Nestled on a quiet commuting road in High Springs, Bev's housed the most humans that I had seen within 4 miles so I knew it was the place to be!  We initially opted to sit outside to enjoy our meals under the sun and shade... but the bugs had a different idea and we ended up relocating inside.  The change in seating didn't stop us from ordering as the brightly colored menu offered up tons of delicious options that were calling my name.  We started with a delicious order of piping-hot Corn Nuggets that have grown into a personal favorite, and Bev's did them justice!  When it came to my meal, I was tempted to drift, but decided to stick with the item that seemed to be their specialty; burgers!  My friend went for the Bacon Egg Cheeseburger w/Fries, and I went for the Chili Cheeseburger w/Onion Rings and an order of Fried Okra for us both. Before I could even get a bite into my burger, my Fried Okra was just a memory.  I absolutely LOVE fried okra and Bev's prepared their Okra with a crunchy, well-seasoned breading that made the Okra out of this world!  After scarfing down my Okra, I moved onto my burger.  Fresh, hot and delicious, the Chili was the perfect touch, although I was a bit turned off due to the red onion being placed on the burger in huge rings, but still yummy.  I was so full, I barely got to enjoy my Onion Rings because I was so full but they were crispy and so delicious. Along with the food being great, we didn't have to wait long for our fresh food and the customer service was awesome.  Our waitress was so kind and understanding, she truly made sure we felt the Southern hospitality as we waited for our food.  A quaint, hometown spot, this should definitely be a stop for any who are heading through High Springs, Florida!

If you are looking for a quick and decent meal in High Springs that won't break the bank then look no further. Bev's Cafe is a winner. I ordered a BBQ sloppy with a side of sweet potato fries. The BBQ was a mix of beef, pork, and different cuts. It was really tasty. The sweet potato fries were crispy and hot. Nothing really stood out to rate it higher. Look at the pic of my plate. It looks lackluster. For a sandwich with a name of big sloppy it needs more than what you see in the picture. All and all Bev's is a solid place to drop in when you're looking for a bite to eat.

Took it to go and put it on a paper plate

No one makes burgers like Bev's. Everytime I'm in town I make a stop. Haven't had anything not good off the menu. Prices are very reasonable and the food is made fresh to order. Wish they'd bring a location to Tampa.

    Perfect little burger

Nothing fancy, but decent like "home cooked" food. Always busy with returning customers. Pleasant servers.

Did a take out. Burger was good as were the fries and onion rings. Had a screened in porch to sit at. Would go again if I was in the area.

We did sweet with the pulled pork and tangy (made with peach) for the brisket. Both the meats were done to perfection and the sauces were perfectly complimentary. Of course we had sweet tea to drink. Sides were green beans- made fresh with garlic, delicious coleslaw with fresh and crispy shoe string fries. The waitress was excellent! Friendly and kept our glasses full. The restaurant was clean and the bathroom was both clean and well stocked. Thanks!!

I have to say we were worried that it wasn't going to survive early on, especially since it opened right before Covid, but our little barbecue place has been thriving and has even opened up a second location. The barbecue here is quite good. I routinely get the brisket lunch or the brisket French dip. My wife alternates between the turkey, pulled pork, and today's new favorite, the buffalo chicken wings. Everything is good, bordering on excellent. One of the biggest surprises to me is the sides, as Top Hog has the best coleslaw in all of Gainesville. And this is odd since I can't stand kale, and this coleslaw is rife with it. Regardless, it's one of the tastiest , sweet coleslaw all around and actually is one of my favorites. The green beans are also good, as well as the baked beans. My wife really likes the collards. One of the things holding this back from being a five star recommendation is the price. This place is not cheap. You do get pretty generous portions, and I'm always full when I leave but it's a little too expensive for an every day lunch. We typically save this for game day weekends. Anyway, if you're craving some barbecue but don't want Sonny's, this is a great alternative, and is some really good local barbecue. The pitmaster really knows what he's (or she's) doing, and the staff are always friendly.

Entering it kind of reminds you of a farmhouse, I guess. Pretty standard furnishings and decoration for a country diner sort of place. Of course, we were there for breakfast, so the standard diner breakfast was on the menu. The full menu consists of burgers, sandwiches, and a couple of barbecue dishes. If there were more screens mounted on the walls I would call it a sportsbar, but that isn't the case. Our orders were taken, and I had gone for eggs, hashbrowns, and corned beef because it was St Patty's Day. Realistically one of the few times that I have legitimately had food that was appropriate for the holiday. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time for a group of ten, so the kitchen and staff knew what they were doing. The food was fine... nothing to really shout out about, but also not bad. It was what I expected it to be, and that was good enough.

1906 Farmhouse 25405 W Newberry Rd, Newberry, FL 32669…read more ***SWILL ALERT*** Pulling up to the hitchin' post at the 1906 Farmhouse, all seemed well and fine. I don't mind themed restaurants (they can be fun). This place was designed to model the Farmhouse where the ranch hands gathered for meals before and after a long day of riding. I dug it. It gave off a warm, welcoming, one-of-the-family vibe. Kasey was my server for the meal and she was frowning before I asked one question. I placed an order for one Country Fried Steak with sides of Collard Greens and Mac & Cheese, along with some Strawberry Shortcake to round out the meal. I soon saw Cantankerous Kasey begrudgingly returning with my victuals. I don't understand this attitude. Am I supposed to be grateful she deigned to work here? Anyway, if any of you are curious like me, you may have often wondered what it was like to spend a day in jail. To that end, I admit, I got myself hauled off to the County Hoosegow. Wanting to make the most out of my tax dollars, I booked my stay to include lunch. The dry bologna sandwich you receive, along with the juice bag to wash it down, is something you try to forget. As I looked at the slop my trustee, Kasey, placed before me, I began to long for the county jail government issue bologna. The Country Fried Steak was fresh from the freezer and cooked with the precision of Stevie Wonder passing his behind-the-wheel driving test. I've been hit with hockey pucks softer than this garbage. The gravy was made in the Sysco factory and this had to be their bottom-grade slush. It was as tasty as flour and water. Wait. The sides were a step down from the entree, if that is possible. Just look at the pictures and tell me, does anything look appetizing? While I am not one to ever judge a book by its cover, as looks can be deceiving. In this case, they are not, and the adage 'a picture speaks a thousand words' is spot on. The Collard Greens were obviously from an industrial can. Hey, don't get me wrong, all restaurants use a food service, but you don't have to be cheap about it and try to finagle the dining population by using the lowest quality they have to offer. The Mac & Cheese looked more like something a dog regurgitated than actual food. It was dry and pasty on the palate--just the way it is not supposed to be. The Strawberry Shortcake is also food service, not unlike the stuff you got in high school, only worse. Kudos, 1906 Farmhouse, you officially serve Swill sans the fly. At least on this visit. The Big Boy says, "I wouldn't serve this SWILL to a dead dog."
