Sugarmill Restaurant is located at 5446 S Suncoast Blvd. It's been there for years in a strip store plaza on the end near the street. It's a family operated restaurant known for their homestyle food offerings especially breakfast(which is offered all day) at affordable prices. We went around noon so everyone in our party of eight could order from breakfast and lunch menus. The inside has both table and booth options - with our large group we called ahead and asked for a table seating eight which accommodated our needs nicely. Staff was super friendly and efficient. We were seated promptly, given menus and asked about our drink choices. Our group had a variety of dishes from both the breakfast menu and lunch menu. Food portions were good - even the kid's plates. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food and ate well. Both of my grandsons ordered off the kid's menu. One had a cheeseburger with fries, the other had scrambled eggs with pancakes. They loved their meals. My husband had country fried steak with gravy, two eggs over easy, a grilled biscuit and extra crispy home fries which he devoured. My son had two biscuits with gravy and two eggs over medium - he wiped his plate clean. My granddaughter and soon to be son in law had steak (one ordered well done and the other one ordered medium rare) both were perfectly cooked to their liking and served with mashed potatoes and gravy - they ate it all. Her Mom had a club sandwich with fries that filled up her whole plate. She was very happy with her choice - said the sandwich was excellent. I chose a cup of their homemade chicken noodle soup which was very tasty. Large chunks of chicken and veggies in a homemade broth with noodles that were cooked properly. And then for my entree - I decided on crabcakes and my choice of one side was their potato salad. The only slightly disappointing meal out of the bunch. I thought that a Mom and Pop Greek restaurant would offer homemade crabcakes but these were store bought. Flavor was okay but not what I had in mind. Always ask if it's homemade first - lessoned learned! Their homemade potato salad was okay - a little bland so I added salt. They serve a large number of elderly customers so they're probably salt conscience for everyone's well being. Next time I will choose a different meal but seven out of eight people very happy is very good indeed! I cannot wait to go back again and maybe try their breakfast selections this time. Our "regular" local breakfast spot was too crowded, so we tried this place instead. We're a little mad at ourselves for not trying it sooner! Went here this morning for the first time. Ordered an egg scrambled soft and OMG it came that way. I think this is probably the 3rd time in many many years that it came out right. That alone deserves 5 s. The staff are very attentive and the owner is a real sweetheart. She was actually there with her family having breakfast but was also helping out as it was prime time for breakfast. She is also a fellow Greek and her husband was doing the cooking. Service from Lou Ann, our waitress, was excellent. She was friendly, professional and very accommodating. Well I rate it this restaurant a few years ago, used to go there all the time, and the last time I went up two weeks ago, they were closed. Then I went up a week ago and they were still closed. So they either need to change their website, so people don't drive and find out that they're not open anymore. They're definitely not open from 6:00 to 8:00,, and they're not open from 2:00 to 4:00.. unless they're doing a midnight buffet I think they're closed. God bless Florida. read more

Small hometown feel. Us city folks are used to dining at major chains and barely venture in to whole in the walls so to speak. This place is a gem , serving comfort style food at affordable prices. Good was good and this will be our go to place when staying at a RV park close by. read more

We just moved to Homosassa the day before and this was our first experience eating out in this area. We found a nice, clean friendly staff at Sugarmill, and the food was wonderful. Our waitress told us that they make their own biscuits every morning, and they were so light and fluffy, they were like clouds! The gravy that came with my "biscuits and gravy" was great! The sausage was not hot but rather on the mild side which allowed me to appreciate the taste of the gravy which was fantastic. My partner opted for bacon, eggs and home fries, all of which were just perfect. The portions were generous, the food delicious and the prices were reasonable. The wait time from order to delivery of food was minimal and everything came to our table piping hot. This place is a time machine of many sorts. The clientele are the older set, complete with walker frames - they all know each other and are not afraid to shout the details of their latest surgical procedure across the restaurant. There is a quite appalling, but most amusing, mural along one entire wall of the restaurant - comprised of Zeus, an angry-looking cloud, and a columned Greek building (probably the Parthenon), in three clearly-separately crafted panels, not quite matching in color, scale, or style. (I am guessing this was a Greek restaurant at some time, though not now! Check my picture!) But the food and the decor are clearly timeless favorites.... from the 50's. Floral plastic tablecloths are the perfect setting for grits, biscuits and gravy, eggs, omlettes, hashbrowns, homefries, and all the regular fixin's. The food hit the spot and was devoured quickly - being exactly what you would expect in a restaurant that was packed with pensioners by the time early-bird hour was underway. Nothing special - just good eggs and good biscuits served friendly and fast. So why the coveted five-star rating? There's not many places two can eat without complaint for less than eight bucks! Went back there today (we go there often) at around 1:30pm for lunch. Light crowd, fast seating and superfast service. Chach served us, and it couldn't have been better. I'd skip over the open-faced steak sandwich though, as it was pretty bland. Will definitely come back for breakfast, which was recommended to us by a few locals. Good and cheap too! Gotta say. This restaurant is really good. The best eggs Benedict from coast to coast. I have traveled many many business miles and remember the "bad ones v. the good ones" and this place sets the "bad ones" apparat from the rest. Sorry to those who experienced a bad meal in the past at this restaurant (and it does happen-unfortunately) but not the case now. Iced tea or coffee and dessert included. You just can't beat that. If you look in the mirror at the cloud my friend noticed you could see the word help. The cashier had never noticed. Average food at an average price. Usually not to busy which is good. I don't like how they add a charge of 3.5% to the total bill if you use a Credit Card. That's not cool and it's not advertised on the door when you walk in so I wanted to put that warning out there in case you don't have cash. The 3.5% is not added until you're at the register. Parents live down her and they have breakfast here often. So when we visit we eat here often. It's a small diner that is very popular. Sometimes it gets crowded. What you get here is a decent breakfast (Have never had lunch or dinner here) at a very reasonable price. All the customers seem happy. Tables are close together. We went to this place after reading the previous reviews. We figured out that "Teddy" was busy cooking for the breakfast rush. Some omelets feature spinach or feta, a big clue to being greek owned. I had a work break and a co-worker drug me back there, I couldn't argue with the fact lunch was on him. I think someone listened to my last review, service was definitely improved, and the food was very decent. Avoid at all cost. Staff is unkind and are more interested in gossiping with each-other than giving even sub-par service. They bicker with the owner, who has no respect for staff nor customers. They are unwilling and unable to keep even a teenage level of cleanliness. Dirt is caked into the floors, bits of food are between every tile, and the tablecloths (which are older than I) are half-assedly wiped with a dirty rag before each serving. The silverware is often dirty, and the mugs typically have lipstick stains. God knows what the kitchen looks like. But don't worry, every 60 seconds a waitress whom isn't even yours will come and fill your coffee over the brim, forcing you to sip it from the table like a toddler with no arms. Much like they disrespect their customers and staff, they disrespect the community, and have been caught on multiple occasions dumping their septic tank into the waters of Homosassa. The food is about what you could expect from a TV or frozen dinner. A cheaper experience could be achieved by buying some Tyson chicken nuggets, microwaving them, throwing them on a bun, and sitting down at a retirement home. Most dishes will be incorrect, such as the omelets, which are just eggs and frozen veggies fried until brown. Even the simplest of food is butchered, such as the "blueberry waffles" which are just watered-down Bisquick waffles with blueberries thrown on top, which cost extra by the way. Any complaints will lead to the owner angrily storming out of his nap and arguing with you. Which will happen often, by the way, because they don't know how to keep hair from getting cooked into every meal. You won't even be greeted with replacement food, but instead will have your plate returned to you with any complaints fixed, or completely ignored. The only reason I have ever gone here is to spend time with my elderly family who have been exploited by this disgusting establishment for years. Anyone who enjoys this "restaurant" is either lying or have lost all of their senses. The sooner this plague on our community goes out of business, the better. read more

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because, just like I said with the Breakfast Station, it was discomforting that when the restaurant wasn't busy, the hostess sat me clear in the back corner by the emergency exit door. It didn't even feel like was inside the restaurant. It was like a table that was just there for overage for busy times---or sitting by the back door to be thrown out with the garbage. My wife and I have enjoyed bringing our extensive circle of family and friends to The Sugarmill Family Restaurant for more than three years and have enjoyed the food and kind service very much...till this morning. It's always a treat to go out for a nice relaxing Sunday breakfast. We have enjoyed all of your food offerings. The one thing we can't stand is your coffee. It tastes like poisoned dish water. The sad part is that it doesn't need to be this way. The water has a very strong Iodine flavor that can be easily eradicated. This morning we decided to bring our own coffee so that we could enjoy a nice breakfast without the swamp water. AFTER we were seated Barbara decided to humiliate us in front of other customers by indiscreetly announcing that "we don't allow people to carry in outside drinks here!" I told her that we never would if your coffee wasn't crap. Then we left. Please let me know when you do something to address Barbara's condescending megalomania and we will continue to bring our friends.
