Not the best sushi I've ever had. Service was very friendly and quick even though it was busy. The ambiance isn't as good as Edo which is maybe one mile away. If I'm recommending for sushi and sashimi then I'm recommending Edo sushi. It's good it's just not great. They also have a fish tank at the entrance with way too many koi fish in it. Fish tank and koi fish shouldn't be in the same sentence. read more

It was Father's Day and my wife and I were deciding, after church, where we would go for lunch. We came up with some options, then I suggested Tony's Sushi since it has been a hot minute since we've had sushi. New to the area, we've seen ads for Tony's Sushi and since the weather was supposed to hold up until later that night (just washed the truck the day prior), we plotted a course to it. Upon entering, we were immediately shown a table that just happened to be right where wait staff and bussers emerge from what looked like where they wash dishes. In any case, we perused the menu and opted to order garlic edamame as an appetizer. My wife ordered the chicken katsu with salad and I ordered the tonkatsu with miso soup. I also ordered the spicy tuna roll. Understanding that it's Father's Day, even if it was a late lunch, we were expecting slow, possibly uneven service...and that was the case. The sushi, salad and soup were served long before the edamame appeared on our table. I suggested perhaps canceling that order but my wife insisted we have it...and boy am I glad we kept that edamame order as it was the best part of the meal! The edamame was warm and had that muted roasted garlic flavor. That was very good! The spicy tuna roll tasted fine but the nori seemed a bit tough, like it's been moistened, as I had to chew through it. Both the chicken and pork katsu, while having the distinctive crispy exterior and tender meat, lacked flavor, necessitating a generous dip into the katsu sauce that wasn't lacking in tanginess. Our server was extremely polite and provided attentive service. What was off putting to us was having to see white napkins being left on the floor leading to the narrow passageway to what seemed like where dishes were washed. Countless servers, bussers and other employees just walked over it or kicked it aside but nobody picked them up! Oh yeah, good thing service was slow because while we were eating, it just started pouring like cats and dogs. By the time we finished our meal, the sun was shining. A Saturday trip to Ocala to the outdoor expo, and a concert later at the Reilly Center. We decided on Tony's Sushi at the recommendation of a co-worker and friend. I started with onion soup and a Dragon roll for Dawn. I also ordered the Tonkotsu with fried rice. The onion soup was served quickly and hot, and it was delicious! Chris, our server, was excellent, very prompt and professional with his service. The main dish was prepared well, as was the fried rice. The portions were ample, and the overall ambiance was great. I been craving for a Japanese steakhouse quite a while, so I decided to visit this place during my staycation. My hotel was very nice to make a reservation for me, and I arrived at 7:30 in the evening. It was a bit crowded, but they were able to put me in a hibachi table with a group pretty quickly. I did the filet and shrimp with fried rice (about 28.50). It also included soup or salad (I chose soup), vegetables, and noodles. The soup was onion and had the perfect temperature. Just warm enough to enjoy without being scalding hot. The onions made the broth flavorful. Our chef came a couple minutes later and did the cooking show for us. He did the rice first, which was nicely fried and flavorful with the garlic butter. My filet was cooked perfectly at the rare requested temperature, making it melt in your mouth juicy. The shrimp tasted a bit sweet with the sauce, but it was still plump. The noodles also tasted a bit sweet, but still good. The vegetables were cooked just right, and adding the yum yum made it very enjoyable. Just like Kobe's, there were plenty of food that I saved some for the next day. The service was friendly and quick. Our chef was very entertaining and did some nice tricks like throwing small pieces of vegetables for us to catch in our mouths, the famous onion volcano, and even sake shots poured into our mouths. It was a Kobe's quality show. The atmosphere is pretty casual with just a few hibachi tables, and the rest being the sushi bar area. There is no outdoor seating that I saw, and the chillaxin music was only heard outside. Parking was pretty easy at the complex. I was very happy to learn that this restaurant did hibachi as I only thought it was a sushi restaurant. I got almost Kobe's quality show and food at a much cheaper price. 18 percent tip was automatically added to the bill, which still made it a good value. My hotel made a great suggestion and it was just 10 minutes away. This is now my go-to hibachi restaurant in the Ocala area. read more

Check out Tony's sushi that's been around for 24 years. I can see why. From the warm welcome, to the wonderful recommendations, excellent food and great prices, you're in for a treat. We had the patriot roll, shrimp shumai (steamed), pork gyoza (fried) and the scallops and shrimp hibachi. It was excellent and the customer from the staff and our server Natalie, was great! I would've liked the shumai to be hotter but even with that, it was still a great experience in a beautiful and clean atmosphere. My family of six went to Tony sushi for hibachi for my daughter's birthday. The same night those of us who got scallops which was four out of six of us got massively sick. I will be honest and say that the shrimp and scallops one of them had a fishy smell when it was put on the hibachi grill and I should have said something then but I didn't want to be that person. But I think it should be known to everybody it it's their fault and mine because if I had questioned it instead of just trying to deny it in my head we wouldn't have gotten sick. I have also chosen to make this review because it was an expensive night just to be sick. We ordered seven orders of sushi all of us had hibachi and drinks. To darn shame I wish I would have spoke up sooner. And they should also hold better quality seafood we used to come here very often and will not come back after this experience. read more

Stopped here while shopping Ocala. If you are dining in the tabled area I would say don't bother. Maybe the hibachi is better. Unimaginative and not remarkably tasteful sushi. I don't think you'll get food poisoning but your soul may shrivel slightly. The main dishes were colorless masses of ick. Two separate and different orders came out looking the same unappetizing brown color. The service was standard and I've no complaint there but the food was unremarkable. read more

So we brought a party of 8 people and we had a reservation. The waitress was cool but the chef looked like he wanted to die the whole time. He was definitely less than enthused. Everything was good tasting but a different waitress, an Asian lady, came and gave us boxes and our check immediately after the chef finished cooking before we even finished eating. Which seemed strange. We weren't even asked about dessert which I most definitely would've ordered. So we just paid and finished our meal. Immediately after we finished the same lady came back to our table and basically told us we need to leave because she has other people waiting for the table. What an amazing find in Ocala!! This was seriously the highlight of our trip!!! I love hibachi so I have done a lot of places. I am picky with my hibachi. And this place won me over and I totally recommend. What looks like a hole in the wall restaurant outside is actually a very nice restaurant inside!!! The menu was extremely affordable. My husband and I left with under 25 bucks each and that included sake!!! I ordered the shrimp and my husband ordered the chicken. The place includes an order of rice AND noodles!!! So much food I seriously took home and had leftover for two days after. The show was amazing!!! The guy was so much fun! I came here with my wife on our trip to Ocala. And I'm so happy that we stopped by this place. At first we stopped because my wife loves hibachi and she was so excited to try it out. This place won me overrrrrr. Pricing was amazing. Very very affordable for hibachi. In Miami everything would be like double the price. And the portions were hugeeeee. It brought rice noodles veggies soup and the protein. We had food leftover for day! The show was also so entertaining!!! Our guy was a lot of fun and super energetic. Ordered take out as usual and it was fresh and flavorful as always. If you haven't tried the meal fired rice with shrimp, scallops, steak and chicken you really need to. Make sure you get the sauces like you get when you get the hibachi - Ginger and Yum Yum sauces. When I called in my order the girl was very cordial and when I picked up the meal they were even nicer. After our favorite sushi restaurant closed, we have had a difficult time finding a new favorite. We ordered three rolls and I forgot to take a picture of any of them. One had lobster in it and the other had fried shrimp. The one I remember the name for was the Mexican roll. The nice thing about the sushi is that the yum yum sauce is right there on the table. While only being able to sit outside and eat out of takeout containers, we enjoyed our dinner. The staff was friendly and took great care of us. A lot of the pre-covid pictures show beautiful displays when they bring the food, so we missed out on that by using plastic containers. I started with a miso soup and then ordered the Ocala Roll and Kiss Roll (I believe). I enjoyed it all and probably could have had some more. My copilot had the Mike's Roll and he enjoyed his as well. It was very windy and everything given to us was individually wrapped, which made it tough to not let anything blow away. These covid restrictions are changing everything for restaurants so we can't blame it on them. Overall, slightly above average and would like to try it again when we can eat inside. read more

Our favorite place to get sushi so far in Ocala. It was very busy even on a non-Friday weeknight. The interior is clean with lots of booth seating. Our waitress came by pretty quickly to take our order and actually came by multiple times that night to make sure we had everything we needed. We ordered the NY, futomaki, yellowtail, and KG roll. Our favorite was the NY roll, really tasty and had a great filling to rice ratio. We also got the tamago, yellowtail, and salmon nigiri - all were good. My husband really liked the salmon nigiri. In our continuing search for outside dining especially during this gorgeous weather, we went to Tony's Sushi for lunch. They are only serving outside, tables spaced well and everything is in to go containers, no plates, no glass, no metal utensils ...no bottles of soy sauce.... loved it! They have even blocked off the parking spots next to where the tables are so you don't have a car next to you, no exhaust smell and blaring music! Service was good and attentive, I wish our server wore her mask like every one else, instead of having it as a chin sling! Since we were outside, I guess it is ok but inside not acceptable in our book. Menu is limited, at least at lunch, no bento boxes, no sushi/sashimi combos. We ordered a spider roll to split, delicious as usual, and he had salmon teriyaki and I had scallops. Mine came with rice and a mixture of broccoli, mushrooms and carrots in the sauce. Use to work in the area and come here often. Unfortunately this past two months I have been here for a family emergency. I came here many days to pick up food on the way back to the place I was staying due to being exhausted and not wanting to cook. The sushi rolls are still delicious. I made the mistake of ordering pick up on a Friday evening. There is absolutely no parking and had I not been so hungry and had already ordered, I would have left. I called to tell them there are zero parking spots in the complete plaza to come pick up my food. They did not have a solution other than to find a curb and run in quickly so I don't block someone trying to back out. There was what appeared to be a manager that ran her head off every time I went. Appears she doesn't delegate or have anyone she wants to trust to delegate to. She is the definition of chaos as she literally has panic on her face walking quickly in all different directions. I felt bad for her that she doesn't know how to let go of control and delegate. I miss seeing Tony here. He was the owner, however had passed away a few years back. I need to find a picture of my sushi from take out. I would get the same each day. Volcano roll with conch on top and the Goddess roll I think it was called. I've lived here for over 10 years, everyone is always talking about how much they love Tony's sushi. I'm not sure why. My son and I stopped in last night on our way home from out of town. We sat quickly (table, not hibachi). Our waitress came to the table quickly to take our order. I asked for an Asahi Dry. She didn't know what that was, had never heard of it, so I checked the menu to see if it was on there and it was. She came back to let me know they were out of stock so I ordered something else. My son and I split a veggie tempura order of Japanese bagel roll, order of eel roll, and an extra soup. Our soups came out warm-ish. We let our waitress know and she brought them back out, my son says his was hit but mine was only a little warmer. The tempura was different, I appreciated having eggplant and what I think was butternut squash. No mushrooms was a disappointment. Our tempura came out without tempura sauce and we had to request it. When it came out, I think it was homemade, but I didn't care for it. The sushi was delicious. The bill came and I questioned why we were charged for fried rice when we had ordered the tempura dinner. The waitress said "we up charge for rice here, we up charge for everything here." Thing is, she asked my son if he wanted fried rice and didn't tell him there was an up charge. I certainly didn't appreciate that, but at least there wasn't an up charge for the tempura sauce. Back when Ocala limited options for sushi or hibachi, I can see people loving this place - but Ocala has much better options these days in my humble opinion. read more

We have been looking for sushi restaurant to try and the reviews were promising. Tony's is a sushi and hibachi restaurant. Noted. We walked in and straight away there was an employee arguing with another near the hostess station. Not a very good first impression l. We were promptly seated the greeted by our waitress, "Bri". She was very friendly and attentive. We order our drinks and appetizers, fried dumplings and a miso soup. Both came out quickly by one of the staff. The Miso soup was warm and the ingredients were also undercooked. We sent it back and got another that was just right. We order our rolls, a 1volcano roll, 2 Ocala Rolls, and a Rainbow roll. The topping of the Volcano rolls was made of conch and was chewy. The Ocala roll was ok not much flavor and the Rainbow roll also lacked flavor. Overall it was not the worst we've had but not the best either. I would go back to try the hibachi, maybe. Otherwise, our search continues. TTFN. read more

We had dinner here February 3 and it was great! Leo was our chef and he did an excellent job showing his significant skills on the grill. Our food was perfectly cooked. Our server was Misty who took very good care of us. She was very prompt in taking our order and bringing our drinks and appetizers. We highly recommend this restaurant.
