Chicken with broccoli and white rice

The food came out PIPING hot and was pretty tasty! Pretty standard for American Chinese food, I wouldn't say it was anything special but it hit the spot. It came in pretty large portions and the leftovers held up well. The service was fairly quick and the ambiance was alright, though I think it's meant to be more of a takeout place.

RE LUNCH Was in the neighborhood and in the mood for some Chinese. This is a fairly new place in a new Publix shopping center. So I figured it would be a better choice than the usual dingy strip mall takeaway spots. (But there wasn't really any difference.) For a new place, it wasn't so clean. The floors, windows, tables and sills were dirty, but not filthy. (Lost Star) There was a brisk lunch trade during my visit as noted due to the offered Specials for $8 that include lunch portion entree w fried rice and soda. I ordered the Lunch Shrimp w Mixed Vegetables in White Sauce. The entree was very good, especially since the GENEROUS portion of veggies and shrimp were PERFECTLY cooked in a flavorful sauce. The fried rice was BLAND and thankfully there were soy sauce and chili sauce packets available that I HIGHLY recommend you take with you to use -- or you could opt for just plain rice instead. A SOLID choice for vegetarians for something quick. Definitely an option to place your order, go pick up a few things at Publix and then collect your food afterwards. Lunch Specials are a good deal these days.

Food was good and the rice was even better! I always get extra shrimp and add egg to my shrimp fried rice. The shrimp were pretty big ! Will for sure go back. The ambiance was a little dull but the food made it for it. Service was great.

Welcome back, Gator China! It's still my favorite chinese restaurant in town. I was so sad to see them closed for so long while the new shopping plaza was built, but they are finally back and are just as scrumptious as ever. I think their wonton soup is the best in town and their chicken dishes are not super oily like a few other restaurants in town. There is limited indoor seating. It's more of a takeout place. Be sure to come for lunch from 11-3. Great combos!

Broccoli & Veggie Fried Rice Platter

This is a veggie friendly meal, something i wanted to try and it was delicious! Tonight I ordered a "Broccoli & Veggie Fried Rice Platter" with a Spring Roll, and it was only $10! I have also tried other entree's such as Sweet & Sour Chicken, Beef & Broccoli, Chicken Wings, Chicken & Broccoli and each meal was very flavorful! This location allows pick up orders, and dine in orders. It is very clean and the restaurant clerk and cooks are very nice!! If you are in the Alachua county area give Gator China a try!!

It can get pretty busy on the weekends, so expect a wait at peak times. I love the Vegetable Dumplings, Hot Dry Noodles, General Tao's Tofu, Salt & Pepper Eggplant, and Sichuan String Beans. We started with the wonton soup, which was visually beautiful. The broth had a rich, inviting color and the wontons themselves were excellent -- thin, delicate wrappers with a very flavorful filling. Unfortunately, the broth itself was a bit underwhelming and lacked depth. A touch of hot mustard helped bring it to life, but it needed more natural flavor on its own. The standout dish of the meal was the Mu Shu Pork. Absolutely fantastic. The portion was generous and the flavor reminded us of classic Mu Shu from WoHop in NYC's Chinatown -- high praise. The pancakes were incredibly thin, almost paper-like and nearly translucent, yet soft and perfect for wrapping. This dish alone makes us want to come back. The Bang Bang noodles were another dish that looked beautiful when served, but the flavor didn't quite match the presentation. The sauce seemed watered down and there was quite a bit of liquid in the bowl, which muted the overall taste. It felt very close to being great, just not fully there yet. Overall, this was a mixed but promising first visit. There's clearly real skill in the kitchen, and when the flavors hit, they hit well. We will definitely be back and look forward to trying more dishes -- and we'll happily update this review after our next visit.

My husband and I shared the dumplings and both loved them. The texture was perfect and the flavor was really good. The portions overall felt like a great size and everything tasted freshly made. I ordered the pork fried rice and really enjoyed dipping it into the house made dumpling sauce, which honestly made the meal even better. Our waitress was very pleasant, and made sure we had what we needed. The vibe inside was very quiet, cozy, and romantic, making it a really nice spot for a relaxed date night. The restaurant was also extremely clean, which we always appreciate, and there was plenty of easy parking. We'll definitely be back once they add the ramen noodles to the menu!

That said, the vegetable fried rice and dumplings were both a 5 out of 5. The dumpling dipping sauce was honestly one of the best I have ever had and really stood out. The staff was very nice and pleasant. The space is on the smaller side, which was fine since we went during a slower time. We were not able to choose our table, which would have been nice, and while you are not right on top of other people, the tables are close enough that it can be hard to have a private conversation. There were a couple things that held it back. I was served a drink that was close to eight months expired. I did not make a big deal about it and still drank it, but that is something they definitely need to stay on top of. Also, the menu said Pepsi products but only Coke was available. With better inventory checks and a more updated menu, this place could easily be a five star spot. It is just not quite there yet.
