I was out for a nice Sunday ride on the motorcycle, and when I do that I keep an eye out for places that I have never been to for a nice lunch, usually aiming for just before noon in order to avoid the church crowd. This restaurant has an entry on the corner of the building, with outdoor seating along one side of the building. I opted for the outdoor seating as it was a nice day. I was escorted out to my table, and my drink order was taken. Going through the menu, I opted for a burger with fries. It was quite pleasant out, and waiting for my food was not a problem. The burger was quite good, and the fries were decent as well. The price point is a bit more than most of the sports bars out there, but the Tioga area tends to boost the cost of things a bit. All in all, a nice place to have a bite to eat. I can see this place being very good for brunch. read more

Sitting here wondering what it is that doesn't draw me to this place time and again. Because don't get me wrong the food is good here. It's been about a year since our last visit and here's what I've come up with. 1. The water is terrible. Please buy a filter. I think it's the worst water I've had in a Gainesville restaurant. 2. This place can't decide if it's a restaurant or bar. It's loud. Very loud when full. I couldn't even understand the server and my husband had to sit next to me. The bar is the focal point. It should really be in the other room off to the side. It takes up too much space and it's obnoxiously loud. 3. The menu: Again. It's a bar menu. Large selection of handhelds. Few limited mains. Some salads. There are appetizers but this is the weakest link on the menu. 4. I usually love their off menu drinks. But they were both lacking tonight. I even asked for more purée to boost the flavor. The problem was I couldn't taste the gin. Just seltzer. The issue I have when I go out to dinner I'm looking for a meal I won't make at home and although there is a huge chunk of the population that doesn't really care what they eat as long as they don't have to make it , I don't fall in that category. I'm a foodie. Have traveled the world and know a good meal when it sits in front of me. The food here is decent but the ambience and awful water leaves me coming here last minute to find a bite. Went on Sunday, Tioga looked promising but ended a disaster, mostly due to overcooked eggs and a waitress who just did not care about her customers (we were the only ones she had) and remained in kitchen area. The food was overcooked, waitress just dropped plate on table and never checked back. My egg was to be over-easy, all the edges were blackened and hard. The bacon was overcooked as well, the rest was goop. Had to ask other wait staff to find her and come to our table. The place was not busy, perhaps 3 other tables with different waitresses. Went to local provisions for an annual alumni brunch and as always the food was good. The service was very accommodating to our large group. I had the honey butter chicken and bacon biscuit. I absolutely adore some of the staff, but I am not going back because of the lack of respect and customer service of one particular person who I have heard multiple complaints about from clients and friends. The food is still typically good, but when it's not? I don't feel comfortable having an opinion, nor am I asked about it. This is the customer service industry. If any of your staff cant understand their job and role in the industry they should be trained properly. Came here for brunch since it's been on my list ti try for a while now. Ambiance is 10/10, I don't know if the back wall always looks like this but it was green with specks of fall foliage, super cute. They also had a decorative pumpkin on every table and decorated the entrance. They offered inside and outside eating and it looked like their patio was pet friendly. I was a little disappointed with the brunch options, I was craving like a veggie hash or maybe an eggs Benedict but the options were more meat focused like steak and eggs, chicken and waffles etc. So, I opted for the build your own breakfast and got homefries, eggs and a biscuit and my friend got the croque madame. I was brought out the wrong eggs, which I was fine with then the waitress realized after and brought out my eggs so I lucked out and got two eggs. The homefries were great. The biscuit is a hard pass. It was burnt and hard. All in all was pretty lackluster. I may come back to try the lunch options one day but brunch was a meh. read more

What an amazing find! My husband and I were traveling from Clearwater FL to CT for the holidays and googled locally owned restaurants near us, when we found this gem of a restaurant in a great location! We couldn't have been happier with the service given to us (Abby was our server) and we had the opportunity to speak with the owners Mother, Patty, who let us try your dill fries (yummmmm) Both of our meals were outstanding! My only personal preference would be a balsamic reduction on the Brussel sprouts (again, personal preference) ..they were still yummy ! My burger was cooked to perfection and the Super Rad Salad was a must try! The desserts ...just get them...ALL lol Ps....kudos to both Patty and Abby for making my husband a cup of coffee to go knowing we have a long drive ahead of us! We will be back again soon! read more

Should be a four or five star kind of place from the looks of it but I really found them to be something more like a three from me. A few snacks and a couple drinks for two was about a hundred bucks and for that kind of money most all anyone would expect better. I won't mention some of the misgivings because they were taken off the check or taken care of; however, shouldn't pork belly be some kind of crispy creamy zen and not just disgustingly creamy? Maybe I missed it, but was the cheese plate supposed to be French Nouvelle? Was silly smallish and whatever was special with its wine pairing just wasn't. It really should be billed as three cheese sample with glass of wine. ....but, it's a nice space with very friendly if apologetically painfully slow service and well crafted cocktails. I've waited to write this review because I kept giving this place chance after chance (seeing as it had so much potential) but after eating there several times, for lunch and brunch, I just have to accept that this place is subpar. Today I was served a burnt biscuit, dry fried chicken and hard bacon. I asked for it to be remade, but after 20 minutes, no check in, and no new chicken biscuit I gave up. The shrimp and grits were beyond bland, even with the sauce. The bloody Mary was watery as if it had been sitting at the bar for a while. Unfortunately, the food here is consistently under-flavored and overcooked. *the Brussel sprouts are tasty although a bit overcooked* Now, I will say, although they are painfully slow, the servers and other staff are incredibly kind and friendly! Eat Local! I went for lunch on Saturday with a friend and it did not disappoint. I haven't explored much of The Town of Tioga but was happy to try out Local Provisions. The atmosphere was chill, they have outdoor and indoor seating. We opted for outdoor seating because it was a beautiful 75-degree sunny day! Now to the good stuff! Food! For the appetizer, we had the honey balsamic brie which consisted of brie cheese caramelized with strawberries, grapes, and walnuts served with baguette. It was amazing there was a mixture of sweet, savory, and fruity. Definitely recommend! For our meals, I ordered the chicken caesar wrap and added bacon because bacon is always a good idea! For my side, I went for the dill fries. My friend had the tender club wrap. with sweet potato fries. Both meals were delicious and plentiful. We had to get a to-go box! What a wonderful new addition to the town of Tioga! I was hipped to Local Provisions a month or two ago by fellow Yelp Elites and what a recommendation. I'm really big on enjoying a meal al fresca and Local Provisions offers lovely indoor seating and ample outdoor seating on their patio and bar seating. Right up my alley! I was drawn to my first lunch at Local Provisions because they serve oysters which is a rarity in Gainesville and I'm a biggg fan! So as soon as I saw them on the menu, I knew it was time to give them a try. My first visit, I enjoyed a half-dozen Oysters (I believe they're different than the current NOLA variety they offer) that were topped with Sundried Tomatoes and paired them with the Blueberry Beret cocktail. A light lunch, but a delicious one! I enjoyed my Oysters although the sun dried tomatoes were a bit chunky to be topping the Oysters, still yummy. And my cocktail was delicious and potent! My last visit to Local Provisions was a quick Brunch drop-in before my upcoming pedi appointment nearby. I was reallyyy pushing it because I got there at 11:55 and my appointment was at 1pm! I was quickly seated and paired with the lovely Vivica as my server. I let her know (in the nicest way possible!) that I was trying to enjoy my Brunch but stilllll somehow make my appointment on time a few steps away - She was on it! I ordered the Prosciutto Biscuits and Gray + a Mimosa (and asked her to bring the second - quickly!) I feel like I had barely made it through my first few gulps of bubbly when Vivica was back with my 2nd Mimosa and a hot plate of Biscuits and Gravy! YAS GIRL! We decided to come here for my grandma's birthday dinner. I made reservations the day before specifically for 6 outside. When we got there, however, we were told this would be a high top as all of their other outdoor tables are for 4 and were occupied. I wish I had been told that when I was making the reservation because my elderly grandma cannot get onto high top stool and needs the back support of a normal chair. We ended up having to pull her up a normal chair while the rest of us towered above her in our seats. Our food was good. I really enjoyed the seasonal raspberry cocktail. The buffalo chicken dip was a crowd pleaser. I ordered the beet salad, which unfortunately came out well past the time everyone else's entrees did. The salad was good but if I get it again I will sub the kale for a different leafy green. Of course we got the only dessert offered that night - maple pecan cheesecake. It was delectable. read more

I wanted to like this restaurant and had it bookmarked for a while, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. Went there as a group of 4, we were greeted and seated promptly. It was not busy around 6.30 pm and started getting a little bussier afterwards. Our server was kind and took our order in a timely manner. The menu is small but diverse, we ordered appetizers which included wings, cheese ravioli, a flatbread and a Caesar salad. Wings tested alright but didn't feel fresh. The cheese ravioli was so bland and soggy. The flatbread was burned. The salad was made with those first layers of romain lettuce that nobody uses. They were many black spots on the, and the edges were all wilted. Not to mention each of these items costed around $14 which was way overpriced for what it was. Then we had our Entrées. We got snapper with couscous and lobster and steak. The snapper was cooked nicely and that was the only good thing I can say about the food here. The couscous however was cold, it wasn't cooked evenly some darker bits felt like a piece of stone. I'd rather save my teeth and left it aside. The lobster and steak was smoky and had a good flavor but again didn't feel fresh. We ended up getting out of there paying $230 and sadly all of us experienced bowel issues right after we left the restaurant. The restaurant had an inviting ambiance with a nice decor and it's sad that the food is not up to that level. I won't be going back mainly due to the food saftey concerns that I have. Though it was a beautiful day, it was a bit hot in the sun, and the hostess was kind enough to take that into consideration when choosing our spot. I knew absolutely nothing about LP before making reservations. It was close, it was a beautiful evening and it looked promising. We were seated promptly and the waitstaff was quick with our drink order. That's where it began to fall apart. The first thing I noticed was how loud it was. Very distracting. Husband ordered the Buffalo Dip ($11) to be served first, followed by the Caesar Salad ($12). They arrived almost simultaneously and he said the dip tasted like ketchup on cheese, not very flavorful. The salad was truly sad. We both love a good Caesar but ended up leaving it. The leaves were the tough outer leaves of the Romaine and for the most part, they weren't chopped. It was so lightly dressed that we weren't sure it even was! On the plus side (if it had been good) - it was massive. For dinner, my husband ordered the fresh FL snapper with a tomato basil cream sauce and couscous ($21). He really enjoyed the fish, it was sauced proportionately and moist. The couscous was stone cold. I ordered the Grilled Pork Belly BLT ($14). It was promising! They were very generous with the pork belly bacon, but a single leaf of lettuce and two extremely thin slices of tomato with no dressing do not a BLT make (it said it had dijonnaise on it but I didn't find any); I usually don't drink liquids when I eat but I needed some to wash the first two bites down. I asked for a side of mayonnaise to help and by the time it arrived, my husband was almost finished his meal. My personal pet peeve is dishes not being cleared and that was the final insult of the evening. As a former food service employee I tend to cut some slack, but this was just a sad experience. It's a real shame because the venue was attractive, the food descriptions were great and the staff were all very pleasant. One and done. read more

Several references (website and sign over kitchen) of farm to table but unsure if it is based on the experience. All that being said, everything we had, from main to sides were overcooked. Brussels were over roasted and without any seasoning/flavor to save them. Burger was only available medium well, and it was there or above. Chicken was also dry and blackening was hardly so. Kids menu was typical bar type offering, nothing close to what we would expect from a farm to table type of offering. I love the concept. The idea of an indoor outdoor concept is more of what we need here. I definitely would go back. I really hope they expand their bar menu to show what liquor they have since it really only features 5 drinks which are vodka, tequila, or gin based. They do have whiskey and rums and could advertise this more! The wine selection could definitely be upgraded to better quality options. They're not bad but pricey for the quality they are serving. As for the food, I can't speak too much on it. I got the fancy oysters with the sun dried tomato and Parmesan but would get the original next time. These were ok. The flavors weren't really there for me. I wish they'd go the Savannah/ New Orleans route with garlic, butter, Parmesan crusted and served with a lemon wedge. Maybe even a dusting of old bay? That would sell me. Especially $14 for 5 oysters. They're not doing a grand opening yet which is smart. They're training people and getting their feet wet so they don't get bombarded and give poor service or quality. The pink drink is the blueberry one.
