food was just okay. not a lot of flavor. our host was polite and he seated us right away. our waitress was forgetful, a little rude and never offered refills on our drinks or water.

Sushi & Shopping Sunday - Yes!!! First time at Edo Japanese Steakhouse at The Oaks Mall--the vibe. A full bar inside the mall? Genius. You can swing by for happy hour before or after shopping. Treat yourself either way. We came in on a Sunday, sushi craving and a laid-back lunchtime. The space-- Big upgrade-- is completely remodeled, brighter, and way fresher than what was there before. Contemporary clean lines, modern feel--easy to relax in. Let's talk food: We kept it classic with a variety of sushi rolls, our picks: * Shrimp Tempura Roll * Spicy Salmon Roll * Spicy Tuna Roll * Yellowtail Scallion Roll * Tuna Roll Fresh, bursting flavors, and paired with all the good sauces-- satisfying. I had a crafted gimlet from the bar--sour, sweet, and totally divine. Might come back just for the cocktails. (Did I mention they have a full bar?) The service was friendly and courteous, and we felt taken care of.

Some of the best sushi in Gainesville! Their hibachi is also great, and you get really big portions.

The food was so good I almost forgot to post my pictures. I had an app, miso soup, and the Ocala roll. Service was great and quick. The atmosphere was a like a cute date night spot. Looking forward to coming back.

Solid sushi option in Gainesville. I was a little skeptical of eating sushi at a place in the mall, but decided to give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is nice, clean, and inviting. The sushi was impressive if not amazing. I would give it a try again if I was at the mall shopping with the family and wanted to grab some sushi on the way out. Service was also above average.

    Same presentation.

Ambience is very nice! The presentation for the sake is very modern and inviting! Service at the bar is very-very good Hamachi truffle- super delicious and presentation is very appealing.

Traveling through ocala and found this wonderful gem. 5/5 for food, service and ambiance. Cute and stylish restaurant with very clean restroom. The menu had some great options it was hard to choose just what to get but everything we ordered was excellent. The server was so sweet and everything came out as ordered. We would be here all the time if it were close to us.

Came here last Saturday for some pre Mother's Day festivities. Was skeptical since it's in the mall- but don't let that keep you from trying this gem out. When we arrived it was a bit busy and it was early afternoon. We waited a few minutes to get seated and it seemed like maybe they were short staffed or breaks. Nevertheless once seated we were taken care of quickly. Ordered some drinks first and they were fantastic . Next was the meal and we were so happy with the presentation and overall quality and quantity of the sushi. We will be back for sure! Another Gainesville win for sushi!

I went here in a Friday afternoon and was impressed by their lunch specials. They have sushi, teppanyaki which is hibachi style and bento box options. From those menus the teppanyaki caught my eye. It comes with so much food . It came with salad with option for ginger or ranch, miso or clear soup, vegetables, and your choice of protein. It is so filling. The food had great flavor and came out hot. My mom had the same as me but she got the shrimp teppanyaki and she loved it. We both had leftovers. The server was attentive and willing to explain items and their specialties to us. I really hope this place is here to stay. They have a variety of items in their menu from sushi to poke bowls as well. They have a nice bar area and a sushi area too where you can see the sushi chef at work. While we sat down we saw so many people come close to the restaurant and take a glance at the menu. I wish more people could come an enjoy this place. Everything is fresh and we had no complaints. For a $12.99 chicken lunch special offering , that can't be beat. Other restaurants charge almost twice as much. My only suggestion would be that the salad wasn't so wet and the miso soup just needed a little seasoning but nothing bad. I know they just recently opened but it is definitely worth a try .

Drink menus! Suburb drinks!! Happy hour Mon- Thur 4-6:30!

I always look for good restaurants and always try to find good venues to brighten my nights on these tournament travels. On my first night I found Arashi Yama, and Oh My Lord was I happy to find this gem. I ended up eating there the 3 nights of my stay. The food is fantastic with flavors so extraordinary you just close your eyes and savor them. As an ex-fine dining chef I try to get the full experience and decided to get different dishes each night. My favorites: Salmon Sashimi New Style, this was an experience on its own. I got that one twice! Carpaccio (I picked the salmon) Tuna Tartare Sexy Lady Roll (Riceless roll) Crispy Bok Choy: This one! OMG!!!! You can not not try it! Tuna with winter truffle The quality of the food is outstanding and the freshest you can find. The food melts in your mouth and the truffle sauce they serve on many dishes is to die for! The entire team is wonderful, friendly, efficient, attentive and very professional; and it's always nice to come back to a restaurant where they remember you by your first name! Being on my own I ate all 3 nights at the bar and got to meet and watch the sushi chefs (John Carlo, Steve, JP, Angelo and Mason) create these beautiful and delicious dishes. It was like watching artists create master pieces! Fannie (owner of the restaurant with her husband Benny) was regularly checking on me making sure I was happy with my experience. When I told her I would come back the next day she surprised me with a reserved the seat at the bar, it was so busy so hadn't't she reserved this seat for me I would not have been able to enjoy watching the chefs work and savor their works of art. Finally I want to thank the rest of the team: Chanel (Hostess) as well as the servers (Carly, Tasha, Annie, Savannah, Josie, Richie, Sophia and Sandy) and the Bar Team (Austin, Naylee, Kaithlynn and Fanny too for the wonderful cocktails). I just can't wait for April 15th when I'll be back for another stay in the area.

We arrived later on a Saturday night craving hibachi and sushi, and it definitely hit the spot. I ordered the steak hibachi with fried rice, and my husband went with the lobster roll. My meal started with a cup of miso soup and if you follow our adventures you know I love miso. They did not disappoint. It was hot, flavorful, and tasted freshly made with good ingredients. For a drink I ordered a Long Drink. We first tried these at a local festival and fell in love, so when we saw a citrus flavor we had never tried before we were excited to order it. My hibachi came out hot and smelled amazing. The steak was cooked perfectly and the sauce mixed into the rice was really good. I do wish they gave just a little extra sauce for the rice. The rice itself was a bit stiff, but the sauce helped a lot. We also came about an hour before closing, so we were not too bothered by that. Our waitress was good, and her coworker stepped in to help when she was busy, which we appreciated. I also liked that you can see the sushi chefs working right there, and my husband really enjoyed his roll. The restaurant was very clean, including the bathrooms, which always matters. I also have to mention the water because it actually tasted good. If you know, you know how rare that can be. They also have plenty of parking, which makes things easy. Overall we had a great experience and it was the perfect spot for a much needed date night.

To be fair, we went on an extremely busy Friday night with graduations and events happening all over town. When we arrived, we were quoted a 20-25 minute wait, which ended up being closer to 45 minutes. Things happen, especially on nights like that, so we rolled with it. After we were seated, though, it was pretty quiet for another 15-20 minutes before anyone came over. Finally, a young waitress came up and jokingly said, "Well, I guess I'm your waitress now," and apologized several times. Honestly, I appreciated the honesty because it genuinely felt like they may have been short staffed or had someone quit unexpectedly. Having worked in restaurants myself when I was younger, I know how chaotic nights like that can become, so I really tried to give them grace. Once things got going, the experience definitely improved. The chef was incredibly nice, and I was honestly disappointed that I missed recording his sweet egg flip on camera! Little by little, our meal came together and everything was cooked really well. The filet was absolutely delicious, and my favorite part of the meal was honestly the noodles. The chicken was also really good, and I happily took the leftovers home for lunch the next day. The miso soup had plenty of fresh vegetables and ingredients, which I appreciated. My only real suggestion for next time would be to at least bring waters to the table while people are waiting because I was incredibly thirsty by the time everything started moving. Also, I am sorry to the chef because I completely forgot to bring cash for a tip! Just as an FYI for anyone visiting, you can tip the hibachi chef separately too. And listen, it would have been a full five stars if we got the classic saki squirted into our mouths, but maybe that was just a "north" thing from back home in Massachusetts. Totally joking... kind of. Overall, we will definitely be back. Just know that if you visit on a super busy night, you should absolutely expect a wait. Also, it can get a little smoky inside during peak hours, so if that bothers you, it may not be the best fit.

We have been regular customers and have come every year for her birthday, but the service we received tonight was unacceptable. I called earlier the same day to let them know we would have a party of 13 at 7:30 PM. I was told they could not take a reservation without us being present, yet when we arrived we were told that we should have called ahead and made a reservation. We did try, and the conflicting information caused completely unnecessary issues before our evening even began. Once seated, we continued to feel unwelcome. Our order was incorrect, and although the chef corrected the mistake, the pricing remained the same even after adjustments. My daughter's birthday meal was only partially discounted even after I provided the proper documentation. For a $200 dinner, we expected at least basic courtesy and consistency. The service from our waitress, Jenna, was especially unprofessional. She was visibly rude without reason, argued with the chef in front of our entire table, and her attitude set the tone for the entire visit. Even when the chef arrived, the grill had not been turned on, so he had to walk away and wait for it to heat up before he could cook. This level of disorganization, combined with poor customer service, made what should have been a special celebration extremely disappointing. We have always chosen this restaurant for family occasions, Our daughter has made it a tradition to celebrate here for dinner instead of having a party, but after this experience we are genuinely unsure if we will return. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, addresses the customer service issues, and ensures that future guests are treated with more professionalism and respect.

It tasted mostly fresh, with the uni having the premium silky flavor, the ikura having the briny pop, and the scallops having the buttery texture with a hint of lemon since they sliced it. The rice was flavorful with the added seasonings. It was definitely a luxury splurge. And best of all, it was a great deal for only 30 dollars. The soup was nothing special, but still refreshing and enjoyable. The service was pretty casual, but quick and friendly. The atmosphere is very casual with a limited amount of tables, and the sushi bar is pretty small. When you enter, you would think it was just a counter service or takeout restaurant.
