For me this is often after an early morning workout so if you are one at 7am I'm very happy. I had passed by this place before when going to Tucsawilla Park which is directly across the street! That is a plus already because after you eat you may go enjoy a nice walk in the park and watch the ducks in the pond or go play Tennis if you'd like. Okay let's talk about "Midtown Station" this place is more than it lets on. There is ample parking for one so that's a bonus. You can sit outside and enjoy your breakfast if you'd like there are a few tables right outside and it's really quite lovely. When you go in there is a couple of places where you can sit comfortably and just relax as it's very quiet and feels so cozy. There are plants, games and very comfortable chairs and places to sit. Pillows and the most adorable decor that you'd think you were at home if it wasn't in such a large building. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating, willing to make and create your order to your specifications. They have a pretty large variety of things you can have from breakfast to lunch, coffees of all kinds, smoothies, matcha, lotus energy drinks, ice teas, Arnold Palmer and so much more! The food variety is fabulous ! I haven't seen this much variety in a place that basically open from 7-3 Monday through Thursday, Friday 7-3:30, Saturdays 8-3:30 and Sundays from 8-3 doing breakfast and lunch it seriously surprised me. There are breakfast bites, pastries, sub sandwiches, salads or wraps, sandwiches, Wayne's pasta salad plate ( now I'm curious lol ) , Tapas that looked incredible and build your own breakfast! I mean what more can you ask for! The interesting thing about this place is that in the back it's a whole other place that opens at 11:am Tuesday through Saturday and offers other foods and drinks! I must go back a do a review to find out more. There is huge indoor and outdoor sitting area to enjoy your time too! I highly recommend that on a beautiful Ocala day or if you happen to be passing by stop by and say hello. You will be very happy that you did, I know I will be going back to this little piece of heaven! My breakfast biscuits and gravy delicious and fresh! I brought home to my son bacon egg and cheese on toasted sourdough. Needless to say he thoroughly enjoyed every bite. I also brought home these two amazing cookies and I'm eating the chocolate chip one now while finishing my coffee and it's absolutely phenomenal. Great job Sipping Grounds at Midtown Station you guys are awesome!
