We stopped by on a road trip home from Florida not realizing it was at the general aviation airport. It was a perfect spot for a delicious lunch. Service was fantastic. It looks like a lot of locals go and they have plenty of servers. They have a full bar and a very good menu with lots to choose from. We enjoyed the blackened grouper sandwiches and soup. Everything was delicious. Service was excellent. The dining room itself is very simple. Nothing much to it, but there are lots of tables.

Grouper sandwich

My wife and I stopped by for lunch after reading glowing posts about Elevation 89 in our neighborhood Facebook page. Located at the Ocala airport, the place, adorned with aviation themed wall art is perfect for aviation enthusiasts. We were seated promptly by the window with a view of the flight line upon entering. Presented with the menu, my wife focused in on the Virgin Island burger served with blackened cream cheese, fried banana peppers and sweet Thai chili. It came with French fries. I was eyeing the grouper sandwich and asked our server for her recommendation on how she liked the fish prepared. She recommended fried so that's how I ordered it. My wife loved her burger. She was delighted by how all the flavors complemented each other. It was well prepared. My dish was good, with fresh and flaky grouper...but I thought having it grilled may have been better. We were both entertained by planes landing and taking off during our meal. I can see how kids of all ages who marvel at planes would love dining in this place. Very good food and free "entertainment" to boot! Lunch for 2 came out to just under $43 with tip. We'll be back.

Deb was looking for something unique for lunch an came upon this place in the Ovala airport. Free parking to go to the restaurant. Small private airport but this restaurant is really nice. Nice open dining area with views of the runway. Ezra our server was great. Great suggestions and right on for water and food. I had the VIRGIN ISLAND BURGER Seasoned Burger ackened Cream Cheese, Fried Banana Peppers & Thai chili. Delicious. Could have been cooked a little more but the flavors were great. Deb had the PORCINI DUSTED SCALLOPS Fresh Jumbo scallops with a a roasted garlic Dijon crane sauce. Nice app that was a meal. Solid spot and worth a stop if you are in the area.

Watch the airplanes come and go while enjoying a nice meal. Fantastic place with some pretty good food. I recommend the Pork Shank and the poke nachos. Delicious

The Flying Goat Burger with Mac and Cheese.

We took another couple to this restaurant as a thank you for pet sitting for us. In all we had lobster rolls, chicken tempura, airline chicken, and I had the Osso Bucco. All I can say is that everyone was most satisfied with their meal, me especially. My Osso Bucco couldn't have been better. No way! Presentation, flavor, temperature, you name it. Thumbs up! We are going to Elevation 89 today after church. Very much looking forward to it. Today my wife had the Flying Goat Burger with Mac and cheese. The burger lived up to all these positive reviews I've read on Yelp. And the Mac and cheese was superb. It seems like the kitchen cooks with a minimum amount of salt. I'm good with that as long as they use some salt. Sometimes when a dish is cooked with NO salt it cannot be salted enough afterwards. An example is grits.

First off many have mentioned it's in the airport terminal. Food was surprisingly good and well priced. We had the lamb and halibut, both were outstanding. Great service from Joe. We'll certainly be back.

We stopped in on our way home on a recent trip. I found this little gem on yelp and it did not disappoint. I had the salmon and my spouse had the lamb. Both were amazing. I wish this restaurant was closer but we'll be sure to stop in on future trips north. I'm sorry that I forgot our server's name but he was super pleasant and gave us great service.

Bison burger with Caesar salad

Yet another hidden gem in Ocala! I had the bison burger with a Caesar salad on the side. My wife had the wagu sliders with a side of fries. We were in the mood for burgers! Absolutely delicious! Best burgers in town! As for the rest of the menu... it promises great things! More reviews to come, as this is now on our monthly rotation! Also the bar made a great Negroni! Kudos to the bar tender! The ambiance was cool and relaxed. Have some elevated food and drinks while you watch the planes take off! Highly recommend stoops by and trying this Ocala jewel!

Skirt steak and shrimp

We had the pleasure of eating here when visiting friends and I would recommend it!! Our waitress Ro was wonderful she was friendly attentive just really nice! I would recommend you ask for her! My husband and I had the skirt steak and shrimp over rice was delicious the steak was tender and the shrimp were cooked perfect. Our friend had the Oso Buco she said it was delicious and our other friend had the airport chicken which also was delicious. I had the turtle cheese cake for desert that was fantastic. The cheese cake came recommended by Ro our waitress and she was right on. The dining room is open and you can see the planes from the window. I would highly recommend this restaurant try it if you are in Ocala!!

Our second time here and everything was just as great as the first time! They serve lunch and dinner all day. Great to get "dinner" at lunchtime, then take half home for dinner.

Stella's continues to impress with fresh ingredients and absolutely incredible bread. I wasn't sure since it being 2 years since I was here if they would have the breakfast I had last time. I was surprised they did have it so I ordered the Spanish Egg Breakfast, which came with arugula, chorizo, heirloom tomatoes, ciabatta toast, and a preserve. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the chorizo added a great smoky-spicy kick, and the heirloom tomatoes were sweet and juicy. The arugula balanced everything out with a slight peppery bite, and the ciabatta toast was just amazing--crispy on the outside, soft inside, and perfect with the preserve. I also had the Jamón Serrano Sandwich & split it with my bf. It was just as good as it sounds. The jamón serrano, manchego, and basil pesto were a perfect combination--savory, nutty, and herby--all sandwiched between that same incredible ciabatta. Every bite was fresh and flavorful. The atmosphere is cozy, and the service was friendly, though the wait was a little longer than expected. Still, the quality of the food made up for it. Definitely won't wait as long to return next time!

It looks like a store from the outside but I did see someone sitting inside sipping wine so I was intrigued. As you walk in, there is a spacious seating area at the front of the store. Then it kind of transitions into a market store. There is a counter you order food at and pay for items. There is a small bar with seating next to that as well. We browsed the market items and picked up a couple of items. We went to the counter to pay and that is when I realized you can order food and drinks. If you order something that takes time to prepare, it is brought to you at a table. Since I ordered a glass of wine, I just waited there for it and went to sit. Hubs retrieved a beer from the fridge. The owner was the individual we interacted with and he was very pleasant. There was constant traffic the entire time we were there so I hope that means they will remain in business. The prices were not too crazy and it is a perfect place to have a drink and/ or gourmet snacks. I definitely want to return and try other items on the menu.

Plenty of pay by app parking nearby with this restaurant on the back side of the square. Immediately greeted by the hostess. We sat at the dining tables, but there's a bar area available as well. Seating was a blend of upholstered couch and chairs and was quite comfortable. Only complaint was it was kind of gross with dried on food, crusty bits and stains so had to try and ignore that. Management needs to increase regularity of checking and cleaning. Our waiter was very helpful and attentive. Ordered a couple of the krispy chicken, which is gluten-free because they use a gf rice crispy cereal to coat it. It's a pretty generous meal consisting of 1 chicken breast, corn/bean succotash, cornbread and another side. We had potatoes and cheese grits. The chicken and cornbread were pretty good. Chicken was cooked well and it was nice to have something that resembled fried chicken but gf. All the rest of the accompaniments were meh. Also ordered the caprese salad. Caprese was as expected but with some pesto drizzled on top and this made for a nice addition. Not sure we would return, but enjoyed the overall ambiance and service.

We were seated and I looked at the menu wanting steak and even though it was early they didn't have any ( rib eye ) Yes it was on the menu but that was ok, instead I chose a Wam burger and fries. To be honest I wasn't impressed. I asked for medium rare and my burger came out well done. It was a bit flavorless to me and the fries weren't even hot nor crispy. First, the chef greeted almost everyone but us which was quite disappointing. Second, my order was messed up. I did told them i touched it since i thought it looked like my dish with the scallops yet the waiter still picked it up and serve to another table. Our food also took a long time to come out..water took a long time to get refilled along with the napkins and our wine did not come out until way later. Third, our bill was messed up as well. So definitely be cautious. Also, pro tip is it is cheaper if you pay in cash. We did try new stuff such as kangaroo tartare..definitely was a hit but crab fondue was ok as well as the pastas. You could definitely make them at home. The lobster pasta was too overpowering with garlic and there was barely any duck in the duck and pork pasta. For Ocala, i would say okay if you wanted to give fine dining a try. I just would not be back due to how we were treated, all the mess ups and underwhelming food for what we paid for. I do have to give props to the scallops. It was nicely cooked ( still soft, and could melt in your mouth).

I could tell he talks to his regular customers because he spent a few minutes at another table having friendly conversation. My mom and I decided on the wine pictured below. It was very smooth. We both loved that it went well with our meals and dessert. The serve this truffle and Parmesan popcorn to start. Delicious! We also ordered the seafood empanadas. They are served with queso and pepper sauces. The empanadas are so rich and the flavor is amazing. I had the filet with asparagus and fondant potatoes. The filet was a bit overcooked but still amazing. It was perfectly seasoned and I could cut it with a butter knife. The fondant potatoes were perfectly cooked. It had this really good truffle sauce on top. The asparagus was more of a garnish but it was perfectly cooked. My mom had the bison filet with duchess potatoes. She loved it. She reported it was perfectly cooked. It was a pretty hefty portion. We shared the chocolate cake. It is not a very big dessert but we had eaten our meals and drank wine. It was served with blueberry compote and Tillamook ice cream. The cake was perfect. Rich but not too sweet or dense. I do not normally like cooked fruit. And I have never thought to pair chocolate cake with blueberry compote. But my goodness the two went together so well! The ice cream made it even better. Now I know Ocala doesn't have a ton of fine dining. And yes. The price point of this place is a bit high. But it's a great treat for people like my mom and I who enjoy great food, service, and ambiance. I also want to point out the menu has some more adventurous options like kangaroo, python, boar, and other options that rotate. I pray this town doesn't let this place get shut down. I think they could keep the crowds coming by doing a tapas night, happy hour, or food and wine pairing event.

My fiancé has been coming here since the opening weekend, and takes me here each time we visit Florida and Ocala. The Tipsy Skipper is located near The Square in downtown Ocala. There is street parking nearby, and some various parking lots. The establishment does not have a designated parking area, but I had no trouble finding a spot nearby on this day. If you visit on a weekend or during a particularly busy time, you might have to spend a few more minutes finding a spot. We visited as a group of four on a Monday evening in July around 9 PM. Not a lot of places in this area are open on Mondays, but luckily this business is! There were a couple groups at the bar, but it was no way at all crowded. There is bar seating, as well as tables and chairs throughout the space. There is a more isolated front room, and then the main area where the bar is. The atmosphere is unique in this place. It is decorated like a beach/tiki bar, and the lighting is kept dim. The tables have candles, along with appropriate decor for the theme. They have several cocktails that go with the theme of the bar. This was my first time sitting at a non-bar seat in this place, and given that it was a Monday, I am not sure if this is typical or if at times they provide table service. However, we had to go up to the bar to order the drinks. Not a huge deal, but something to note regarding table service, especially on a slower weekday. There is no food here, it is strictly a bar. They have themed cocktails, as well as some beer, wine, non-alcoholic options, and various specials. I ordered directly from the menu this time, but I have visited before where the bartender can essentially make you a unique drink according to what you like. So, the possibilities for drinks here are really endless. I typically like to get a "fancier" drink when I come here, since it is such a fun experience to accompany the atmosphere of the place. This time, I enjoyed the O'ahu Skies, which was a cocktail of gin, lavender, and lemonade. Truthfully, I did not read the menu closely and did not realize the drink contained gin. I am not the biggest fan of gin, but I did enjoy this drink! It was perfect for a summer night. Another member of my party really enjoyed the Ciderboys Pineapple Hula Hard Cider. Everyone enjoyed their selections overall. I find the staff here to be consistently friendly and kind. This visit in particular, there was a female bartender who was sweet and courteous to both myself and our entire group. I have had other positive experiences with different bartenders on other visits. I would dare to say the staff here is top-notch and will take care of you! In terms of pricing, I believe it is fair for a speciality cocktail bar. The speciality drinks that come in the fun glasses cost, I would say $15 on average. There were specific $10 drinks, Happy Hours, and discounts if you bring the theater ticket from your show next door, so not every drink is that much. Additionally, beer and wine were priced as you would expect, so you could very well come here to enjoy the space and only spend a few dollars. I enjoyed this trip to The Tipsy Skipper, as I have enjoyed all my others previously. It is a spot I look forward to visiting each time we come to Ocala for an evening. I will most certainly return again on our next trip to the Sunshine State.

It was super busy when we went our first time and it was not during happy hour on several occasions we have visited. We live close and visited here a bunch the first 2 years we moved to Ocala and have visited less and less since then. There have been several occasions we have stood at the bar waiting not only to be greeted but also waited very long times to receive our drinks. In their defense, many times the bartenders were busy attending to patrons or making drinks. However, there were several times some bartenders were just talking to friends or messing around. The drinks here are super detailed so they take some time and TLC. I will say, most times our drinks taste delicious and the presentations are magnificent! The decor is so cozy and the ambiance is consistent. Hubs and I absolutely love Tiki themed bars and fell in love with Hawaii after our visit years ago so this place is perfect for us. We also like this place because they are open later than most places in town. We recently visited for a nightcap and it was definitely different. I recently had referred someone here because she was looking for Hawaii themed food (they used to serve food) and she informed me they did not serve food. That sucks because we always meant to try it but never did. Looked good. When we recently visited, they did not have physical menus and were referred to QR code cards on the bar. Our bartender was attentive and helpful with choosing a drink during our recent visit. He actually went out of his way to make the orange peel twist in a perfect manner. I appreciated that! I was going to suggest to hubs we have another drink and then a roach crawled across the bar. I discreetly informed the bartender of the dead roach I killed when we closed out and he took it away. Usually this place is clean and tidy so I was surprised to witness the roach. They do have seating outside as well but we usually sit inside to listen to the themed music.
