We stopped for lunch in Ocala on our way south. I chose Gator's Dockside because I want to support local establishments when we travel, not chain restaurants. Our server, Joseph was excellent. We received prompt friendly service. My husband ordered a drink from the bar which he described as a "generous pour" which he really appreciated. We both had a grilled chicken club sandwiches that were juicy and delicious. The business was clean and bright and overall it was a great lunch experience. read more

I only got food to go, so I stood at the hostess area. The attention to customers at the door was very lack luster, since people saw me standing there and it took a while for someone to come up and help me. I couldn't read what kind of vibe the place had because it was Sunday and it wasn't packed, people were spread out, and it was sooo quiet , but they have all these huge tvs with different sports playing. It did look like the waiters were paying good attention to those seated though. And the bartender looked like he was keeping busy. The fried pickles were very salty, the gyro was good. Well it was good but it wasn't over the top. I had the gator tails tasted just like popcorn chicken. For all you people wondering if you should try them. French onion soup was good. There ribs were ok they were very basic and the same with their wings. The place it's self was huge if your into sports and drinking or if your into that and want to bring the fam bam great place. They have a full bar. My server was very sweet and knowledgeable. Could have been a little cleaner but it was 2 hours before closing so I'm definitely not holding that on them. I'm giving 4 stars because the service was great, Joseph was my server, and he was awesome. I got 8 wings, a small cup of Coleslaw and a Modelo 2 for 1 deal. All in all very good with basketball on the TVs. Now my complaint.... It cost me almost $32! I'm sorry, but this is ridiculous for 8 wings a beer and some coleslaw. It's not just this restaurant, but wings are supposed to be cheap bar food. This is highway robbery. Part of this is that I left the server a 20% tip.... Price of the dinner is not his fault. Just disappointed in whoever can sleep at night charging that much for 8 wings. read more

I enjoy Gators dockside. The staff is friendly, they have outdoor seating & the food is typically good and they have some entertainment for the kids! Today we went at lunchtime and it was busy! The waitress was friendly and quick. We do love that they have happy hour at all times. The onion pedals were good, but the buffalo chicken dip was not a favorite. (It was dry, and the chips were over cooked). But overall our visit was a good one! read more

We were traveling in the area and found this restaurant on Yelp. SO GLAD we did. It was an amazing experience. I had the BEST wings I have ever had and my Husband agreed with me. The Spicy Garlic wings were the bomb! They have several different sauces and the 2 we tried were very delicious and sauced up just right. I loved this restaurant and the waitresses that I encountered were all very nice. We ordered a wine and a beer and they brought us 2 at the same time. Apparently you cannot "buy one get one free" because it is alcohol, but you get 2 with every order. I found that funny and after a long day the road, I also found it refreshing. read more

Honestly best place Ive been too in Florida, the service was awesome very respectful people working there. They got good deals on almost all their alcohol drinks during the week days 2 for the price of 1, can't beat that. I got there half rack of ribs and it was almost perfect honestly was a little dry but the sauce makes it a 10 I got chipotle bbq. The restaurant was practically empty at lunch time. I was immediately greeted and taken to a table. I ordered the buffalo cauliflower as my appetizer. It came out fast and hot. The buffalo sauce was spicy but also very flavorful. I also ordered the Cobb salad with the Gator bleu cheese dressing. This salad had no flavor. I put a ton of salt and pepper but the chicken was bland. The dressing also didn't really taste like blue cheese, it was bland. The bacon was extra crispy and almost tasted like bacon bits instead of real bacon. I was very disappointed in the salad. The service was great and I would probably go back for appetizers. read more

The food here is so good. I took my dog and someone in a wheelchair. They were able to accommodate everyone. I got chicken tenders for my dog. They had 2 4 1 drinks. Everyone had a great time. I ordered fried Oreos to go and they looked promising until I tried it. The dough was super salty and greasy and I thought the Oreos would balance it out but it did not. I came here on game night, so the place was slammed. We had gator, fried pickles, and grilled buffalo chicken wrap. The gator was ok, some bites were phenomenal while others were extremely fishy, and other parts were so rough you couldn't chew it. The pickles were good, just had a lot of salt on them. The buffalo chicken wrap had like a vinegar-type hot sauce that was ok, nothing to write home about. What I did notice is they use/brand their own ketchup. Why I have no idea, but I cannot get on board with a place that does not use name-brand ketchup. Do they not realize there is a huge difference? Was it better than a Millers Ale House yep, but would I go out of my way to come here, nope. read more

This place has great food and that's it. The restaurant itself looks like some college kids put it together with spare money. Not much as far as Gators or anything depicting water....Lol The bar is sad. Some vendors alcohol neon signs and old Dennys restaurant tables or something like that. Seriously, no ambiance at all, but great food. The kitchen staff is definitely wasted talent. They should be working in a 4-5 star restaurant, not a 3 star wannabe restaurant. I was pass by Ocala and decided to have a to go order for night time snack. I was thinking the Gator Dockside of Tampa location that close for business and decided to get their wing. Since Ocala has the same restaurant, might as well to get the food here. I got the mango habanero and honey garlic wing. I remember at Tampa their wing is the best thing to have. I have them grilled too. This wing is not as good as the Tampa location. They are about average. With $1.1 a wing is average price. It still have the taste but the grilled section need some work. read more

The pros: We had a party of 11. The service was decent and our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. It was a Saturday evening and was not busy at all. My husband ordered wings with sauce only there was no sauce on them. I ordered a Cajun chicken pasta which came with garlic bread. The pasta itself was fine but the garlic bread smelled horrible (and it was not the garlic). We had several tables that were put together and there was food stuck in the cracks between tables. The name is misleading. They have one item on the menu that is alligator, it is an appetizer Which we ordered. We also ordered a side of sweet potato fries. When the order came out: The sweet potato fried were burnt to the point you could smell and see the scorch. The Alligator was overcooked / crunchy to the point you could not peel the breading off to find the Gator. When we asked for the manager we were told they were cooking. It took quite a while for them to come out. No apology was offered yet he said they had other items on their menu. We decided not to chance it PAID FOR IUR BEVERAGE and left for good. I would return to this restaurant nor recommend it you anyone. read more

Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. My husband ordered the Western Burger and Mojo Pork Tacos. He said they were very good; albeit, the burger a bit dry. Another member of our party ordered the burger without a bun and you could see it was also dry. I ordered the fried shrimp dinner that came with fries and cole slaw. When it arrived it didn't look like the photo in the menu. The shrimp were over fried as were the fries. Each was edible but not worth taking home the leftovers. The slaw was good. This visit reminded us why we hadn't been back there in apprx. 4 or 5 years. The ambiance is very much the "sports bar" feel. We enjoy dining at Gator's with our kiddos because it definitely has a family friendly atmosphere. Service has always been great whenever we have been here. I should mention we go to earlier dinners when it's less packed! Tuesday night kids eat free with each paying adult (5:30-8:30 I believe). Their wings are good and they have lots of different wing sauces to choose from. Their smash burger is DELISH and I think there were 3-4 patties in mine so I had enough to take home.
