Warning: don't trust these 5 star reviews! They had me wondering if we even went to the same place. Asian Pop is a disaster. Like others, we were just passing thru Ocala and relied on Yelp reviews. If you really read their reviews, something is suspicious. I do agree with the failed health inspection on Jan 6, 2026. First, we were the only people for lunch at noon on a Wednesday. Although, there was evidence of other people having been there (dirty dishes in 3 of the booths - never cleared off the entire time we were there) A girl about 12 years old brought us water and spilled it on the table. The water tasted weird. We had to stand up and ask for someone to take food order. Odd since we were the only customers. We ordered chicken bento boxes and shrimp tempura. Up charged for "fried rice" - something about the rice was extremely off. It was like... chewy, mushy, and flavorless. Like it was bad sushi rice with soy sauce, carrots and corn. Not fried. The chicken pieces were about 2 inch strips or cubes...? the only utensil provided was a fork and chopsticks like, how am I supposed to eat this? I wish I hadn't. Texture was like saucy rubber. Truly, disgusting. Shrimp tempura came out as shrimp teriyaki but my mom ate it anyway. I thought it was weird they left the tails on saucy shrimp. Had to use hands to eat and our napkins had been used to sop up the water spill. They never brought more. My intuition said leave as soon as I walked in but I didn't want to be difficult for my small party. I should have trusted my gut and am paying for it 12 hrs later. read more

Alone, as a customer, at 4PM, sat and beverage ordered almost immediately. My dinner, salad with ginger dressing, miso soup, bento box teriyaki snapper with spring rolls, gyoza, California roll and white rice was delicious but , for me, way too much food! I visited this location October 21st 2025. The inside is old but is clean. I ordered a 3 roll special and the taste was very average and not flavorful. The rolls are cut in 6 pieces and stuffed with bland fish and is impossible to chew in one bite. I had to tear apart the pieces of sushi due to the 6 piece cut. The rolls fell apart very quickly leading me to believe If they were bite sized the might fall apart in between the plate and my mouth. Staff were friendly and service speed was good. Due to the poor quality food and the over sized cuts I won't return and connect recommend this restaurant. read more

Gave two stars because the food is cheap and decent but the service is absolutely terrible. We ordered our food as the only table in the restaurant and then another table came in and ordered after us and received their food before us. The server never came to check on us at all and I had to stand up to ask for a box and check. When I told the man at the front about how our server hasn't been out in 20 minutes he just laughed. We really wanted to like Asian Pop but our visit did not allow us to unfortunately. I love supporting family-run restaurants but this one fell short. A child sat us at our table which we thought was very cute. The booths were beat up as well as the walls and ceiling. It took a server 5-10 minutes to greet us and take our drink orders. There were several things on the menu that sounded good though so we were still optimistic. I got a chicken bento box, my wife got some sushi and our daughter had lo mein. The sushi honestly wasnt good, my bento box was just ok (on par with a substandard chinese buffet), and my 6 y/o wouldnt eat her lo mein (she usually like lo mein). You can't beat the lunch specials here! 2 rolls for $10 (with soup and salad) or 3 for $13. They stuff the rolls with the perfect fish to rice ratio and have a large variety to choose from. The icing on the cake is that the rolls are delicious, full of flavor and plenty of filling. I ordered the steamed gyoza and when they came out they did not look cooked and they were too hard to eat, the pork fried rice I ordered had corn which is totally weird and doesn't look great. We loved visiting Asian Pop. Key word here is in the past tense. For the most part their food is pretty consistent visit to visit. We love their fried rice and Hibachi and sushi lunch specials. There have been a couple menu items that didn't meet expectations and wouldn't recommend ordering. One was a sashimi bowl that just didn't have much flavor. The second, was their jalapeño popper appetizer. We generally don't have an issue with jalapeños at all but my girlfriend each took a bite at the same time and realized quickly that the seeds were still in the jalapeños and the dish was inedible. Like... so hot that I thought my soup I just ate may just come back up. We sent it back after the one bite each, and they kind of laughed. They also still put it on our bill which I feel was totally inappropriate. Usually you strive to fix any issues but no attempt was made. We kept driving by this place from all our Walmart trips while moving in. The pictures and reviews looked good and so I had made a mental note to check it out sometime. Coincidentally, it was towards the end of the month and I needed to use up my Ubereats credit from Amex. Perfect excuse to order take out! It was very easy to order from them through the Ubereats app. We got the yellowtail jalapeño and a spicy salmon roll. It was ready very quickly. We loved the yellowtail dish, it came with 6 pieces of thickly sliced yellowtail, a nice sauce, jalapeno and some fish roe. The spicy salmon roll was also very good, lots of filling inside and not too spicy.
