We went to Kim's for breakfast when my brother came to visit and said he was starving. Kim's Cafe is still in the same strip plaza since we moved here in 2005 and maybe longer. Outside remains the same with limited seating but we prefer eating inside. Even though it was busy we found a table right away. Our waitress came over and took our drink orders and left us to look over their menu per our request. The guys were very interested in one of their breakfast specials and ended up ordering it. Called a Tot Bowl the dish had tater tots, sausage, bacon,tomatoes, mushrooms, peppers and onion and American Cheese with Sausage Gravy and two eggs. Two pieces of toast of your choice is included - both chose Rye toast which they loved. Only difference between the two plates were how their eggs were cooked. My Hubby loves over easy eggs while my brother prefers scrambled. They both stated that they loved their breakfast with my brother commenting next time he visits he would love to go to Kim's again. I of course chose something different. I had a bowl of their Stone Ground Grits with two scrambled eggs and ham on rye toast. Both the grits and the breakfast sandwich were delicious and filled me up. The guys are hoping next time we go the Tot Bowl special will be available. Got the skillet it was absolutely atrocious. The eggs were probably the only thing that turned out decent the green peppers I believe were either rotten or extremely old as they tasted very very weird. The bacon was overcooked. The gravy may have come from a can. I am unaware as I was not in the kitchen cooking, but it was just not a good meal at all. I'm sorry I spent the money to build my own skillet for disappointment. read more

A couple of breakfasts places close to where we were staying. Decided to try this one first. Seat yourself. Large menu with specials on the wall. I landed on the northern skillet. It had sausage, crispy bacon, cheese hash browns and veggies. Northern skillet was great. Fresh veggies still had a crunch and enough hash browns to know they were there but not overpower everything else. Deb had the country fried steak. Very good too. The gravy was very good. Service is always friendly and helpful. The food is cooked to order. Prices are very reasonable. Breakfast is great I had the tot bowl which was delicious. My mom and I saw this place while headed toward the T-Mobile store next door. We did a quick check on Yelp and decided to try it. It it indeed worthy of its high marks. The staff is friendly, the food is delicious, and best of all, it's incredibly affordable. I don't know of any other place where you can get 2 eggs, bacon, home fries and toast for $6.50. When in dought ask the locals. We asked two of them a recommendation for a breakfast place. This place was it for them. It's a favorite with the locals defenetly. This is a restaurant were they know each other here. That's actually a big complement to the place that they keep coming. The menu is big. I had scrambled eggs, copped meat with onions, homefryes and a biscuits. All that was under ten dollars. It was a good portion too. The breakfast was great. That was one of the best chopped meat I think I had. It had a lot of flavor and it was moist. I liked that it was nicely seasoned, good taste. The biscuit was my second favorite. They put it in the grill to give it an extra goodness to it. The home fries were really good too. The food was exelent. The staff was friendly. They sanitized the table after each use and put a paper on the table to display that it was sanitized. They have a list of dessert on the wall and there special. I've eaten here before it was decent. I thought oh breakfast will be better from here than McDonald's or Hardee's WRONG! Ordered breakfast for pick up. Biscuits gravy and eggs for both of us. Gravy was sour, biscuits were doughy and very under under cooked it was horrible and NASTY! It truly was revolting!! And when I tried to call to complain no one answered their phone after 20 rings. Along with the home style cooking, Kim's has the most hard working, friendly and efficient staff around. "Wacky Wednesdays" are always incredible. This particular Wednesday was western day and you just have to see the western costume photo on this review.The sheer effort Kim's waitresses put forth to create a fun and interesting atmosphere is something to be appreciated. No matter how busy or hectic their service never falters nor does the food! Now for the food. The specials of the day breakfast board had Grouper Florentine with "Hell Sauce" & 2eggs $12.95, Kielbasa Skillet with eggs $8.95 and Catfish "your way" with 2 eggs for $10.95. That's just a sample. The lunch specials included Chicken and dumplings with soup or salad $9.50; Western Pork Chop with two sides plus soup or salad for $9.25 and Grouper Fingers with fries and slaw $11.95. That should give you an idea of what this hometown, home style restaurant with fantastic staff and the cleanest kitchen around can do. Kudos to owner Kim. Small local diner style restaurant. We ate dinner there, but note, they are only open one night a week. If back in the area, I would try again, but for breakfast. We shared fried green tomatoes and onion rings as starters. For dinners, our group had burgers, fried fish and lemon pepper grouper. I had the grouper and felt the seasoning was too strong and overpowering. The seafood chowder was delicious. The prices are very reasonable, but the food was very fair. Friday night fish fry... I returned to Kim's because this is one of my father-in-law's favorite restaurants. We came here on the all you can eat Friday fish fry dinner night. The place was packed! The fish was good. It was Alaskan pollock, so it was nothing gourmet. But it was fried nice and crispy and came with fries and slaw. The slaw was really good. The fries were okay. They were a bit too greasy for my liking. Our service was fine this time around. The waitresses are on the sassy side, especially if you are one of the regulars. This could probably be off-putting to some. I didn't mind it. It provided some entertainment with my meal. I would come back here. The fish was really good. Next time, I would bring a bigger appetite. I couldn't make it through more than one plate! read more

Good bang for your buck, nice portions, good food. Gross dessert, honestly!!! Tasted like it had been in the refrigerator unwrapped and got the flavor of everything else in the refrigerator. the seafood fritter? awesome. french dip? awesome. atmosphere? awesome. but whats the best "awesome" about this place...was the price :P so we went to Homosassa, FL after a few days in Orlando visiting 4 Disney World parks, Sea World, etc. my dad REALLY wanted to see manatees so we came to this small town before we parted with Florida. now, i come from LA, where its always busy and bustling even in the outskirts of the city. also we JUST got away form Orlando where parents and their annoying (just kidding) kids ran around at Disney World. the city was small, mostly older generations of people and very, VERY friendly!! anywho, we were starving one afternoon while we were there (we stayed roughly 3 days), and i was yelp searching a whole bunch of places in the city. no luck!! D: we went to Chinese restaurants, (both REALLY good), Peking Garden was delicious btw. ok...back to this nice place. so with no luck finding reviews around the area we just decided to hop into a restaurant, which, was this place. we walked in, were greeted friendly over the bustling business! the place was PACKED at 2PM! we sat down, and my family of 4 ordered. all were good, i really liked the seafood fritter btw. they have a separate menu on the whiteboard near the counter. but what really surprised me...was for a 4 person meal + coffee for each of us, the end price was 19 dollars. yeah. what?? in LA 19 dollar meal may or may not cover 3 person meal! my french dip was the most expensive of my family, which was just 5 bucks. oh man. if i ever go to Homosassa again i'll have to check in here again. tucked into a business area, was a pleasant surprise :) delicious and wallets were happy too lol read more

Driving back to Texas from Sarasota and the wife and I decided to stop for an early lunch. We were early enough to still grab a breakfast before they stopped serving for the day (11:30). I got the Northern Skillett, the wife got the Southern Lovers Plate. Both were excellent and cheap with more than we could eat. I felt like I was in a small town Texas diner. Thank goodness this is not close to my home or work or I'd eat there everyday and gain 100 pounds. We'll definitely stop again next time we drive through. I am now stuffed and won't need to eat until we stop for the night in Biloxi. read more
