Chicken Greek Salad.
Jack D.

Easy spot on campus. Generous amount of food. And friendly service. Fries were as expected. Chicken Greek salad was ok. The gyro Greek salad was much better. Couldn't finish either. These are loaded salads. The chicken seasoning was off somewhat. All in all, it's a good gluten free meal.

Small family owned Greek / Mediterranean "spot" right in the heart of Midtown, across from UF. Order at the counter and they'll bring to the food to your table. Ive been here twice and both times, the foods been great. Gyros and sandwiches are big and they are the best in the area. They also have burgers, salads and quesadillas. Chicken Souvlaki Pita - Grilled Chicken wrapped in a pita with tomatoes, onions, lettuce and tzatziki. So full of flavor. Service is always good. Prices are reasonable. It's just a great little "Spot"

The classic Gyro Sandwich with fries

Passing by and stopped in because of the Yelp reviews. We ordered the Taziki and pita, classic gyro sandwich with fries and the gyro platter. Our total was $34. The portions are generous and the food is really good! The prices are great and the service is fast! There is one table inside the spot but other tables in the hallway. There is a bubble tea spot and Vietnamese food spot in the food hall as well. Restrooms are at the end of the hallway for the public.

One of the best Gyro's i've had and it definitely takes the cake for any in Gainesville. The place is pretty unsuspecting for how good the food is. The gyro was ~$10 after tax and tip which is pretty on par with other places. They were slammed as it was after a football game but orders still came out very quickly. The gyro was hot with the pita bread being cooked amazingly. The meat wasn't overcooked like many of the others i've had and the veggies all tasted fresh alongside the tzatziki sauce. I absolutely recommend this place for a gyro! I'll def be returning

I'm a sucker for a good gyro, so on a recent trip to Gainesville to visit the museum we were looking for a spot for lunch. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately!), a lot of spots are closed on Sunday. Then we saw, "best gyro in Gainesville," and we knew this was the place for us. There were 9 of us, so that size is hard to please sometimes, especially since kids and teens were involved, but I must say, everyone left satisfied. The Spot is in a small shopping court. There is an Asian, potato (not open on Sunday), tea restaurants in there as well. Seating is available in the main area they are all connected to. Tables are small, so for us we had to spread out, but that's fine. I ordered the Gyro and opted for fries and a drink to go with. The pita was warm, tender, and perfect. The gyro meat was so flavorful, with a few pieces with a crispy edge (I like this, my daughter not so much). Tzatziki sauce was amazing, with a hint of tartness and not too thin that it dripped off your piti wrap. Served with fresh tomatoes and lettuce - I loved it. Fries needed salt, in my opinion, but I'm a salt lover, so there's that. Drinks are self-serve. Couple of our group got their hamburger and raved about them. Greek salad looked standard, rather plain to me, but again, that's me! It was fresh and the dressing was good according to those who ordered it. Restaurant is following safety guidelines, is very clean, and staff was quite nice accommodating all of our orders and multiple tickets for the group. If you like gyros, this is the place to go. Parking was a little difficult, even on a Sunday, but it was a beautiful day so having to walk a couple of blocks was not a problem.

The Gyro meat was burnt, no potato salad with the Greek salad. Side of Gyro meat was also burnt. Salad dressing was just vinegar and oil. Would not recommend

So whether you're basic or hot And whether a thug or a thot Act like Bob DeNiro And come get a Gyro From Gainesville's best option - The Spot! The Spot is something you don't want if you're at school in Gainesville. There are a lot of cute people going to school here so zits of any kind are not really welcome. My notes said - Pretty damn good gyro which surprised me, and a decent portion, but hardly any onions. Well the product is pretty decent here and surprisingly so, and it's right next to my favourite bubble tea place in Gainesville, but I guess the downside is that the service isn't too amazing and it's not the cheapest Gyro in the world. The server girl was super nice, but the owners seemed a little hostile. But it's still well worth a try when you are in Gainesville.

I Was in Gainesville and was looking for something different. I have read about the spot and was excited to try. Wow I was not disappointed. I love gyros and got the gyro platter. It comes with gyro meat, pita bread, fries and a HUGE Greek salad. The flavor was amazing and the portions were huge. As others have said, this is a hidden treasure and I have told others to try. I would definitely repeat when I am back in the area.

Tasty gyros that are reasonably priced. Server/Cashier is quick. Although the seating area is sometimes not clean, it's still a good spot for casual hangouts.

I didn't know Gainesville had a greek restaurant so I just gave it a go and ordered their gyro platter with some of their greek salad. The gryo platter came with some pita bread, meat, a side of fries and some really great sauce. Not gonna lie, I had better greek food before but this one is not bad either. The greek salad was fresh but the portion was a little small. The meat was a little dry when it arrived. The pita break was freshly made and was really soft. Their fries were amazing and the combination with their sauce made it really great. Overall, this restaurant is great for a swampy place like Gainesville.

Location was okay. Seems like a good spot for tourist and locals to stop in for a quick bite. Service was decent. Food was okay.

My dog begging

Ok the Spot seems to be the Spot everytime I drive by. I was driving from Florida to Tennessee and although this restaurant is 12 minutes from the actual highway we deviated ourselves just to come here. It was raining so hard we needed a place we could seat with the dogs. I love gyro platters, my friend got the chicken one and the portions are so good and flavorful. Did I mentioned our dogs ate from both dishes? Yes my dog was actually the one asking to come here.

My friend and I met after we parked our bikes. She was sitting outside, and as I was locking my bike, less than a block away, she texted me. I just walked to her without responding, and with a smile and a hug, we walked in to look at the menu. The sandwiches have some very creative names that go along with their creative construction. I got a #10, which was a fusion of French dip and Philly cheese!! I wanna buy the person a beer, whoever thought of that one! Even though it was busy, we didn't wait long to order. Every sandwich comes in a paper bag, so you can take it out or stay and munch. We got a combo with chips and a drink, because how else do you eat a big sandwich like this?! There are board games to play, decor that is not typical and a big display of Guy Fieri, from the Food Network, that lets you know this place is on America's culinary map. After the sandwiches were done, I brought them out to my friend Kimberly, who was saving our table. We both were hungry, so out of the wrap and in with the teeth. Mine was full of flavor and the fact that all the sandwiches are heat-pressed, made the texture very satisfying. The au jus was thick and delicious and made me think someone took great time and effort to make it. It is a casual restaurant, great for a date or a group of friends, or a solo quick lunch, that can also be a dinner as well. The food is somewhat pricey, but it delivers as a good meal with a creative touch. They could have emptied the garbage can more quickly, as it was more than overflowing, when I went to throw the garbage away. Memorable food, and makes me want to come back to try at least two other sandwiches that I read about.

Finally tried this awesome spot located in the 4th Ave Food Park! I had heard so much about this…read moreplace and it was even featured on Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-ins, & Dives". Their menu consists of some staple sandwiches, wraps, sausage dogs, and salads, along with daily specials. They also have a meat counter where you can buy a variety of very unique flavored/seasoned meats that are all made in house. The shop isn't super big and there is limited indoor seating. Although the food park offers plenty of coveted outdoor seating options. Service was great and pretty quick. The guy who took my order was helpful in answering my questions too. Everything is made fresh to order with higher quality ingredients. This is very evident in the taste of the sandwiches, they are truly next level! I ended up ordering a Muffuletta sandwich and a walking taco. Both of these were on the daily special menu. The muffuletta was loaded with ham, salami, mortadella, Swiss cheese, provolone, olives, Dijon aioli, lettuce, tomato, and onion on ciabatta. This sandwich was huge! The meat was super flavorful and you could really taste each one of them in each bite. I loved the ciabatta, especially because it wasn't too thick and didn't take away from the sandwich. The cheeses were mild melted perfectly on the sandwich. The fresh tomato's, lettuce, and onion complimented the other components nicely as well. I will say I wish the olives and aioli had been more prominent, as this is what truly makes a muffuletta of muffuletta. So I wouldn't really classify this as a traditional muffuletta sandwich and it reminded me more of an Italian sandwich. The walking taco included Fritos, chilli, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, banana peppers, and house-made ranch. I thought these were decent. This wasn't the most impressive thing, but it was still tasty. I wish there had been more meat in the chilli and the cheese was melted on top of the Fritos. The onions were simply chopped red onions and seemed too strong for the dish. While this was good, it isn't something I'd go out of the way to order. I would probably stick to the sandwiches and such as that is what truly shines here! Overall, I was more than impressed with this place. I love that it is located in the food park too! Ordering is easy and the service is welcoming. They offer a nice variety of deli options and there is something for everyone. You can taste the difference in the food here compared to other places. They use high quality ingredients and put a lot of passion into their work. I also love that they have fun switching up parts of the menu daily with unique options. While my muffuletta reminded me more of an Italian sando, it was still one of the best sandwiches I've had in the area by far. The sandwich was absolutely packed with meat and made the price completely justifiable. The bread was really fresh and not too thick, which I really appreciated. The walking taco was decent, but nothing to ride home about. If you are in the area and want a good sandwich, I HIGHLY recommend stopping by.

I went to the Luke's Bagels location under the Standard this past week and was disappointed. I hadn't been here in a little bit, especially since Bagels & Co. just opened down the street. But I was craving a Luke's Bagels, so I got there around 8:30, when they opened ready to order. Unfortunately, no one was at the counter when I came in. Someone popped out from the back to take my order a little while's later though. Their bagel selection was extremely limited, more so than usual. They didn't have poppy seed or sesame seed bagels. This was surprising, as I thought this location was sent fresh bagels each morning, I guess not. Luckily, I was able to order a bacon, egg, and cheese on a toasted Asiago, along with a toasted plain bagel with strawberry cream cheese. This took roughly 15 minutes to come out, which was longer than I expected. Upon delving into my bagels, I noticed a couple things that were different from my previous visits last semester. The bagels were definitely smaller, had less cream cheese, and didn't taste as fresh. The BEC had ample amounts of American cheese and the eggs were good, but there was barely any bacon! There was MAYBE two meager pieces on the bagel, I didn't even get bacon in most of my bites. The Asiago bagel still had a decent taste, with a nice sharp Asiago. But it just wasn't very fresh tasting like they've been in the past. The texture wasn't awful, but it wasn't what it used to be. The plain bagel with cream cheese was lackluster. The plain bagel was just fine, as it too was not very fresh. The strawberry cream cheese was decent and not too sweet, which I appreciate. I also like that their cream cheeses have more of whipped texture to them. But there certainly wasn't as much cream cheese on this bagel as I've received in the past! Overall, I was not very pleased with my experience here. The bagels were not fresh at all, the sandwich was lacking bacon, and I just thought the quality appeared be lower. Maybe I came on an off day, but the bagels were not fresh and the assortment they had available was very limited. The texture of the bagels still has a softer center, with a chewy outside , but the outside was too chewy and hard. The size and portions were decreased as well. The BEC had too much cheap, American cheese, and lacked bacon. The plain bagel with cream cheese didn't have much smear on it. For being about $19 for two bagels, not worth it. This makes me sad as I used to love Luke's, but this was not a good visit. I hope next time I come here it is better!
