As a New Yorker I normally hate Florida pizza and bagels. Sorry, just not the same and can't compare. Yet, I did enjoy Mellow Mushroom. The pizza we had here was pretty good. They do their own thing and don't try to be NY style pizza. They offer a menu of different pizza types and we really enjoyed the one we had. Along with delicious feta rolls to start, of which were large and so good. Great service in a cool colorful setting. They also have outside patio seating which we enjoyed to dine on after seeing a show at the nearby theater in downtown Ocala. read more

Pretty average overall. We were a walk in party of 10 for lunch. The server wasn't friendly from the start. I'm not sure if she wasn't happy about serving a large party or if it was just an off day. I ordered the buffalo chicken salad. It was ok but nothing special. The cheese fell off of one of the pizzas as soon as she picked it up Others got various salads and pizzas. The entrees all came out at separate times, so no one ate together. My friend asked for the server two times and both times she seemed annoyed at any requests. On a rainy Saturday night I stopped by this Mellow Mushroom in Ocala. There are some great things going here. There is a full bar, wine options, great craft beer and great service. The place stayed packed with folks still coming and going. There was a snafoo with our pizza, but the beer was great and we weren't too hungry, so not harm no foul. My husband and I went to Mellow Mushroom and decided to sit at the bar, and we're so glad we did! Our bartender, Victor, was awesome -- friendly, attentive, and full of great suggestions for both food and drinks. Even though the bar was busy, he made sure we were always taken care of. I ordered the White Rabbit pizza on thin crust, and it was absolutely delicious -- flavorful, crispy, and cooked perfectly. I paired it with a peach margarita, which was refreshing and just the right balance of sweet and tart. My husband enjoyed his amaretto sour and pizza as well, and we shared an order of pizza rolls, which were a fun and tasty appetizer. Overall, we had a great experience. I was visiting my son and his fiancé in Ocala and the craving hit for Mellow Mushroom's cheesy bread. So we hopped in the car and headed there! There's a big parking lot right nearby so parking was easy. We were seated immediately and our server, Caedmon, was super attentive. We ordered two orders of cheesy bread (a bit of overkill, but leftovers are perfect), a house pizza, some wings, a small house salad, and a small white rabbit pizza. Drink-wise we had sweet teas and one lavender groove lemonade which was amazing and refreshing! The food was all delicious- we love the pizzas with the fresh ingredients! Caedmon was the best- we told him if there were mushrooms on one of the pizzas, there would be tears; he literally told the team in the back that it was "baby shampoo" situation! Walking into Mellow Mushroom we were greeted by a sweet hostess who asked if we wanted to sit outside, inside at a table or at the bar. The outside seemed very comfortable but we decided to go in and eat at a table and relax comfortably. This was a party of three for lunch and we were eating light. The first thing that I took not of was the decor! It was so relaxed and I guess you can call it eclectic or Hippie-ish with its vibrant colors and very playful whimsical theme. Then we sat and ordered two medium pies to share and they were both wonderfully addicting to me. The pepperoni was typical of a pepperoni pizza a little thicker than New York style but delicious and the other we ordered was my favorite indeed. This was called Holy Shiitake"olive oil and garlic base, roasted shiitake, portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions, mozzarella, aged white cheddar, fresh chives, garlic aioli, and black truffle oil. Soooo delicious honestly! Mellow Mushroom has so much to offer from pizzas of various kinds including build your own. They also have calzones, wings, salads, burgers & hoagies, plant based options and certified Gluten free pizza and brownie! Not to forget munchies if you don't prefer a meal ! I've been to the mellow mushroom in Delray Beach multiple times, the locations in Orlando and even Boone, North Carolina. We LOVE mellow mushroom! Always get the two Same pizzas, the Maui Wowi and the Kosmic karma. I'm not sure what it is about this location, but it is the absolute worst and every time we get pizza here it's awful ! A very cool and popular spot here in Ocala! We have one close to our place in Central Florida, so the name rung a bell. We decided to eat here last minute because the game was on. Saturday night and it was crowded. Our wait, however, was less than 15 minutes when expected to be 45-hour. We sat at the bar, looking to get a drink but the bar tender only served ONE of our drinks until it was time to head to our table. We cashed out. Our server was really nice but service was slow. We shared a calzone and the wings. The calzone was nothing to talk about (other than how huge it was), but the wings were the star of the show. Mild heat, garlic parmesan -- and lots of it! This place is the worst when it comes to service have tried the place two or three times every time they tell you your wait going to be X number minutes.... Then it ends up being double or they take a 30 pizza order over the phone and don't even bother to tell people that their wait time has increased and is going to be over an hour which is just very poor service and poor management. You say anything to the manager and they just look at you like your speaking a foreign language! Several groups walked out last weekend after finding out that the wait time wasn't communicated! Ordered the holy shiitake pie which was phenomenal. Only drawback was that the sauce was overly sweet which did not mesh well in my opinion, but quite literally that was the only downside of this pie. The other pie was a butter chicken pie special and was so disgusting that with two people we could only finish one slice. The chicken tasted like the precooked meat you buy in a bag and honestly just talking about this pie makes me lose my appetite all over again. There was about probably four tables full at the restaurant when we walked in. It took us about 15 minutes to get our pizza which is totally normal however, we did order an appetizer and never got it. Our waiter never acknowledged it until we were halfway done with our pizza and we just asked for it to be canceled. We were never checked up on. We had to wait at least 10 minutes for a box for our food. When we walked in, there was no clean tables. They cleaned off one table for us and the entire time we sat there all the tables around us remained dirty. Our food was great but the service here is absolutely TERRIBLE and that alone is enough to turn anyone away. The table next to us was also upset. read more

Two female servers were unbelievably rude. young women with attitudes for sure. one even yelled angrily at a small dog brought in by guests. the dog jumped on her in a friendly greet which set this woman off. she had thick jeans on so couldn't have felt a thing. took me aback. weirdness continued throughout the meal. a couple attempts to be sorta pleasant then a disgusted expression. There are plenty of Mellow Mushrooms where I live, so I was surprised to see Ocala finally got one! So much has changed since I have last been back here. We were seated as as soon as we walked in, it was around 2:30pm on a Saturday. There was a good crowd and it was very very loud. The music was loud and as a result the conversations were also loud so it was hard to hold a conversation without raising your voice a little. I appreciated that they had some mocktails on the menu, I tried a pineapple and tumeric one and it was delicious! I also got the build your own pizza with thin crust. The food came out quickly and our waitress was super nice. I believe her name was Desiree - she was awesome. When we lived in GA, Mellow Mushroom was a go to, good atmosphere, fun menu, good food and drinks. Today a friend and I went to the fairly new restaurant here in Ocala and I was pleasantly surprised! Much bigger inside that GA nice covered patio, booths and tables inside. Hostess and servers, helpful and friendly, manager checked in. Good service experience. We both ordered a medium pizza, hers with 2 meats and mine mushrooms. They did have a few lunch specials with slices but we both figured leftovers for the weekend was a good idea! With the exception that I would have liked my crust baked more, I really enjoyed it. Good pizza around here, for my Yankee, Italian taste is a challenge! We're planning on a return trip! read more

1.5 hour wait after being seated...and no food... ....waitress stopped giving us updates and refills on drinks...tables around us were either also waiting an hour plus for food or trying to cash out with no help in sight...Finally gave up and left. This easily could have been prevented. Kitchen delays happen. Good customer service can make a long wait tolerable. Keep up with drinks...keep updating us on status....maybe throw us an appetizer that could quickly be heated up....but no.. There are so many choices to enjoy a good pizza. I so wanted this to be a great experience but it just wasn't. The hostess was bored and acted like she was taking a test of where to put us when the place was literally empty. We were on of the first customers on a Sunday. We ordered a pizza, the meatball appetizer a burger and fries. The pizza was tasty but two thirds crust with toppings in the very center. The meatball appetizer was really tasty with melty cheese in the middle. Ours son's burger arrived 15 minutes later and they said the first one had been overcooked so they started again but the second one was also way overcooked and the tots were like little rocks. 4/5/25 We went to Mellow Mushroom in Ocala, we got seated around 4:10pm we sat there until about 4:30 until someone came to take our drink order, we actually got our appetizer before our drinks, our server (Brett) came back and said "oh you guys didn't get your drinks?" After we re-told him what our drinks were, we waiting ANOTHER 10-15 mins, at this point we have been here for close to 40 mins with no drinks. Finally our server brings our drinks, I ordered a lemonade but it was severely watered down, I waited again about 10 ish minutes for him to walk back to our table and asks if I could please exchange my lemonade for a sprite? He gets me my sprite and slams it and I mean slams it on the table. I still tell him Thank you, but he just walks away without saying anything. After we finish our Pizza, we sit for about 30 mins waiting for our server to come back so we could get a box and out check, but we got a little impatient and just went to the take out area instead, and the girl working there with curly red hair was 100x more helpful and nicer than our server. We got there around 4:10 and didn't leave until closer to 6:30 ish. AGAIN on 8/9/25 we decided to give Mellow Mushroom a try and we ironically got the same server, and once again our service by him was terrible. It took him 15 minutes to initially come take our drink order and then after that we never saw him again. Three other people took our appetizer, main course and got our boxes. read more
