    Pork rinds
    Renee S.

This is my go to restaurant when I'm in the mood to go out on my own or with friends and family from out of town. The beer selection is great and the food is better than typical bar food. I highly recommend the pork rinds! They come out still crackling!! I will sit at the bar if on my own and the bartender is always attentive. Table service is good as well. They do have singers sometimes and they're enjoyable. Other evenings it's pretty quiet. I recommend going to the bottle shop next door if you love all types or hard to find beers!

This isn't my first time here. I really like it because we've never had any problems there. The staff is always very friendly. Since I'm a vegetarian and a pescatarian, I always order the shrimp, which are delicious. However, my husband does eat meat, and he says it's one of the best places for hamburgers.

My daughter and I were driving through Gainesville today and decided to stop here for lunch. When you walk in, it is definitely a sports bar. They had several tv's, and we were able to watch the Olympics on them. The only staff person that spoke to us was our server. He got a bit flustered when we asked him what he would recommend, or what some of the most popular dishes are. He basically started reciting the entire menu to us. But, other than that, he did a good job. I know this is minor, but I didn't like that they didn't have straws. But that's just my hang up. The menu was a variety of typical bar type appetizers and food. We got the onion rings for our app, and they were huge. Some were crispy and some were not. Then, we both got the cowboy hamburger. It came with crispy onion straws, thick cut boar's head bacon, and bbq sauce. Both of our burgers were cooked perfectly, but I felt they had too much char on them. The fries were pretty tasty. Overall, it wasn't bad. But it wasn't great either.

This place is awesome. Have been here several times, I always get something different on the menu and am never disappointed. The staff is great and very accommodating as well as being knowledgeable. There is a big selection of beer on tap as well as mixed drinks. There is also a craft beer store to pick up something to take home. The inside is well decorated ,has guest singers on occasion has some outdoor seating as well. This establishment has become a goto whenever I am in Gainesville!

Pesto turkey panini with onion rings

I came here to watch a UF Gators game and I wasn't the only one, the place was packed with people of all ages on a Saturday night! You can tell this really is a mom-and-pop establishment loved by the local community. I started with a delicious pear cider by Original Sin. Wow, such incredible flavor, I would return for that alone. Then I ordered the pesto turkey panini, which was perfectly grilled with crispy bread, melty cheese, and great pesto flavor. I substituted onion rings which were thick-cut with a healthy coating of batter. There is seating inside and outside, at tables, booths, or the bar. They have board and card games to play, plus plenty of TVs. Looking forward to trying them out again soon.

Brittany keeps it all together!!! She's very friendly with a great attitude to boot !! As we were passing through Gainesville, we met up with our kids for some cold ones. I ordered a flight and enjoyed them all. They also have a Package store next door with a very wide selection of beers. Occasionally, they have Open House events with the latest beer Co they are promoting. Very friendly people. Yes, we would go back !!!

    Kid's menu chicken tenders

The food was so incredibly bad. We haven't swing by fast food after because they didn't even make chicken tenders taste okay. I got the spicy burger (not pictured) for $16 which was dry, tasteless and not spicy at all. What an incredibly disappointing experience. It was just after opening and not at all busy.

Great beer menu, and the shepherd's pie is a showstopper. I want to go back before I leave town so I can try their chili.

Apple Maps struggled to provided proper directions to parking and it might be because the area is under construction so just give yourself time to find Loosey's especially if going for dinner. It sure is worth the effort though, especially if you get Matthew as your server. He is full of wit and great local knowledge. He charmed our table from our first encounter. Loosey's has to be a local favorite because the quality and freshness of the food is outstanding. Matthew is a local treasure and made our experience there so memorable and fun. We all remarked that it must be so electric there when live music is on stage or it's a Gator game day. We started with the loaded potato skins. There were 5 large pieces that were covered with toppings and delivered pipping hot. I could easily order that as a meal next time I'm in town. Their house ranch dipping sauce that is drizzled on top was delicious. Several in our group ordered the Chic-fil Loosey's, which is a buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, but I wasn't able to grab a photo as they were so eager to get started eating it. The portion of chicken breast was extremely large and the batter was perfectly crispy. Both diners exclaimed it was one of their all- time favorite chicken sandwiches they had ever eaten. Another diner took advantage of their wing special and exclaimed the Buffalo Garlic sauce was fantastic and she paired them with their ranch as well. She loved their added touch of the small paper basket topping the plate of wings for the bones. I had the Classic Beef Burger and it was cooked perfectly. There was a nice peppery flavor to the grill of the burger and the patty size was more than I expected. Especially for the price. I was so happy we found Loosey's. It was really good food. I encourage you to look past the construction mess and the "old wooden bar" stereotypes and trust me when o say, they take great pride on preparing high quality food.

Beautiful day so we sat outside in a lovely patio area. Great beer menu with draughts imported or domestic as well as a full bar. The menu was pretty much standard bar fare I had fish and chips and my wife had Mac and cheese. The fries on my plate were covered in salt. I tried to shake it off and wound up with a layer of salt on my plate. Most restaurant food is too salty for me as I cook at home low salt but this was crazy. I decided to try the Mac and cheese. It also had a cap of salt on it. I tried to dig to the bottom of the crock thinking that wouldn't be salty but I was wrong. The dish was prepared with salt throughout. Time to go and I did complain. The waitress said she hears that a lot and she offered to replace our meal to go but we didn't take her up on that offer. The fish was great! And we loved the vibe of the restaurant inside and out. I would go back again but knowing that I would order SALT FREE !!

Needless to say this the Metro diner truly surpassed my expectations. We walked in and were greeted immediately and asked if we would like to sit outside which is a covered area or indoors. We chose inside given it being a hot humid day and wanting that extra comfort. The vibe felt amazing with all the smiles and yes even though busy all the wait staff was hopping doing their business! We were seated and told about the specials and given the menu. I was unsure what I wanted because I think I could have eaten a little bit of everything! I did ask the waitress a couple of suggestions and one of them was the pancakes I had chosen. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner all day! How cool is that and rare. They had a chicken and waffle special that was actually half a chicken ( pieces ) fried with Belgium waffles, powdered sugar and sweet strawberry butter served with their signature sweet and spicy sauce. I'll be honest when I had seen someone else get their plate I was surprised. It looked absolutely incredible and well tremendous. On their specials they had banana pudding pancakes or waffles, this also sounded amazing. It had walnuts, butter and powdered sugar and definitely banana. I am most certainly glad that I chose this as it was incredibly. Super fluffy, flavorful and the banana was not overwhelming there was a perfect balance of flavors. There was a sauce on them that I assume was the banana pudding. It was light and just enough to not overpower the pancake itself. We had also ordered croissant French toast and my son absolutely loved them. They were crispy on the outside yet fluffy and flavorful with a fantastic texture topped with some powdered sugar. Some ordered hash browns, these were also delicious and homemade with a great texture and the portion like all the other dishes pretty large. We had all tried the biscuits and gravy. These too were delicious with such a nice balance of flavors. The biscuits indeed homemade. We were all very pleased with everything. Some eggs over easy and bacon cooked perfectly. The coffee honestly the best I've had in years. I'm a coffee drinker and I cannot figure this coffee was outstanding! I had four cups and wish for more ha ha. Best of all I must compliment the service. I have not been to a restaurant of any sort with such attentive service, quality service as we received here in years. The waitress kept refilling my coffee and water, brought my son more soda ( even a container to take his home ) asked everyone if they needed anything at appropriate times and was extremely kind and considerate. I will be back and I highly recommend the Metro Diner for a great meal, quality service and relaxed environment that you will enjoy. The main dishes were rich and flavorful... tried the Moqueca- mahi in coconut milk, and the Feijoada- a rich pork stew... both with rice. It was drizzling lightly off and on, and when we walked up we asked to sit at a table under an umbrella close to the building, providing some cover. The server told us that table was taken, and we were seated at a table far out in the courtyard basically next to the parking spaces under a tree.... It had no umbrella, so we did end up getting a bit damp. And, being a longer trek from the restaurant meant that the service was haphazard... for instance, our waters were never refilled. The food made up for these shortcomings, but if there is a next time, we'll be more assertive about sitting on the actual dining patio. The slower service resulted in not staying for any desert... we'd had a long day and were ready to call it a night, but the passion fruit mousse sounds interesting. No one ever came to claim the table we were turned away from at the start, it turns out.
