Came here with a long-time friend for a fine dining experience, and they certainly did not disappoint! Even without a reservation, the hostess seated us within five minutes, which was a fantastic start. To help us beat the Florida heat, they thoughtfully brought us iced water right away without us even asking. We started with the cocktails: I ordered the 'Firefly' and my friend got the 'I'm Trini & I know it'--both were wonderfully light and refreshing. For appetizers, we went with the Foie Gras (GF) and the Scallops. Both were exceptionally succulent, delicious, and plated with the fine-dining presentation they deserved. Since our first round went so well, we ordered a second. My friend loved the Firefly so much they got another, while I tried the 'Meet me in Maui,' which I thoroughly enjoyed. The second Firefly wasn't quite as spot-on as the first--perhaps a shift change behind the bar--but we still enjoyed them all. With our second drinks, we ordered the main course: lamb chops with a side of vegetables, cooked medium-rare. We planned to share the meal and specifically asked for the mushrooms on the side since they weren't gluten-free. Unfortunately, when the dish arrived, the mushrooms were placed right on top of the vegetables beneath the lamb. The server was extremely apologetic when we pointed it out (likely a simple miscommunication given that we were sharing), so we just picked them off and placed them on my plate. A quick note on the lamb: we ordered medium-rare, but next time I'll probably go for medium-well, as it was a bit too tender for our preference--though still remarkably tasty. Surprisingly, the vegetables ended up being the unexpected star of the plate! Lastly we ordered desserts, They got the Creme Brulee (GF) and I got the Chocolate Hazelnut Cake of which I tried both, and they were exquisite. I wish I had a larger portion. Especially of the hazelnut cake with shavings of coconut on it. It came out looking like a piece of art when placed on the table. Despite the minor hiccup with the mushrooms, the service was wonderfully prompt, and the overall experience was fantastic. The ambiance is seductive, attractive, and features a gorgeous artistic mural--making it an ideal spot for a sophisticated adult night out. (They also have a private space across the street for larger parties and events.) We were both completely satisfied and will definitely be returning, either together or separately, to try more of their incredible menu. Highly recommended!" This is an incredible restaurant and about as fine dining as you will find in the surrounding area. Down to visit family and brought them here for dinner, they did not disappoint. Halibut was my entree. The parsnip purée is a perfect pairing with this perfectly prepared fish. The short ribs and pork tenderloin also superb. The wedge salad was ordered as an entree and was huge. The diner in my party could not finish it because of the size. The blue cheese dressing was mild and just the right amount. Beautiful interior, nicely appointed with top notch lighting fixtures. I have read reviews that the portions are small but I disagree. This is not a chain restaurant, or a cookie cutter menu. You get what you pay for. A+! read more

We absoluted loved the mushroom risotto and will be wishing we lived close enough to return often just for that dish. The pork tenderloin and scallops were excellent also. Absolutely the most outstanding dining experience I've had in Citrus County (Crystal River area) Florida, EVER. My parents bought property on the waterfront in Crystal River circa 1988, and I've been a frequent visitor until I relocated here full time in 2022. So I'm writing from the perspective of both tourist/visitor and resident. For tourists: Worth the drive from Crystal River to Lecanto. For residents: Worth taking a break from all of your "usual favorites." I'd call Katch-22 a "special occasion" dining experience that falls into the "expensive but 100% worth it" category. If I was loaded with cash, I'd come here on at least a weekly basis. Highlights? There are so many.... I was told that the establishment was newly renovated, and can verify that the "new" ambience is outstanding. Features intimate, low key, soft lighting throughout the restaurant at the dinner hour; great IMO for a special date/anniversary. I can echo other Yelp reviews I relied on, that the cocktail offerings are absolutely top notch. I'm no stranger to the Cosmopolitan (big fan of "Sex and the City), and the one I was served at Katch-22 was the best I've had (thus far) in this lifetime (I'm in my 50s). The wine list is well-thought-out to pair nicely with the menu, and the bartender was exceptionally well-informed to make suggestions. Other reviewers recommended the Espresso Martini as a dessert option, which I chose, and it was exceptionally well made. The food? WOW. I relocated to the Crystal River area from previously living Portland, Oregon and Boca Raton, Florida--both of which are nationally known "foodie" locales. I did not think I could ever find an equal to those metropolitan offerings in rural Florida (no offense intended to locals). The Katch-22 menu is creative and outstanding, with a unique spin on classic dishes. Katch-22 would rank in my lifetime Top 5 of *best food ever* establishments. I was texting photos of the dishes, as they came out, to my "Boca Princess" food snob friends, I was that impressed. After hearing about the special "light menu" starter items from my outstanding bartender/server--since I was dining alone and didn't want to take up a table at dinner hour--I ordered a bowl of "soup of the moment" lobster bisque, and a beet salad. That was all I intended to eat that evening. Is there such a thing as a "food-gasm" (ask Meg Ryan from "Sleepless in Seattle")?!? Best beet salad, EVER, served on a whipped goat cheese mousse. Because the "starters" were not enough to satisfy me that evening, I ordered the seared scallops with tomato risotto from the main menu. Wasn't sure how that would work out, because I was thinking that the acidity of the fresh tomatoes would be tough to integrate into a creamy risotto. Not something I would attempt as a home cook. Chef (and kitchen) pulled it off. I almost have no words. Beautiful presentation, and impeccably prepared in every imaginable way...I was closing my eyes to try to taste the "why" as to how these were the BEST seared scallops I'd ever tasted. Seriously. Definitely not a standard hot browned butter/oil & garlic prep. There's some magic in there that I can't explain, so just order it and enjoy! We had one of the best meals we've ever experienced at Katch 22. Every single dish was a knockout--from start to finish. The Chilean sea bass was melt-in-your-mouth perfect, the tomahawk steak came out sizzling and cooked to perfection, and the Thai shrimp had just the right amount of kick and flavor. And let's talk about that Caesar salad--hands down the best I've ever had (seriously, I'd come back just for that). The service was attentive without being overbearing, and the ambiance was warm and welcoming. From the outside this looks like a simple business. Its not adorned in any fancy way amd is very unassuming. BUT once you step inside you're in another world. Very eclectic mural on the wall. Tastefully seating. The service was over-the-top! And our meal was beyond delicious. The prices are upscale but Im willing to pay for a nice meal as long as Im not disappointed and we were not disappointed in any way. I had Chilean sea bass (which was a holiday special) and my husband got the Short Ribs. Im a bit of a fish snob and hate getting a mediocre fish dish but holy cow this was good! Not overcooked. Prepared simply but perfectly seasoned and fresh. 5. My husband's Short Ribs were fall off the bone tender and juicy. He wanted to lick the plate but of course I wouldnt let him! After an hour wait for our food it was apparent that the food sat in the window too long and was not to temp when it arrived. this may have attributed to my daughters ribeye being over cooked and cool. my risotto was barley warm enough and my grandsons chicken was also cooler than should be. maybe the staff was overloaded and couldn't keep up but in a place like this there is no excuse. Such a cool space with fun decor and ambiance! The inside reminds me of something that would be in Tampa or Miami. The food was delicious. We enjoyed the creative twists of adding Latin flavors and inspiration- like the delicious crudo. We ordered the steak rare and it came out completely on point. Definitely worth the visit! read more

Every thing I tried from the menu reminded me of fine dining in nyc, Europe etc. But with Florida sensibility of the local fresh food and produce. My only regret after an appetizer and main I did not have room for dessert. I encourage everyone to try Katch. First time here. Decided to go to a nice place for my birthday. Jim is out of town so doing it solo. Server and staff all pleasant. Focaccia bread is served first. Quite good. I ordered the roasted beet stack for a starter. Love my beets! Having the Chilean sea bass for the main course. OMG it was awesome! I ate the whole serving. Thank goodness I didn't eat all of the bread and starter so I had room. I'll be taking those home to munch on later. Now for dessert: homemade key lime pie. Yum yummy.
