Tarzan roll, black dragon roll, and protein roll

This is the second time my wife and I have eaten here. Both experiences have been good. We've eaten sushi both times. It's been good both times we've gone so far. No issues with the fish; it's been fresh both times. We've gotten some appetizers like krab Rangoon and the chicken skewers. Those were also good. It's not the absolute best sushi place in Gainesville, for me, but it's in the top 3. The service has also been good both times so no issues there. We've gone on Sunday afternoon both times and it hasn't been crowded. The food comes out as ordered and timely. The decor of the restaurant is fine but nothing special. There's no blinds or tint on the big windows at the front of the restaurant and it can be quite bright inside especially if you sit up front. I'd recommend they address that. Overall though Kasai is highly recommended!

Great spot right off of 43rd. We went on a Friday night. It was a little busy but we were immediately seated and our server came right over and was attentive and quick with her service. The food was prepared quickly and was delicious! The Hawaiian roll was amazingly delicious and is one of my favorites. The tofu cubes were the perfect crisp but I was hoping for a little more flavor. Maybe I will get a dipping sauce next time to give it a little more taste. The restaurant was clean and well-maintained. The whole experience was great! We definitely plan on going back!

Sushi assortment

The sushi is amazing They have a really good selection. They also have other foods including Bento boxes, poke bowls and an assortment of dishes

The sushi here was delicious and very fresh! There are tons of choices on the menu for sushi and other types of food. It is a bit pricey but not much different from other sushi restaurants in the area. The atmosphere is nice and clean as well, with pretty good service.

Based on the Yelp reviews, I have been wanting to try out Kasai for some time now. I stopped in for lunch and dinner to try out some different menu item. For lunch they offer specials which are priced pretty good. I got the yellowtail & tuna roll which came with a miso soup and salad. Everything was pretty fresh and came out pretty quick as there was not a lot of people there for the lunch hour. I was very satisfied with how many pieces of sushi you had in the lunch special. For dinner, I skimped through many reviews to see which roll I should try. It was between the rainbow and Kasai roll. I went with the rainbow roll and ordered the hot cucumber salad. The service during the dinner service was very chaotic. I came in around 7:30p and the dinner service was dying down. The hostess was somewhat dismissive and told me to wait at the bar area for my food and they would bring it to me. After almost 30 minutes, I went back to the service stand where she was like oh yeah here you go. So definitely I was not happy about that. However, when I arrived home I decided to let that go and indulge into my roll for the night. The rainbow roll's presentation is very pretty. I do appreciate how fresh everything taste and does not have a fishy aftertaste at all. I really enjoyed the hot cucumber salad as well. The cucumbers are sliced julienne style and doused in a very generous amount of hot chili, vinegar, and sesame oil. I could've ordered another round of this. It was spicy and tangy, and very good. Overall, I would definitely go back because the sushi was good and fresh! I would try out the Kasai roll next time for dinner but don't sleep on their lunch menu as well.

I came with a friend on a Monday night. The place was clean and the employees were friendly. We split two rolls (red dragon and Tokyo) along with a chicken pad Thai. Everything was excellent. They have a huge menu so I'd love to come back and try some more rolls. We had leftovers too. The service was a good pace and the server was friendly. I will return--and it's a great place for dinner on a Monday when restaurant choices are limited on Mondays in Gainesville

First! Shoutout to my fellow Elite Yelper Simone ! Read your review and decided to come in a grab a bite. Did not disappoint. Seated right away - server very attentive . Large menu so take your time. Everything we ordered came out promptly and delish. We will be back! You won't be disappointed

Overall: I like the place. It is open and when you go during the day a lot of outside light comes in. The service is good. Decent portion on rolls for the price. Ambience: For the folks living in Gainesville, this place replaced the Ichiban restaurant. It is in the same plaza as Blue Agave. It has its own parking. There is plenty of seating both tables and booths. You can have a large party here. It is very clean. I came here after working out so it be casual in the day. I believe it can be casual in the evening too. Your preference and level of comfortability. Service: I was sat down immediately. I got my food fairly quickly. I did wish the server checked on me more since it wasn't crowded and I needed more water and was waiting on the check. However, I believe the manager saw that I needed more water and refilled it. Food: About $30 before tip for two rolls that were 10-11 pieces each. I got the Angry Dragon Roll and the Rainbow roll. My favorite of the two was the Rainbow roll. I was a little disappointed at the angry dragon roll not being spicy as indicated in the menu. It was actually sweet. I think it's good but just not what I was expecting. More heat please! lol I would def come here again. I can't wait.

Kasai has a great lunch menu that has had me wanting to come back multiple times. I appreciate the menu has not just sushi but staple dishes like Pad Thai and some rice dishes as well. I've not been steered wrong with any of the choices yet! I think it's a great spot for lunch and casual date night.

I just ordered a meal for my father-in-law and my wife and I. We got three entrées and one sushi roll. I had somebody in the car holding the to go order so that it wouldn't get slashed around. This is what had when I got home. On top of that I ordered teriyaki shrimp. They were so overdone and obviously just frozen shrimp. Hard rubbery shrimp. And then I noticed that they charged me a five dollar service fee after I tipped well and overpaid for this mediocre meal. The service fee was not disclosed on their website. I would pass on this place.

Protein Roll

Went here for dinner while on a work trip to Gainesville. This place was recommended by a coworker of mine. I ordered the Jasmine tea and Miso Soup to start, which was very welcoming given the unusual cold weather in Florida. I ordered the protein roll and the steamed pork buns. The roll was good, although I would've gone for some extra spicy sauce with it. Overall, I really liked the service as our server was quick and attentive, albeit very direct and to the point when it came to taking the order (which is fine). I also really liked the artistry of the backs of the booth seats, which added a cool touch.

How is sushi?

The sushi is pretty good. I like it also because it came out cold. I do not like warm raw fish.

I always look for good restaurants and always try to find good venues to brighten my nights on these tournament travels. On my first night I found Arashi Yama, and Oh My Lord was I happy to find this gem. I ended up eating there the 3 nights of my stay. The food is fantastic with flavors so extraordinary you just close your eyes and savor them. As an ex-fine dining chef I try to get the full experience and decided to get different dishes each night. My favorites: Salmon Sashimi New Style, this was an experience on its own. I got that one twice! Carpaccio (I picked the salmon) Tuna Tartare Sexy Lady Roll (Riceless roll) Crispy Bok Choy: This one! OMG!!!! You can not not try it! Tuna with winter truffle The quality of the food is outstanding and the freshest you can find. The food melts in your mouth and the truffle sauce they serve on many dishes is to die for! The entire team is wonderful, friendly, efficient, attentive and very professional; and it's always nice to come back to a restaurant where they remember you by your first name! Being on my own I ate all 3 nights at the bar and got to meet and watch the sushi chefs (John Carlo, Steve, JP, Angelo and Mason) create these beautiful and delicious dishes. It was like watching artists create master pieces! Fannie (owner of the restaurant with her husband Benny) was regularly checking on me making sure I was happy with my experience. When I told her I would come back the next day she surprised me with a reserved the seat at the bar, it was so busy so hadn't't she reserved this seat for me I would not have been able to enjoy watching the chefs work and savor their works of art. Finally I want to thank the rest of the team: Chanel (Hostess) as well as the servers (Carly, Tasha, Annie, Savannah, Josie, Richie, Sophia and Sandy) and the Bar Team (Austin, Naylee, Kaithlynn and Fanny too for the wonderful cocktails). I just can't wait for April 15th when I'll be back for another stay in the area.

We arrived later on a Saturday night craving hibachi and sushi, and it definitely hit the spot. I ordered the steak hibachi with fried rice, and my husband went with the lobster roll. My meal started with a cup of miso soup and if you follow our adventures you know I love miso. They did not disappoint. It was hot, flavorful, and tasted freshly made with good ingredients. For a drink I ordered a Long Drink. We first tried these at a local festival and fell in love, so when we saw a citrus flavor we had never tried before we were excited to order it. My hibachi came out hot and smelled amazing. The steak was cooked perfectly and the sauce mixed into the rice was really good. I do wish they gave just a little extra sauce for the rice. The rice itself was a bit stiff, but the sauce helped a lot. We also came about an hour before closing, so we were not too bothered by that. Our waitress was good, and her coworker stepped in to help when she was busy, which we appreciated. I also liked that you can see the sushi chefs working right there, and my husband really enjoyed his roll. The restaurant was very clean, including the bathrooms, which always matters. I also have to mention the water because it actually tasted good. If you know, you know how rare that can be. They also have plenty of parking, which makes things easy. Overall we had a great experience and it was the perfect spot for a much needed date night.

Consider your drinks refilled! When it comes to food, understand that the sushi chef takes his time to craft art on your plate. Like seriously, look at the images I share, it's a masterpiece isn't it? So do expect a bit of a wait time but don't you worry, the fish are fresh! So order an appetizer why don't you, to keep ya tummy occupied whilst you wait. My partner and I started off with the seaweed salad and edamame. The edmame is heavy with the garlic, so do keep in mind that your breath will smell like jarlic ok? You have been warned. You could also make the edmame spicy, but that's an extra charge! The seaweed salad? It has a bit of twang to it, so it's lightly sour. No overpowering though like the ones you'd have at a grocery store. Now the star of the dinner my bae and I had... The spicy yellowtail was not that spicy for me, by partner though? He had to take his break hahaha. He got baby taste buds. It is fresh, and for you texture girlies, it is mushy. So, yeah, you may want to opt out on that if you are not a fan of cold mushy food. The big Mac roll? It was so good. All the flavors combined and dances on your tongue. In a good way though loves. In a good way. This one is not so mushy as the spicy yellowtail, you can tast the blend of different textures of the sushi. And they complete one another. The king lobster roll! Boy was this one good. So for you lobster lovers, this is a must have. There's good chunk of the lobster meet in each bite, so do expect a blend of flavors mt seafood lovers. Expect that.

The hibachi show itself was so fun and the chef was really nice and did all the normal things like the onion volcano and the rice tossing. He had a sense of humor and loaded up our plates. I got the chicken hibachi and my total came out to be a little over $20 after tip which for the amount of food we got, was definitely worth it in my opinion. The food itself was good, my only complaint would be it was a little too salty for my taste. Everything was still really good! Just a little too salty in my opinion. From the time we sat down to the time we got our food, we were not waiting that long at all and the servers were very nice.
