This unassuming small pub is great. They have great fish and chips and even have malt vinegar as a condiment. The fish breading was crispy on the outside and was not oily. The chips were like steak fries but that is comparable to what UK chips taste like. The onion rings were also crispy and delicious. We came on a Saturday and apparently they have karaoke starting at 8 pm. The server was friendly and very helpful. This place is casual like a pub should be. With all of the restaurants and bars across Gainesville, I was surprised to find out there is a British pub tucked into the quiet and quaint Haile Village. I checked it out with two friends on a Saturday night. The restaurant itself is pretty small and it was packed around 7 PM, making it actually quite loud. In fact, if you're looking for quiet conversation, this isn't the place to have it. Their menu features all the classic pub food you would expect but we decided to try the three most British food items on the menu: bangers n mash, shepherd's pie, and the fish and chips. My friends said the bangers n mash and shepherd's pie tasted good. My fish and chips was a little disappointing, as the chips were literally just frozen fries thrown into a deep fryer, no further seasoning or presentation. The fish was two thickly-battered pieces but one of them seemed like it was mostly batter and not really any fish at all. So the actual portion size was lacking. The fried mushrooms were interesting because they were large in size but small in portion for the price. but I wishSaturday night they had karaoke which got the place pretty rocking. Overall it was a good experience checking out Queen's Arm and I would probably go back to revisit their bar scene. read more

Had this on my radar for awhile now, and friend does karoake there at night , had been meaning to get out here to try some traditional English style food, and was not disappointed, wife had fish and chips, loved it, i had chicken kebob, was amazing!! The lady running the bar, waiting tables, basically doing it all, was amazing as well, she deserves a raise, never had to wait for anything, she came by and checked on us periodically. My wife ordered a piece of pecan pie, she said it was the best she had in this area in a long time!! Visiting our kids in Gainesville this weekend and we were looking for a great place to watch the Ireland vs Wales 6 Nations rugby match early Saturday morning. Found this place online and learned there was also a farmers market there every Saturday morning. First off- what a CUTE area! Our oldest is graduating from UF this May and we'd never ventured out to Haile. The farmers market was truly one of the best with great local produce, baked goods, food, and even local ranch raised meat. After a quick stroll through the market, we went in for breakfast at the cafe connected to the Queen's Arms. Had a wonderful breakfast before heading next door to the pub where we grabbed a pint while watching Ireland destroy Wales- which our daughter and her friends, who studied abroad in Dublin last spring, LOVED! We are coming up again next weekend for our younger son's family weekend and plan to hit the farmers market, cafe, and pub again next Saturday to catch the Ireland Vs. France Six Nations rugby match. So glad we've found this place and that we have two more years of visiting our youngest to enjoy it. read more

This place is great. Marcel is wonderful and she seem to be the only person working. The blonde bartender was extremely rude when i walked up to the bar asking for some salt. She couldn't be bothered apparently. The food was great. Outside of standing around waiting for someone to seat or serve, I'd come back. You get a LOT for your money here! I've been coming here for my iced lattes about 3-4 times a week for over a month now because the quality of these lattes are better than any other place here in Gainesville. This place has been a fixture in Haile for many years now and I'd never tried it until I got take-out one Friday evening. No interest at all in hanging at a bar chock full of unmasked people, in Florida, in these "challenging" times, I ordered fish and chips, couple orders of wings (BBQ and hot), and onion rings. The bistro right next door does their food prep, and I was really impressed!! No one but me appeared to be masked, including staff, so beware if you're at high risk or unvaccinated. For around $8 the fish and chips was outstanding. When they say a "plank" of cod, they mean it, I mean it was a good 4" wide and 10" long and came with a fresh, homemade tartar sauce (could tell because the lemon juice tasted fresh without that distinct preservative aftertaste of shelf stable ones). Chips were skin on and tasty. Wings were good sized and came with what appeared to be homemade ranch and bleu cheese dressings for dipping. Onion rings were more like a meal than a pub appetizer and were great. The sriracha and ranch dipping sauce provided had a kick and was delicious. A plus, ask for extra sauce, you will get it. Once the pandemic finally blows over, or the virus becomes endemic like the flu, I look forward to stopping by on a less crowded day for drinks on top of the excellent food. read more

I came here for the fish and chips, and I was not disappointed! Located in the cozy Haile Village, the Queens Arms should not be missed! A very nice, but small parking lot. My car had plenty of room, but there are not many slots, but there is back door feeds right into the dining room restaurant - solid wooden chairs with silverware-clad tables ready for hungry people. You walk by the delicous dessert counter, with made-from-scratch, eye-popping delights, to get to the other side, that is more bar than restaurant. There are lots of TVs for watching sports, a few booths and tables, with a high bench along the back wall, with nice stools that make you feel imortant, because you are sitting so high! There are lots of flags and decor of a British pub, so it is a nice change from regular bars. The service was prompt, and our server took the time to tell us how all the food is hand made to order. You can tell the batter on the haddock was handmade, and it was a huge piece of fish! It was so good, I forgot to take a pic of it! Wow!! The "chips" were french fries, but malt vinegar taste with my Guinness made me forget about this little detail. The fish and chips meal can be a half plate, and comes with a choice of salads. It was Greek for me. Tasty fresh food, great beer, good atmosphere, and smooth stout on draft, of course! Highly reccommend!! read more

Went a few months ago my review was so negative it got deleted. Worst service ever .. Blonde bartender was rude .. walked past me multiple times and never took my order and was rude to the others in the group and this was THE SECOND TIME with the same experience. I find the positive reviews hard to believe. There is also an unwelcoming deliverance type of vibe from the locals that go there on a regular basis. I drive by because I live in Haile and it looks closed. I hope it is and they get owners that know how to hire because Im never going back until that happens! read more

I reviewed this on the Bistro's site, but it doesn't seem right to not give the Queen's Arms its own review. So, here it goes again. There are some ups and downs. The Queen's Arms is terrific if you're looking for a traditional British meal and some great beer, but if you're looking for fast service and flashy bartenders..... This isn't your place. I have eaten here a number of times and have to say the bangers and mash, fish & chips, and the meat pies are authentic and delicious. Second to none in this area. The service leaves a little to be desired, but honestly when I come here it's not to be doted on. It's to eat good food that's really bad for me, drink excellent beer, play darts, all while watching English football on the television. One tip. Don't wear your Manchester United shirt. So glad we explored at this bar and grill, located in a very trendy part of Hailes Plantation. The business front is very well done with outside seating and smoking. Queens Arm is attached to a bistro, and you can gain access for either thru one door. The inside is decorated in your standard British decorations, seating at the bar, several booths, free standing tables, high top tables and a couple high top tables with a bench seat running the whole length of the north wall. Offers many tap beers, and a full liquor bar. Menu is limited due to the virus crap, but I had bangers and mash with mixed veggies. My wife had a burger medium rare. Oh my. Food was great. Her burger was cooked perfectly, tasted great, and the bacon jam on top was a bonus. And for an added kick, lets throw a fried green tomato on there. The bangers and mash were good, sausage had great flavor, smashed taters and gravy were as you would expect. Only con is they didn't give enough gravy, had to ask for a side. But that's usually the case anywhere I've gone. George Gomez provided live sing along favorites and was actually pretty good. Bottom line, you should check this place out. Cheers. read more

The pub is a Haile Plantation hangout. It can get busy even during the week, attracting an older, more 'conservative' crowd. Others might not feel totally welcome. We showed up one Tuesday night for Happy Hour when the place was packed. But the bartender said, "Sorry, Happy Hour is Wednesday through Monday only." Really? So we came back the following Wednesday when the place was elbow-to-elbow again. But the bartender said, "Sorry, you just missed Happy Hour." So we paid full price for a couple of Guiness drafts, which the bartender did not pour correctly. They were about ten bucks apiece. So we scratched this place off the list. There are plenty of other pubs in Gainesville with better beer and better attitude. read more

It's nestled in a village off some Country Roads in Haile, you won't know there is a pub until your right there. The Village has other amenities, coffee shops, ice cream etc. I went for some football, a great beer and the best fish n chips and that's exactly what I found. Four stars for the authentic pub food, three stars for service. If you want delicious scotch eggs and a pint while getting your Premier League fix , look no further. I would caution against eating here if you're in any sort of rush, however. I've eaten here during both peak and off-hours, and it's consistently slow. I was introduced to the Queen's arms about a month ago when dear friends of ours brought us to the Saturday night karaoke evening. First couple times that we went we had a fabulous time. The Karaoke DJ (Mike) was extremely inviting and pretty much has any song you want to sing through a great sound system. This past Saturday night I returned with the same friends and the early part of our visit was fine and then a group of what seemed to be elite, well off, lawyers or law school students. Couldn't really tell but they were extremely pompous, loud and obnoxious. One tall dark-haired bearded individual, who seemed to be the ring leader of the crew immediately approached the DJ, (who seem to be a little worse for wear that evening, sweaty, twitching and bug eyed). He palmed him a $100 bill. Which (Mike) excepted and pocketed. Needless to say that was the end of our singing for that evening. The next few times I went up the song that I was singing was sped up to an almost impossible speed to sing and then the song next was cut off immediately in mid play. (MIKE bragged about having that ability). The three times that I've been there I've spent over $100 maybe more on food and drinks for myself my partner and my friends each time. Unfortunately, we will not be going back. I was not the only person that was bothered by this. Other regulars that were there that evening saw it take place and complained. Hopefully, they'll write a review in kind. Management and ownership needs to address this situation if they want to retain a successful Saturday evening's returns. read more

Decent place, food is fairly okay. Given how popular doner kebab is in the UK, they can do well by adding Kebab and chips in the menu. Ordered sausage rolls one night and I was a little surprised that they were diced up in eight pieces, not like a traditional sausage roll in the UK. Nice lil' English pub in Haile w/ Gator sports on the overhead TV's (4 or more), an upscale decor, a large menu, & good food from what I was told by multiple patrons (i.e. especially the Shepherd's Pie, Fish 'n Chips, Bangers & Mashers, etc). The beer menu is extensive. Saturday is karoke night-- if you're into that. The ceiling is gorgeous. (I'm guessing the very large squares each consisting of 16 smaller squares are really copper-colored aluminum, but the ceiling is still a nice addition to this establishment.) Patrons ranged in age from late twenties up...mostly up & even way up. There was just one server for the entire pub, so wait times could have been better. (She did a great job considering.) I got my drinks for free, so I'm guessing there's a designated driver perk (or the waitress thought I might be a sober alcoholic:) The dart board was popular w/ pub patrons, & there's a small screen-less porch w/ tables & chairs; smokers gathered there. Definitely a NICE English pub worthy of a return trip-- a return trip to partake of the British cuisine that I heard so much about. read more
