We decided to stop for a quick light lunch and Sushi is our go to. So we checked our yelp ratings and off we went.. Atmosphere was quiet but our booths were duck taped together because of rips. So this was definitely more about finding a quality restaurant than atmosphere. Service was sporadic as we were only two couples in entire restaurant but almost felt than we were an inconvenience if we needed our water refilled. Food was decent, sushi was adequate and so was the bento box my wife had. Nothing stood out. I would probably give it a 2.5 stars so I'm rounding up like my math teacher taught me. read more

While visiting family from out of town, I chose to order pick up from here. The Philadelphia roll was good. The yaki soba was not good at all.. lacked flavor completely no sweet, savory, and tangy flavor, no sauce. That was so unfortunate because the noodles and vegetables were cooked perfectly. The yummy roll was hard to get through 3 pieces which was all I ate. It was bland, no dimension, extremely fishy. The inside of the establishment did look like quite a vibe and was clean. The service at the front desk picking up was quick and pleasant and the gentleman at the front was such a pleasure to talk to, made me want to dine in when I was picking up. Always enjoy visiting Tokyo Sushi for rolls. The sushi rolls are very large so there's no reason to over order. I've ordered takeout as well as dined in and both experiences have the same quality food and similar wait times. We've never had to wait for a table and the order comes out fast so it's a great place if you're limited to a 1 hour lunch break. The restaurant is always clean and staff are always helpful and thorough. On my visit today, we ordered spicy tuna, spicy crab (lunch special comes with soup and salad), volcano (great roll) and crazy dragon (the current special). Excellent!! Walked in on Mother's Day around 5PM. Not busy. Nice and inviting environment. Classy and perfectly air-conditioned. We're from Alaska with a high Asian population and many such restaurants in urban areas. So kinda spoiled on good variety of Asian foods and excellent sushi houses. We're also used to very fresh fish. This place was all of that and more. Service was ideal. Timing was spot on. The menu was incredibly well organized with every option for sushi style and hibachi plus many others. The menu stays true to Japanese cuisine vs. being a cultually-mixed cuisine like some places do. The portions were way more generous than expected and came with soup and salad starters. This is a gem of a sushi and hibachi house. Started getting hangry on my way home from Lakeland to Jax, so stopped here for a late lunch. Very friendly staff. Sushi bar, half dozen 4 top booths in back and tables and bar up front. Did their 3 roll lunch, came with soup and salad. Miso was good. Ginger dressing good otherwise pretty much ok lettuce. Had a yellow tail roll - fish fresh and tasty. Shrimp Mangp roll - a tad dry and mango not fully ripe. Eel and avocado - very good. All that for $17 and they were decent size albeit pretty basic rolls. read more

I went for lunch today at Tokyo Sushi. I went because of someone's review on Yelp. That person said they were from New York and they had tried several sushi places in Ocala. They liked Tokyo Sushi the best. To me it was not the best. It was very disappointing. Our waitress disappeared after she took our orders. We asked a man where our waitress went and he said to pick up her kids. The man waited on us only because we were complaining where is our food? The Yummy roll was anything but yummy. Thick on the rice and thick on the crunch/panko part. They used artificial crab and a minuscule piece of shrimp for the Shrimp tempura part. Heavy coating of the tempura. The other roll was a spicy tuna roll which was not spicy. We asked for albacore sashimi and they brought us white fish. They should have said we don't have albacore. We were hunting around Ocala looking for an all you can eat sushi spot (not a buffet style with sushi on it.) There is an amazing one in Washington state (where we moved from) and we miss it terribly. We've only located one decent one in Orlando but it's a bit of a drive unless we have another reason to go out there. We called around to several sushi restaurants in Ocala and many still were only offering take out. Finally we called Tokyo House and discovered their dining room was open. We've visited twice and were impressed both visits. The sushi was fresh tasting and service was stellar. Our second visit was for lunch and there were some lunch specials that we opted for as part of our order in addition to some special rolls. We wish you offered an all you can eat option but we will visit again if we must stay in Ocala. read more

Since moving from the New York City area I found it very difficult to get good sushi in this area. But, I have to say, after trying several different sushi restaurants in the Ocala area, Tokyo Sushi happens to be by far the best. I asked if it was made fresh and she would not answer me. We used to eat here weekly after several year but due to a similar experience a years ago we didn't return til today. Basics on attitude and horrible food won't return. Then let's talk about the curtains into the itching that a satined and just nasty. Guess that should have been on of the first clues. So if you have a shellfish allergy or not be warned, I didn't tell them I had a allergy because I didn't think they would do that cause normally that's not the case. But after calling they refused to remake the roll even if I brought it there because "they would be losing money". Which is most likely $1 worth of rice, seaweed, and salmon which costed me about $12, they saved their $1 today but are gonna be losing the $100s worth of money I've given them each month I've been eating there til now. read more
