I was solo looking for a good veggie burger. When I saw that Dick Mondell's had a house made veggie burger, I knew I had to go. I was not disappointed! This place is a Gainesville classic. A throwback to the drive-thru burger days. They have very simple and straightforward burgers and they execute it well. The patties are flavorful and the buns hold together and soak up the sauce. The Seasoned Fries are fantastic. Crispy and well seasoned on the outside while staying pillowy soft on the inside. Definitely is the perfect combo with your burger. Service is quick and friendly when I went, so no complaints there. Just be aware that there's very limited outdoor seating, so you may be standing around and eating. But there's charm doing that at an old school burger joint, so I'm cool with that :) read more

Now this burger should be PERMANENT on the Dick's menu! I saw this being advertised on Instagram and had to get it. The Mushroom Swiss Burger is a seasonal burger that has sauteed mushrooms & onions, arugula, garlic aioli and swiss cheese. I added pickles to mine, because why not? And also I love pickles. I did get a Dick Jr version of this burger, which is a single patty. Since the weather was pretty nice, I decided to take my burger and fries over to Depot Park for a late afternoon dinner. First off, the potato buns were so soft and had a great toast on them. Now the carmelized onions, mushroom and swiss were melted into each other and had some seasonings that did not make it too salty. The arugula has that peppery taste, was not wilted and balanced with the saltiness of the mushroom, onions, and cheese. The garlic aioli was chef's kiss! It was creamy and pleasantly sharp. It a great contrast to their known Dick's sauce. I need to order this burger again before it leaves their menu. This is a great burger place. Rolling up on bikes, we locked them in the back, and walked up to order, but we were a bit confused as where to stand. It was 12 noon on a Friday, so theplace was packed! We had to ask where to stand to order. We ordered, and our server was VERY GOOD!! She made suggestions, she asked us questions, and repeated our order to us!! Very thourough! However, we had to find a place to sit to wait for our food, so we didnmt hear the server, when she called our name. Maybe have a speaker by the tables, so people can hear ehen they are called. I also suggest that they paint directions on the floor as to where to stand to order and receive your food. Our burgers were deelish, but our fries were not hot, because of the noisy crowd, we did not hear the lady call our name. My friends and I came here for dinner after the first home game and LOVED our meals! Dick's is a drive-thru type of eatery where you order at a window. There is no indoor seating, only outdoor. The menu is super simple and classic. The prices are unbeatable! The service is pretty quick and they are really on top of things. I ordered the "original big dick" which included two 4oz beef patties, lettuce, pickles, onions, and their famous Dick's sauce. I added American cheese to mine as well. Along with my burger, I ordered a small fries and side salad. The burger was served right from the griddle and was so basic and yet so good. It wasn't overdone with the toppings, etc. The simplicity of it is what made it so memorable. The sauce isn't extremely overpowering either and is the perfect burger sauce. The patties are similar to a smash burger and the melted cheese on them was heavenly. The bun was buttery too. The fries were really good and fresh as well. A little salty, but still good. I enjoyed my side salad, it was good, not great. All in all, our experience at Dick Mondell's was amazing. The environment is super chill and gives retro vibes. The burgers are so good! They're juicy and full of so many good flavors. The price alone is a reason to eat here considering how filling our meals were. It is the perfect way to spend a night after a long day of tailgating! Well Dicks was recommended to us from a friend, had never heard of it, so i looked them up, was curious so we decided to try them out.. drive there is not too bad , students are back in town so expect a lot of foot traffic there, there was only one car ahead of us, but quite a few at the walk-up window. Prices are reasonable for a burger spot. The girl was friendly who took my order, the order came up pretty quickly. We got home and the food was still hot, the chicken sandwhich was good, little overcooked, but still tasty. The tots were sweet and fresh, the burger my wife ate was good as well, have had better , but it is a unique spot which gets all its food from local farms, so by buying from them your also supporting local farmers, businesses. Dick's has a straight up, simple, tasty burger with a good sauce on it. YUM! Sometimes you just want a straight up GOOD burger without a bunch of fancy bs on it. Dick's has it. We like to the bacon or the plain, both all the way with cheese. The fries or the sweet potato tots are really good. The sauce that comes with the tots is hella good. I love their shakes and they always have seasonal offerings like pumpkin spice in the fall or strawberry when they are in season. I also love to get the ginger half and half drink. I have also found the employees here are always friendly and almost always get our order right. The only thing I don't like is that the lot only has room for about three cars before the drive thru line spills onto the street. I find it unnerving to be sitting in traffic waiting on the drive thru line but alas, this happens a lot in Gainesville (but not all that often elsewhere--which is weird, right?) read more

Our first time visiting Dick Mondell's in Gainesville. We ordered 3 Classic burgers that we loved with a side a fries & a soft drink. The spot is outdoor eating or drive through for take out. As always we always search for places that are most reviewed and just simply aim to stay away from chain owned restaurants. I asked for their sauce on the side for all three burgers, and mayo & ketchup for the fries. The food came out in a brown paper bag and I must say after waiting for about 10 minutes and not having our drinks yet we felt a little odd as in any place drinks are for the most part the first thing that is served. After asking for our drinks and opening the brown bag, we noticed there was only one side cup of their sauce and only two napkins. When my daughter walked to the window to ask for a few more napkins and two sauce side cups I couldn't help but notice the staff was not too friendly. Customer service brings people back and sustains a business. All it takes is a friendly smile and a willingness to help others. Now you may be asking how was the burger? The burgers were really good, their sauce was delicious and the fries were good too. So for a new spot adventure this was an ok experience. We went on a Saturday for lunch, on Sunday before heading back home my daughter wanted a burger and fries for the trip home, so we gave it another try. Wanted a good burger and heard this place was it for smash burgers. Has a drive thru and small outdoor area with tables to eat at. We wanted to use the drive thru but the line was long in both directions and turning left in has you kind of in the way of traffic. So we parked across the street and went up to the window. Service at the window seemed to run a little quicker than the drive thru line. The burger itself was filling, tasty, and juicy and the sweet potato tots were crispy and flavorful. Got out of work early today, and decided to try a place that I haven't been to in a long while. The burgers at Dick's are known to be good, so I rolled up before the noon rush and made my order. I just ordered a burger and a chicken sandwich, as I have been looking around for a place that serves a decent chicken. Still haven't found one, and sadly this was not the exception. While the burgers here are decent, and the chicken sandwich was also all right, it is really nothing to write home about, particularly with an $8.00 price tag on the burger and $7.00 on the chicken sandwich. The burger is not really that large, even though it does have a double patty. Certainly not $8.00 big. The chicken sandwich? I have had much better for half the cost at regular national chain fast-food restaurants. I won't be ordering that again. As for Dick's in general? Perhaps another year or two I'll return... meanwhile I think there are better places in town to get a burger of the same quality for a couple bucks less. I would give them three stars for the food, but the price point is a killer. read more

I usually get the Dick Jr with fries and a chocolate shake. Super good. The food always comes out tasting great. The drive-thru can be difficult to navigate if it's busy and they are backed up. The drive-thru is right off of the main road, so the street can get backed up. We will sometimes park across the street and just walk over and order. Honestly, this place never disappoints. Rudest customer service I've experienced. The place was near empty and my girlfriend ordered a burger with cheese and bacon and NO OTHER TOPPINGS. We received our order and double checked it before leaving. We found lettuce, onions, and sauce on the burger so we politely asked the employee to fix our burgers and she then tried to gaslight us and tell us we didn't say that and closed the window and talks shit about us to her coworkers when we are able to hear her clearly. Another employee then came to talk to us and state they wouldn't be able to make new orders. They would just be able to switch the top bun then handed us the new order and SLAMMED the window on our face. This is RIDICULOUS. The manager needs to take action asap. read more

Honestly, I come here once in a Blue Moon just when I want a brown paper bag that says "A bag of Dick's" hahaha I also come here to support local. This is honestly more of a drive-thru. You can park across the street at 4th Avenue Food Park lot and walk over. Order from the window and they have a small area for you to sit, but I recommend sitting at the food park. I don't eat meat so I always get the veggie burger and fries. They did add the impossible burger, but it can get a little pricey for just a burger. Then, when you add fries, cheese, and a drink (all additional costs). You can spend $11.50 to $16.00 for just one person. The veggie patty is house-made, and you can tell (I love it when restaurants make their own veggie patty). You definitely need to get the Dick's Sauce! I think the vegan Dick's sauce is even better than the original! I put that sauce on my burger and dunk my fries in it. Note: it's free as topping on your burger, but if you ask for it on the side it's cost more. While the burger tastes good, I find it oily. The fries are a hit or miss when it comes to being crispy vs soggy. They taste good either way, but it's that texture of crispy thing to balance the heavy, messy, oily burger that you crave sometimes ....you know? I haven't had the sweet potato tots yet but it will be on my list next time I go along with milkshake!! Check them out! read more
