Their hamburgers are great. Was told that the new owner isn't paying the employees. That's sad

The space, being in a new building, is clean, inviting, and still has a faint fresh paint smell even. The beef I got was excellent and both my grandfathers were beef ranchers so I know a thing or two about quality beef. The fish dip and potato salad I got--they have some ready-to-go sides like this--were also excellent. So the only reason I subtracted a star from an otherwise five-star experience was the lady working there. Now, she was perfectly friendly and nice, but she didn't know what a Kansas City strip was when I asked about one. She would only say "I'm from Miami and I've never had beef so good as what we have here" which fair enough for her honesty, but her knowledge of the product was not the caliber I expected for an outfit like this one. Still, there is no better beef for sale in the entire region unless you personally know a rancher. Beyond their fish dip I've not tried their seafood but looked good though less variety than Northwest Seafood has on hand. For a beef butcher, most certainly recommend.

Entering it kind of reminds you of a farmhouse, I guess. Pretty standard furnishings and decoration for a country diner sort of place. Of course, we were there for breakfast, so the standard diner breakfast was on the menu. The full menu consists of burgers, sandwiches, and a couple of barbecue dishes. If there were more screens mounted on the walls I would call it a sportsbar, but that isn't the case. Our orders were taken, and I had gone for eggs, hashbrowns, and corned beef because it was St Patty's Day. Realistically one of the few times that I have legitimately had food that was appropriate for the holiday. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time for a group of ten, so the kitchen and staff knew what they were doing. The food was fine... nothing to really shout out about, but also not bad. It was what I expected it to be, and that was good enough.

1906 Farmhouse 25405 W Newberry Rd, Newberry, FL 32669…read more ***SWILL ALERT*** Pulling up to the hitchin' post at the 1906 Farmhouse, all seemed well and fine. I don't mind themed restaurants (they can be fun). This place was designed to model the Farmhouse where the ranch hands gathered for meals before and after a long day of riding. I dug it. It gave off a warm, welcoming, one-of-the-family vibe. Kasey was my server for the meal and she was frowning before I asked one question. I placed an order for one Country Fried Steak with sides of Collard Greens and Mac & Cheese, along with some Strawberry Shortcake to round out the meal. I soon saw Cantankerous Kasey begrudgingly returning with my victuals. I don't understand this attitude. Am I supposed to be grateful she deigned to work here? Anyway, if any of you are curious like me, you may have often wondered what it was like to spend a day in jail. To that end, I admit, I got myself hauled off to the County Hoosegow. Wanting to make the most out of my tax dollars, I booked my stay to include lunch. The dry bologna sandwich you receive, along with the juice bag to wash it down, is something you try to forget. As I looked at the slop my trustee, Kasey, placed before me, I began to long for the county jail government issue bologna. The Country Fried Steak was fresh from the freezer and cooked with the precision of Stevie Wonder passing his behind-the-wheel driving test. I've been hit with hockey pucks softer than this garbage. The gravy was made in the Sysco factory and this had to be their bottom-grade slush. It was as tasty as flour and water. Wait. The sides were a step down from the entree, if that is possible. Just look at the pictures and tell me, does anything look appetizing? While I am not one to ever judge a book by its cover, as looks can be deceiving. In this case, they are not, and the adage 'a picture speaks a thousand words' is spot on. The Collard Greens were obviously from an industrial can. Hey, don't get me wrong, all restaurants use a food service, but you don't have to be cheap about it and try to finagle the dining population by using the lowest quality they have to offer. The Mac & Cheese looked more like something a dog regurgitated than actual food. It was dry and pasty on the palate--just the way it is not supposed to be. The Strawberry Shortcake is also food service, not unlike the stuff you got in high school, only worse. Kudos, 1906 Farmhouse, you officially serve Swill sans the fly. At least on this visit. The Big Boy says, "I wouldn't serve this SWILL to a dead dog."

The wings were flavorful, well-seasoned, and hit the spot, and the fries were crispy and satisfying, simple but solid. That said, when my friends' seafood boils came out, wow. The smell alone was incredible rich, buttery, and seasoned perfectly. I couldn't resist trying a few bites, and I'm glad I did. The potatoes and broccoli were especially good, soaking up all that seasoning, and the seafood itself tasted fresh and well-cooked. You could tell this is really where they shine. The portions were generous, the food came out hot, and it's definitely a fun, casual spot to go with friends. The atmosphere feels laid-back and social, which makes it great for group dinners. While my non-seafood order was good, seeing (and tasting) the boils made me want to come back and try a full seafood meal next time. Overall, a solid spot with great flavor, especially if you're a seafood lover. I'd absolutely return and next time, I might just give in and get my own boil.

The parking lot can get a little hectic, especially during busy hours, but once I got inside everything moved quickly. The service was fast and I really appreciated that everything is fried fresh to order, you can taste the difference. I got the wings and shrimp combo and added hush puppies. The wing batter was amazing: not greasy, perfectly seasoned, and honestly better than Popeyes or even KFC. A lot of places give you more batter than chicken, but here the chicken was moist and a good portion. The hush puppies were also surprisingly moist and flavorful, some of the best I've had since they're usually dry elsewhere. My find and I split the order and since we eat small portion we think that was a good portion for us and also had leftovers. Everything was so good I didn't even need sauce, and I'm a sauce girl through and through. Overall, great experience and I'd definitely come back when I'm craving something fresh, crispy, and satisfying.

That time has come, and we made a trip out to Fowler's Bluff before heading out to Cedar Key. Pulling up, there is some amount of parking out front, though you need to be careful where you park as the handicapped parking is non-obvious. Walking in, there is an outdoor bar on the right hand side of the building that opens a bit later in the day, then the main dining area is upstairs overlooking the river. We first went out to the dock and looked out over the water... a number of wave runner folks were pulled in for a bite to eat, kind of a strange subcategory of bikers for the area. Walking up into the dining area, we were told to seat ourselves, so we did, and our drink order was taken. The menu is exactly what I thought it would be... typical deep fried items with a leaning towards seafood. I went for the Mahi sandwich with fries. The food was good, and I enjoyed it. It is a different atmosphere from what you are going to get in town anywhere, but it is still a good time. Walking out we chose to go through the front door. To do so, we basically had to go through their kitchen area, which seemed strange to me. There is a very small gift store area up front with fishing gear and some snacks, as they also double as a bit of a snack area for the boat ramp outside. We may stop by again at some point, particularly if my sister is along... it is definitely her kind of place!
