We visited here on Saturday night, January 3rd. We were a party of five, arrived just a few minutes before 5PM. If we wanted to wait to be seated in the main restaurant it would have been 30 minutes. We asked about seating in the bar area and were able to get a high-top immediately. It worked out well. Daniel took great care of us. He is the bartender but waits on tables in the bar area. He was amazing and so efficient. We liked his sense of humor and the attention he gave us. Everyone's dinner was delicious and we look forward to returning when we are in the area. read more

Prime rib was trash here's why....the cut was half fat and the cook doesn't know know to cook a medium rare. I cut into the center and it was raw. Visited on two (2) separate occasions as to see if my first visit to the Ocala location was an anomaly. Our first visit this past spring was the worst dining experience I have ever had. I traveled extensively across the U.S. in my career and had some atrocious meals/service, but this experience was hands down the worst of all. We got seated without issue and the server was friendly. We had a booth and asked for recommendations. The server suggested the meatloaf or the chicken pot pie. I opted for the meatloaf. The other two members in our party selected the pot pie. Our server came back and told me they ran out of meatloaf, so I opted for another dish. About 5 minutes later, the server came back and informed the group that they ran out of chicken pot pies. Disgruntled over this my group ordered another meal. We asked to see the manager. She came over and informed me that the meatloaf requires 2 hours to cool down so the meal wasn't able to be offered at our time. She also said that she went back to kitchen and was now magically able to make a couple of chicken pot pies. Next came our soups. We had no utensils and asked for soup spoons. We were told they ran out of soup spoons and were handed the plastic pack of a spoons. Unreal! Then our meals came out and the chicken pot pies were a disaster. It literally looked like a can of generic chicken soup was poured into a bowl and a breading was plastered on top; it was mostly water with a sliver of chicken. We spoke to the manager again and she stated she would comp. the chicken pot pies. Our server began to lobby about a tip since he stated he had a young child. He then stayed near our table, lurking, as I wrote the tip. Tasteless! Then yesterday was round 2. Right off the bat, we were seated promptly as there was no line. We were given dinner menus, but were seated around 2:30 PM. We waited and waited and then our server came and we asked for lunch menus; she obliged. Then we asked for water and lemon. We waited and waited and waited. I am guessing it was about 10 minutes and no water with many staff members walking by. At this point, we decided to get up and walk away. The service at the Ocala Cheddars (and I've been to another Cheddars which was above average) is atrocious. I will not return to this location as there are many better offerings in the region. read more

Great service and great foods! I had Dijon mustard chickens with dirty rice OMG! it was so delicious!!! My husband got a Fried children with mashed potatoes. Excellent Comfort Food! A tasty meal for whole family. As the name says, it surly is a Scratch Kitchen. Scratch can mean all sorts of thing, but to myself & my family as we ate here not too long ago (according to this date) we were pleased with the results of how great everything was. Our appetizer came at a nice pace followed by our entrees were a good taste from the warm generous-amount of Spaghetti & Parmigiana & Salmon was great with cool refreshing Mango, Pineapple Garnish with it over a bed of rice. Fries could have been a little hotter but, overall, our server was great. I wouldn't care so much for the Broccoli Cheese Casserole though; it tasted like mosh Broccoli Cheese stuffed in bread pudding. Sorry, to that, that is a no. Cheddar's menu didn't not wow me at first site but one I received my food I was in wow!! The food was freshly prepared and presented wonderfully. I had the fried white fish with green beans and carrots which was very tasty. I would recommend Cheddar's to anyone looking for good food. Given this place 3 chances. Each time they over cook the steaks. Very sad that they ruin good cuts of beef so terribly. Honestly it comes out well each time. It was my first time here and I was pleasantly surprised. I got the tilapia and shrimp with mango salsa and it was really good. The service is top notch. The atmosphere was nice, and the bathroom was clean. Great place to go on a date or with a big group of friends. I plan on going back again when in town. Definitely a must try! read more

We waited at our table for a good 10-15minutes until a server came, she said she was sorry that she was busy doing the to-go orders and that she has to cover tables too since someone called in. I ordered an appetizer before the server came to the table. The server took our order, brought us our water then we had to wait for our drinks. The food took forever to come out, the fries were cold and the lady who brought them out was chewing food while bringing out the order. The bacon cheeseburger wasn't good at all. We ordered beer, my beer had strawberry residue and the server didn't come back to check on us not even once. I asked another server for another beer and even that took a while. At the end the server finally came back I told her that my boyfriend never got the fries with his order, and she came back with cold fries which looked liked she took them off random plates. My wife and I arrived at about 7:30 PM on a Wednesday. We were told there was a twenty minute wait by the hostess and it was pretty accurate. When we were seated, our server, Conner, immediately greeted us, and informed us that he was momentarily tied up with another table, but that he would be right with us. He also asked if there was anything he could do for us right then. I could not ask for more... he continued to be attentive throughout the night and did an excellent job. The food came out quickly and was hot and tasty. They were out of the meatloaf, so I had the Dijon Chicken with mushrooms. Glad they were out of my first choice, because I would absolutely order this again. My wife had the bourbon glazed chicken and it to was very tasteful and enjoyable. For dessert I had the painkiller coconut mini-cake and the rum sauce with the molten center were good. My wife had the Chocolate-Raspberry mini-cake. She thought it was a bit on the dry side, and not as much raspberry taste as she expected. I tried it and thought it was moist for a molten cake and did get a hint of the berry, so it could be a matter of taste. We plan to make this a regular stop for our evening dining. Might do without the dessert, but the entrees were definitely worth the trip. read more

This place is terrible.. the place had like 2 tables of ppl and the hostess said we had to wait 15-20 mins for the next shift to show up. Then when we were seated we got 2 little rolls we asked if we could have more they said we have to charge for them. Took waiter till we got our food to bring drinks And it was a hot day out it Would have been nice to get our drinks first. I got a tough steak and my 2 sides were so small like for a infant. had to wait after we asked a few times for our check. Based on the rave reviews posted on another site , my wife and I decided to have dinner at Cheddars last night . We arrived at 7:20 PM and were told the wait would be 1 hour. We were seated at 8PM so that wasn't too bad. My wife ordered the Baby Back ribs and I had the New Orleans pasta. My wife said the ribs were good, not great but acceptable. My pasta arrived cold. I sent it back and 5 minutes later it came back lukewarm. According to the menu, the pasta was described as chicken, shrimp, sausage, peppers and onions with a Cajun Alfredo sauce. The chicken was dry, the shrimp were OK, the sausage was nonexistent, I found two pieces of pepper and a little onion. The sauce must have stuck to the sausage because it was nowhere to be found. When the check came, i was charged twice for the pasta. Computer error of course. Based on this experience, it will be a long time before we return. read more

I would have to for my first visit this was nothing special. They had some tasty items like the honey butter crescents and the fried shrimp, and some eh items in my opinion. The chicken tenders were served warmish and were chewy vs moist chicken inside and crunchy outside. The potatoes and gravy were also served on the not quite warm side. Steak was good and cooked to proper temp, the burbon salmon came out tasty and the coleslaw was fresh and tasty. We ordered the pain killer and it tasted odd to us, but that might just be our taste buds. The pina colada was good. Our server was nice enough but not as attentive as she could have been and she never cleared any dishes or glasses through out the entire meal, instead choosing to leave our table covered and her empty handed at least 4 separate times. Maybe she was tired or maybe it was an off night but might be a good idea to mention to the staff as a whole to not leave plates piling up on the table. read more

This restaurant had been opened about a week when we decided to take a chance on lunchtime as we had heard of very long waits for dinner. We went Saturday at 1pm. Waited 35 min. outside on a beautiful day... Our drinks took a minute or two, only 20 min for food! Pretty amazing! Husband had grilled white fish blackened with rice, I had key west shrimp with chicken with rice & a spicy pico....both were perfectly cooked, moist & melt in your mouth. My family of 7 was visiting Ocala for a gson's birthday when looking for a different place to eat for supper we found Cheddars with a variety on their menu to suit all of us. Went in with a party of 8 and they didnt know what to do. When I arrived they said the wait would be 30 mins and then 1.5 hrs later we finally got seated after we saw the waiting lounge fill and emptied out twice. Ppl that came in after us were seated and left before we ever got a place. When we finally got to our seats it took them 30 more minutes to take orders. When we finally got our orders in, we only received 7 of the 8 and 3 of them were wrong.... The 8th order which was my mother's, took another 45 minutes which was at least comped. Then when the bill came, it was another half hr to get things worked out. They tried to comp a 9th order that didn't exist... And we barley even got refills on drinks. The server came out 2 minutes after the 7 of us recieved our food to refills drinks and was never seen again til we were done and asked if anybody wanted more refills while he brought the check... This place was horrendous and will never go back. Wish I could give it 0 stars read more

Food good enjoyed. Service not so good. Wanted to get a cup of coffee and they have no mugs !!!'Then my friend order coffee later and she went in back to get the mug. Then she brought the milk in a plastic glass !!Had to wait much to long for even water. Never came back to see if my friend wanted more coffer and near $3.00 for a cup you should be able to have another. Since it is new I will give them another try.
