We were up in Ocala and wanted to find somewhere to eat. I looked on Yelp for somewhere that had chicken fingers (my daughter was craving them). We found this place. I had no idea it was actually at the Ocala Airport. It's a small little airport, so it's easy to just park out front in walk in. The restaurant is on the right side when you walk inside the airport. You can watch planes take off and land from your table. We had chicken fingers and fries and the goat cheese burger with fries. Both were surprisingly excellent. I really didn't expect much but was pleasantly surprised. The chicken fingers were HUGE and super juicy. We had to take home leftovers. The goat cheese burger was perfectly cooked and comes with a type of jam on the bun. Yummy. Service was friendly and quick. We were there early to mid afternoon and it wasn't busy at all. Came to Ocala to visit friends and found this amazing place. Very nice and friendly staff, and sat in the front to watch the planes and sunset. Our server,Taylor took excellent care of us. I had the pork chop with the Marsala sauce which was delicious and prepared to order. The overall restaurant was very nice and provides a friendly atmosphere. As a pilot, I love restaurants (that anyone can go to) at airports with a runway view. Elevation 89 doesn't disappoint! While not the fanciest airport restaurant I've seen, the decor is still nice, and bar is amazing. Sunsets are amazing, and not to be missed! There is a varied menu that will please anyone. Staff is always friendly and attentive, even during their busy times. Everything we've had has been well-prepared and tasty. Stop in for lunch or dinner... you won't be disappointed. We've been going to Elevation 89 for Four years today was the first time we had an awful meal. Clam chowder was barely warm sent it back.....Philly Steak was dry up steak had to ask for Mayo, they advertise the Hoagie roll is "baked fresh daily" completely stale. Locals love this place and it does have a fun ambiance and an unusual menu. Airliner chicken and lobster spring rolls arrived to our table and looked well executed. House made scratch desserts earn you a star for sure. I guess I didn't make a good choice in the "Champagne Salmon" dish. Notes to the kitchen: Do not put garlic powder or garlic salt on a piece of Salmon and sell it to me for $35. As Anthony Bourdain famously observed, if you're too lazy to peel garlic, you don't deserve garlic. The only flavor coming off the champagne sauce was soup base concentrate and salt. And while I'm at it, I've got to ding you for the undercooked rice as well. Yuck! I ate half since I was famished. It took nearly an hour for entrees to arrive from time of order. Been here 4 or 5 times the last few years and the food quality has always been fantastic! We love the view of the airport runway as a conversational piece to our 50 plus years of airport experience. Never a bad meal but today the service was a bit pushy and generic. We expect more for the prices listed. I wasn't even seated and was asked what I wanted to drink. I've been hearing about this place for a while. We finally made it out on Father's Day with no reservations. So, we had to wait. But, that is to be expected. The staff was super nice, but the place seemed a bit understaffed so our drinks were filled timely and our food seemed to take a while. Sadly, we were seated in front wall, so we didn't get to do all the plane watching we had been hoping for. But, again, it was Father's Day, so you can't expect top notch with poor planing. Now that I've covered the "eh" points - let me talk about the food. The food was amazing. My father ordered nachos. It may not seem like a lot - and I'm not sure about you - but our nacho experience for the past couple years has been horrible. I mean, poor ingredients, not balanced, and almost every single time, stale chips. Not here! Every single bite was delicious. I would happily order them again. My parents had the grouper sandwich- one grilled and one blackened. They both really liked it. Hubs ordered the Wagu sliders with Kimchi. They were delicious - and it wasn't fake Kimchi like you get in some places - it actually tasted like Kimchi. I got the Flying Goat (burger with pickled red onions, goat cheese, and fig sauce) and it was amazing. There was no clear "better meal" between mine and hubs. They were both excellent in their own way. Eldest ordered the Philly. It looked amazing. He thought it was a bit salty, but I think maybe that's because he doesn't eat them often and he eats very low salt. My youngest had the kids "chicken te died" and he ate every bite. We really enjoyed all our food and will certainly be back and we'll make sure to call ahead to get window seats too! read more

We were around the corner at a Ocala distillery and John found this great lunch spot at the Ocala Airport- interesting! They were busy- great sign! They also looked short staffed, the servers hustling, several open tables hadn't been bussed yet. We waited about 15 minutes for a table, not too bad. Ordering drinks was fast, but we needed a minute to look at the menu- which turned into 30 minutes. Our server was pulled between tables, delivering food, cashing out checks, trying to buss tables when she finally saw the menus still sitting on our table. Yay! I went with a grilled chicken sandwich with fresh mozzarella, tomato & balsamic with a side of seasonal veggies. John ordered a burger (cheese and bacon) with fries. Food came out pretty quickly. We enjoyed watching the Coast Guard plane, apparently broke down, getting worked on outside. My son fixes planes for the Navy and this was amusing to me remembering a snarky remark he once said- it takes a high school diploma to fix an aircraft, but a college degree to break them. Bwahahaaaa. There were a couple of lieutenants in the airport lobby waiting for the fix. Back to the food- which was delicious! John filled up fast on his plate- but he enjoyed all of it. I loved my fresh and seasoned perfectly lunch! If I had had a larger apetite, I would have opted for a dinner plate- because the food coming out of the kitchen, good gracious, it looked and smelled delicious! We eat at Elevation 89 monthly, normally have a burger or a sandwich. We were in the other night to celebrate our 30th anniversary and decided we would try the filet to celebrate. We received our food and the steaks were horrible. I have never had a filter with so much fat on it. My wife ordered medium well and I order medium rare, and both steaks came out exactly the same. The potatoes and vegetables were good, but horrible steaks. I would advise anyone going to stick with the "bar" type of food and if you want anything nicer, type a more upscale restaurant. read more

My only negative is when they are busy and the restaurant is full it can get noisy which is a problem in most other restaurants. The staff and the food more than make up for the noise level. The pierogi appetizer is very good - could be a great entree with some sausage. Speaking of sausage, there was supposed to be more than one tiny piece of sausage in my wife's snapper entree - that was supposed to be the source of the spice. My halibut entree was quite good - a smallish piece of halibut was accompanied by two nice shrimp and two nice scallops. The atmosphere - a sleek space mere feet from the runway at Ocala Airport - is always fun. But, the service - wow. It sucked. Ezra (I think that was his name - he was practically in the Witness Protection Program during our dinner) was pretty awful. Never asked about our entree. Never filled our water glasses. Let our plates sit there long after we were done. And practically threw our check at us. Also, you need more than one bartender when you're busy. Excellent food and service. The Lobster spring rolls were so creamy and hot with pieces of lobster that come with an Asian dipping sauce. Divine. The burger was cooked a perfect medium rare with a light smear of fig jam and a layer of goat cheese with pickeled red onions served on a bed of fresh spinach on a toasted brioche bun with a side if crispy french fries and some korean aoli. My partner had a philly cheesesteak that he said was very good. The smoky jalepeno margarita was ok. The sour mix was not to my liking but had a good spice around the rim that made up for the sour mix. Really nice to sit and watch the planes landing and taking off. Definitely 5 stars read more

This was recommended to me by a friend, and the meal was delicious. We ordered perogies for our appetizer. They came with sour cream and bacon on top. My mom ordered the shrimp and grits, my son ordered the lamb and had the osso bucco. Every meal was very good. Our server had a great sense of humor even though he had to pull a double. The cheesecake for dessert was ok, but not the greatest. We will definitely be back! The sunset out of the huge windows was an added bonus. read more

We were completely baffled standing there with our baby looking at all of the open tables in the restaurant. Now, I understand he was probably in high school, but the manager was right behind him, backing him up. Wait until he gets in the real world and learns you can't act that way. Yikes. Any other restaurant or company he would be fired on the spot. Maybe this is a good place for people that don't have children so cannot speak to that. But I can speak to the other parents who understand how hard it is to get a baby out the door and only having a finite time before they need to go home.
