One word: Smoked Black Walnut Old Fashioned. A depth that can only be achieved if you work it like a craftsman. Thanks Eric. IYKYK.

I liked this place but after going a 2nd time I won't be back. The bartender was really rude, there's something weird about him, creepy, no thanks

Wow! Can't believe I live right around the corner from Fluid and just tried it for the first time the other week. Yummy cocktails! Very extensive cocktail menu. Their martinis are delicious. I love their raspberry fizz. The bartenders are very personable and knowledgable. Martinis are $5 on Tuesdays!!! Can't wait to go back!

My wife and I love Fluid. A very ultra lounge, with a Vegas type feel. During the week very chill, Friday and Saturday are hoping. Getting a seat can be challenging, worth the wait. Fun local hangout.

Pretty impressed overall. Fluid is a sleek, modern, classy lounge with (at least tonight) a DJ spinning tunes and a lively crowd. Their focus and point of pride is whiskey drinks and especially an ample selection of Bourbons and other American whiskeys. Their selection of single-malt Scotches is one of the better ones in town, as well, even including the Scapa-14 which, while not exactly rare per se, isn't often found in even the better of local bars. Clearly, Fluid has jumped on the whole craft cocktails trend full force, and that's overall a good thing. Where they differ from bars doing the same general thing downtown is their client base: here, in Tioga, it's more your middle-aged (though still youngish) professional set in polos and Gator tees than your hipsters. I actually had delayed going here for some time fearing I'd be under-dressed in jeans, a tee (even if a Comme or Gosha tee) and Converse but you'll see gents in shorts, a Gators hoodie and flip-flops so . . . not so much. Other folks do dress up though and the atmosphere of the lounge really tends to suggest doing so: it's dark, posh, and alluring if a tad bit impersonal (it reminded me a bit of a hotel bar in a nicer boutique hotel, honestly). As to the service, the bartender who served me was very prompt, polite, and made a good if a tad bit sweet Sazerac. Looking around, many patrons however were just drinking beer . . . and this when World of Beer is literally next door. Odd. I would recommend Fluid, certainly, and I think they'll be a hit. The West Side needs something like this and Tioga is as good a place as any given how spread out the West of Gainesville is: if you're in Thornbrook, you're really as close to downtown as Tioga; if you're in Tioga, you're still a far piece from Haile Plantation. Whomever planned Gainesville circa the 1960s when this expansion began ought to be clobbered upside the head with his T-square. Some of the worst sprawl for a college town ever, but that's fully another tale there.

Gin fizz (looks more like a pina colada) and bramble

I have no idea what these other yelpers are reviewing but fluid was nothing like any previous reviews... I came on a Thursday night, ladies night, so all classic cocktails were half off. They were blasting music that I would expect to hear at an 8th grade dance from about 10 years ago. Drinks all sounded delicious but we're just poorly executed. We got a bramble and gin fizz. The bramble had way too much blackberry liqueur added to it so it was overly sweet and syrupy. The gin fizz is typically shaken for an extended period of time to completely emulsify the egg whites and cream but we watched the bartender only give it a light shake. He also added way too much cream so it tasted more like a pina colada. Overall has great potential but definitely had to work on bartender training and get a new DJ asap!

The wings were flavorful, well-seasoned, and hit the spot, and the fries were crispy and satisfying, simple but solid. That said, when my friends' seafood boils came out, wow. The smell alone was incredible rich, buttery, and seasoned perfectly. I couldn't resist trying a few bites, and I'm glad I did. The potatoes and broccoli were especially good, soaking up all that seasoning, and the seafood itself tasted fresh and well-cooked. You could tell this is really where they shine. The portions were generous, the food came out hot, and it's definitely a fun, casual spot to go with friends. The atmosphere feels laid-back and social, which makes it great for group dinners. While my non-seafood order was good, seeing (and tasting) the boils made me want to come back and try a full seafood meal next time. Overall, a solid spot with great flavor, especially if you're a seafood lover. I'd absolutely return and next time, I might just give in and get my own boil.

We arrived later on a Saturday night craving hibachi and sushi, and it definitely hit the spot. I ordered the steak hibachi with fried rice, and my husband went with the lobster roll. My meal started with a cup of miso soup and if you follow our adventures you know I love miso. They did not disappoint. It was hot, flavorful, and tasted freshly made with good ingredients. For a drink I ordered a Long Drink. We first tried these at a local festival and fell in love, so when we saw a citrus flavor we had never tried before we were excited to order it. My hibachi came out hot and smelled amazing. The steak was cooked perfectly and the sauce mixed into the rice was really good. I do wish they gave just a little extra sauce for the rice. The rice itself was a bit stiff, but the sauce helped a lot. We also came about an hour before closing, so we were not too bothered by that. Our waitress was good, and her coworker stepped in to help when she was busy, which we appreciated. I also liked that you can see the sushi chefs working right there, and my husband really enjoyed his roll. The restaurant was very clean, including the bathrooms, which always matters. I also have to mention the water because it actually tasted good. If you know, you know how rare that can be. They also have plenty of parking, which makes things easy. Overall we had a great experience and it was the perfect spot for a much needed date night.

I learned the black Fried Rice with chicken supposed to be more healthy than regular Fried Rice for you. It was very very good! My wife got the spicy seafood soup, which was very good.I tried a little bit of that as well. I can see why all the reviews were really good. Its definitely one of my top 3 now!!

For me to leave a review this negative, the service truly had to be poor. Last night, we chose this place to celebrate my Irish heritage with a green beer and some light food. There is plenty of parking and outdoor seating, which is a plus. However, when we arrived, there was a line of people waiting for a table, and it quickly turned chaotic. One woman tried to cut the line, and another wanted to argue over a small booth that her family wouldn't have even fit in. Eventually, we were seated. I understand that holidays can be busy, so we were trying to be patient. Our waiter came over, dropped off menus, said "I'll be right back," and disappeared. After 25 minutes of waiting at the table, I had to flag down another waitress. Meanwhile, at least three tables that were seated after us already had drinks and had placed their food orders. I understand being busy, but at the very least, we should have been greeted or offered drinks. The waitress we flagged down said she would help us, which seemed promising at first, but then we waited another 20 minutes just for drinks. I'm not sure if it was an understaffing issue or something else, but the service was extremely poor. We considered leaving a one-star review, but the waitress did seem like she was trying. The food was okay, we ordered light items, and it still took quite a while to arrive. Overall, we would recommend skipping this place. There are plenty of other options in town that will treat you better. We work hard, and when we go out, we expect at least standard service.

I was blessed with this amazing restaurant to have right downstairs so I'm going to tell you why I think so highly of it. Atmosphere/Appearance: The restaurant is so modern, chic, bright and fun. The décor is lovely and very thought-through. The restaurant spans half of the hotel's lobby with the bar area being right near the front desk, but the dining area directly on the opposite end. There's access to outdoor seating as well if you're feeling it. Service: So throughout my stay at the hotel, Kayla, Thomas and Desiree took care of me for breakfast. They were all amazing at making me feel truly special, almost like royalty. I remember Thomas's bubbly personality, Desiree's talkative spirit and Kayla's ability to cater to everything I needed. I appreciated every one of them. Frederick took care of me at the bar for the one dinner I had and he was awesome. He made me feel like he was a friend of mine whom just happened to be working there. Lol. Food: Breakfasts first. The first thing I ever ordered were the breakfast tacos. They're warm, soft tortillas served with scrambled eggs or egg whites, (I chose traditional scrambled eggs), with a choice of bacon, sausage or chorizo, (I went with all 3), topped with shredded cheese and pico de gallo. You can get breakfast potatoes or a side of fruit to go with the 2 tacos. They were fabulous. The only thing they were missing was some sort of salsa to throw on top. The pico just wasn't enough. This dish was certainly filling. Next breakfast entrée was the Street Corn Hash, which is a bed of chorizo corn hash and black beans topped with 2 eggs of any kind (I had scrambled), cotija cheese, cream and several slices of avocado. This was DELICIOUS. The chorizo was decently spicy, the eggs were fluffy and the whole mixture went together very well. It's much less messy to eat compared to the tacos and of course... I added some hot sauce to it. Lol. Like the tacos. They just need some sauces man. My next and favorite breakfast entrée (I got it 3 times during my visit) is the Superfood Bowl. This is such a beautiful looking, sweet tasting, healthy feeling, spirit lifting dish complied of acai puree paired with coconut milk & chia seed pudding, sliced banana, shredded coconut and crunchy granola. Like I said, this was SO GOOD and literally made me feel so good throughout the entire day. So I did stop by the bar one of the evenings to check out some of the dishes and here's how that went. I tried both their Mahi Tacos and Pork Tacos since the bar was slow. Usually you get an order of 2 with one or the other, but the kitchen hooked me up with one of each. I genuinely appreciated that. Each of the tacos are are compiled of grilled corn tortillas, a red onion-lime slaw, cilantro and the meat of your choice served with a barbecue creama or ranch. They were both decent, but the mahi came out just a little dry. The pork was much better. The wings I had really aren't even worth mentioning. They were okay, but I feel like they were on the menu simply because they're a popular table appetizer. They're just fried and tossed in some sauce, not my favorite. All-in-all, the breakfast here was superior to dinner. Value: Pretty good to be honest. Nothing too crazy here and everything is worth what it's priced at. Breakfast Tacos = $11.00 Street Corn Hash = $13.00 Superfood Bowl = $14.00 Wings = $9.00 Tacos = $14.00 In conclusion, I LOVED this place for its breakfast. Even if I weren't staying here, I'd come here to have their breakfast. JUST GET SOME SALSA IN THERE! Lol.
