The Spot is definitely a great lunch time restaurant that just hits the spot! I ordered one of the gyro platters which came with a Greek salad, fries, and pita bread. The woman who took my order was very nice and made my food with care. It was piping hot and fresh. The Greek salad was fresh and I really liked their Greek dressing. The gyro meat was a bit salty, so the tzatziki sauce definitely compliments the gyro. The pita bread was fresh and soft. The fries were seasoned very well. Overall the platter was pretty hefty and reasonably priced. The parking is a bit tricky here especially during the week when classes are in session. I do look forward to stopping by for lunch again in the future.

Easy spot on campus. Generous amount of food. And friendly service. Fries were as expected. Chicken Greek salad was ok. The gyro Greek salad was much better. Couldn't finish either. These are loaded salads. The chicken seasoning was off somewhat. All in all, it's a good gluten free meal.

Small family owned Greek / Mediterranean "spot" right in the heart of Midtown, across from UF. Order at the counter and they'll bring to the food to your table. Ive been here twice and both times, the foods been great. Gyros and sandwiches are big and they are the best in the area. They also have burgers, salads and quesadillas. Chicken Souvlaki Pita - Grilled Chicken wrapped in a pita with tomatoes, onions, lettuce and tzatziki. So full of flavor. Service is always good. Prices are reasonable. It's just a great little "Spot"

Passing by and stopped in because of the Yelp reviews. We ordered the Taziki and pita, classic gyro sandwich with fries and the gyro platter. Our total was $34. The portions are generous and the food is really good! The prices are great and the service is fast! There is one table inside the spot but other tables in the hallway. There is a bubble tea spot and Vietnamese food spot in the food hall as well. Restrooms are at the end of the hallway for the public.

One of the best Gyro's i've had and it definitely takes the cake for any in Gainesville. The place is pretty unsuspecting for how good the food is. The gyro was ~$10 after tax and tip which is pretty on par with other places. They were slammed as it was after a football game but orders still came out very quickly. The gyro was hot with the pita bread being cooked amazingly. The meat wasn't overcooked like many of the others i've had and the veggies all tasted fresh alongside the tzatziki sauce. I absolutely recommend this place for a gyro! I'll def be returning

I'm a sucker for a good gyro, so on a recent trip to Gainesville to visit the museum we were looking for a spot for lunch. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately!), a lot of spots are closed on Sunday. Then we saw, "best gyro in Gainesville," and we knew this was the place for us. There were 9 of us, so that size is hard to please sometimes, especially since kids and teens were involved, but I must say, everyone left satisfied. The Spot is in a small shopping court. There is an Asian, potato (not open on Sunday), tea restaurants in there as well. Seating is available in the main area they are all connected to. Tables are small, so for us we had to spread out, but that's fine. I ordered the Gyro and opted for fries and a drink to go with. The pita was warm, tender, and perfect. The gyro meat was so flavorful, with a few pieces with a crispy edge (I like this, my daughter not so much). Tzatziki sauce was amazing, with a hint of tartness and not too thin that it dripped off your piti wrap. Served with fresh tomatoes and lettuce - I loved it. Fries needed salt, in my opinion, but I'm a salt lover, so there's that. Drinks are self-serve. Couple of our group got their hamburger and raved about them. Greek salad looked standard, rather plain to me, but again, that's me! It was fresh and the dressing was good according to those who ordered it. Restaurant is following safety guidelines, is very clean, and staff was quite nice accommodating all of our orders and multiple tickets for the group. If you like gyros, this is the place to go. Parking was a little difficult, even on a Sunday, but it was a beautiful day so having to walk a couple of blocks was not a problem.

Classic gyro very delicious flavorful! Not what I expected to find in Gainesville! Definitely recommend- especially if you love gyros!

The Gyro meat was burnt, no potato salad with the Greek salad. Side of Gyro meat was also burnt. Salad dressing was just vinegar and oil. Would not recommend

So whether you're basic or hot And whether a thug or a thot Act like Bob DeNiro And come get a Gyro From Gainesville's best option - The Spot! The Spot is something you don't want if you're at school in Gainesville. There are a lot of cute people going to school here so zits of any kind are not really welcome. My notes said - Pretty damn good gyro which surprised me, and a decent portion, but hardly any onions. Well the product is pretty decent here and surprisingly so, and it's right next to my favourite bubble tea place in Gainesville, but I guess the downside is that the service isn't too amazing and it's not the cheapest Gyro in the world. The server girl was super nice, but the owners seemed a little hostile. But it's still well worth a try when you are in Gainesville.

I Was in Gainesville and was looking for something different. I have read about the spot and was excited to try. Wow I was not disappointed. I love gyros and got the gyro platter. It comes with gyro meat, pita bread, fries and a HUGE Greek salad. The flavor was amazing and the portions were huge. As others have said, this is a hidden treasure and I have told others to try. I would definitely repeat when I am back in the area.

I didn't know Gainesville had a greek restaurant so I just gave it a go and ordered their gyro platter with some of their greek salad. The gryo platter came with some pita bread, meat, a side of fries and some really great sauce. Not gonna lie, I had better greek food before but this one is not bad either. The greek salad was fresh but the portion was a little small. The meat was a little dry when it arrived. The pita break was freshly made and was really soft. Their fries were amazing and the combination with their sauce made it really great. Overall, this restaurant is great for a swampy place like Gainesville.

Tasty gyros that are reasonably priced. Server/Cashier is quick. Although the seating area is sometimes not clean, it's still a good spot for casual hangouts.

Apple Maps struggled to provided proper directions to parking and it might be because the area is under construction so just give yourself time to find Loosey's especially if going for dinner. It sure is worth the effort though, especially if you get Matthew as your server. He is full of wit and great local knowledge. He charmed our table from our first encounter. Loosey's has to be a local favorite because the quality and freshness of the food is outstanding. Matthew is a local treasure and made our experience there so memorable and fun. We all remarked that it must be so electric there when live music is on stage or it's a Gator game day. We started with the loaded potato skins. There were 5 large pieces that were covered with toppings and delivered pipping hot. I could easily order that as a meal next time I'm in town. Their house ranch dipping sauce that is drizzled on top was delicious. Several in our group ordered the Chic-fil Loosey's, which is a buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, but I wasn't able to grab a photo as they were so eager to get started eating it. The portion of chicken breast was extremely large and the batter was perfectly crispy. Both diners exclaimed it was one of their all- time favorite chicken sandwiches they had ever eaten. Another diner took advantage of their wing special and exclaimed the Buffalo Garlic sauce was fantastic and she paired them with their ranch as well. She loved their added touch of the small paper basket topping the plate of wings for the bones. I had the Classic Beef Burger and it was cooked perfectly. There was a nice peppery flavor to the grill of the burger and the patty size was more than I expected. Especially for the price. I was so happy we found Loosey's. It was really good food. I encourage you to look past the construction mess and the "old wooden bar" stereotypes and trust me when o say, they take great pride on preparing high quality food.

I tried to shake it off and wound up with a layer of salt on my plate. Most restaurant food is too salty for me as I cook at home low salt but this was crazy. I decided to try the Mac and cheese. It also had a cap of salt on it. I tried to dig to the bottom of the crock thinking that wouldn't be salty but I was wrong. The dish was prepared with salt throughout. Time to go and I did complain. The waitress said she hears that a lot and she offered to replace our meal to go but we didn't take her up on that offer. The fish was great! And we loved the vibe of the restaurant inside and out. One woman tried to cut the line, and another wanted to argue over a small booth that her family wouldn't have even fit in. Eventually, we were seated. I understand that holidays can be busy, so we were trying to be patient. Our waiter came over, dropped off menus, said "I'll be right back," and disappeared. After 25 minutes of waiting at the table, I had to flag down another waitress. Meanwhile, at least three tables that were seated after us already had drinks and had placed their food orders. I understand being busy, but at the very least, we should have been greeted or offered drinks. The waitress we flagged down said she would help us, which seemed promising at first, but then we waited another 20 minutes just for drinks. I'm not sure if it was an understaffing issue or something else, but the service was extremely poor. We considered leaving a one-star review, but the waitress did seem like she was trying. The food was okay, we ordered light items, and it still took quite a while to arrive. Overall, we would recommend skipping this place. So yeah, expectations were not exactly low. I pulled up and kept it simple. Cheeseburger, fries, large iced tea. No need to get cute when you're dealing with a place that's been doing one thing longer than most people have had careers. Let's start with the burger, because wow. This thing absolutely delivers. Cooked to order, juicy, perfectly seasoned, and hits that sweet spot where you take a bite and immediately understand why people won't shut up about it. Five out of five, no notes, no complaints. This is the kind of burger that makes you question every overpriced, overbuilt "gourmet" burger you've ever had. This is how it's supposed to be done. And then... the fries showed up. Hot? Yes. Fresh? Seemed like it. But somehow they pulled off the impressive trick of being both hot and soggy at the same time. It's like they skipped the part where fries are supposed to have texture. Total letdown, especially sitting next to a burger that's basically winning awards in my head. The iced tea did its job. No drama there. So here's where I land. The burger alone is worth the trip. It lives up to the legend, no exaggeration. But those fries dragged the whole experience down just enough to knock it to four stars. Mac's is this close to perfection.
