The drinks have too much ice and made too quickly & sloppy (IMO) but the food is YUMMY! Steak was cooked to perfection and the brunch has a variety of great dishes...

Farmhouse breakfast, chicken and waffles, lychee martini

I got the farmhouse breakfast and it was so good. I asked for jam with the biscuit and the servers were super helpful and nice. We came for my friend's birthday and wanted to surprise her with an ice cream cake. The servers were really accommodating and took the cake to the freezer after me asking and brought it out along with plates after we finished brunch. Love coming to oak!

I came to OAK for brunch and thought it was amazing. Everything from the food to the service was top notch. I came in on a Friday afternoon and was one of the only people there. All of the dishes we ordered were very tasty. The eggs Benedict had a ton of flavorful and the hot honey which came with the vegetarian bowl was awesome. Moreover, I thought the biscuits and breakfast potatoes were great additions to the dishes. The brunch menu is fairly expansive and has a good selection of different types of dishes. I will definitely stop by to try more dishes next time I am in Gainesville.

Best service of my life. We are huge trivia fans and come every week! -heated wizardy

Round of sausage gravy's for the table

My friends tried to get brunch here last year during Fest and were practically laughed at for not having a reservation. This year someone marked it on their calendar and booked a table for our group months in advance so we had no issue getting in quick. Food was all good, service was fine. A+++ move is getting sides of sausage gravy to go with your biscuit. Would love to come back someday and explore more of the menu.

Had my daughter's birthday brunch here. Party of 9! Seated immediately (we had a res) and the place was very nice and open inside. A bit warm but not bad. Started with 2 biscuit apps and those biscuits were awesome! Perfectly done in the gravy. Lunches were mostly smash burgers which were good but pretty standard. Lots of fries which was nice. country fried steak and breakfast tacos were also good. We ended with peach crumble and that was not. Had a bourbon taste that was too strong and not mentioned on the menu. The girls all loved the bottomless mimosas and our server Kaci was excellent. We had a ball!

OAK is certainly a college town restaurant. The food is fine, nothing special or particularly tasty. It's know for its drinks. Worst of all is the service. I don't like to write bad reviews, but I've tried this place three times and every time they are extremely slow and the staff are rude. I'm writing this review at 2:45pm after arriving at 11:45 for a 12pm reservation. We still haven't gotten our bill. The wait staff hides in the kitchen and is nowhere to be found, then when they do serve you, they aren't particularly nice. If you are not a student, I don't recommend OAK.

This isn't my first time at OAK, I've been many times over the years. Usually, I'll go to enjoy their brunch like I did on this visit. One thing I will say is that the food is good and enjoyable, and the bottomless mimosas are a hit. I like the ambiance of the place as well, very cute design and decor feels modern and fun. On the other side of things, the service could definitely use some help. We had a reservation for the weekend brunch, of course that is known that you need one to get served since they are usually pretty busy but honestly I don't even see why they take reservations because it doesn't mean they will be prepared for your party. We waited at our table for 20 minutes after the host sat us with no server having even come up to us to ask us our drink orders. It was not until we flagged someone down and asked for our server to come over that then the server who we flagged down decided to take our table. I'm not necessarily placing blame on the servers, they're nice but it's evident they don't have enough on at one time each of them had like 10 tables and couldn't really keep up. They are good with keeping the mimosas filled up since they have pre filled batches so I think that is nice. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience since the food and drinks were good and after we got someone, the service was nice. They could do better with managing the crowd that they book up in advance.

I stopped in OAK for a pre-dinner cocktail and was honestly really happy that I did! The vibe was super chill and everyone inside seemed to be enjoying themselves. Loved the atmosphere and I had a good view of everything while sitting at the bar. The bartender modified my drink to make sure it wasn't sweet (yay!) and did a really great job. Happy hour was so cheap!! I ended up coming back after dinner and the bartender was still there and asked if I wanted the same thing -- loved that she remembered -- and made yet another perfect cocktail for me. I didn't have any food here but everything looked pretty good from what I could see!

The food staff and service are great. I recommend doing and this is a go to spot for date nights with my girlfriend the food never disappoints and the atmosphere is really cool.

The ambiance was nice and service was good but the eggs Benny just wasn't it. Maybe because it was on a biscuit and I LOVE biscuits, but it was almost like having a soggy undercooked biscuit with thr runny egg on it so it was off putting. But the vibe was nice so I'd come back to try lunch or dinner.

My experience at OAK was sensational. The food, service, and overall atmosphere reminded me why I love Gainesville. My servers Tabitha and Emma were the sweetest most attentive individuals and they truly made my experience. The food was spectacular and I cannot wait to come back to OAK for another great night!

What a great Friday night dinner! Our son and his fiancé' were in town from across the state and we met them in Gainesville for dinner. It was also our son's birthday. They chose the location. The food was SO good! No one had a bad meal. It was fairly busy and while we had some drinks before dinner, the food came out pretty fast. See the pictures. Presentation was great, flavor was on point and our server was very attentive. For a college town, the crowd was pretty tame and it seemed like everyone had a great time.

Order at the counter, get a number and then they will bring food out to you. Self serve water is available inside. We were there a busy day. Wait to order wasn't too bad and we found a table outside, but nobody was bussing any tables so basically customers sitting down were left clearing the dishes from the table of the people before them & wiping down the table. Nobody from the restaurant came out to help or apologize and it wasn't until dishes were almost toppling out of the bin that anyone took them away. Menu is pretty diverse - you can get some traditional items or more eclectic. We ordered the green goddess salad, croque mademoiselle (ham & cheese sandwich) on gluten free bread & okonomiyaki (japanese pancakes with cloud eggs). It took probably 30 min to get our food. The food presentation is really lovely & feels special when it's delivered. However, taste left something to be desired. The Japanese pancakes weren't good. The egg specifically looked really pretty all puffed up, but was so bad none of us were willing to have more than one bite. There were some other funky flavors going on there as well that detracted from enjoying it. The ham & cheese sandwich was okay, but the cheese is put on the outside, including a runny cheese, so it's a total mess to try and eat. Definitely do not order this one on a date! We ended up just eating the inside portion. It does come with a small green goddess type salad, which is nice. The entree green goddess appeared great when delivered. Loved the light, fresh dressing and ingredients. However, lots of the lettuce had sort of rotting tips, which made me worried to eat it especially since this isn't the cleanest place. Despite appreciating the quirkiness of the restaurant and the selection of fresh options they offer, we won't be returning.

Sounds pricey but my wife and I spit it and still had some leftovers. Also, this might seem a bit off topic but this place has some of the best fries. Great seasoning. Located in midtown, this appears to a fast casual place that caters towards college students. They serve "Greek" street food, salads, quesadillas, burgers, and more. The food is relatively inexpensive. Service is fine, actually the people working there are friendly. Food is made to order and comes out quickly. There is some seating available inside (it's limited) but there are plenty of tables in the hall. I ordered the Street Chicken Souvlaki which included grilled chicken with tomato, onion, fries inside a pita, topped with ketchup and mustard. This was a very large portion. The pita was good, but pretty much fell apart the second I picked it up. While I liked the chicken, it was over seasoned and I didn't care for the "sauced" quality of it. I'm not sure if they marinated it or tossed it in some sauce, but it was too much. The fries were decent, but not super crispy. I felt that they were not necessarily and a little over-the-top. The tomato was fresh and but the red onion slices were very thick. The mustard and ketchup didn't work with the seasonings on the chicken. The dish was just all over the place and I couldn't even finish half of it before I started feeling sick. I ordered a side of onion rings as well. This was a large order and the size was great. But these onion rings were over-battered and were fresh, but not crispy at all. I bit into one and ended up pulling out the whole onion rings. Not good. Overall, I was very disappointed with my experience. The food was so heavy and overly salted I couldn't even eat half of it. I ended up giving it to a homeless person on the way out. The food left my stomach in shambles the rest of the day. Service is fine. But the food is not desirable. It is safe to say I will not be returning, which is unfortunate.

Needless to say this the Metro diner truly surpassed my expectations. We walked in and were greeted immediately and asked if we would like to sit outside which is a covered area or indoors. We chose inside given it being a hot humid day and wanting that extra comfort. The vibe felt amazing with all the smiles and yes even though busy all the wait staff was hopping doing their business! We were seated and told about the specials and given the menu. I was unsure what I wanted because I think I could have eaten a little bit of everything! I did ask the waitress a couple of suggestions and one of them was the pancakes I had chosen. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner all day! How cool is that and rare. They had a chicken and waffle special that was actually half a chicken ( pieces ) fried with Belgium waffles, powdered sugar and sweet strawberry butter served with their signature sweet and spicy sauce. I'll be honest when I had seen someone else get their plate I was surprised. It looked absolutely incredible and well tremendous. On their specials they had banana pudding pancakes or waffles, this also sounded amazing. It had walnuts, butter and powdered sugar and definitely banana. I am most certainly glad that I chose this as it was incredibly. Super fluffy, flavorful and the banana was not overwhelming there was a perfect balance of flavors. There was a sauce on them that I assume was the banana pudding. It was light and just enough to not overpower the pancake itself. We had also ordered croissant French toast and my son absolutely loved them. They were crispy on the outside yet fluffy and flavorful with a fantastic texture topped with some powdered sugar. Some ordered hash browns, these were also delicious and homemade with a great texture and the portion like all the other dishes pretty large. We had all tried the biscuits and gravy. These too were delicious with such a nice balance of flavors. The biscuits indeed homemade. We were all very pleased with everything. Some eggs over easy and bacon cooked perfectly. The coffee honestly the best I've had in years. I'm a coffee drinker and I cannot figure this coffee was outstanding! I had four cups and wish for more ha ha. Best of all I must compliment the service. I have not been to a restaurant of any sort with such attentive service, quality service as we received here in years. The waitress kept refilling my coffee and water, brought my son more soda ( even a container to take his home ) asked everyone if they needed anything at appropriate times and was extremely kind and considerate. I will be back and I highly recommend the Metro Diner for a great meal, quality service and relaxed environment that you will enjoy. It also had a cap of salt on it. I tried to dig to the bottom of the crock thinking that wouldn't be salty but I was wrong. The dish was prepared with salt throughout. Time to go and I did complain.
