While the rest of the family was out of town, my son and I were on our own for dinner and decided to try this spot after he'd been craving sushi. We've been searching for a place that consistently delivers quality, and unfortunately, this wasn't it. I ordered my usual volcano roll along with another house roll, while my son chose two different house rolls. The restaurant being a bit busy gave me some hope, but that didn't translate to the food. The volcano roll was a letdown from the first bite. The second roll was slightly better, but still nothing I'd go back for. My son enjoyed his meal, though his standards are a bit more forgiving than mine. One noticeable issue was the rice--there was so little of it that the nori was visible through the roll. Rice is the most basic and cost-effective ingredient, and skimping on it made the rolls feel lacking in both substance and balance. Overall, I wasn't impressed with the food. The presentation was solid, but that alone isn't enough to carry the experience. Service and ambiance were decent, but not standout. 2 out of 5 stars. TTFN read more

My wife and I went back to Akita Sushi at lunch time on a Friday. The place was busy but the attentive and friendly server was staying on top of things. There must've been 7-8 tables occupied while we were eating lunch but service was efficient. My wife, always eager to try new things, ordered the Tofu Teriyaki bento with fried gyoza instead of shrimp shumai (shellfish allergies). She also ordered an Alaska roll. I opted for the Hibachi Combo of steak and shrimp. I also ordered a Spicy Tuna roll. Upon tasting the tofu teriyaki, my wife's eyes got big and said OMG! She was wowed by the flavors! She thinks, for that dish alone, Akita deserves 5 stars! So here I am updating my review. Perhaps my wife will keep on ordering this dish for our future visits. read more

A good spot for sushi lovers. The location is not only convenient but also offers plenty of free parking, making it hassle-free to visit. From the moment I stepped in, the friendly service stood out. The staff went above and beyond for us. Their attentiveness and warm demeanor truly added a special touch. Now, let's talk about the star of the show - the sushi rolls. Fresh fish was crafted into delicious assortment of rolls. What's even better is that these rolls were aggressively priced at $5.75 each, offering incredible value for dinner. This place should be on your shortlist for sushi, not just because of the rolls but also due to the outstanding service that accompanies them. Salute! read more

Great service and delicious food. A little pricey but expected for this side of town.

My mom lives in Ocala. So when I come to visit her, I rely on Yelp for suggestions and ideas. I had to call as their online menu was not allowing ordering, they gave me their new address and I submitted to Yelp for update. On their online menu and they have lunch specials on Saturday. I opted for the sashimi lunch special which was sashimi, California roll and soup or salad. I ordered the soup. I ordered it then left to pick it up. I checked Before I left the parking lot (but already in my car) There was no California roll just the pieces of sashimi. I go back in the restaurant and I said there is supposed to be a California roll with this. She said no roll with sashimi, only sushi lunch has the California roll. I said I ordered it off of your new website and supposed to have a California roll. She said yes that's a mistake. We have to update it and then she hand me a menu where she crossed off the free California roll. If somebody orders it from your website and it said that it came with a California roll. they should've honored it. They did not. I had to pay for the California roll that was supposed to be included in my lunch special. 2 pieces of the sashimi I threw out due to their color. It was a nice presentation but I wanted what I ordered and felt this was deceiving read more

Daughter, Granddaughter and I went for a special dinner last weekend. We were greeted as if it was a 4 star establishment, the server, never was off tract thru the whole dinner. She was gracious, knowledgeable, seemed to understand our "wants". We had assorted food, daughter had 2 rolls, nicely presented... but I was apprehensive about the sanitation of the silk flowers, but thatvsaid both rolls well made and she enjoyed them. Granddaughter had a sweet potato roll, as she is allergic to seafood, and said it was delicious. She also had the steak hibachi. The steak was on point , rice well cooked and she had lunch for the next day. I had scallops and shrimp hibachi . I usually say I need more sauce! This sauce was thick, warm and delicious but ... for me, too much of it! This little place is in a shopping center and not well known. We'll be back.... read more

I came here last Sunday and ordered the chirashi bowls and Hamachi kama. Being from out of town, here in Ocala, Florida for business, I was so grateful for the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The owner was exceptionally kind and friendly, and the hostess was equally as lovely. I enjoyed it so much that I came back twice for lunch, savoring the Akita sushi roll and chicken teriyaki. The food was not only delicious, but the service was outstanding. I felt truly cared for. I'll definitely return whenever I'm in town. Highly recommend this place for both the food and the hospitality! read more

Placed a Togo order. Everything was perfect! Steak and Shrimp Bento box was sublime !! So much food. She also reminded. If I wanted it medium, and it was Togo. Maybe order medium rare so it'll be perfect when we're home. And it was ! Edamame seasoned to perfection. Ginger dressing truly drinkable so yummy. Order take out on New Year's Eve. Hot lobster roll and soft shell crab roll and dragon roll. All were good. They were very accommodating as the menu was outdated on Yelp but she agreed to make the rolls anyways. Would definitely order from again. read more

The service was amazing. Very attentive and helpful. Big sushi eater and the food was fresh/delicious. We had the Tuna Tataki for appetizer and ate so quickly I didn't get a photo. We had the Fire Tuna Roll and the Naruto Roll. I don't eat rice and to find sushi that accommodate is hard, but this place exceeded. Now I have a sushi go to when I'm visiting my parents. Bad smell to the fish and small slices and rice falls apart when you try to put it in the soy sauce

Always excellent sushi. We had lunch there today. Greeted by the young lady. She took our drink orders and once the drinks came, we placed our food order. Never had a bad time in there. Everyone is very friendly and nice. We always pay with cash. Thank Akita for a delicious lunch. read more

I gave 4 stars because it was decent, but likely won't be a return stop. We ordered a few types of Maki rolls (sweet potato, crab/cream cheese, avocado) and a hibachi. Hibachi sauce was on sweet side, which was new for me. The crab wontons were delightful. We also fought over the last piece of crab/cream cheese. Let me be clear, the food was decent. If it were 10 miles closer to me, I might go again. It just wasn't worth the trip. My main recommendation to the staff though.... please be more pleasant and friendly. I was not blown away by the hospitality. read more

This is one of my go-to spots for sushi and bento boxes and usually it's all very good. great food, fast service , very fresh fish. The hibachi is wife favorite. But I like sushi. Jade is very friendly.

I used to go there a lot and loved the food! No more... the ponzu sauce tasted like the oil might have been rancid. I ordered Tuna Tataki and sent it back after one taste. Then ordered a tuna avocado roll - same thing. Told them it was bad. They did not take anything off the bill. Then they had the audacity to ask if I wanted a to go box! Not sure what happened to this place but it's a shame. read more

Excellent Sushi and best of all good atmosphere and service. I highly recommend this restaurant. The prices are very comparable.

This place use to be under different ownership. We loved it then. We were tragically disappointed when we went in and ate with the new owners. This place was Grace in 2018, then they moved across the street and became Asian Kitchen. I did not know this the 1st time I went in to Akita's . I was heartbroken, Ltd menu, higher prices, not as fresh. Took us 2 months to find The old Grace was now Asian Kitchen. So happy about that. They are the best in all areas. Having said that I went back and gave this place another try. Here is my take. If you are looking for noodle dishes, or older style Japanese food, its not bad, prices do very. People are nice enough, the menue is just limited in my eyes, most of all the sushi section. Paying about 20% more than A.K. for sushi. But it is small and quiet, and usually never crowded. Whatever that represents! read more

Well made sushi, nice portions, fresh and quick service. Sashimi was fresh, cold and nice mouth size.

My boyfriend and I have eaten here more than once a week since it opened. The sushi is delicious and the service is exceptional. Meh. It's OK. I liked the restaurant that was here before they bought them out. The rolls aren't done very well. They were really unevenly rolled. Not very much rice. Maybe the sashimi is better. It's the only sushi place for 7 miles. I wish there was a better place nearby. read more
