Once more it was time to visit Pho House in Gainesville. I have loved this place ever since it opened, and when I go I know I am going to have an excellent meal. This time was no different, and my bowl of pho and summer rolls were top notch. Add to that being able to sit out on the sidewalk while eating, watching people stroll by, is always such a nice experience. I ordered Pho Tai, and let me tell you something it was the best tasting broth I have had in a Vietnamese place. I was feeling under the weather and I was feeling better by the time I was done. I could tell that it was made with care as it tasted very similar to my other best club place that is located in Hawaii. Hawaii is known for the best places to eat Asian food. Hawaii makes everything with love. I also ordered an original milk, tea, less sugar and the Boba was perfect! I could actually taste the black tea! I did a door dash order with Pho House and the food was delicious! I ordered their #22 vegetable and tofu noodle soup. The broth with tofu came separate from the vegetables so you can add what you would like. I am very picky about broths as they are usually too salty for me but I must say this broth is one of the best I have ever had! It had a ginger taste to it which was a pleasant surprise and I couldn't taste any salt which was amazing! They gave you a good amount of broth, noodles and sprouts. I wished though they gave mushrooms and more broccoli. I highly recommend this dish. read more

Ordered some Bun Bo Hue for takeout today, but a little bit disappointed in the quality of the takeout. The noodles were pretty overcooked and cut up, and there were barely any toppings. I wish it came with bean sprouts/lime/basil, like when I dined in person. Also the meat was overcooked in the broth, and was all the weird pieces that were hard to chew. Kinda sad because I love this place, but good to know that dining in is much better than ordering takeout. Will dine-in only in the future. read more

Delicious! I was encouraged to see several vegetarian options on the menu. I chose the Bun with fried tofu and tofu spring rolls (best veggie spring rolls I've ever had). The portion size was good. It was loaded with tofu, bean sprouts, and lightly fried onions that were still crispy but did not have a strong onion taste. The sauce was yummy and not fishy-tasting like some other Vietnamese restaurants. The price was acceptable (slightly on the pricey side). Our food came out fairly quickly even though it was a busy Saturday night. My only complaint is that they charged $5.50 for a small side of extra pho noodles and did not give us an itemized bill before checking out. When I asked for one, they showed it to me. This place was relatively brand new in downtown when I checked it out on a weeknight for dinner with a friend. The service was incredibly attentive, with what seemed like the owner himself frequently coming to our table to check in and ask if we needed anything. We ordered the crispy chicken wings to start and then we each got a bowl of pho. The chicken wings were so perfectly crispy with a sweet chili garlic butter sauce and crumbled peanuts over the top. I had the veggie pho, broth was very light and full of flavor, vegetables were plentiful. Also had the shrimp lo mein and chicken wings sharing this with my family. This place replaced Prum's Kitchen, a Cambodian spot. I was really sad to see them go but I am so happy they took over the spot! The owner's of this place used to own Bagels and Noodles on University (it's no longer there). The pho is amazing!! Great for cold nights or when you want something warm. The beef broth is amazing. I don't eat pork but my friend who had the Spicy pho bowl with pork broth said it was delicious! I had the Deluxe Beef Pho, and it truly is deluxe! The service is amazing! Seated quickly and you get your food quickly as well! My friend ordered the wontons as an app and it was delicious too! The place isn't big but they did great with spacing and tables. Based on the amazing Yelp reviews and a friend's recommendation, I decided to have a lunch at Pho House to check out the hype for myself. It's located downtown next to Cry Baby's and in the former space of Prum's Kitchen. Parking was pretty easy on the street and cost about .60 for 30 mins. I was greeted immediately and got a run down of the specials which included a beef stew pho that was not on the menu. I did get this to go as well. Once I arrived home, everything was packaged very nicely. The noodles and toppings like basil, cilantro, and thinly sliced white onions, were in to go box and the broth in another container. The broth was super flavored and had these huge chunks of carrots and beef just like a beef stew. You can tell with each bite that the broth was made with love and bursted with much flavor. I asked for a side of chili oil, and woo...this one was hot but very good. Overall, I really enjoyed the pho and I look forward to another bowl very soon! read more

This place has been on my bucket list, and finally went in during the Art Festival in downtown Gainesville. The interior is nothing of note and quite unassuming - a large open floor layout with a bunch of tables spaced around. There are a few pictures and artworks up, but it's definitely not super eye-catching. It was packed inside when I went, and seemed like there were one and a half guys (half, because one was mostly working the check-out counter and would assist tables occasionally) working the entire full floor. It took me a few minutes to get a menu and some water, but the way the waiter was running around (literally, I saw him jogging a few times), trying to get everyone situated, it was fine that it took a few minutes longer to order. My food came out quickly and was great. Very rich broth, which is always my favorite, and the meat was nice and tender. I'm not the biggest fan of the wide rice noodles, but it was still great, just a personal preference so nothing to fault about the restaurant itself.
