Needed a quick pitstop grubbery place after some grueling MTB riding at San Felasco State Park. Harvest Thyme Cafe was the choice, a nice sandwich cafe shop in downtown Alachua. The strip of the road carried some historic charm to it, and even this cafe building was historic, modern vibe to it. Their menu is not too overly extensive. Vegan and Vegetarian options available. The Italian Sub (4/5): Not too bad of a samich, great portion, lots of bread. I think it would have tasted better toasted. Big Thyme; on Lettuce Wrap option (5/5): I did not order this but am told it was pretty good We also some pleasantry chat with the in-house HTC groupie... is what I would call her. Very friendly. And, Shout Out to Lindsey for her good service.

A whole experience. A mountain of food so generous it could easily feed two people, layered like an edible masterpiece. The plate came overflowing with rice, beans, lettuce, tomato, cilantro, queso, and shredded cheese, all draped over perfectly seasoned chicken. Every bite felt warm and comforting, the kind of food that makes you pause mid‑conversation because the flavor hits you in waves. Creamy, crunchy, fresh, savory... everything balanced beautifully. I also tried the al pastor, and it was incredible. Tender, juicy, with that perfect hint of sweetness and char that makes al pastor unforgettable. You can taste the love and intention in every bite. I loved that you could see the pineapple chunks because usually places just use pineapple juice . The atmosphere was cozy, the service was kind, and the food felt like it was made by people who care. If you're anywhere near Alachua, do yourself a favor and stop here. This place deserves all the stars.

I was very satisfied with the portions, and everything is made fresh to order. Presentation is really top notch. If you can't tell, I think the place and the people are amazing. Family owned too, so definitely a place to frequent and support. They also make the cakes(tres leches) in house! Seriously impressive place. I would recommend 10/10. Thanks so much Cilantro tacos team!

It wasn't exactly what I was going for, but that's more on me than the place. We also got a Pick Two combo: a strawberry banana smoothie (with oat milk, banana, strawberries, flax seeds, and agave) and the Thai Chicken Crunch salad (romaine, red cabbage, roasted chicken, carrots, celery, and wontons). Everything was decent and fresh, just nothing that really stood out flavor-wise. We took everything to go since we were busy getting her room set up, and it worked for what we needed--a quick, fairly healthy option. One thing I wish they offered was a smaller portion size; everything felt a bit too much for a light lunch.

Like crescent roll dough, the seams didn't always stay together, and mine seemed like it could have used an extra minute in the oven. Other than that, it contributed to a good Ham and Swiss spinwich, rather thick-sliced meat with cheese, tomato, lettuce and plenty of mayo. It came with potato chips (Ruffles?) and I chose the fruit salad (mostly grapes, some pineapple and honeydew.) We started with the Hungarian Mushroom Soup (special of the day), which was excellent, very dark and with a lot of earthy flavor. It came with a piece of the same bread for dipping.

This restaurant has an entry on the corner of the building, with outdoor seating along one side of the building. I opted for the outdoor seating as it was a nice day. I was escorted out to my table, and my drink order was taken. Going through the menu, I opted for a burger with fries. It was quite pleasant out, and waiting for my food was not a problem. The burger was quite good, and the fries were decent as well. The price point is a bit more than most of the sports bars out there, but the Tioga area tends to boost the cost of things a bit. All in all, a nice place to have a bite to eat. I can see this place being very good for brunch.

It's been about a year since our last visit and here's what I've come up with. 1. The water is terrible. Please buy a filter. I think it's the worst water I've had in a Gainesville restaurant. 2. This place can't decide if it's a restaurant or bar. It's loud. Very loud when full. I couldn't even understand the server and my husband had to sit next to me. The bar is the focal point. It should really be in the other room off to the side. It takes up too much space and it's obnoxiously loud. 3. The menu: Again. It's a bar menu. Large selection of handhelds. Few limited mains. Some salads. There are appetizers but this is the weakest link on the menu. 4. I usually love their off menu drinks. But they were both lacking tonight. I even asked for more purée to boost the flavor. The problem was I couldn't taste the gin. Just seltzer. The issue I have when I go out to dinner I'm looking for a meal I won't make at home and although there is a huge chunk of the population that doesn't really care what they eat as long as they don't have to make it , I don't fall in that category. I'm a foodie. Have traveled the world and know a good meal when it sits in front of me. The food here is decent but the ambience and awful water leaves me coming here last minute to find a bite. But seriously, buy a filter for your tap. The clientele will thank you.
