After my wife and I hiked Bolen Bluff at Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park with hopes of seeing some bison and wild horses, we headed out to Momoyaki to try out their Korean offerings. We liked the food at Seoul Pocha and we were hopeful Momoyaki has equally tasty options. We were a bit sweaty when we arrived for a late lunch, glad the lunch rush was gone. We were led to a table after what felt like a maneuvering thru a maze to get there. After looking at the menu, my wife opted for their Japchae and I ordered the Kimchi Fried Rice. We also ordered Kimbap with bulgogi meat. We were served some banchan prior to our meals and they were fine...3 different types with the kimchi broccoli being my fave. Their Kimbap was quite good! It wasn't served with a dipping sauce but the light soy was adequate. My wife thought her Japchae was just OK. My Kimchi Fried Rice was OK as well. I was so looking forward to trying it with the pork belly meat but thought the flavors were a bit muted when compared to other similar dishes we tried elsewhere. The portions were quite generous so we took home leftovers for later meals. Oddly enough, we both thought our meals were tastier the day after! Lunch for 2 came out to just under $57 with tip. Oh yeah, we never did lay eyes on those bisons nor wild horses. Honestly, it ended up being perfect--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The box came with a seasonal salad and a yummy "mom chip," plus 3 pieces of nigiri and 4 pieces of sashimi. If you haven't tried Momoyaki, you are missing out. I am not usually a big fan of asian fusion, but this proved to be an exception (and quite exceptional). The sikhye was refreshing. Sweeter than I expected, but served in a chilled glass and nice for a hot day. The momo taco with beef bulgogi was good, but my favorite was probably the "Just Trust Me" roll, where chef chooses the roll for you. I really liked what was chosen and probably wouldn't have picked it myself otherwise. The hot barley tea was a bit weak for my tastes. Hotter water probably was needed, but it was still nice. I have been eying this place for some time now and due to my cravings for Korean food - I decided to place a to go order. This business is located near Steak & Shake and before you get to La Tienda, which is a busy road. When parking, be mindful of the potholes as it does need some TLC. As I stated, I did do a to go order and went around 5pm and thankfully it was not too busy. I was in the mood for a bibimbap, which I ordered with beef bulgogi and the traditional way with a sunny side egg. I also asked for a side of kimchi. My hostess stated it would be about 15 minutes, so I waited inside at the front seating area. My order came out before the 15 minutes which was great. Once I got home, I was so ready to dive in. For starters, the portion size was HUGE. It came in a nice container with the rice at the bottom, veggies, meat, then the sunny side egg on top. The gochujang sauce came on the side. The beef was tender and very flavorful. I loved the way the flavors of the veggies and meat combined with the kimchi and sauce were complimentary. The one thing I did like was that the sunny side egg was fried too hard for me. I wasn't able to mix the egg in as much as I would have liked. I like this place a lot! Staff is always helpful, and they always check on you. I tried the Nangmyun. It was definitely a different type of soup for me since I've never got a cold soup before. The type of noddles were new for me, but I loved the taste. I also tried the Kimchi fried rice. They gave a lot! I was really tasty, but I was expecting a bit less cook egg on top. Located pretty close to UF campus, this Korean, fusion, and sushi joint is definitely worth a visit. You might ask why only 4 stars then, honestly service and a parking lot that needs some tlc. Now for the star, the food!! We ordered 4 dishes for 3 people and polished off every single dish. Hard to pick a favorite but I'm usually partial to anything eggplant so the KANPOONGKI was a hit. The BIBIMBOP was also pretty delicious with its sizzling and crispy rice, although we may not have let it sizzle long enough for more crispy rice. I have been to Momoyaki in the past, though it has been a number of years, and always it has been with a group of friends. This time around it was no different in that regard, as a friend was having their birthday and decided they wanted to go here. We were seated at one of the large tables as there were about a dozen of us. At one time I believe they had done hibachi in this restaurant, and this was one of the locations for that style of dining, but no longer. We got our drinks (water for me, per the usual) and then went through the menu. I decided on a Vegas roll and a Volcano roll (my favorite), along with an appetizer of the Yaki Mandu. Others ordered various appetizers as well, so we had a bit of a tasting going on that evening when sharing the various appetizers with each other. The Yaki Mandu was interesting, but I don't think I would go for it again. I prefer simpler dumplings, and the flavoring in these was not really my favorite. Once we got our mains (mine being sushi) it was on. The Vegas roll was decent, and the volcano roll had a good portion of baked seafood as the topping (which is correct). I loved that part. The prices were reasonable for this day and age, and the service for a large group as ourselves was also reasonable. I figure I would go back again at least for the sushi. read more

We started with a veggi Pajun scallion pancake which was an absolutely tasty delight - so much so that I only remembered to photograph it when we were halfway through. My Japchae was beyond addictive! Chewy glass noodles in a wonderfully smoky sauce with veggies and tender, equally smoky shaved ribeye. My husband ordered the Shrimp Yaki Udon. Delicious, but if you're used to the smoky Japanese or Chinese version you'll be surprised. This is in a tomato type sauce. Still quite tasty! Our meals were accompanied with three little pickle dishes of spicy kimchi, bean sprouts, and pickled diakon. A perfect pairing for the wonderful noodle dishes we ordered. I'm a bit picky with Korean food because I always compare it to my moms or in Korea, but I actually thought this was decent.
