Such a cool vibe, very prohibition era. Quite and they only allow about 20ish people in. You must know the password to get in, and they have rules they go over once you walk in. The drinks were very good, the space is intimate and comfortable. Staff was fun and helpful. Definitely a must try if you are in the area.

Loved this (literally) hidden gem! The gentlemen serving were so great, the vibe was immaculate, the music was great, and the drinks were SO good. Definitely quality all around. Can't wait to go back!

Cute little speak-easy on the side of Ivy on the Square. You can get the "password" from their Facebook page or the Ivy might be kind enough to share. The place is small, lots of nice details and theme execution so it really and truly feels like you're in the prohibition era. There were so many good drink options- lots of creative concoctions conjured up. Overall it was the highlight of our trip.

This is Ivy on the Square's speak easy. You need to have a password. They post it on Facebook for access. If you get the password wrong, they will definitely deny you entry. It's such a cool place. The interior is beautiful and comfortable. The drinks are created by one of the bar managers. There are drinks for everyone. If one of the numerous drinks don't tickle your fancy, you can tell the bartenders your flavor profile and they will create something for you. I'm a bourbon drinker so I found the Zozzled-AF the best drink on the menu. It's not for the faint of heart. I would have this drink last as it's so liquor forward that it might destroy your palate (which was fine for me, because it was exactly what I wanted). Prices are great. Drinks are superb. Ambiance is priceless. Do yourself a favor and have this experience. Learn a little history about the place while you're here.

What a fun and exciting little speakeasy! The ambience really made you feel like you were back in the prohibition era during the 1920s. You'll need a password to enter, and if you don't have the correct one, you'll definitely be turned away. Overall the prices are great; the drinks are superb, so do yourself a favor and have this experience.

Very authentic-feeling speakeasy with chill, quiet, relaxed vibe. Awesome atmosphere and interesting drinks. I would ask the bartender for drink recommendations based on what you like (to be honest, I think we ordered wrong for our tastes). I don't recommend the Buzz unless you like extremely sweet drinks. The Kiss my Hibiscus drink was good if you like grapefruit a lot. We heard the Cat's Meow and Willy Wonky were good too!

Find daily password on Instagram or FB. Parking lot across the street. Not busy around opening. Great drink selection. Hands down one of the best bars in downtown Ocala. Picture is the Soul-less. A delightful vodka + honey/ginger combo. Bartenders have great personalities. 11/10 recommend.

Nestled in the basement below what looks like a vintage barbershop, this classy speakeasy transports you straight into an intimate live music lounge -- dim lighting, cozy seating, soulful music, and an atmosphere that feels like you've stepped back in time. What truly sets Zanzibar Blu apart is the personal touch from owner Kenneth Hunt who welcomes every guest as if you're stepping into his home. He's often there to help seat people, chat with patrons, and make you feel instantly comfortable. His vision for the space shines in every corner of the décor -- he handpicked authentic, fully functioning antiques and memorabilia (many of which he's said to have brought over from his childhood home in Philadelphia) that give the place a real story and personality. Live music is the heart of the experience here. There's always a mix of blues, talented local jazz musicians, and smooth sounds that keep the vibe lively yet relaxed. Whether you're celebrating a special night out or just craving something off the usual bar circuit of Daytona biker bars, Zanzibar Blu delivers. And if you're in town long enough, check out the Hunt House vacation rental upstairs -- Kenneth's other passion project that perfectly complements the speakeasy below. Highly recommend!!!

Plenty of pay by app parking nearby with this restaurant on the back side of the square. Immediately greeted by the hostess. We sat at the dining tables, but there's a bar area available as well. Seating was a blend of upholstered couch and chairs and was quite comfortable. Only complaint was it was kind of gross with dried on food, crusty bits and stains so had to try and ignore that. Management needs to increase regularity of checking and cleaning. Our waiter was very helpful and attentive. Ordered a couple of the krispy chicken, which is gluten-free because they use a gf rice crispy cereal to coat it. It's a pretty generous meal consisting of 1 chicken breast, corn/bean succotash, cornbread and another side. We had potatoes and cheese grits. The chicken and cornbread were pretty good. Chicken was cooked well and it was nice to have something that resembled fried chicken but gf. All the rest of the accompaniments were meh. Also ordered the caprese salad. Caprese was as expected but with some pesto drizzled on top and this made for a nice addition. Not sure we would return, but enjoyed the overall ambiance and service.

It was early evening and when I walked in I thought the decor was so adorable. Quaint and just really lovely. I was getting a good feeling and wondering why I never had stopped in here before since I love coming downtown and going to different places down here. The whole vibe to me is just very comfortable even though it can get busy there is something that makes you feel calm in this area. We were seated and I looked at the menu wanting steak and even though it was early they didn't have any ( rib eye ) Yes it was on the menu but that was ok, instead I chose a Wam burger and fries. To be honest I wasn't impressed. I asked for medium rare and my burger came out well done. It was a bit flavorless to me and the fries weren't even hot nor crispy. The service was just ok and when we had gone the restaurant hadn't even been very busy. I may give Ivy on the Square another try if I have a good reason. We will see. I wonder what you think. I was in Florida for a vacation to visit friends and family over the summer, and I found myself in…read moreOcala on a Monday evening in July. I was with my in-laws, and we were looking for a place to eat dinner in downtown while waiting for some other family to join us. It seems like on Mondays, there is not a ton open in the downtown Ocala area in terms of restaurants. This makes sense, but we chose to eat here primarily because it was open on a Monday, along with recommendations from those I was with. They had eaten here before, but it was my first time. The restaurant is located on a corner in downtown Ocala, near the square. Since it is in the city, there is no dedicated parking beyond what you find on the street. However, I have never had an issue finding parking in the general area when visiting this part of town, so unless it is a crowded evening or special event, you should have no issues. When we arrived, it was still early in the evening and we had no issue getting a table. As the night progressed, more people started coming in for their Bachelor viewing party. It seems like this draws a big crowd. They even announced that they were doing giveaways and other fun activities for the series season finale the following week. I imagine they hold other types of events as well, so that might be something to look out for if you are planning on stopping. We sat at a table near the front, and waited a couple minutes for the server to come by. She was, honestly, somewhat aggressive and not very kind. I tried to order a beer on the menu, and she went to make sure it wasn't out of stock. Then, I asked her about the Monday special on the menu, and she acted like she never even heard of it before. She stated that she didn't normally work on Mondays, but the manner in which this was communicated made it feel like it was my fault for inquiring about this. I ended up having a Garage Beer on tap, and it was serviceable. I also wanted to order the advertised $10 Grilled Cheese and Fries special, and got the D-Nice Way Grilled Cheese with this. I actually very much enjoyed the grilled cheese, but the fries were the star of the plate. They were crispy and crunchy, but not very thin. I had never had a fry quite like that! Would highly recommend giving them a try here at least once. Our food came out in a reasonable timeframe after we ordered. It was not too quick, but did not take forever, either. Besides what I mentioned previously, I was satisfied with the other service received. I thought the prices here, in general, were fair and on par with other restaurants that are similar. They run different specials during different days of the week, as outlined on the menu. For example, Monday is supposed to be $10 Grilled Cheese and Fries. I ordered this, but I am not confident I got it for this price. Someone I was with paid the bill, but the waitress did not seem to be aware of what this special actually was. So, if you are wanting to order a special, I would explicitly say that when ordering to be sure you get it. Overall, I enjoyed the vibes and the food at this place. It seems like they have activities several nights a week to bring in different crowds, along with specials on food and drinks. The service left a lot to be desired, as our waitress was not very friendly nor knowledgeable on the specials. I would be willing to give this another try, but hopefully with a different waitress.
