I absolutely love this place. Second time I've eaten there. The seafood was fresh and cooked perfectly. Of course, the decor is awesome. Our server was helpful and friendly. The food came out fast (it was lunchtime busy) it was nice and hot. The sandwich roll fresh. Even the tartar sauce was cold and fresh not something sitting around like other restaurants. Highly recommend this place and I drove 2 hours to get there. Told my friend who traveled with me, if we did nothing else that day we had to eat lunch at Stumpknockers. She was also impressed. We had a large group of 11 with 6 kids. Our server was incredible! She engaged the kids so well and spoke directly to them and really made it so easy for us to order. She handled every single thing with ease, i wish i remembered her name, i do remember she came from a big family! All the food came out as ordered. I have lived in Florida since 2016 and my major disappointment with Florida has always been with the restaurants and the food available at them. Last night we went to the Inverness Stumpknockers On the Square and I am overwhelmed by every single aspect of this establishment including the food, the staff and the service including the consideration of every employee that even saw my party of four. Starting out with Ryan who I spoke to on the phone asking him if he could accommodate a walker for me since I am handicapped. He assured me that I could be able to be accommodated completely. He told me that Shawn would be at the door when we arrived. Shawn was a very helpful and kind person as well and had a special table saved for us and the staff immediately took my walker and were the nicest people I have ever had in a restaurant before. The portions and the food were no disappointment at all. It was all delicious food and the server was the most attentive and friendly person. I have looked on our receipt but it does not have her name on it. I just called and found her name was Avis! I thanked her profusely for her attentiveness. I am now a regular customer for this wonderful eclectic restaurant in Inverness! read more

Melanie was EXCELLANT!!! Cute as a button and loved her accent. We were told to try the prime rib because it was delicious. Tilapia with sides of baked potato and side salad. The tilapia was dry and not real warm and veggies weren't great. The side salad was large and pretty good. The butter for potatoes came in hard packaged blocks that took forever to melt on the just warm potato. The ayce catfish was good #1 that ordered prime rib said it was very good. #2 that ordered prime rib said it was flavorless and she had had better but honestly she is VERY hard to please. The fried mushrooms as an appetizer was EXCEPTIONAL. The mozarell sticks were just ok nothing special. The parking here is not good at all and of course the one Friday night we decided to go there was a car show and we had to park far away from the place. It's downtown parking with no private lot. Just an okay option for seafood in Inverness. The peel and eat shrimp, scallops and even veggies that come with meals are obviously from frozen, not fresh. Hushpuppies came out lukewarm and soaked in oil to the point they weren't enjoyable. If you value quality seafood, this isn't the place for you. The french fries and ranch were great. Service has always been very quick and friendly. Stumpknockers is a unique Florida local restaurant that serves fresh food daily. When you enter, a smile greets you and continues with the servers who are very friendly and caring. I've been here a few times and always had a decent experience but today you can tell the owner doesn't put in the time to ensure quality and cleanliness. He or she must be on cruise control just taking peoples money as it's gone down hill since my last visit. First the food. I had the blackened grouper entree. The fish was old and not fresh. Plus it was undercooked. It seemed like it was pre-made and served warmed over. The French fry's oozed grease when pinched which to me was an indication they have old oil in the fryer and it needs changed. The mixed vegetables were also old, discolored and over seasoned. Very salty. My guess is these were sitting in a pot on warm. Hush puppies were dry, hard and cold. This was a far cry from what I expected. The ambiance is fine and nothing special but the whole restaurant needs cleaned badly. Pictures on the walls need wiped down and had running drippings and fingerprints on the front glass. Front windows and doors are all greasy with fingerprints. Cob webs and dustballs hanging from lights and ceiling. All the lightbulbs have thick dust on them. This place hasn't been properly cleaned in a very long time. Thank goodness I didn't have an opportunity to walk behind the bar or into the kitchen or I probably would have walked out. No problem with the service but this is unfortunate for the staff as they would make more money if the owner stepped up and improved things. They've lost my business but plenty of people still go there for some reason. Probably because of the limited offerings in town. Owner seems to be taking advantage of this fact and needs to do better. read more

This place is right in downtown Inverness. There is a sports bar next door. We walked in and it wasn't very busy. But we were hungry. We noticed a smell from either old beer or nasty carpet. This needs addressing. But we were greeted by a friendly host and sat down. I was a little worried about food but noticed the house specialty was catfish. We ordered and our waitress took a while to bring out our drinks. The food arrived and the catfish was good. Potato was ok. Hush puppies were bland and dry. This was the end of our waitress. She never came back at all . The guy host got us drinks and Togo containers. Then he got our bill and we never saw the waitress again. We paid him and left. Husband and I drove to Stumpknockers on the Square, they have another location not too far away near the water, dining outside as well. This restaurant is such a cool place to go to, really get that Florida vibe and atmosphere. Decorated with lots of interesting things to look at on the walls and take in. They have specials every night, including the weekend, think Fried chicken!! They have covered outside dining along the building too. Cheerful young man welcome's you upon entering, this is a big place , lots of seating with different sections and a really nice bar where you can eat as well. Nice menu with great appetizers, sandwiches, salads, good choices in the entree's, plus the nightly specials and wonderful desserts. Went on Friday and they were getting busy but we got seated right away. Our waitress was cheerful and right on the money taking great care of us the whole time we were there. Husband had the large cut Prime Rib which you only can get on Friday, clam chowder soup, baked potato and corn on the cob. That was a man size hunk of meat and he ate the whole thing and didn't come up for air, no time for conversation let's just say. He really enjoyed his dinner. I had the beer battered fish and chips with coleslaw and seasoned fries, a huge plate of great tasting, cooked perfectly fish, I really enjoyed my dinner. Too full for dessert, think Key lime pie, coconut cream pie, cheese cake and much more. We had a great dinner and we got our bill paid in a timely fashion. We came up to explore Inverness and decided on Stumpknockers because I wanted to look at the quirky inside. Service was good, but food not so good. The Stumpknockers beer was bad. The fish seemed borderline undercooked, couldn't be sure it had so much "blackened" on it. The sides (coleslaw and potato salad) were the worst I ever tasted. For dinner, we ordered the seabass special (broiled), and it was moist and so full of flavor. We also ordered the Mahi Mahi dinner, and the flavor was really good. Sometimes it's the staff that counts. Had heard about the restaurant (the name alone is an attraction). Stopped by and a large party (24+} was inside seated and ordering. I asked if the kitchen was efficient and was concerned it was going to take 45 minutes to an hour for our order to come out. The waitress said "not if you get your order in ahead of them ". So we ordered immediately and the food came out quickly. At the waitress suggestion I had a Florida Black Grouper Rueben and my buddy had their Turkey Dinner. Both were very good a 4 star meal but the service our waitress gave pushed it to 5. And as soon as I remember her name (having a senior moment) I'll update the post.
