I had brisket and pulled pork plate it was delicious and my wife had grouper sandwich said best she ever had

I enjoyed this bar, especially the friendly bartender Kayla. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Savannah!

I was blatantly discriminated against by staff and management. I came here for a birthday brunch for my niece. I am disabled and utilize a task trained service dog to mitigate my disabilities. My service dog is fully task trained and performing medical alerts and mobility work. The moment I walked up to the hostess stand, I was immediately refused access to indoor seating. They were only offering outdoor seating to us because of my service dog. The hostess explained that the general manager does not allow dogs inside the restaurant, but allows dogs outside on the patio. She brought out the duty manager and she expressed the same statement. According to the Americans with Disabilities Act, Federal Law, and Georgia state law it is ILLEGAL to refuse disabled people with service dogs into public spaces. That is discrimination. Service dogs are legally allowed access into ALL public spaces. After explaining to the hostess and manager that my service dog is not a pet, but medical equipment, and that legally my service dog is allowed anywhere I go, they still refused to let us inside. It took more back and forth for the manager to finally say, "Fine, let them in." The hostess then proceeded to walk us in through a back door (video attached) where the staff was actively folding linens, admitting, "that way you don't walk through the whole restaurant." Guess what? That is also discrimination! It is discrimination to segregate people with disabilities and to have them use separate entrances. Once our food was served, the manager kindly apologized to the table. She explained that she had looked up the laws around service dogs and expressed she didn't know and was going off what her general manager had expressed. I appreciate the apology and her taking the time to better her understanding about service dogs and public access. However, higher up management is still ignorant to the issue. It is higher managements rule to keep people with dogs, including service dogs, seated outside. To reiterate it is illegal and discriminatory to deny access to people with service dogs to public spaces. I understand that people take advantage of service dogs and claim that their untrained dogs are service dogs. I understand that people bring their unruly dogs into public and it can ruin overall experiences. Normal pet dogs absolutely should be seated outside on the patio. Pet dogs do not have access to all public spaces. Pet dogs can be loud, dirty, disruptive, they can attack and distract working service dogs. Federal law makes it clear that pet dogs and emotional support animals are not allowed in all public spaces. However, service dogs are 100% allowed in public spaces. Service dogs are task trained dogs to help mitigate a person's disability. While eating our meal, my service dog quietly and perfectly tasked, mitigating my disabilities. I hope all management can better educate themselves and end discriminatory practices against disabled people who utilize service dogs. I hope the next disabled person with a service dog who comes to this establishment is kindly welcomed in and is treated as equal. read more

Broken Keel - Seafood Near Me - Savannah, Georgia

What a great experience at the new Broken Keel! The food was amazing and the staff was super attentive. Fun bartenders and the manager Lee is great. Highly recommend the surf and turf burger and the grouper bites. The menu here has more variety than other restaurants along River Street. The outdoor patio was a great spot to watch the activity on River Street! Highly recommend. read more

We had the best server! Nautica made our visit to Broken Keel the most fun we had all day.

Had fabulous food and service at Broken Keel last night! Haylee and Ernest were super nice and accommodating to us and our toddler, and the live music was great. Had some good baked oysters with caper butter, and our toddler loved the crab cakes. Highly recommend! read more

Let me preface by saying they've just hired a new executive chef , Alessandro Magnani, who introduced himself and gave us his business card. He was warm, welcoming and helpful and claimed to be in the process of revamping the menu. He is Italian trained with tons of experience and hopefully will make a difference. We chose this place because it shares space with the River Street Inn where we were spending the night to celebrate our anniversary. The ease of taking the elevator down 2 floors was very convenient. However, that's about all of the things we liked about the restaurant. It took forever to get seated. There seemed to be more attention to the diners on the balcony who entered from the street side than to folks who wandered in from the building lobby. It took a few minutes to get served and the first person who came to us said our server had to use the restroom (tmi) and since she was underage she couldn't get us anything from the bar but if we wanted water or soft drinks she would be happy to get those. We opted to wait. Finally got to order drinks and food. Drinks were okay and they served my g&t with Seagram's tonic which is my favorite! I ordered the lobster Mac and cheese which is also a favorite of mine. Hubby ordered the captains platter which was fried shrimp, fish and clam strips served with French fries and coleslaw. This is one of his most favorite combinations and he has enjoyed this same dish at many restaurants locally as well as around the country. At broken keel, though he described it as mediocre at best. Shrimp was fried with very little coating or batter of any kind. Fish was ok but clam strips were hard and tasteless. He is a French fry connoisseur and gets very critical about them. He claimed these were done well and probably the best part of the meal. Accompanying sauces were good, too. Lobster Mac was a huge disappointment. First, for an entree the portion was small. I tasted no lobster however there were lumps of something I had to assume was lobster meat. Unfortunately it was drowned in a cheesy sauce that tasted like the artificial powdered cheese in boxed Mac and cheese or velveeta or something. The pasta was cooked perfectly and I was hungry so I ate some but didn't finish it. There were no accompanying veggies which a nice salad would have made the whole thing a little more palatable. We're hoping Chef Magnani will be making a difference and we will try the Broken Keel again to find out. The Bootlegger, which Chef Magnani has also just begun to revamp made up for the poor dining experience however but that's for another review. read more

We went to check in with the hostess and requested to sit on the patio to eat. There were several tables empty but we were told it would be a 15 minute wait and we could sit at the bar to wait. We don't drink but we did get a water and soda while waiting. The entire 15 minutes that we sat at the bar, those empty tables sat empty. All of the tables were against the railing where you could see the river with the exception of one table stuck up in the corner at the back of the patio. 15 minutes later, the hostess came to get us and said our table was ready (?) and she turned towards the table in the corner where we would not have a view of the river. The other tables that had been empty since we got there were still empty. I asked if we could sit at one of the those tables and she shrugged and looked like I was bothering her but did sit us at one of the tables by the railing. Our waiter was much nicer than the hostess and waited on us timely. He refilled our glasses in a timely manner as well. The food was not bad but the prices were steep for what we got and the quality. I'm sure you're paying for the location more than the food. The seats at the table are fairly close together so be careful when attempting to get up as we were each slammed by the person behind us when they got up. Or at least apologize to the person if you hit them (unlike the people that hit us). read more

Exelent food and the service is wonderful, river views, nice music, definitely we will return.

Came to what we thought was Tubbys but sadden to know they were no longer there was great to see a couple of the servers from Tubbys had stayed. Had the best experience with Mika as our waitress. I ordered a burger cause I do not like seafood. My date order some kind of fish both were so tasty. Will definitely be back. We will be back to try more!! All your staff was friendly and knowledge. Love sitting on the deck. The views are the best!! read more

When we made reservations, we were told it would be 30-40 minutes. We returned at 20 minutes, noticing several tables were open. When we asked how much longer, they said you were "quoted" 30 minutes so you still have 10 more minutes. After we were seated, we waited 45 minutes for our food and the food was terrible. The nachos had canned, orange, processed cheese with barely any meat on them. The other items weren't good either. We are locals and won't be back. read more

Awesome place to chill, ask for Khera as she's awesome and spot on!! Great spot on the river as well.

Clay was great, and we loved watching the boats go by. Drinks and food were good, too!

Clay is awesome. Food is spectacular. We will be back! The cook knows how to grill, such flavor.

If you sit down at this establishment and get paired with the server Zee, run. I've never experienced such an incompetence with a server. She passed a salad over my head and spilled ranch dressing all in my hair and had said almost nothing about it. The bathroom experience was horrid-- pee and water on the floor with an intense scent like a cat litter box. I've never been so dissatisfied with a dining experience and honestly if I could rate this restaurant with zero stars I would. read more

We got drinks here and they were really good but expensive. I got the frozen colada and it was to die for! My husband got a standard Peach Crown Royal with Sprite. I also happened to be there when a carrier ship came by and partook in their $2 ship shot! Really fun! Our server was very friendly. read more

We came in for a conference and ate here 2 years ago. This business has changed owners and names. The food and service were quite bad. VERY bad experience. Won't ever be back. read more

We were all extremely disappointed. The food was mediocre and overpriced. The restaurant's restrooms are porta potties that were absolutely disgusting. If you have to have porta potties then at least have an attendant to ensure that they are clean. Afraid to ask if the cook staff use these restrooms as well. read more

My husband and I were in Savannah for business and we chose to dine at the Broken Keel our last night there. While the ambiance was quite nice (we sat on the patio with a beautiful view of the River and wonderfully warm heaters), the food and service let a lot to be desired. I chose the Bourbon Glazed salmon entree that included green beans and red roasted potatoes @ $25.00. My husband selected the local catch, Mahi-mahi, blackened with green beans and red roasted potatoes @ $29.00. Upon ordering, our server told us they were out of green beans (we were there at 6 pm and it was not crowded.) She told us we could choose another side (Cole slaw, French fries, kettle chips, house salad or Caesar salad). We both chose the house salad and were informed there was an up charge of $5.00 per salad (so now our dinners were $30 and $34). The salads were wonderful. Crisp, fresh with a delicious house salad lemon vinaigrette. When the entree was served we received our seafood and half a plate of kettle chips. When I inquired about the red roasted potatoes our server told us they were inedible as they had been burned. We had NOT been offered a different side. Personally, I'm guessing that was because there probably weren't any healthy choices left. My salmon was nicely cooked and quite tasty. My husbands mahi mahi was not blackened and was just ok. The chips were just that. Tasteless kettle chips. . We finished our meal, paid the ridiculous price and left. Additionally, we had to ask for a second beverage as the server did not come by or offer. In retrospect, I wish we had asked to see the manager. The quality of the meal was certainly not worth even half of what we paid. Under the circumstances of both advertised sides being unavailable, I would at least have expected the $10 for 2 side salads would have been waived. Poor service. Questionable stock and cooking. Overall unsatisfactory dining experience. Very disappointed. The one star rating is perhaps a little high. read more

Food was priced fairly and served hot! Fish was fresh & not smothered in coating, seasoned perfectly. Service was excellent! Drinks are fun and very tasty! Wish I could come back soon but I live 3000 miles away where fish is always fresh (Seattle) and where sadly, grouper isn't sold. read more
