This place is always a nice choice! It's bar food, but it's top notch bar food. The beer selection speaks for itself; they have something that you love. I folded my napkin, and wrapped it around that dee-lish sirloin, to cradle it. The beer was a nice combo, and huge chunks of amazing bleu cheese kept falling off my burger, so I had to just toss it in my mouth. Amazing!! The service is on point and no nonsense. I have taken to going to restaurants for lunch on Fridays just to see something different in Gainesville. This time around, I had a real hankering for a steak, and I had heard that Loosey's had a decent one, so I figured I would give it a shot. It was a pretty quiet day, and walking into the place it was somewhat dead... only a couple of tables seated. A good thing, too, because parking in the area to eat there is an absolute nightmare thanks to the City of Gainesville's approach to managing the downtown area. This is what I would call a typical downtown pub in a college town, built for having a lot of standing folks coming in during the nighttime hours to drink and have a good time, but during the earlier hours the dark wood and faint smell of stale beer tells you just what this place is normally up to and how it thrives during its busy hours. I was greeted and told to sit anywhere, so I found a good two-top to sit at and looked over the menu, knowing that I was going to be going for a steak. I went with the New York Strip with fries as a side. The wait staff was cordial, and my steak came out in a reasonable amount of time. The steak is good, and the price is right in this day and age. The fries worked well with the steak. I would go back for lunch here. No chance of me going here in the evening hours though. Visiting the area and needed a place that satisfied a variety of tastes for our party of 5 for lunch. Apple Maps struggled to provided proper directions to parking and it might be because the area is under construction so just give yourself time to find Loosey's especially if going for dinner. It sure is worth the effort though, especially if you get Matthew as your server. He is full of wit and great local knowledge. He charmed our table from our first encounter. Loosey's has to be a local favorite because the quality and freshness of the food is outstanding. Matthew is a local treasure and made our experience there so memorable and fun. We all remarked that it must be so electric there when live music is on stage or it's a Gator game day. We started with the loaded potato skins. There were 5 large pieces that were covered with toppings and delivered pipping hot. I could easily order that as a meal next time I'm in town. Their house ranch dipping sauce that is drizzled on top was delicious. Several in our group ordered the Chic-fil Loosey's, which is a buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, but I wasn't able to grab a photo as they were so eager to get started eating it. The portion of chicken breast was extremely large and the batter was perfectly crispy. Both diners exclaimed it was one of their all- time favorite chicken sandwiches they had ever eaten. Another diner took advantage of their wing special and exclaimed the Buffalo Garlic sauce was fantastic and she paired them with their ranch as well. She loved their added touch of the small paper basket topping the plate of wings for the bones. I had the Classic Beef Burger and it was cooked perfectly. There was a nice peppery flavor to the grill of the burger and the patty size was more than I expected. Especially for the price. I was so happy we found Loosey's. It was really good food. Loosey's is s great little spot just 5 minutes from UF registration office. We happened to run into this establishment after touring UF. To be honest it looks like a old pub but we were pleasantly surprised how great the food was. We started with the Kalbi burnt ends which were great with its kimchi mayo. Then we shared the Nashvillle hot chic-fil-loosey which was fried perfectly. The mac-n-cheese which was creamy and delicious and finally the enormous chili dog topped there pbr chili that has beef and smoked sausage. All in all we had a great experience and can't forget about there great draft beer menu!!!! read more

I asked the internet for the best chicken wings in Gainesville and it sent me here to the downtown location of Loosey's. I did not realize that today was a playoff day for the Gators but it worked out well as I arrived early enough. If there is sports going on, expect Loosey's to be packed and it definitely filled up by the time I left. Great service today by Elliott who ensured that I had the beers I needed and the wings. The wings were excellent. Cooked properly, medium quantity of meat on each one and only one was completely burned. The rest were tasty. Fun joint for beers in downtown. Ok. You walk in amd BAM! Total dive bar. But you stay because this is the decision you and your people have FINALLY made. Well....glad we stayed. We had the Brisket Kalbi burnt ends, homemade kimchi with kali BBQ sauce. You must order if you have this palate and you must eat it all together as one bite. Then...YUM! We also had the mac and cheese, super yummy, cavatappi with creamy cheese sauce and a bit of panko topping. The Chili dog was a footlong and had their homemade chili with smoked sausage laying on top. ALL super delicious. Ok let's talk fries...Fresh cut and hot with a perfect mouth feel. Was in GNV for the first time for Fest and Loosey's was on my list of must try places. Friends had gone there the night before I got into town so wasn't sure I was going to get here, but we needed a break between sets so sitting outside and ordering was super easy. Food came out very quick considering how many people were there and that they had a full line up of bands going inside. Food was also very very good. Burnt ends were perfectly cooked with a nice mix of flavors and the mac and cheese had a nice crunch on top while still being creamy. Loosey's is the perfect place to go for great bar food and vibes. The employees were all super nice and food/drinks came out quick. For drinks I tried the Florida Mule and some kind of mixed berry sour, and both drinks were great! We ordered their wings in hot buffalo and garlic parm, as well as their truffle fries. The wings were super juicy and perfectly crispy, and the sauce was just enough to coat each chicken but not be too overpowering. I wish the hot buffalo could've been spicier but that's also just my personal preference. Garlic parm fries were great and I loved how they used fresh garlic in their sauce. Great beer menu with draughts imported or domestic as well as a full bar. The menu was pretty much standard bar fare I had fish and chips and my wife had Mac and cheese. The fries on my plate were covered in salt. I tried to shake it off and wound up with a layer of salt on my plate. Most restaurant food is too salty for me as I cook at home low salt but this was crazy. I decided to try the Mac and cheese. It also had a cap of salt on it. I tried to dig to the bottom of the crock thinking that wouldn't be salty but I was wrong. The dish was prepared with salt throughout. Time to go and I did complain. The waitress said she hears that a lot and she offered to replace our meal to go but we didn't take her up on that offer. The fish was great! And we loved the vibe of the restaurant inside and out. Was a bit hungry and I was looking for Steak Bites. The Steak Frites was the closest I could come to it. A little too much gristle and not enough flavor. It was a pretty good size for $22. I ate a good portion of it. The sides were not best selections. The fries did taste a bit decent. My wife wasn't crazy with her Burger, as they undercooked it and she had to send it back. The service is a tad bit slow, looks like they can pick up the pace a little. Place is a pub, I can't say it's a bright lighted place. It could use a little more life. Would I come back? Maybe. They were fantastic. Burger was big, the beef was excellent. Fish & Chips were very good. The cod was flaky and crunchy. The Chic-fil-Loosey sandwich was very good. Driving through on our way to Clearwater so stopped for lunch on a pet friendly patio. It's a Monday afternoon, and I get that, but this place is so dead. Not just the restaurant but the whole downtown area. Food was good. Had an impossible burger, hot wings with fries and a piece of grilled chicken breast for my dog. The burger had all the regular fixins, wings were huge but we had to send them back to throw them back in the fryer. The skin was rubbery. Once redone, they were excellent. Fries were good. It is a bar. Finally ordered my dinner, it is expensive at Loosey's, be ready to pay. I had the 14 oz Prime Rib Steak. IT WAS PRIME. Best darn steak I have eaten in many years. I had a really good experience here on Friday. It's a dive bar but don't let that fool you the food compares made from scratch. I ordered the house made veggie burger and it was delicious. This was legit, made from real veggies, no like a Boca burger (which I do like too). The fries are also amazing, hand cut and fresh. I had a yummy watermelon sour beer to top it off. I checked out Loosey's with a group of friends for my birthday dinner one night after work. Loosey's definitely has a dive-bar type feel and the food menu was not as expansive as I had hoped. In fact, it was kind of limited. I ordered the chimichurri chicken, which was a grilled chicken breast on a toasted challah bun with garlic aioli and chimichurri sauce. It came with fries and overall was okay. Nothing stood out to make it the best or worst chicken burger I've ever had. Loosey's has 25 different taps for microbreweries, a large selection of spirits, and specialty cocktails. Went recently for lunch on Saturday with some friends the weekend before graduation. We got the queso, tacos, Caesar salad, and burnt ends. The queso was really standout with pickles onions and barbacoa on top. Everything tasted really delicious but some of the food came out with parts of it cold like it was just in the fridge. The waitress was nice and heated it up for us. Unfortunately it took an hour and a half to eat with only a few other customers at the bar because our waitress was hard to find. But the staff was overall nice. Overall the inside is really nice with big tables, a stage and plenty of TVs. They've got a good selection of beers and cocktails. Went here with family to sit outside and have something to eat. Honestly, I did not expect the food to be very good. I was happily proven wrong. Most of us got burgers and they were all very good. Cooked to perfection and served with really good fries. The inside seemed like a great place to watch a game and have some drinks too, but it was pretty dark inside. This place would be perfect if they put a couple of TVs outside, so that they can watch the games outside. The ordering system is a bit interesting. You order at the bar or outdoor podium and then take a number to your table. I have realized many Gainesville restaurants are starting to do this (ex. Sweet berries, public & general). We came on a Monday which ended up being trivia night at 7:30. It was very fun and crowded for trivia night. It was also nice that they let people bring their dogs to sit outside. The workers were all very nice and food/drinks were served in a timely fashion. My only complaint is the pricing. For a very casual and sort of run down bar, I expected it to be a bit cheaper. The drinks and food were a bit pricey. Especially because there are much fancier restaurants around it with similar priced items. Cute little bar on the corner in Gainesville which has some hipster elements and is really expensive, but also has some really friendly people and keeps people coming in, between local left-wingers and heavy bearded hipster drinkers and of course a very large segment of students that come here as well. So it has a little bit of everything but it's far enough away from the college to not really be a college bar. In the heart of Gainesville Florida you'll find a whole collection of wild college party bars and most of them are within walking distance of each other - in fact within three blocks of each other - but this is away in the sleepier downtown itself, a mile or so to the East.
