I liked Ninja enough to visit twice during my two weeks in Ocala last December. It's got an unassuming strip mall location and that kind of standard elegant sushi restaurant look to it. I had Thai on one visit and sushi on the other. The Thai was decent. It didn't have a lot of spice for medium which I ordered to be on the safe side. Probably should have went with medium plus or hot. The sushi was very good. I don't know how much competition they have in Ocala but I could definitely see this being a regular spot if I lived in Ocala. Service was fine, I've got no complaints there. The one very memorable negative thing I noticed on both visits was they were absolutely blasting the AC on both visits when it wasn't anywhere near scorching outside. The first time I had on short sleeves and was near the edge of my comfort level- I nearly went back out to my rental to get a hoodie. The second time was later in the evening and it had cooled off a lot outside but the air conditioning was still working like the restaurant was on the planet Venus. Like the knob was on 11 like the amplifiers on Spinal Tap. Fortunately I was dressed appropriately this time but I did hear a large table of older ladies complain about it multiple times before bringing it to the attention of the server. Resolvable temperature concerns aside, I'd recommend the sushi here and give the Thai a second chance as well. read more

This place was amazing! I wish we had this place where I live! The service was amazing the lady was soo nice and made you feel like you were home. The food was so good and flavorful! I love how they give you wonton chips and sauce the prices were really good for quality and portions! The music and decor and the little sauce dishes that hold the soy sauce make this place even more unique. Very clean and had a lot of variety and very pleasant if I lived there I would be a regular. Great experience dining here. I had a party of 4, plus a toddler and a baby. They were extremely helpful during our dining experience. We got the sashimi plater, dragon egg, hibachi, chicken teriyaki . The dragon egg was a cool dish and full off flavor. The sashimi plater was just okay, it was not my favorite dish. The hibachi plate, steak and shrimp was decent but it lacked some depth to it. It needed more seasoning and flavoring. My toddlers chicken teriyaki plate felt more flavorrful then most of the dishes. This is our second time here. We were late arriving but the staff had zero problems feeding us (and feeding us well!) we had hibachi this time and red curry. I've only ever ordered takeout at this place but for sushi it's pretty decent. When I went to pickup my order I ordered a party platter for a family dinner and it was made quickly and played beautifully. I also ordered a pad Thai on the side and was disappointed by the taste of the pad Thai. It really lacked the Thai flavor and just tasted like plain noodles. I would recommend this place for sushi only and not for pad thai. I like that they have sushi platters which makes it easy for parties and dinners. A friend and I stopped here while we were in town for a late lunch! The food and service were excellent! For starters, not pictured was the pork gyoza steamed and edamame. For entrees I had the Maki B sushi combo which was delicious and included tuna, yellowtail, and California roll. My combo came with a side salad and miso soup. How about some really different kinds of sushi? This place had a unique menu that is sure to please everyone. We got four different rolls, pad Thai and the fried calamari. One roll was a Kobe beef, a Mexican roll, one called Selmon? and another I can't remember the name. All the food was delicious though the calamari was a little tough. This hidden gem in Ocala has become one of our favorite sushi spots. They are always friendly when entering and do their best to seat us as quickly as possible. The location is very small so on busy evenings you may wait a short bit for a table. My boyfriend and I decided to stop in after a long day of errands and shopping. This was his first visit as I had eaten here before, and he was very impressed with everything we ordered. One thing that sets them apart is that they bring out fried won ton "chips" with a fantastic dip as a complementary appetizer while you wait for your order. My boyfriend loved these so much he asked if we could have a second basket which they cheerfully brought us. We ordered the Ninja roll, Super Mario roll, Silver Springs roll and a Kobe roll. All our rolls tasted fresh and uniquely flavored. Our favorites were the Ninja and Kobe. They also were offering Sea Urchin Sashimi. My boyfriend splurged and ordered one piece to try. I wasn't feeling brave enough but he said it was pretty good. We enjoyed our dining experience and will be returning. Prices were decent for sushi with our most expensive one being the Ninja roll at $19. But this roll had king crab and lobster in it so we felt it was priced well according to how elaborate it was. Besides the chicken that somehow is better than Tony's Sushi, the rest of the food experienced was bland and lacked salt . The noddles lacked flavor and sauce & the fried rice was basically flavorless as well. The spring rolls were pretty much empty (like eating the fried outside with only air inside). This location is dishonest about costs and provides misinformation when ordering. When placing an order for 7 hand rolls and 7 regular rolls, the system shows a cost of $6.95. I added this to my cart. The cart showed $6.95 as the order and $7.44 total after tax (picture of order attached). After placing the order for pickup I received a call to verify that I wanted 14 rolls, I asked how much and was told $6.95. I thought I was verifying that I wanted to end up with 14 pieces of sushi, however, when I arrived to get my order it was $104 and there was over 100 pieces. The employee changed the order to 14 rolls versus the 1 I had intended to order. Unfortunately, this location will take advantage of people to make money. I cannot and will not recommend it. Ben's parents stumbled across this find while our checking out their new town of Ocala and they love it. Accidental finds can be the best. We started off with a order of the calamari, which was good but small in size. Given the price point, it is fitting for the amount though so if there are a few people, you may want to order 2 or get another appetizer to go along with it. Ben's mom went for the Dollar Bill Roll that she discovered she loves and I have to say the size of the fish pieces in this roll are huge. The roll itself is large in size and I joked with her that there was no way she could eat a piece in one bite. I got the Ninja Special Roll that has fried king crab and lobster and mine was good, could use more crab and lobster though. Ben got the Dynamite and the King Crab Roll, on the king crab they have lettuce in it which is listed BUT the amount of lettuce was way too much and Ben only ate about 4 pieces because it was just way off on taste and texture for sushi. For $15.00 that is really not good that 3 sushi lovers all said the same thing and wouldn't continue to eat it. Our server was young and I am hoping that he was just learning the ropes as when they brought out the A La Carte sushi Ben's mom wanted he immediately asked us if we wanted our bill and boxes. All 3 of us still had our rolls in front of us and he just brought out more food to us. We agreed and started to pack up our stuff. Got two sushi rolls to go with two hibachi combos. I walked in and was greeted by the hostess who had my order ready. The rolls and salads were separated from the hot dinners and soups. Stumbled upon this place craving sushi on our way home from HITS Ocala headed back to the Villages. Great fresh sushi and lots of creative rolls. Loved the crazy girl roll and my usual salmon and avocado. One caution. The wine bottles are double bottles. Three of us girls, each about to order a glass so we go for the bottle expecting a normal sized bottle and everyone gets a little more than one glass and it's usually a touch cheaper. Our comes this massive bottle of white wine. Well it was really what we needed and we laughed and ate and drank until we finished it. Our server was also super sweet and attentive. We stopped for dinner based on good reviews. This was probably the worst service I have had in many years. The food was okay, but not worthy of more than 3.5 stars. They forgot to come back and take our order (i asked for another minute when they first came by). We flagged someone down to take our order, they passed on by, finally someone else noticed and we managed to order. The drinks never came, we watched all other tables (including two that came after us) being promptly served while we waited, waited and waited some more. One salad (we ordered two, mentioned it and never saw the second) and the soups finally arrived with the sushi, not before. We were craving some late night sushi cravings and so we headed to Publix to pick some up when lo and behold, we saw this restaurant right next to it. Hello! It's a small restaurant in a strip mall but it looks like it is well known among the locals. There was a large group having what looked like a family gathering when we walked in. Service was very prompt. We ordered the dollar bill, salmon, and yellowtail scallion roll. I had such high expectations for the dollar bill roll given how the photos looked but it ended up not having much flavor. It tasted like just a bunch of raw fish mixed together, no brightness or acidity to elevate it. It was also kind of expensive compared to other sushi places in the area. The salmon roll and yellowtail scallion rolls were fine. I might go back to try some other rolls and see if there is more variety in flavor. read more

The soft shell crab was cooking differently than most soft shell crab, but the meat was large and it still tastes good.I wish it came with ponzu sauce but it came with Thai chili. The salmon skill roll was good, and had more cucumber than salmon skin, but not a huge deal, and I even ordered a second one afterwards. Warning! Do not fill up on the complementary wonton chips & "salsa" or you will have no room for the rest of their great food! The sushi is fresh, well prepared, and tasty. Even the salad dressing tastes homemade. My only quibble is that chirashi is supposed to be sashimi over rice in a bowl. Unfortunately, mine was a platter with a mound of rice in the middle, which makes the rice basically impossible to eat. The platter arrangement also makes it look like you are not getting very much fish. Nevertheless, my next trip to Ocala will definitely feature visiting this restaurant again. read more
