I went here for a lunch date, and I had high hopes as the reviews were excellent. Unfortunately I couldn't have the same experience, as mine was filled with bad service and a very small space that lacked ambiance. We ordered an appetizer that never showed up and tea that tasted weird but don't worry we were told thats what it supposed to taste like by our server. The bimibop we had was well flavored but unfortunately we couldn't enjoy due to poor service and ambience. Next time we will go across the street to Kinya Ramen. read more

A true gem can be found at Mini Momo. Now this is a bit hard to find because GPS takes you to a weird spot. But it's in the back of this shopping plaza. You need to park and walk a little bit and look for the white umbrellas which are next to the orange umbrellas. Lots of closed shops here, and a courtyard. This is a cute place and sitting outside is nice and dog friendly. Inside is cozy. Service is excellent, we loved our female server. Super friendly, smiling, checked in on us, fulfilled and delivered our order and made sure we were doing great. Even made great recommendations. Ordered the stone pot bibimbap and the Momo Korean tacos with beef and shrimp. Excellent flavor. Sooo tasty, our food was just too good for words and our service was even better. I have been here several times for take away orders and Saturday, my mom and I were craving some good Asian cuisine. We have dined at Momoyaki many times before and love their dishes. We went around 7:30p and it was a busy night as the patio was full. We ordered Korean fried chicken, veggie Kimbap, and Japchae with tofu. It took about 20-25 minutes. The hostess/waitress was very sweet and helpful. To start, everything was fresh. The Korean Fried Chicken was coated in gochujang sauce that was sweet and savory. They did not skimp out on the chicken. We had huge piece and it was a great portion. The kimbap is my favorite here and we were served these hearty portions that were filled with egg, carrots, spinach, and pickled radish. Lastly, we had japchae with tofu. The japchae has sweet potato glass noodles with veggies and is stir-fried. It has a great peppery kick. We had enough food to feed 3-4 people, so it was great to have leftovers. This was my first visit to this location and I was very impressed with the food. The Korean fried chicken had a sweet taste but not overpowering., the jap chae and veggie Kim bap were the perfect combination to round out my meal. There is a nice outdoor dining area and all the diners on this night were sitting outside. There was only one person taking orders and serving but it only took 20 minutes for my take out. I have been a momoyaki fan for years. (I have a "Momo till you can't no Mo'" shirt...) when I saw this spot opened, I had to check it out. I love the outdoor seating, and the food was possibly even better than I remembered! Fast service and very kind staff. Mini Momo was a little hard to find using Apple Maps, but it was actually nice walking around the plaza to find it. I was craving Korean food and remembered this place is run by the same people who have Momoyaki, so I wanted to check it out. It's a cute little spot with both indoor and outdoor seating. The waitress was really nice, though it looked like there were only two people serving, so they were handling all the tables. The menu here leans more Korean with dishes like bibimbap, pajeon, and tteokbokki. I ordered the momo taco and a side of sundubu jjigae. The taco came in a hotteok-style shell with beef, onions, lettuce, and a really good sauce on top. It was about the size of my hand and tasted great. The meat was seasoned really well. The sundubu jjigae had a lot of soft tofu, but the broth itself wasn't very flavorful and mostly tasted like spicy water. Even so, the taco and soup together were filling, and for about $13 it felt like a pretty good value for dinner. I recently visited Mimi Momo for lunch and had a nice experience. For my entrée I had the Stone Pot Bibimbap with Beef. Soft savory rice was nicely crisped at the bottom of the bowl and topped with crisp cabbage, carrots, and bean sprouts, wilted spinach, tender lightly sweet beef, and a soft yolky fried egg. A side of spicy pepper sauce was a nice touch to mix into the bowl. I also felt compelled to order the Matcha Green Tea Cheesecake for dessert. The Cheesecake had a very nice matcha flavor, was not overly sweet and paired nicely with the scoop of cool sweet vanilla ice cream. Overall, this was a quality stop for lunch. read more

Still as yummy as the first time I had mini momo. Everything came out pipping hot and so flavorful. My bf loved the momo taco with bulgogi. I had the shrimp bibimbap this time because I wanted something lighter. I might have to come by on a lunch time to try out their specials. Our server as soon as we came offers complementary tea. It was barley tea and I've never had it but it was cold outside even though we were sitting inside I was chilly so I got hot and my bf got it cold. It was soothing and helped me with some inflammation and nausea I was feeling. I felt much more relaxed and crazy I don't know if it has healing properties but I've been insomniac and I feel asleep so quick at night. Might have to get some barley tea for home. I ordered the wontons and they were so yummy. I love their sauce that they pair it with. It's sweet but not overwhelming. I saved it for my bibimbap. My bf had the galbi box and he loved it . We love how intimate and small mini momo is and hope that it can stay. Not sure how well they are doing but they are on the side of town that not many young people frequent. I saw people pass by and we came around 7pm on a Wednesday and there was one other couple with us but no one came in. I wish them the best because it's not a busy area of town in my opinion. I would like to see them last and thrive because frankly I love their quality better than momoyaki which I've had some issues with. My friend and I visited Gainesville and were looking for a quick bite in the area when we came across this place. It's located in a mini courtyard surrounded by other shops. Inside is pretty cozy with a good amount of seats. The worker was really pleasant and we had a nice conversation with her! For dinner we tried a new Korean spot called Mini Momo. It's located at 2441 NW 43rd St in the Shoppes at Thornebrooke Village in Gainesville. It's a cute little restaurant with four or five tables inside, but a lot of outdoor seating. Most of my experience with Korean food has been at AYCE Korean BBQ/hot pot spots or fast casual style like K-Bop in Jacksonville. Mini Momo looks to be a more refined, fine dining establishment with a decent wine and cocktail list. We started with the Twigim Mandu app. Its four fried dumplings filled with chicken and topped with mushrooms, green onions, and a radish sprout served with a sweet and sour chili sauce. These were fantastic. Fresh-from-the-fryer hot and crispy, delicious ground chicken with a little back end heat. For the mains I got the Beef Bulgogi Dosirak. Think of a Japanese bento box and you get the idea. The bulgogi came with steamed white rice and two sides. I chose the fried lotus roots and cucumber roll. The fried lotus roots are probably the best non-potato potato chip-style snack I've ever had. I wanted to buy a family size package of that and munch on them later. The cucumber roll was a nice cool refreshing bite when I needed a respite from the savory bulgogi. Now that bulgogi...so thinly sliced, it practically melts on your tongue. Marinated in a sweet soy sauce with onions that when the meat was gone, I drank it straight out of the bowl. Mah Wife got the Momo Taco. It's a soft and flaky taco shell made with Korean hotteok batter. It's pan-fried and filled with mixed greens, chicken bulgogi, kimchi, and spicy mayo. My wife's not big on spicy stuff, so she got it without the kimchi and spicy mayo. She let me have a bite of the chicken bulgogi and it was tasty. If you're looking for a new Korean spot, definitely check out Mini Momo. read more

Wowza. What a treat this place was!!! This quaint restaurant is set back from the streets amongst other buildings and it creates this whole feeling of being away from the rush and bustle of the outside world. The patio at night under the lights and trees was truly so peaceful. The staff were so kind and attentive. Multiple staff members came out to check on me as I ate. My waitress was so lovely and explained dishes I had not heard of and offered suggestions. Traveling alone for work has me eating many meals by myself and the staff made me feel comfortable. Now the food this was so delicious. Starting with the Kimchi scallion pancakes, these came with 4 pancakes about 4 inches in diameter. I could only eat two and saved the rest for another meal. Highly suggest these. There are other options for the pancakes besides kimchi if that is not your jam (but it should be). Next I got the bulgogi lunchbox lol with white rice, lotus root chips and a cucumber roll. Bulgogi was amazing, not too heavy m. The Lotus chips were very reminiscent of potato chips and a nice crunch (yum) and the cucumber roll was a great refresher after eating the other options. Finished my meal with the matcha cheesecake which was perfect- not too sweet. And I drank the black raspberry wine with all courses of the meal--this was a sweet wine and a great accompaniment to the savory dishes. read more

The service alone is 5-star with great attention to details. The outside patio is covered and white linen tables and lights invite you to join. We had the chicken dumplings for the appetizer. They tasted fresh , not frozen. Crispy with a little front end heat, amazingly served with the perfect dipping sauce. I ordered the Momo chicken taco, yes just 1.minus kimchi and spicy mayonnaise..the savory flavor was on point. (Michelin star) It was a sight to behold, plated with care. As for my bibimbap, everything tasted great and the ingredients looked fresh! It was filling but also felt light, which left me the right amount of room to order the fried yuzu cheesecake. If you've spent any significant amount of time in Gainesville, you know that Momoyaki is a mainstay. I'm so happy that they've decided to open up a new concept. Focusing on even more unique items, I have no doubt that Mini Momo will carve out a place for itself. The Kimchi Fries are dynamite! So full of flavor from the kimchi and the melted cheese, they top some deliciously crispy fries. The Momo Tacos are also fantastic. Using crispy scallion pancake-esq dough as the taco shells, these tacos are both filling and creative. The beef bulgolgi is so flavorful and pairs perfectly with the light and crispy pancake shell. Service is fantastic with super friendly servers that are knowledgeable about the food. Ambiance is spot on as well, with both indoor and outdoor dining. The food was delicious and didn't take too long to arrive. The service was really good, the place was slow, not that many people, when we went on a Saturday afternoon and then it started to pick up and there was only one servant because the second servant was late. So, water refills or the check took a little longer, but the service was outstanding. I'm sure this is not something that happens all the time, but it did not affected the experience at all. In the restaurant next door there's was a great band of jazz playing and the overall ambiance was amazing. The decoration with lights everywhere and the atmosphere with nature and live music made this place a great restaurant for a first date or anniversary. I highly recommend! read more

Each time the atmosphere in the outside patio area has been pleasant and inviting. This last evening was a beautiful warm evening. Although relatively busy staff remained courteous and responsive to requests. The Hot Pot was exceptional. Overall the experience gets a 5 star recommendation. Absolutely would recommend this restaurant for a meal. Has a smaller interior with large outdoor seating. Very cute aesthetic and filled with photos which add to the "homey" feel. The food was excellent. My partner and I split the seafood pajun (lightly fried, not too oily, large chunks of shrimp which were delish) and the spicy pork and pork belly dosirak. The dosirak by itself was very filling and had good portions of rice/meat. We had to also get a momo taco which was one of the high points - it's bursting with meat and veggies with all the different pieces coming together in a unique way. Our server was very attentive and explained any parts of the menu we were less familiar with. We even met the chef who was enjoying her own lunch in the restaurant - a sign of truly good food. Hands down the most memorable meal we've had in Gainesville! The Korean tacos caught my eye and my husband followed my lead. I had 1 bulgogi beef and 1 bulgogi Chicken.
